Thats a 45/50 score for me. Looks amazing from few feet away and the manual swap is so cleanly done most would have a difficult time saying its not a factory option.
The stance on that car ! ❤ I like the x100 over the x150 just because of the low roofline and body lines . I guess the rear taillight is where the car slightly falls apart but like the rest . I love how they look
I rescued a prototype Jaguar V8 engine and manual box from a scrapyard not long ago. Well, I left the engine there. The gearbox was a Getrag 265 five speed as used in the 3.6 XJS and XJ40. Jaguar engineers used a custom flywheel and a standard 3.6 clutch with an engine to gearbox adaptor plate plus a trigger ring for the TDC sensor. It had been a test bed unit and was never fitted to a car. I couldn’t get any interest from Jaguar Heritage at all. I sold the gearbox to a guy converting an E Type to five speed and the rest of the bits went to a Jag specialist. I bet that was the only one to escape being scrapped.
If I had a lot of money, I'd buy a dozen XK's and have the all converted to manual. Then resell them, and see what they fetch. This has to be the absolute coolest Jaguar XK ever. There are way too many automatics in the US. Long live the manual transmission. Thank you.

You got to lose 2 points on exterior for tailpipes alone if they aren't matching. On the positive, it means it should be a quick 2 points reclaimed. Window trim etc take you barely any time and you've already got an 8 or 9 so do it and suddenly your score is very decent. Definitely sort that dash/cente console out...
11:15 now that, ladies and gentlemen, is the E-Type that was driven overnight from Coventry to Geneva for an additional test drive car for the 1961 Geneva Motor Show because the demand for it was higher than expected. And it's the one Jeremy Clarkson drove in Top Gear S17E01.
I have both a 98 XK8 and a 01 XKR coupe. The XK8 had a manual swap like this almost 10 years ago. I have about 140,000 miles on it now. XKR is a black coupe right at 100k. I thought i could get down to one but I just cant. MAYBE a manual XKR would do it but I really love the drive of both cars. Both are lowered on Mina springs. Worth the cost of the swap? Definitely but while the XK8 manual performs much as the XKR it is a bit slow off the line. At speed they feel the same.
What a great idea ! Great that Jaguar were up for partnering with you for this video. Great music and visuals. Love that old pale yellow car in the background during the wrap up
