Dealer add-ons bring up the first edition to $80k+?! Defeats the purpose of making the Land Cruiser cheaper. The previous model was $90k but you got so much more and it was indestructible. I wouldn't go to that dealership because of the greedy add-ons.
I agree with you 100%. Local dealer in San Jose quoted me $88k. I will buy a 2 year old Mercedes for half the price and I am still head with a luxurious super safe car and more options.
I walked into the Toyota dealer and saw a new First Edition on the floor fully loaded. I drove it home the same day. I placed an order for the Lexus equivalent, a GX 550, last April. After waiting six months I chose the Landcruiser instead. Great choice.👍
I was excited about possibly getting one of these till I found out you can't put more than 120lbs in the back without damaging the batteries. That's a deal breaker.
I own a 2009 Land Cruiser LC200 w/ ~190,000 miles and I've seen others with 300-400k on the clock. What're the chances the 300 series has the same reliability? Bc I am not seeing it.
I checked on the official website, and there are a lot of differences where you are saying it has, but on the manual, it does not. For example, there is no Android/iOS auto support, no drive assist, and some automatic options in trail mode.
Going with the first edition simply for the power passenger seat… I like to sit back and let my wife drive so i need the powered passenger seat… But this should of been standard on the land cruiser, especially for that price or they should at least make an option to upgrade the seats.
I don't get why the 1958 hybrid edition has the same gas mileage as the landcruiser (23), I thought the point of the electric motor was to provide better gas mileage
This vid shows-did not know the lower than 1Addition trim don’t have the driver assist tools for watching drivers attentiveness and beeps at you. Learned something new. I do not want my car telling me that or having to turn it off at each start-up
You need to show which model are you talking about, at the bottom of the video, because it is easy for the viewers to get mixed up as to which model you're referring to 🤔
Next year toyota is releasing a new Land Cruiser Trim that will ditch the hybrid, add panoramic roof, heated rear seats, and 3rd row seating. It will take the place of the 1st sucker....errrr 1st edition.
@ToyotaJeffReviews Will it be possible to swap out the headlights on the LandCruiser trim with the round headlights? I've seen this suggested on some forums and would like to confirm.
Does anyone know how much the battery & electric motor add to the weight of the vehicle? Im not crazy about the extra weight & the room it takes up in the cargo area? I like the Land Cruiser but the return on gas mileage & extra hp does not justify the extra weight & cost. Too bad Toyota doesn’t give you any options.
I drove a 1958 recently, and 55k is way too much to pay for that thing. Id be okay paying 35k for it. It just feels cheap. The past Land Cruisers were 90k because they were designed to last for 30 years, they were well equipped, and were much bigger. These new ones are the size of a 4Runner, and the 1958 is not well equipped. I thought I'd be okay with that, but I'm not. The cheap, rattly plastics are terrible. Most importantly, there's no way that 4 cylinder hybrid is going to last for 30 years. I don't mind a bare bones utilitarian vehicle, but for that price, it's unacceptable. I was really looking forward to this vehicle, but I'm super disappointed.
“Boom boom let’s go back to my room” 😂 I’m surprised the LC edition doesn’t come with a sunroof. I’m sure that will change within a few years. I’m still very excited for this. Thank you Toyota for bringing this back at a more affordable price. We were all sad when it left and asked for it back. Of course now that it’s back the haters are complaining about it. They always do. lol
German cars are the most unreliable cars on the road. That is why almost every last one you see are leases. No one buys Volvo. Probably one of the most uncool cars on the road.
The Land Cruiser is a higher end vehicle than the Lexus. The Land Cruiser name alone and resale value brings a significant premium. Lexus is for cackling real estate agents smelling of Liz Claiborne perfume who lease them and try to keep up on payments.
@@georgetown8986 you mean the Land Cruiser 300 series. Lets not get confused here because this thing has NO significant premium to it. Not all that plastic on the front, not the thin plastic inside and definetly doesn’t even sound premium either. There was no previous model in the USA. 300 series is bigger than this. This is 200 series aka Prado aka land cruiser in Europe.

At first I didn’t like the 1958 but it’s nice how simple it is and it does remind me of the older models. Maybe I can get one in a couple years.
Just as well buy a new one. Landcruisers don't depreciate much at all.....
I sat in a base model with dealer add ons and they were asking $80,000. Please make it make sense! Cloth seats and hard plastic interior.
All trims have value, but I think I would go with the Landcruiser. I like the square headlights and softex seats. Thanks Jeff!!

Believe me I love the old version of land cruiser
Adding leather seats to the 1958 is under $3K. Well worth it if you’re looking at the 1958 trim
Only extras I'd be getting would be the tires and the floor mats everything else is a bunch of hoo-ha
