1:11 This is because the building used to be a site of a victory point. I think big buildings were also meant to be points for archers to rain down physics projectiles (i.e. arrows), but the feature was cut for some reason (perhaps time constraints, game-breaking bugs or balancing issues).
No need to spam orders for pikes, just click the unit while in phalanx attack mode, and put there destination behind enemy unit. They get run through quickly
Forgot about #'s 1, 4, and 7, and didn't know about #'s 3, 5, and 6. I particularly like #3. I kind of wish there had been more buildings like that. I like having my troops in cool defensive positions. Or could you imagine if we had been able to put skirmishers on rooftops or something? Of course, it'd probably have been screwed on launch, and it'd be something you'd only do once the enemy had taken your walls or during a minor settlement battle, but still.
+Total War Zone I knew about the infinite agents thing. One of the many things i didnt like about Rome 2. Planning on making any 10 things about attila or something? :) Like top best faction?
7 => The trick is to make fleets of artillery (because they are the best ship in the game) and to disembark the general when the morale start dropping. The general unit is generaly quite heavy and can survive until the end of the timer and if it is not the case just disembark all the other units and you should win
I've been using the attack command with pike's. Noticed that when I pressed it they made like a little "charge" and instantly killed a bunch of people. But I had no idea of the Merging :O Been so irritated for not having a merge option and now after 400 hours of game time, you say how. haha :D
That eastern building you can get on it.. hold on, why didn't someone though about this... It has a function, a function that allows units to get in it just like on walls, why not put that function on most buildings in the game? Like a mod, like...that greek map where it's a rock, and there are buildings on it, yeah, why not give it the function that the eastern building has? Or in cities, with flat roofs, they can have it too, but I doubt it would hold more than one unit of archers Like, you can defend the cities from building to building, put a group of archers in it, then some melee units around it to defend it
I actually knew about 8. In fact, if you can pull it off and get a ton of spies, and I do mean a ton, you can do the agent spam method by poisoning soldiers and get every unit down to the red before you attack. Try it! You'll feel like an AI! Just worse! (I found this out because I was so pissed at AI agent spam I decided to solve the problem. What happened was I learned manipulation had a higher % chance. Maybe it's just positive outcome only, but still hilarious)
What most people don't know you can have up to 100 units with editsf if your computer can handle it. With DEI I'm fighting 16,000 vs 24,000 battles. Battles with this take 30min-1 hours.
Unlimited agents - perhaps some path changed it because when u reach your limits the manipulated extra enemy agent is killed instead of joining your ranks. Since manipulating has a much more higher chance of success than killing, I use that to kill enemy agents more easily
I had a question I want to give my PC upgrade but it must be suitable for rome total war 2. So I would be allowed to know what processor and video card you have Greetings jelle
Uh for number 7, I've won numerous battles because I had a full fleet against enemy land forces, and I just landed one or two of the ships if my troops started wavering, which reset the "we don't have any land units" mentality. This, by the way, was for one hour long defenses too.
When attacking the city of Athens the Parthenon very rarely shows up. Does anyone know why this happens? Do you have to wait until the Athenians build a certain structure?
I've known about cntrl M before but for some reason sometimes my guys won't merge. Any idea what's going on? And yes I am trying to merge the same type of units together
i won a battle against carthage as rome doing the naval camping. I lost all 4000 of my inf to their 7000 men but i had my fleet still. I realized only 5 mins where left in the battle and it was a regular beach battle not a siege. My men started to waver but the ai started walking all over the map so i docked a ship and they stopped wavering. You need to have atleast one unit on the ground to stop the wavering so with a big fleet you can run down the clock.I won but i only had 4 mins left to run out.
So, important question: If you merge two units of differing ranks (experience), what happens? Do they merge to the high rank, the low rank or does it find a center?
why does everybody try to use pikes with the renaissance era push of pike tactic rather than the way Alexander the Great used in the hammer and anvil where the pikes pin enemies down as the anvil and using a high damage unit like shock cavalry, javeliners or swordsmen as the hammer by attacking the tied down enemy on the flank or better in the rear
*3 years later* the scale of battles in this game aren't enough to realistically set up a hammer and anvil. Usually, any cavalry you have are countered by enemy Cavalry. Also, units in real life will break after 20% casualties while units in TW only break after 80% or more casualties. That latter point is actually one of the biggest flaws in TW games. Battles yield extremely high casualties for both sides regardless of who the victor is. This also makes hammer and anvil tactics wildly less effective in game because you'll lose your hammer (cavalry) long before the enemy units actually routs.
