That oil tank surround is very trick. We have a 1980's Quaker Buck parlor stove heating the workshop on Long Island. The ol' stoves will burn anything. Mix of pallets & odd shape firewood.
That cut up oil tank is a great idea. Heat deflector and added protection should the barrel burn through, which they do after several years..... Keep warm. I am about 3 hrs east of you at 1500 ft elevation so I think we experience about the same temperatures. I heat my old post and beam home using wood pellet stove and keep the house between 61 and 64 degrees. Wife is okay with that....LOL. Upstairs its about 57 F when cold out.. makes for great sleeping.
got me a 2022 power wagon you would think it wouldn't need any mods, already did 35"s, air intake, power commander, cjc rear track bar, rear fox shocks, waiting 2 months for white knuckle rock sliders, KC flex era-4 lights, next is a cat-back exhaust and wheel spacers. good luck with your build.... and finding parts..
I don’t keep anything down there. If I used it every day I would. I was actually thinking about cutting up another barrel and sliding a second layer of barrel on the bottom. If that makes sense. So it’s twice as thick.

We use pellet stoves too. Love them!
Run them on Diesel fuel instead. It doesn't stink like kerosene and it give off more BTUs than kerosene.
Diesel stinks
Thick layer of sand in the bottom then line the bottom with fire brick it never burns through

Lot of stuff! Sounds great 👍
I have used a single barrel and have experienced a double with exhaust pipe welded in top barrel with a fan. It will heat a 30x40 insulated shop.
Those barrel stoves have always been something I wanted to make. Do you keep anything in the bottom to keep it from burning out?

So are we going to just skip over talking about that chair? Looks comfy.
Haha Pierre Paulin Orange Slice 👍
