Great video! I have a 95 F150 5.0L that's been sitting for 15 years. New dist, fuel tanks, etc, etc. Got it to fire and run but same symptoms as you describe. I was thinking clogged cat next. Thanks for all this info for backyard guys like us. What scanner and software are you using? I'd love to pull info like that from this OBD1.
Have E150 5ltr, just doesn't have even power curve, plenty of power at above idle and floored, it just seems boggy in the middle, don't want just low. Rpm power or floored only power. No ck engine lt. Just would like half power at half throttle, any suggestions, engine is good ,clean, doesn't burn oil, compression good all 8, it's just flatish in the middle, does make a difference to gas it just full in the middle. ????
I had gone thru this procedure on my 05 kia 6cyl (in past had timing correlation code and injector 5 code) hint of water in oil I thought I was crazy (messed up head or headmaster side note) but THIS PROCESS HERE after putting back together tps in wrong spot gave me transmission issues. It felt like. Well I've had transmission issues searching for gears stop sign complete stop 3rd gear wait a sec....1st gear....take off unless floored gas before hit other end intersection I'm bout working my way into 3rd COULD THIS POSSIBLY FIX THAT ISSUE and fucked up head or head gasket on the soon to be worked on kia?
So I have same exact setup truck just 1995. Was driving made it about 18 mins from the house and truck completely died on me. After running through the normal stuff ended up being the positive terminal end. Replaced that truck started now, but got codes off my OBD1 for the tps and idle air control. Replaced those. Truck runs but still has no pep, runs better but no real pep. Got code 158 for maf and code 998. I replaced it but I'm guessing it is a short in the wire causing this last problem? Yes or no. If you have the same maf code after replacing then yes wiring are computer , If you dont have maf code after replacing check timing and check for cat. converter stoped up and check fuel pressure,

I’am kind of guessing it’s my tps causing my truck too run poorly and to idle high, at start it idles good but when I give it gas it stays very high, I disconnect the idle control valve and it stays on low rpm’s but when I connect it back it idles high again. Any pointers will help thanks
Try cleaning the throttle body and idle air control valve first . If that don't help try taping on idle air control valve and see if rpm go's down ( sometimes they can stick ) . Then you can start looking at the tps .
My truck flat falls on its face when you get it up past about 15 mi and when you first take off it's good but after that it just falls on his face until it reaches about 35 or
I have 1994 ford flareside 5.8 when I give it gas going down the road it will sound like it opens up but will not gain any speed at all do you think this could be the problem. Thank you
@@oneTbret213 I checked the part number for the 5.0 and its the same part number as the 5.8 sensor , So should have same pin connector location . Not sure if wiring colors are the same . If you need wiring colors let me know,
Hello i have a f 250 351w 4 x 4 5.8l that i am getting carbon fouling on all 8 plugs 30 minutes after changing them. I have a new fuel filter.. Fuel pressure regulator... I have checked all my vaccum hoses. I am in an area where i have not been successful at recuiting knowledgeable mechanics. Please help.
Hard to diagnose over the computer but I'll give it a shot , First how does it run , does it miss out , doses it idle bad , smoke , can you smell raw fuel from exhaust , does the engine light come on when driving . any and all info will help .
@@heartlandmechanic well when you accelerate it bogs down like it is getting to much fuel. It idles fine with no signs of missing. I have had it stall out also on acceleration. When i replaced the fpr no fuel come out of the release valve but it had set over night. Not sure about the dash light . i am working on it here and there inbetween 16 to 17 hr days.
@@garyhagger6665 A few things to look at . MAP sensor , Intake air temperature sensor , coolant temperature sensor , all 3 can cause rich problem . If you have a vacuum gauge install it on a vacuum line , If you don't have at least 17 inches of vacuum suspect plugged exhaust or a timing issue .
Backstory: Wasn’t running right. Would start up fine and run perfect when it was cold but when it warmed up it would flood itself and stall. Wouldn’t start again until it cooled down. Parked it and it sat for 3 years. Current: Same problem but now it misfires. Only thing that’s weird is that it won’t even warm up (according to cluster) so it’s not stalling. Check engine light comes on after about 5 minutes of running and that’s when it starts running rough. Also feels like it’s in limp mode and has no torque.

I couldn't help but notice a pretty big air leak. you must have a hell of a compressor. I'm currently changing a TPS on a 1989 F250 4x4.

Try your map sensor could have water in it !!
How are you getting live data on obd1 ? 1994 is obd1

So I have same exact setup truck just 1995. Was driving made it about 18 mins from the house and truck completely died on me. It’s a 1993 5.0 f150

On the driver side under the hood against the firewall. You will see the small connection harness.

could be the problem . If it is a bad TP sensor it will turn the engine light on and would have stored a code in the computer .

'94 f150 4.9L starts fine but once in gear it has no power and sputters-just installed new fuel pump,tps sensor,map air/temp sensor...

My 96 had a vacuum leak
Backstory: Wasn’t running right. Would start up fine and run perfect when it was cold but when it warmed up it would flood itself and stall. Wouldn’t start again until it cooled down. Parked it and it sat for 3 years.

I had that problem and it would start cold but not hot ended up being my coolant temperature valve and it runs great and starts up great now
