Microsoft Elite 2 is NOW The BEST Controller For Xbox and PC!

  • It has been a long time since I mentioned the Elite 1 or 2, because no matter how good they were, I couldn't recommend them due to quality control issues, with many shipping with stick drift and jammed A buttons. Fast forward and word on the street is Microsoft has tightened up QC at the factory, there is a new program for PC that unlocks some great features, and most importantly the Series 2 STILL has a couple features that literally no other premium controller has. If you own an Elite, or are considering purchasing one, I strongly recommend you watch the entire video.

    Please share your experience with the Elite Series 2, positive or negative. If you have had quality control/breaking issues please mention when and where you bought the controller, and if you were able to get a replacement, and if so, how long it took to get to you. Also anything you enjoy or dislike about this specific control, feel free to shoot it in the stallion stable (comment section).

    Nice review. Convinced me. One thing, Bluetooth is in the 2.4ghz spectrum. The standalone 2.4ghz dongle has better latency because it uses efficient communication protocols that don't have to abide by the Bluetooth standard, which is prone to dropped packets and very noisy in discovery mode.

    Great thorough video about your experience with the controller and also appreciate the the comparisions and unboxing of both the Elite 1 and 2. This will be my first elite controller so I had no clue how to set it up, but I've heard great things about the controller and definitely need a controller for my first person shooters primarily COD. Me being an IT I have no clue why I haven't went ahead and went the Eliter controller / Premium controller route (price I'm sure), but can't wait to create a profile for potentially other games that I may use the paddles and remapping of the buttons for. Appreciate your time and effort that you put into this video!

To use only the word entertaining would actually be a disservice to your channel. I found it informative, in depth, humorous and down right FUNNY AS FRACK as well as entertaining. I hit the like button within the first 2min of this video and even though most of the channels I subscribe to are for a particular game I play. I will subscribe to your channel and see what other products you reviewed and to see your reviews of products that I might want in the future. Please keep doing what you're doing!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍

    I have owned my series 2 elite since dec 2020. The first one I owned I had to exchange within the first month due to stick drift. I’m happy with it but just a couple weeks ago one of the slide switches on the back that changes the trigger push depth has snapped off. I didn’t even adjust them often. They were almost always locked in the same position and it fell off without switching it. Beyond that it is an excellent controller for gameplay. I originally used it with Xbox one X and then later my Alienware R10. If they make a series 3 I will probably upgrade.

    I bought my series 2 used for $100 from some dude on offer up. DON'T GET IT. It won't last long AT ALL. Over the years I've been hearing about the Elite controllers, I've NEVER heard of them lasting more than 3 months. Durability is TOP PRIORITY when it comes to controllers, ESPECIALLY when they're $150+. And compared to erry other professional controller, the Elite Series BY FAR has the worst durability
      You're better off getting a RAZER Wolverine Tournament (Most durable controller on the market). It's a mechanical controller, which sounds a LOT like a mouse when clicking buttons. It has 6 buttons, 4 on back, 2 on the shoulder. It doesn't have the tension adjustments like the Elite, but it far more valuable features. It even has RGB

  • @firstbreath1371

    I bought my elite 2 when XSX comes out, the left stick starting to drift after 3 months ( replaced in 2weeks), second has right bumper issue after another 3 months and after that my 3rd controller is fine till this day. Even after this all adventures with service i must say no other controller is even close to elitev2. I change my sticks 3 times a day, charging this bad boy once a week and set everything i want in console app. Really if this device would not have this issues it would be a perfect controller. Love it

      Janne Laitinen if it hasn’t happened already it should soon. My bumpers and a paddle stopped working correctly after less than a month. I’ll send it in for warranty because it’s the best controller I’ve ever used but I’m buying a scuf to see if I like it better (also so I have something to use while I switch out elite series 2 controllers every 3-4 weeks)

      Agreed. Quality control is still very much an issue. I purchased an elite series 2 in mid December and 3 months in I’ve had the worst stick drift I’ve ever experienced on my left stick. This is coming from someone that takes very good care of their electronics and hasn’t had any major issues with any prior controller. The series 2 are just not built well

I found out that other bluetooth devices interferes with the controller's bluetooth causing it to disconnect. Tried to get rid of other bluetooth devices and I only connected the elite 2 alone to my pc, but it didn't resolve the issue. I had to use it tru wired connection from that point on. 🤦‍♂️

    The title should clearly state that it's your opinion because in fact the microsoft elite v2 is plagued with issues relating to gamepad components failure. Stick drift being the #1 issue and some reports are immediate whereas other users are after a few months. I have gone through several over 2 years and if not for a warranty replacement I would have ditched the gamepad a long time ago.

