@@TotalWarfare This didn't go as planned. I did exactly same opening moves as you but Athens never attacks my fortified army. Is there something I am missing?
Maybe you have different mods on which could change AI behaviour? If not and you did everything exactly the same it could be RNG - maybe they only attack 50% of the time in this exact scenario
love how your a tactical fighter and how you strategize your units, unlike other streamers your the only one i’ve seen that utilize strategy over brute force
Honestly no, but it was a bit of a blitz. The ai is easy to trick into favorable situations where as sparta you can mostly defend in cities as you go (especially after your selucid campaign and seeing the lack of awareness on the ai's part charging cav head long into pikes). It was kind of a themed campaign where I didn't care about culture or city management. Built barracks in every city for the garrison and made sure to have at least 10 food min but not really any more. Money was easy with all the battles. Given the lack of variety in troops i focused on royal spartans with pikes on the flanks, and 4 to 6 citizen horse to flank the skirmishers on the enemy side. The royal spartans are decent in hand to hand whereas pikes aren't so much. late game I tend to only have a couple of ranged for melee horses. I did have a couple of stacks with out range at all for aggressive sieging.@@TotalWarfare
Yeah, AI is easy to trick, I wish it actually got smarter at higher difficulties rather than just getting OP bonusses to everything. Sounds like you found a winning formula with Sparta. Were Royal Spartans worth it? Compared to regular Spartan Hoplites they have slightly better stats for massively higher upkeep. As long as money is still an issue
Spamming them isn't worth it but I have 2 to 4 depending on the stack to form my middle with regular Spartans either side. Stats aside they hold longer. I put them slightly forward and they tied down a good number of enemy infantry and flank with the rest of the line.
Their armor is better and the royals provide a moral boost to troops around them. They hardly rout and come back quick if shocked. A must have , at least a couple, in any late game stack
I just found your channel, great video! At 27:09, I think you should have took Larissa and built level 2 barracks and camp, that would have given you a garrison of 4 pikes, 2 cav, 2 slingers. With a general and couple of additional units it would have been worth it to keep
Good you're staying vigilant! I actually restarted these kinds of campaigns multiple times for exactly this reason! But here I edited out actual declaring of wars but if you check 13:59 & 29:48 it's the same 13 wars at the end of T2 & T4 after the Epirus battle minus Athens who were wiped out in T3
Yeah it's bizarre that you can see a city and even who owns it but still not be in contact with them or have diplomatic relations. It could have to do with both being by the same sea perhaps?
Thanks! Yeah, Legendary has some obscene hidden bonuses for AI - personally I dislike morale boost the most as it makes their units almost unbreakable.

Strategizing is where all the fun is at!
Hell year! Just finished mine. wasn't TITW but near map completion.
Nice one! Did you find lack of strong cavalry and missile units problematic in mid/end game?

Welcome to the channel! Glad you like the videos! Yeah, Larissa is a prime target, we'll get it soon enough
If im seeing correctly you forgot to declare war on some factions in the north before the battle with Epirus.

@@TotalWarfare yes i also saw that :). Im just confused since there are 2 cities in the back who have grey names and not red

The GOAT Rome II
For Leonaidas for sparta
Started mine legendary Sparta yesterday, pretty difficult. Food and money starved constantly and instantly battling Rome off the bat 💀
Sounds like a challenge!
Very promissing campaign. I could do TITW someday, but legendary difficulty is too much cheats for the AI to my liking. Kudo to you for doing it.

You need more army’s
Yeah, and more money to pay for them!
