  • I've been obsessed with Harry Styles outfit from his "Harry's House" Album and I had to try and recreate it for myself! I tried my hand at smocking as well as sewing my very own DIY denim jeans... so some might say that this fun project was a journey!
    Harry’s outfit was designed by Molly Gollard (Spring 22)

    Love the result! 😍 Jeans fabric can be tricky to work with, make sure you take #100-120 needles for smoother stitching. Also, what helped me go through thicker parts is basting the details together and thinning the seam area with a hammer on a wooden block before actual stitching. Hope that's useful :)

      Thank you so much! They certainly got so difficult to sew through when I got to the waistband area even with Denim needles! Also those tips are so helpful - I'll have to try the hammer tip next time. Thank you for watching.

    I love this so much. The very first proper garment I ever made was the pair of white high waisted pants that Harry wore on the Fine Line album cover. At the time, I had never even listened to his music, but my brother wanted to be Harry for Halloween, but now I am obsessed. You have gotten me thinking that I should try to recreate another look!

      You are so brave to start with pants !! But how cool, your brother is so lucky to have such a generous sewing sibling!! I’m sure you could recreate this one easily💖

    It came together so well! Currently working on a knitting project, using up my scrap yarn on a sweater vest... and of course there is the mending pile but I think that'll be for another day

    I absolutely LOVE the energy you bring to your projects! Thank you for sharing. I think my next project is a wrap skirt in this beautiful light cotton. I'm notoriously slow on projects so the goal is to have it done by spring :)

    such a great job recreating this! if you didn't know, it's actually the Iwona top by Molly Goddard. I've been wanting to recreate the Solly dress from the same collection for a while but... that smocking is going to take forever!

    Wauw ! You really did a great Job 🥰 but if this tip could help,.. you can immediatly smock with your machine, just put small elastic thread on your bobbin in the machine, And zigzagstitch 🙂

    • @fromcarlyb
      @fromcarlyb  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh this is so helpful!! I’ll have to try next time! Thank you 💖

      That is a different thing. Smocking with elastic gives a garment that is stretchy. The Style here is really Old fashioned smocking that is done by evenly distributed small pleats which are will be stabilised by decorative visible hand stitching. And the result is a non stretching textile.
      The Idea that you have made to copy the look in a short Time is looking good. If you would like to have more consistence in that space that you gathered you can make tiny pleats, steam in place and sew them down instead of gathering. Or you make a lot of pintucks (vertikal) and than make the decorative stitching horizontally on top

    at the moment working on a traditional arabic dress called (dara'ah\kaftan/mukhawar) depending on where you come from, and it is a challenge creating it from scratch without a pattern when i am just a beginner. it's really pretty though, has some flaws, but i'm letting that happen. haha.

    Wow. Just love that you did this outfit. I love this outfit and been wanting to make it too.
    The zipper fly was very scary for me too. But i’ve made so many pants with fly openings now and i just love the look of it.
    Thanks for being so inpiring ☺️🫶🏼

      I’m glad I’m not the only one initially scared of the zipper fly. It felt so incredible conquering it though! Thank you for watching & let me know if you make this one someday! 💖

    I absolutely love this !! What white cotton fabric would you recommend from spotlight? I bought white cotton lawn fabric but it’s super thin sadly!

    • @fromcarlyb
      @fromcarlyb  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhhh I enjoy the Prima Cotton Homespun from Spotlight - I believe it's a quilting fabric. It's thick enough to use for dresses & it not be too sheer but it's also not as sturdy as the Cotton which comes on the rolls.