    There is no "official" support for mapping keyboard commands to the paddles. However Steam fully supports this feature for the Elite where Microsoft does not. You would think Microsoft being a PC company would get on the case with this. Its a shame it seems to have to be done on a case by case basis. You cannot map the paddles on a Wolverine Ultimate in Steam and it kills me cause I love that controller. Razer's own remapping software sucks and is sloppy and inaccurate, (if only they would let you use a mouse, Razer I think you know mice better than most) you will tear your hair out remapping buttons at times.

    I do have an elite 2 controller that I bought on release of my series X. I have played it ever since however I did get some issues. My controller top right bumper button isn’t as responsive anymore and the left is starting to go now as well. Often it requires a hard press to get the top right bumper to work. It really sucks because I play d2 and having my bumpers delaying often can get me killed. However I must note that my Elite controller has been put in its paces since 2020 and has handle it all perfectly. I am not sure if I can fix the bumper issues as blowing into the bumper fixes it temporarily but not permanently.
    But all in all I do recommend this product and it is by far the best and more reliable pro controller. This isn’t the old elite controller that broke after one month.

    Hey Kevin!
    I am struggeling with a issue that no one every talked about, with the Xbox series 2 controller. I hope you or your community can hell me out.
    I was playing Apex Legends with my series 2 as i noticed there is a too big deadzone on my right Stick that covers all my micro adjustments... So i set the ingame deadzone to Zero... What happened was that the game went unplayable, without deadzone i had crazy moves in my aim... So i tried since half a year now to get that stickdrift "erased". I welded in some new potentiometer any weldes those extra pcbs onto it after testing the new potentiometer... With the New Jones i also had a minimal Drift, so i got that pcbs and adjusted it, all very fine.... After that i went to test it ingame.... The result was that i am able to go from 10% Deadzone to now 8% 🎉🎉😢😢😢
    Meanwhile i tested this i have noticed a fully other issue that no one every talked about.... I would call the Problem... Tentionless Center of the Stick..... Because when i screw the tention from normally tight to loose i noticed that the tention in the Center of the Stick stays always tight.... So it feels like, there is a little "resistor" or "level" between the Center of the Stick and the outter zone.... Loosen or tighten makes no difference to it ....
    If you ever heared about this Problem and maybe know how i can solve it, i would be very thankful!!
    Please help me out, everyone out there who is reading this also is invited.

    I previously had the scuff prestige controller. All said and done it cost around $240 (that’s with using a content creators discount code for 10% off!). After about 3-4 months the plastic back paddles started bending and eventually broke. Like the plastic just gave up and they fell apart like old pieces of gum. So I had to buy more paddles. Then the battery stopped working on it, would die instantly even after being charged for 3 hours, would die even when plugged in. I’m not the smartest tool in the shed so I just went ahead and bought another one. So now I’m up to about $500 into scuff controllers. I eventually wanted different paddles so I had to buy those as well. BUT around 6 months in the battery died just like the previous controller. I cannot explain how frustrating it is when you’re in a 1v1 or in a pvp match and your controller dies. Rage inducing. Especially looking at how much of my hard earned money I spent on these controllers. I recently bought myself an elite series 2 and my god. If you’ve ever gone from a regular controller to a paddled controller, you know the feeling of “wow this is a major upgrade, my skill is going to improve significantly” THAT is the same feeling I got when I went from a scuff controller to an elite controller. THEY DON’T CALL THIS ELITE FOR NOTHING BABY! I’d say the scuff is like a decent Chevy whereas the elite series 2 is like a Cadillac. No more cheap plastic that’s extremely overpriced. You now have what truly feels like a premium option. It’s absolutely beautiful as well as it’s a metallic metal. You can dial it to fit how you play way more than you ever could with scuff. There is no comparison and I would tell anyone beside my worst enemy that the elite is the way to go. I paid $150 in total for my elite series 2 through Microsoft (no third party involved) which is almost $100 cheaper than scuff and yet the premium quality of the controller is worlds beyond. It blows my mind. If you’re trying to decide then I hope this video as well as my comment reaches you. There is no competition here. To top it all off the elite series 2 comes with a 3 month warranty as well as a 1 year warranty that you can opt in for although the 1 year warranty does cost a little more. BEST OF LUCK GAMERS!

