Very well done with humor speckeled in there. It was at Ipaws that I realized it warranted a comment and a like. Maybe you should buy more vehicles or get access to them for review because this is better than most reviews I've seen on the Land Cruiser.
I have owned three Land Cruisers over the past 20 years. When Toyota stopped making them, I bought a new Sequoia. Now that LC is Back, I just bought one and love the added space in the rear, as I do not need a third row. Love my new LC! Bye Bye Sequoia! Oh, one last thing: the step-up bar to get into the LC should be lower.
@ totally agree and when it had a oil leak it was just the valve covers and the half moon plugs. But now timing chain cover leak in my 4 runner much more work but that’s life
Thank you for making a very reasonable yet entertaining review rather than parroting the same tired talking points that get repeated over and over on all the other channels. Agree about the Nori Green BTW.
My 2010 4Runner gets the same MPG... I would buy a Land Cruiser if it was NOT a hybrid. That hump for the battery in the back bothers me a lot. Crossing my fingers for a nice used GX550 in a couple of years off lease. :D Thanks for the video and nice job!
worth pointing out that you can in fact adjust the heads up display, just hold enter on the HUD option in the menu and then you can move it around, change how bright it is and change what it displays.
You are going to be a top 5 car review channel in 5 years - congrats in advance. I watch way more TH-cam car reviews than my wife says is healthy and you are going to crush it. If I were you, I’d consider rebranding while the channel is still in its early days to something that reflects your subtle humor delivery and is a bit more mainstream / algo friendly. Also want to future proof in case you someday switch up and sell either the Ram or Land Cruiser. With content like this you will have success regardless, but my hunch is that a rebrand would turbocharge your subscriber growth.
100% the most accurate review I've seen on this vehicle. This channel should be at 1M subs just for this. But, it sounds like the GX460 would have suited you guys a little better.
The GX 550 is faster, but I have never gotten above 12 MPG in 10,000 miles. I also get some engine rattles and buzzing from the 3.4TT V6 that isn't there in the Land Cruisers.
Your review is truly honest and way more reliable (and entertaining) compared than Hagerty's bs, and that without spending thousands on dollars on production and dull childish humour. You have convinced me about getting one for my family. The only thing I'll need is to have 4x money of what I have at this very moment. Third world problems I guess.
Don't like the lack of 5.7l motor, but I really love the retro inspired design. Reminds me of SUVs from the 1980's. Would have one if I could afford one.
@@jeffreyfitch1006 Yes, and it was quite a bit bigger if I recall. This is basically a Prado. Not even sure if a V8 would fit properly in this. I'm not making excuses for it, but I always thought the spirit of the Prado was 4 cylinder and tinny doors. But maybe not the hybrid and high price tag lol
This is one of the BEST and most practical reviews of the Land Cruiser out there. Doug's review is surprisingly childish, but I suppose that's his personality.
You are 100% on point brother. I have the new LandCruiser as well and absolutely love it. Sure a couple of things I don't like but overall I love it!!!
Honda Passport and Pilot doors sound best. Honda interior space, fit and finish, MPG are all better for much less. I'm ready to buy a new SUV but can't find anything better than my Honda overall.
This vehicle has a completely different target though. The Passport is a unibody vehicle. Interior space will be better, just like the interior space in a Highlander will be better than this. If it does everything you need it to, then why would you be be looking to step up to this in the first place?
Does the hybrid really effects the MPG? Many says it doesn't. And i believe it adds more points of failure that will reduce its overall expected lifespan.
Really great review! I don’t get the criticism of the power plant either. I’ve been driving Toyota V8s for the last 20 years and this sophisticated I4 Hybrid is what excites me and makes me want one. That 2.4 Kw inverter in the cargo bed is another huge bonus. I understand you Judy!
I’ve seen quite a lot of reviews on this car and this one is probably the best one. Funny, on point, no bs. Just a comment on the Landcruiser debacle: just watch the care car nut and you will be surprised how well this car is actually built and all the thoughtful design choices. Also you can recognize a man of taste when he’s listening to AIR.
It’s not so much that the high load floor is a hassle, it’s just that it encroaches on rear cargo space. It’s like the stupid slide out tray in my 4Runner.
This cracked me up! The call out to virtue signalers was priceless. As a PROUD.new Landcruiser owner, I appreciated this review and agree with your conclusions. I'd encourage us all to care less what others think. If you love it, feel free to love it.
As an owner of a 250, I think you 100% nailed this review. I don’t disagree with anything in your video. I do not feel the engine is underpowered. The hybrid always kicks in when you need the torque, at any speed when you press the accelerator it jumps. Laughed so much at you mimicking the haters!
Great video. I just watch some other TH-camr's magnificent Hollywood-like produced video bashing the LC250 with all the same tired talking points we've heard before. Your video was so much more entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
If the hybrid only gets 19MPG then what is the point of a hybrid 4 cylinder? To be less reliable thus taking it in to the dealer more to make the company more $$?
Brilliant sketch comedy style review. Loved it. Entertaining and realistic at the same time. Agree with everything thay you have said. Got my LC premium three months back and have 0 regrets. Cheers and Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
If the LC hybrid is only giving you 19 MPG (ouch), then what would you recommend, that is big, handles well in the snow, has available parts & can take a girl into the backcountry? TY for your self-aware humor❣️
Love the video. Dry humor, too. The buying criteria you laid out as almost identical to ours. Problem: I can’t convince my wife how important durability is (she drives a jeep grand Cherokee despite thousands in repairs since 2020). Can you ad a repair guy please enlighten us on the benefits of a Land Cruiser mechanical durability? I’m pleasantly surprised by your comments on the power, comparing it to a hemi in torque