@@speakdino10 I’ve crushed an elite unit of oathsworn with two legionaries units one from the front and one from the back which resulted in me losing like 1-2 guys before the enemy broke. If you’re fighting head on and it says “combat even” then yeah you’re gonna lose men at roughly the same rate. I try not to put my men into positions that they can’t win decisively
@@Constance_tinople Hey there! Glad to continue the yearly response thread hahah. I agree. I usually try my utmost to avoid evenly matched armies/units. Although, I've never had an enemy unit, especially Oathsworn, rout without substantial casualties even with front and rear charging units you mentioned. Slightly related note, this is why I greatly like the Darth Mod for Empire TW. In that game, units can rout after 10% casualties, and chain routing becomes a very real and dangerous reality if you're not careful. And if the enemy doesn't have cavalry to chase you down, casualties are significantly less. I don't remember if Divide et Impera for Rome 2 does the same.
@@speakdino10 I’m glad we can have such a nice discussion! I’ll have to check it out however I’m not sure. I think the reasons the elite units I face can rout so fast is that I usually harass them prior to the engagement with as much pilum/ slinger fire possible as well as them usually being the last unit to engage thus already suffering the “army losses” penalty. I do remember one time pulling off a Cannae against an Egyptian force which resulted in their pikemen panicking due to not having one direction to face
What I hate about Total war rome 2, is that people say the AI sucks, which is correct, but there are a shit ton of mods to improve that, then you've got DeI, the cheat mods, unit mods, (like the etuscan mod which i enjoyed) and then there's the mods like Constantine: rise of Christianity, and also a mod, which let's you play in historical places like cannae! stop hatting rome 2, and get some freaking mods!
Guys i have an issue that around the time when the fighting starts in a multiplayer battle both players lose connection and there is a text saying that we desynced. I would be very very gratefull for someone who got a fix for this problem. :D
simontigerhajen I had that before. I fixed it by removing the Rome 2 folder in appdata/roaming/thecreativeassembly You will lose your saves by doing this though so you should back-up them!
A few data ago i was attacked in a city by a massive army where i only had a small navy and i won even though they captured everything.. Yes my ships started to surrender BUT that was when It was 55 minutes in or so. So i headed to shore far from the city and then my whole fleet stopped to surrender. And when the timer ran out i won.. they tried the same for many turns until my army arrived.. lol
2 more things some people don't know. 1. You can upgrade all of your units at the same time instead of 1 at a time. Use ctrl and click the just the units you want, or hold down shift and click two units (all the units in between will highlight). While a lot of people know this, I'm always surprised to watch TH-cam videos and see players click one at a time. 2. You can cycle through the provinces by clicking the little arrow next to the province window. Again, many people (should) know this but there's even an elite TW gamer that doesn't do this in his different TW games and spends long minutes looking around when he could simply go province by province.
I knew number 3 every bulçding that has those entrances can be used like the ones with rome and greece I think but WOW I'VE PLAYED TOTAL WAR SINCE ROME AND NEVER KNEW THAT YOU COULD MERGE UNITS!!! (Still pointless cuz once healed you have 2 units and back in Medeival II it was good to keep and army adn economy in shape). Naval camping was possbible before update and I couldn't do it always found it to be too cheap agaisnt AI (but the fleet shouldnt die upon defeat c'mon the sea isnt blocked by ghosts neither swimming around the city coast to block the entrance). Number 5 I would like to know this behaviour with other units.
Babylon by the time of rome 2 was largely abandoned, with most of population moved to Seleucia-on-Tigris. Realistically Babylon should initially in the game would be a minor settlement with Secleucia being not just the capital of the province but also the capital of the Seleucid Empire. I liked Europa Barbarorum mod for Rome 1 for its serious research and excellent at balancing fun gameplay and historical accuracy, its much better at this than both Rome 2 and Rome 1
I mean you can get post Marian reform legionaries 200+ years before they actually existed so I don’t think the primary goal is historical accuracy, which it shouldn’t be in all honesty. I think historical authenticity is better for games like total war where they do the best they can while reserving creative freedom to make the game fun
rebellions arent bad as long as they arent showing up every turn^^ but the primary reason the multiple rebellion bug appears is ussualy due to hostile agents

Navy attacks on coastal towns are op in Attila in that you can attack over and over with arti at no loss of men and ended all battles in a draw.

Eric Nordyk I'm really not a pc expert, so you're better off looking somewhere else, but the Graphics Card looks like a problem to me! Check out some forums, the minum specs, etc.! :)
Eric Nordyk yes probably, but it won't be the best. It'll just be ok

Glacier Slayer what is merging
***** merging is when you select 2 units and move the majority of one unit into another in order to consolodate and have one stronger unit rather than one weak one
Glacier Slayer holy fuck. can I do this on the mid of an battle? to help the morale of an unit?