    The only thing that bothers me about the Elite Series 2 (and this is a big one for me) is that the adjustable tension mechanisms cause the sticks to have a larger mechanical deadzone compared to every other Microsoft Xbox One/Series controller including the Elite S1. The mechanical deadzone is the amount of movement that exists in the center before there is any resistance. You can check this yourself by grabbing any other official Xbox controller, putting it side by side with the Elite S2 and checking the amount of side-to-side stick wobble there is before you feel that spring tension.
    It's not super bad with the short sticks but if you throw the longer stick on it feels awful compared to an Elite S1 with the longer stick. I had to RMA my Elite S2 because one of the paddles stopped working and the brand new replacement they sent me had the exact same mechanical deadzone issue.
    This increased mechanical deadzone is also the reason these controllers sometimes have stick drift out of the box, since the larger the mechanical deadzone is, the closer the stick will be to registering movement while centered. If it weren't for this issue I'd be using my Elite S2 all the time, but it feels sloppy in FPS games and for that reason I continue to main my Elite S1.

    • @rickd6914
      @rickd6914 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Posted two video links in the comments showing this exact deadzone issue.
      The best one is a repair guy that has disassembled the tension module and you can see its a design flaw. From what I understand that those who use the tighter tensions don't notice it as much. Which could explain why there is not alot of exposure on this issue.

    • @Zamm1n
      @Zamm1n 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickd6914 Yeah I have noticed that if you max out the tension it reduces the mechanical deadzone slightly, but to me it still feels a bit larger than standard sticks.

      @okay7332 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      so this is why they wobbled, ive returned 6 because of this. I will be honest it may feel more sloppy in games where you have low deadzone enabled like apex but i think personally the 4 paddles at the back give you more of an advantage even tho you are gonna have as low of a deadzone, I think im gonna be okay with higher deadzones

    • @okay7332
      @okay7332 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      does that mechanical deadzone get larger overtime, i understand stick drift happens in every controller snd does get worse and worse depending on use and the sensor used but would you recommend me stick with the elite 2 or move to just a normal cheaper xbox series X controller

    • @Zamm1n
      @Zamm1n 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@okay7332 4 paddles can certainly be handy but the Elite S1 has 4 paddles also. I'm actually using the S2 paddles on my S1 haha.
      I'm not totally sure if the mechanical deadzone will increase with age, I'd imagine it probably wouldn't increase much though even if it does. When parts wear out they naturally get looser but in this case I dunno if that mechanism undergoes enough stress for that to happen.
      I'm currently using a Victrix Gambit controller and honestly it's really solid and noticeably faster than the Elite controllers over a wired connection. That one gets a solid recommendation from me as well as the Elite S1 if you can find one in good condition. But if you've already got an Elite S2 and you're enjoying it despite it's flaws, there's no reason not to keep rocking it until something gives out. 👍

    Tip for people with bumper response issues. DONT start mashing it hard to make it work. You will break the bumper module. Its fixable. Caused by dirt getting inside the module. How? I dont know. But if you get some electrical contact cleaner (One with a straw for precise application preferably). Take the face plate off. Then spray into the module around where the button on the module is pushed in small bursts. Press the button several times while doing this. Give it 10 mins for the cleaner to completely evaporate. Put it back together. It will work like new again. I was skeptical whether it would work when someone told me about it. But it did. Everything works like new again.
