Hey everyone, Walmart has a really good warranty that costs $15 for two years. You can send it back for any reason and get the entire cost (plus tax) of the controller back in an E-gift card. I had my controller break twice so I traded it in and I bought a new one along with a new warranty.
In fact, I didn't want my warranty to expire so right before my two year mark from the last time I purchased the controller, I traded it in for a new one and just re-upped the warranty. All in all, I've spent about $150 plus $45 extra for 3 elite controllers and I just sent mine back to get a gift card to put towards the Elite 2 controller. Will only cost me $30 to upgrade plus $15 for a two year warranty.
I don't ever go to Walmart except for my controller/warranty needs.
I'll keep it for close to 2 years and then trade it in for a brand new controller before the warranty expires and pay another $15 to re-up

I managed to get my hands on the series 2. And it is definitely worth the buy since the holidays are coming around. The controller has held up super well, the new trigger locks help extremely since I play R6 and timing is crucial in that game. The paddles being shorter helps since I won’t accidentally throw a nade at myself. Plus, the presets are great. I didn’t upgrade from Elite series 1 since I heard a lot of negative feedback. But from playing on a regular controller to playing on the series 2, you can tell the difference in your gaming. So, whether you play on the Elite series 1 or just a regular controller, then I would 100% recommend the Series 2

While durability is absolutely a concern, we won’t know for probably a few months until people start reporting issues. Rubber grips, stick drift and bumpers breaking are real concerns, especially if there is no way of replacing parts yourself, but I guess we have to wait and see on these.
My big question from a functionality stand point is with regards to the paddles on the back. I switched mine on the original elite for the scuf paddles, and they are perfect. The standard paddles on the elite are far too easy to press accidentally. So my question is, have they made any adjustments beyond the shorter paddles to make accidental presses more rare, or are the shorter paddles enough?
Would really appreciate a response, don’t know if I’m going to get to hold one and test before possibly buying, but this would be one of the biggest deal breakers for me as I don’t think it will be possible to have a different design on the paddles like scuf has done for the original elite because there is no battery cover anymore.

One thing on the Series 2 also :
When shortening the triggers, you don't need to customize the trigger's sensitivity in order to be at 100%
Instead, the Series 2 does it for you
If you shorten the trigger, it'll automatically scale to the trigger being shortened, unlike Series 1
More profiles, and the ability to connect to almost any device...
And the paddles are shorter and more clicky (Still need to get used to that, but overall it fixed the miss clicking anytime you'd put the controller on your bed or your leg)

My X1 Elite came with a Gen1 and I bought an additional controller.
The only reason I bought the thing was for the short throw triggers.

Issues i've had with the series 1: first was the cable port, so i took it back under warranty. Then i had an issue with the hair trigger locks and the right thumb stick where i couldn't get the full 360 degree rotation. And i had an issue with the port again. So again i replaced under warranty that i have paid extra for (insurance). After a while my charge port went again so i decided to use normal AA batteries and not bother, recently the rubber grips have just started to come off and the lower left paddle has a lot of play (slack) before it reaches the green buttons compared to the others. I use all the paddles constantly for Forza and FPS games.

Green contact points on the series 1: I put a drop of super glue on it let it dry to build up the surface. Works great, put a drop on the rest for resistance of future ware and tear.

I know this video is several months old, but I stumbled across it during intensive google searches. Can you tell me if the buttons/triggers on the series 2 are the same as those on the series 1? I am trying to decide if I want to purchase the series 2 and it basically depends on whether it can be customized with different buttons. I am unable to find any button kits for the series 2, but there is a limitless supply of buttons for the series 1.

Looks like everyone had the grips fall off, me and my friend included. I also heard the numbers breaking but mime never broke but they did dislodge when dropped but I could always but them back in place and it worked perfectly

Great review. Love the color backgrounds. Makes a great dynamic for compare and contrast.
My only hang up is the irreplaceable internal battery. We all know rechargeable batteries are crap after about a year's use. That might just make it DOA for me.

The original Elite thumbsticks don't fit on the Elite series 2! I thought that was stupid since I own both!

But does the grip expand with heat making the controller garbage after a year?

@@lhqs it would have to be consistent heat for it to do that, if it can expand, it can retract. So unless you intend on holding the thing 35 hours a day, it won't be too big of an issue.

Do you have an update as to how the controller has held up after 10 months of use?

Just got my series 2 in the mail yesterday. I've used my OG Elite controller since launch. Granted I had to mod/fix the thing less then 6 months after I bought it due to the absolute shit bumper design, and build quality. It still offered the customization, and ease of use (one you repaired it lol) that I recommended it. Best controller I've owned, and I collect em. It just had a major design flaw that was overlooked. Even with the best modded controllers on the market you can't get the in depth customization along with support.
As for the series 2... It's been 24 hours, and I can already tell this is everything the original one needed. The build quality alone is night, and day. It just feels super durable. The added Bluetooth/Battery/Full Mapping/extra steps/tension all fill in the gaps the original Elite left.
If you're gonna spend >100$ on a controller then dish out the extra 30$. That 30$ will give you so much more. This isn't like the iPhone where you're paying a premium for some gimmick this really feels like the controller of the future.
Edit: One more thing I wanted to add is that while the battery will eventually loose it's quality that there will most definitely be a way to replace it when that happens. I doubt it's gonna be an issue for quite a few years minus a few unlucky ones here, and there. Controllers don't use as much power as you think, and with the ability to tone down, or even eliminate the vibration, and LED lighting we'll probably be ready for a new controller by the time it becomes a hassle.
Here's to hoping my optimism isn't gonna bite me in the ass haha