Great review but you definitely got something wrong. The location of the HUD (heads up display) is very adjustable. When I got mine I could barely see it. Making a few simple adjustments can set it up so the shortest of people can see it without issues. It definitely takes some time to sort out all the tech and I’m still learning.
@@RamCruiserOverlandjust found out “mine” blue and java premium package is on a boat (left Japan Dec 12). Dealer worked out trade to get it and not $82k but a hair over $70 will get it in 3 to 6 weeks.
Nice review. I was team LC, but after back to back test drives with the GX, I put a deposit down and receive an OT+ in Atomic Silver. It also comes in a few weeks. I wanted to love the LC and after multiple test drives just could not enjoy the 4cyl. Power was fine, but noisy and unrefined for the price. I wish Toyota tuned the hybrid for more efficiency or offer the 3.4TT from the GX as an option. I was also disappointed in the MPG..all were averaging 17-19 driving very easy. (tested 3 total LC, 1 1958 and 2 PP LC trims) . GX is worse, but I'll deal with it as the powertrain felt better and was smooth, quiet, similar to my GX460 from years ago. You really can't go wrong, both are fantastic rigs. I do think Toyota has a pricing problem as they are stacking up on the dealership lots I visited. Too close to the GX pricing wise and many are going Lexus. Lexus demand is red hot for now and I'm having to buy out of state to avoid waiting months. With the 4Runner coming now with the same powertrain I'm curious how they all will sell.
Haven't Prado 4 cylinders always been noisy and unrefined? I guess that doesn't mean you have to like it, but a rough 4 banger does fit the Prado name historically.
@Juror-45 it did not feel solid, in Thailand I have a LC 300 I imported from Laos and the truck keeps the heritage, it come with a 1GR-FE since it is an Arab spec, the lc 250 does not feel robust and reliable, maybe other ppl like it but not for me in the states. I can't find anything close to my two 5th gen 4 runners. There isn't anything like it in the us unfortunately.
I like the exterior and interior a lot- especially since they kept a lot of physical controls (much more so than the GX550 variant whose interior lacks by contrast). It's the 4 cylinder drivetrain that I couldn't bring myself to get behind. This should have been a V6 but they didn't put it in there just so they could differentiate from the new GX550. I'm 40 and maybe just starting to show my age, but I don't want a boosted 4 cylinder pulling a 5,000+ pound vehicle let alone up to 6,500 GVWR. I thought it was silly when small displacement engines were getting put in 4,000-4,500 pound vehicles but this is just absurd. The complexity of the drivetrain in terms of long term ownership and repairs is unjustified when you look at the poor gas mileage tradeoff. They advertise fake news MPG for most of these turbo vehicles when you have to be completely out of boost to achieve it- the vehicle is then a slug and grossly underpowered. There's no benefit to this drivetrain over a (turbo) V6 or a V8 in real world driving; you're getting just as bad of MPG and it'll be less reliable than NA while also more expensive to repair. For buyers who are swapping out vehicles every few years none of this may matter, but subjectively I still don't want a rattley little 4 cylinder pulling a vehicle of this size.
maybe because I have one too, but I think this is a much better review, in terms of information than the Hagerty review - beautiful video footage, great history coverage but overal critique is pretty short-sided and in my opinion hypocritical.
@@MrCoastalChris my biggest issue with that review is that he says the engine is severely underpowered and rough. Which IMO it just isn’t. Yes you can hear that it’s a 4 cylinder but it has plenty of power
It's a land cruiser for sure, just definitely not the best one. It very well could be the best one if Toyota gives it proper off-road goodies. If they give it E-KDSS, better approach/departure/breakover angles, and more clearance. It absolutely can be incredible and it likely will be in future models; just not yet. It took just one year for the GX to improve it's clearance. There is no way Toyota/Lexus will release their top spec'ed off-roaders the first year of production in the U.S. They have a minimum of 10 years of growth/refinement that needs to happen with their entire line.
Thanks for the sharkasm! I have an old 2006.5 FJ Cruiser 2WD that just won’t ever die or break anything. It goes anywhere and is the Cheapest to insure. $45 a month I think all the new Toyotas are about 15% over priced. I have the cash, I just can’t spend it on unproven engines and transmissions. The only solid motors now are the hybrid and plug in hybrid RAV4, new A25A from about 2020, 2021 in rav. We will wait for consumer reports and maybe get a used one later, maybe a 4Runner limited not hybrid. That one has a full time AWD option with cameras. Don’t ruin that one vehicle!! lol thanks!
I'm curious how you got the music app to go full screen? Looked everywhere and I can't get rid of the split screen.

