My Ranger came stock with the Torsen torque bias (helical gear) differential which I've heard is the best. I've been looking for videos of people working on the 8.8" Torsen and they are very hard to find.
Those came in fx4 level 2 trucks, one of the best rear ends that came in rangers, I've picked one up with 4.10 gears out of an 04 ranger, I'll be putting it in my ranger.
Would it be easier to insert the cross pin to align the side gears and then removing it before rotating them into place? Great vid, thanks for sharing, also would the expy diff fit into the ranger axle housing.
It's pretty easy to line them up to me since all 4 gears can be rotated without spring, can you do it differently? Sure, whatever works for you. Can explorer carrier fit 8.8 ranger axle? Yes it can, but unless it's an fx4 axle you won't be able to find axle shaft that will fit.

Thanks for the informative video! I’m currently wanting to swap a e locker into my 28 spline 8.8 rear end on my ranger. Thing is that the locker is for 31 spline axles. Do you think with new 31 spline axles it will all fit with no issues in the same diff housing ?

@@merlepatterson around here on rust belt all the fx4 level 2 trucks end up at the junkyard due to rust, I get a lot of parts from them.
@@everydayirace Yeah, the rust belt does that to pretty much very vehicle. Fortunately, my truck is rust free being on the west coast.
@@everydayirace Right now I'm replacing my ring and pinion gears. Truck sat for too long and rusted the bearing, and you know what happened next.
