Tokyo Roki oil filters have a good reputation for quality, it is very similar to the generic Chinese filter and Denso, I would use this filter without hesitation.
I would use the filter also, I feel it is good, the price is decent. My observations of the filter are they did just enough to make it good. Silicone would of been nice. Thanks Bud I always appreciate your comments. 😉
The filter you are holding is for the non turbo engines; the short and stout filters are for the turbo models. These are definitely better than the old blue ones made by fram.
Sizewise your Subaru can use a better filter from Hyundai. Better oil filtration and a bigger filter. What's not to like? Of course, some people may say that the bypass valve pressure is higher on Subaru filter. 1 bar vs 1.5 bar pressure. But who cares if the Hyundai filter has 60% more filter medium? Thank you for the centimetres. It is understandable now.
@@crazybillsgarage One more comment. Your 5-7K km oil filter change plan doesn't make much sense. You can't easily plug up a Subaru oil filter. Depends where you drive. In dusty conditions It can last less but far more than 5-7k km. They have incredible dust retaining capacity compared your regular aftermarket filters which are seldom worth buying. Generally they can go 50K or more. They never get any torn medium. Hyundai filters last less but running them less than 25K km in an overkill even for them.
@@beaches2mountains230 I use a Hyundai filter now. They have only one canister type filter. I like Hyundai filters because they are high efficiency filters in disguise. If you want an aftermarket high efficiency filter you need to pay a high price. And no guarantee that you get what you pay for. You hope that it's good because their web site says so. But when somebody tests and opens it the filter may be mediocre at best.
I think me daughter uses these filters on her Subaru, she will see this and maybe change her oil filter arrangement for that car. Really another sticking bypass.
This filter 15208aa20a is used for FB engines for The North American Market--it is a good filter compared to the old 15208aa15a. The rest of the world gets 15208aa160 from Japan; it is also the filter which comes on new Foresters and Crosstrek from Japan and you can import this from Japan. This filter the 152088aa20a is not for the EJ engine in your Subaru Forester it would be 15208aa100. The filter 15208aa20a is for the top mounted FB engines which are the most common Subaru engines now and used in the Forester from 2012 onward and only found in the North American Market.
Thanks for the information, yes I see they gave me a filter for 2018 Subaru Impreza with the 2 liter engine. I did not specify in the video what filter I was given. The parts desk guy was new, I'm happy with the filter anyways and it's a good standard filter that should work great.
I do believe it's made a bit better with it having metal end caps. I think I'm going to do a video on 10 orange cans to see how well they lasted in 10 different engines. Thanks Pearlio.
Nearly 145k miles on my Outback, when should I expect these problems to show up? And before you ask, still on the original head gaskets, and it doesn't burn any oil. Oh, and the CVT is just fine, too. But keep on with the hating if it makes you feel good.
My 2013 Subaru engine has never had any problems whatsoever. 173000 km and still zero oil consumption. I change oil every 18 month and 20K+ km. Short trips.

Another fine investigative report Bill ! 🤓
Thanks Looney.🤗

Yes a fine filter for standard oil change intervals, I did not know about the former blue can being made from Fram. Good information, thanks.
That’s definitely made by premium guard for sure. They all look like that
Not a huge fan of Premium Guard, they work to there limit like most filters.
@@crazybillsgarage right. 5000 mile oil changes max for me. Especially since most cars have direct injection engines. The fuel dilution is ridiculous
Should I use this or a Wix filter? i do 4k oil change intervals on my 2020 Impreza
I would think that both Wix and Subaru filter would perform great with 4k oil changes. Both are fine filters.

Thanks Mikman being from Canada we use inch a lot, centimeters will be used from now on in filter Reviews.

So which do you use ? The Hyundai ( what model) filter or the n/a Subaru filters ??

Yeah that sticking bypass was another shocker. Did not expect that. There are a few other choices that seem to be better. Thanks Ted.😉
0emz may not be best for longevity of use or equipment!???!

What do you recommend
I recommend Wix or Champion products, they seem to do a good job
@@crazybillsgarage thanks for the quick response
@slashknife your welcome
This looks equal to the orange can of death 🤦♂️

Don't even compare the unusable junk to the Subaru filter.
your first problem was buying a subaru....youll have much bigger issues with it in a few years when the heads warp and cook
Normal day for a Subaru owner.😅

@pheadland nice. I agree Subaru will last if like all vehicles, maintenance is key to longer lifespan. 😉

@mikman7219 nice to hear good things about Subaru.