Very well done with humor speckeled in there. It was at Ipaws that I realized it warranted a comment and a like. Maybe you should buy more vehicles or get access to them for review because this is better than most reviews I've seen on the Land Cruiser.
2:09 Couldn't stop laughing for a minute.
Man, such a subtle hilarious presentation 😅 - love it!
Man… this is the most awesome review of land cruiser I have seen. Love it.
@@appala appreciate it. Thanks for watching!

@@Rodamus22 thanks for watching, and subscribing! 😊
Years ago I was in Asia Prado pulled in we pop the hood and the awesome 5vz was in there. One of my favorite engines that Toyota put out .
@@Jlb-fz7nl that is a great engine
@ totally agree and when it had a oil leak it was just the valve covers and the half moon plugs. But now timing chain cover leak in my 4 runner much more work but that’s life
Don’t get it wrong. The “hybrid” in this vehicle is not for fuel economy but torque assist for the small motor they put in.
Your tonality is perfect for a channel- and that is coming from a master sales exec. Keep up the good work.
This is the only guy who gets it. Great review! - Fellow owner
Love your humor. I’m a fan!
Thank you for making a very reasonable yet entertaining review rather than parroting the same tired talking points that get repeated over and over on all the other channels. Agree about the Nori Green BTW.
@@vdoggma5405 thanks for watching! Those GXs do look good going down the road 😍
Love the review and the humour, thank you from Australia.
I love the style of this review... subscribed!
The success of this video definitely gives me things to think about in terms of the channel. I didn't set out to do reviews, but.....
Great, real review. Thanks. Cheers!
100% the most accurate review I've seen on this vehicle. This channel should be at 1M subs just for this. But, it sounds like the GX460 would have suited you guys a little better.
I think this looks 10X better than 4runner
I own one of these, and this is a great review, very thorough! Nice work.
The GX 550 is faster, but I have never gotten above 12 MPG in 10,000 miles. I also get some engine rattles and buzzing from the 3.4TT V6 that isn't there in the Land Cruisers.
Your HUD is absolutely adjustable. Go into the HUD menu. You can adjust brightness and the viewing angle. Hope this helps. I love my Land Cruiser.
Has the Prado ever had a V8?
@ytj22 No, the Prado hasn't. But for 24 years, the Landcruiser we got in the U.S. had a V8 engine.
Love the deadpan humor, haha. Thanks for the thorough video.
This is one of the BEST and most practical reviews of the Land Cruiser out there. Doug's review is surprisingly childish, but I suppose that's his personality.
We are considering an LC, but she wants to drive a new 4Runner, so we are waiting. I loved your review!
@@ghostplyr6346 im definitely curious to see the new 4Runner in person too
You are 100% on point brother.
I'm thinking of maybe possibly getting one when you mentioned the forest green that would be a nice color with a tan interior
Nice review. I didn’t know this Hybrid can average 19.2, I expected much better than that, and having to gas up every 300 is in issue.
Great Video buddy. I purchased the 2025 premium also. FYI the heads up display is fully adjustable. 👍🏽
Excellent review - love the sense of humour!
A much improved torque curve
@@jwalesoutlaw3294 - sure, at low speeds. 0-60mph in 8 seconds is weak compared to specs. This engine is anemic on the highway.
It's a great emergency power generator that other cruisers don't have.

