      Congratulations!!! First thing to check is the hydraulics system! Make sure you have no leaks at the pump where it connects with the hoses and also above your head when you're seating in the car. Where are you located? In the states? I have an 04 xkr. They're a lot of fun. But very needy!!! Damian knowledge is outstanding and very valuable, check his videos. Unfortunately a lot has changed between Damian's model and ours.

    I have the original purchase records for my 2003 XKR coupe. The first owner paid £4250 GBP for Detroits + Handling pack + Cross drilled disks. etc but then with VAT added on top! I think Brembos and CATS had become standard on XKR which explains cost difference.

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul, the Jaguar technical guide for MY2003 also states that Brembo brakes are standard on the XKR so all makes sense together with your documents and the discounted price. Must be very happy to have confirmation of the handling pack. Does it much of a difference? Much appreciate your practical experience and comment thanks Damian

      @@ODRModurol The steering is definitely excellent feel but never compared it to another X100 to know if it's any better ! I don't drive it hard enough to test the handling limits but it certainly sits flat around corners when other cars lean...

      Brembos are great but can be noisy. Mines whine super loud when breaking at low speed. When the brakes are hot and at low speed braking almost at stop, it whines like crazy. Heard that a lot from others having that issue too

      Alexander, seems like the 'R' performance upgrades aren't very good for everyday driving. Maybe I'm best keeping my standard setup. Thanks for the input and comment Damian

    Hi, thank you for the video. Is there any way how to visually confirm the handling pack? Suppose it cannot be read from VIN code? I dont have any other XKR to compare whether mine sits 10mm lower or not. What I noticed recently (before knowing about handling pack) that the sway bar (hopefully I use right word) looks pretty massive. So maybe? Do you happen to have any pics of classic sway bar on XKR without handling pack? Thank you.

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      J L, Unfortunately, I haven't look into the detail yet. As you say the anti-roll (sway) bar is uprated and thicker. If you measure the diameter of your front anti-roll bar I will do the same as mine is definitely the normal type., Thanks for the input and comment regards Damian

      @@ODRModurol just did, the access there was not very easy but it looked like 85mm circumference which makes it smth like 27mm in diameter. As this (races-shop.com/xk8-xkr-x100-1996-2006/72654-powerflex-front-anti-roll-bar-mounting-bush-25mm-jaguar-daimler-xk8-xkr-x100-1996-2006.html) is for both XK8/XKR and it says 25mm, I guess I have the standard one :( But just measure yours and we will see. Thank you.

      So I was going through invoices that I got with the car. The rear shocks have been changed few years ago. The parts were MXD3540AC (book with parts saying adaptive with performance package - meaning probably handling pack). Then there was one front shock changed for MXD2140AB (also this should be CATS + perf. package as the standard CATS are MJB2140EC). I also found 2006 XK US booklet with the price list. There it says that for 250 USD you could have red brembo calipers but it was only possible to order if also handling package was ordered. So this could be (at least in US) one visual clue about handling pack. My car has red calipers as well but its EU version. Anyway based on the shock absorbers I am pretty sure I have the handling package.

      J L, sounds like you might be correct and lucky. From my understanding the performance CATs struts had slightly updated and lowered springs hence the part number difference. Might be worth getting a Jaguar Heritage Certificate for your car as will probably be listed on the build sheet. Thanks for the Update and input regards Damian. PS Very jealous👍

    Is it possible to rebore 4 Litre niKasil block and get it recoated with nikasil then fit oversized pistons?

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      James, to be honest I have no idea. I believe to engine has been taken to circa 4.4 or 4.5 litres as offered by Racing Green Cars Ltd and Arden Tuning in Germany. Assume its a very expensive. Thank for the comment, regards Damian

    I have Detroit's but they are outrageously heavy !!

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      West Boundbadger, havent considered the weight but the two piece design plus stainless steel finisher is not the simplest of construction. Single piece would be less weight. Good information, thanks for the input Damian

    • @paulkane6645
      @paulkane6645 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah the 20inch BBS split rims are heavy but actually lighter than standard 20inch cast single piece Aluminium Alloys. This is because the BBS inner wheel is pressed and has fully uniform 3mm wall thickness - which is less mass than cast. Plus, all the bolts are titanium.

    • @ODRModurol
      @ODRModurol  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul, don’t know about Detroit’s but my Milan have both inners and rims in cast aluminium. No steel on these two piece split rims. The bolts don’t through two steel halves like std three piece wheel but into the cast aluminium single piece outer rim with tapped holes. Yours could be different. Thanks for the comment, Damian

      @@ODRModurol The Detroit 'spoke face part' is Cast Ali and bolted to the wheel cylinder which is press forged Ali. The original polished outer ring is Stainless Steel over Ali and bonded behind the spoke face.

    Our 2000 XKR came with the R performance upgrade & features Jaguar badged Brembo brakes, 20" Detroit wheels, up-graded suspension & CATS. Our car is badged XKRR & I have been trying to find out whether this was factory badging or done by an enthusiastic previous owner. I would have preferred the standard double 5 wheels for both appearance & general driving but they cannot be fitted with the brake up-grade.

    • @joannedickie7863
      @joannedickie7863 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The R-Performance up-grade makes our car very nervous on undulating or patched roads where it tends to bump steer & tramline. It handles like a race car on good roads but I feel safer driving our old Hyundai I30 quickly on a poor road. The wide wheels obviously contributes to the nervous feel as we have experienced the same handling with other vehicles shod with wide wheels.

      @@joannedickie7863 so true!!! A bump on the road at 40mph + and the wheel literally steers to the side! I have to maintain a right grip on mine when I drive it. Specially on multi lanes as you're passing a car. A bump on the road and you feel as if someone grabbed your wheel and pulled it as a joke... Scary...

      Joanne, I think the 'R' badging came in with MY2003 cars. Interesting the feedback about the handling and wheels. They are the racer settings for this model. Thanks for your input and comment Damian