Entertaining and realistic at the same time.
Agree with everything thay you have said.
Got my LC premium three months back and have 0 regrets.

I own a 2025 Land Cruiser Premium 250 as well. I really like it too. Also I really really like the 2400w Power in the back, Super Slept on feature.
Cool vibe. Love my FE. Great presentation.
@@MichaelBrowers thanks for watching!
I installed Canvas back on the Back of my land cruiser for the sides, Might help keep dog fur out of the intake area since it comes with a little screen area there
Great honest review. I’m debating over the LC250 or wait till the GX550H arrives. Apparently they land in North America next year.
I have a 2015 Lexus 460 with 367.000 miles and I was thinking to replace it for the 550 but I don't think it will get more than 100.000 trouble free miles and I think this LC it about the same and man what a awesome 4x4 the LC & 550
You can change radio stations on the steering wheel. Change the source as well. Also, the Ram doesn’t have a sunglasses holder either 😢
Great review but you definitely got something wrong. The location of the HUD (heads up display) is very adjustable. When I got mine I could barely see it. Making a few simple adjustments can set it up so the shortest of people can see it without issues. It definitely takes some time to sort out all the tech and I’m still learning.
Awesome review! Hopefully there will be more. Also, Judy sounds like she must be protected at all costs.
Spot on! Excellent (funny) content.
Omg the end!! 😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nailed it!!
We’re looking for the right one, heritage blue, java interior, premium package
@@RonL-y3v we actually looked at one just like that to see the java interior. The dealer wanted 82k for it!
@ not going to get $82k from me, we got two dealers near us charging msrp which is ok.

@@RamCruiserOverlandjust found out “mine” blue and java premium package is on a boat (left Japan Dec 12). Dealer worked out trade to get it and not $82k but a hair over $70 will get it in 3 to 6 weeks.

@@RobFrasketi-m8u she got them on Amazon. Under the brand Lallker. “2 PCs seat back protector pad for 2024-Present Land Cruiser”
Right on. Thank you.
I guess that doesn't mean you have to like it, but a rough 4 banger does fit the Prado name historically.
one of the best reviews I've seen so far. Greetings from Germany.....
I've traded mine already after 5 months of ownership, a totally dissatisfied. I will keep my 22 and 23 4 runners
Do tell! What weren’t you happy with?
@Juror-45 it did not feel solid, in Thailand I have a LC 300 I imported from Laos and the truck keeps the heritage, it come with a 1GR-FE since it is an Arab spec, the lc 250 does not feel robust and reliable, maybe other ppl like it but not for me in the states.
I can't find anything close to my two 5th gen 4 runners. There isn't anything like it in the us unfortunately.
FYI the HUD is adjustable. You do have to dig through the menus. Good video btw!
BEST REVIEW EVER
you had me at "handgun and beaver nuggets."
Just the essentials
That‘s why I bought a Hilux Invncible with 2.8 D in 2023 😊 Great stuff without all that Schickimicki in it 😢
Hilarious! Love the review. Great job
maybe because I have one too, but I think this is a much better review, in terms of information than the Hagerty review - beautiful video footage, great history coverage but overal critique is pretty short-sided and in my opinion hypocritical.
@@MrCoastalChris my biggest issue with that review is that he says the engine is severely underpowered and rough. Which IMO it just isn’t. Yes you can hear that it’s a 4 cylinder but it has plenty of power
TOP review mate, thank you!
We have the same trim. This is the only review I agree with. Pros and cons but amazing vehicle.
@@brianmcquinn5897 we love it besides a few quirks
Thanks for the sharkasm!
I have an old 2006.5 FJ Cruiser 2WD that just won’t ever die or break anything. It goes anywhere and is the Cheapest to insure. $45 a month
I think all the new Toyotas are about 15% over priced.
9:42 I've heard this criticism on many reviews of the 2024 LC, and I agree that it certainly _sounds_ hollow and cheap in the videos. I bought a 2025 LC in the same trim as you fully expecting to hate that sound, but was pleasantly surprised to hear it does not sound that way at all. I think they did something to fix that issue in the 2025 model. It's either that or I'm living in denial. 😂
I am curious about this also. The way it sounds in the video is exactly like all the Landcruisers of the past. LC doors, especially the Prado, have never had a "thud" so not sure why people expect it should have a "thud" now.
A mat wrap would be so good! I would totally do that.
Some have said the AC is meh. Wondering what you have experienced with it being black and in Texas. I'm in florida and the LC is high on my shortlist.
