    It was so interesting to see her step mom have more sympathy for Cole. She seemed more comforting and worried about Cole... and when he explained that he didn't try to hurt Zenab, the step mom uttering "I know. I know" many times in a sympathetic way. I totally agree with you about her family members.

      The step mom is controlled by Zanab in a toxic relationship. She subconsciously knows that if she doesn't enable her behavior towards others she will guilt trip her and use other toxic tactics to the point she will regret not agreeing with her.

    Did Cole mess up quite badly a couple times? Yeah he did. Is he a bad person? Definitely not. I believe he's a genuinely good hearted man that has some learning to do in regards to functioning well in adult relationships. Did Zanab have the empathy or maturity to be able to see this? Definitely not. If she really loved him, she would have let him go with grace and respect for the relationship they did have, but instead she made it all about her and her own pain because at the end of the day, narcissists only care about themselves, their own image, and not the real people and real lives around them. Cole might not be ready for marriage yet, but that's the only thing he's guilty of. I can't believe Zanab did that to him.

    I jusst finished binge-watching Season 3 of Love is Blind. Zanab is a stunningly beautiful woman...on the outside. She is a horrible person on the inside. Cole is kind of a man child, but he didn't deserve any of this, especially in front of their wedding guests, and millions of viewers. He looked blindsided and heart broken, and I felt so bad for him. Zanab nit-picked Cole and treated him like shit. Cole dodged a big bullet with that woman, 1000%. Thanks for the analysis videos.

      Yes, exactly! That's why some victims don't know which way's up and which way's down by the time they get out of a relationship with a narcissist. The victim does the exact same thing two days in a row: one day they're complimented, the next day, they're yelled at. The victim is criticised for doing the same thing the narcissist did themselves just an hour ago. Etc. Etc.

    • @thenarcissistwatcher
      @thenarcissistwatcher  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@EmpressEllie If it's any consolation, it's very, very hard to turn the tide once you've already been extensively smeared.
      The friends have had poison slowly dripped in their ears over time. The narcissist got in there first, and people are disposed to believe what they hear.
      Plus, the victim usually presents as frazzled and emotional, ranting and raving about all the things the narcissist did to them. The narcissist is calmer, and can just have an attitude of "I told you they would say that. They're a fantasist".

    The way you describe how she compartmentalizes reminds me of my mom although I'm still not sure if she's actually a narcissist. I felt like I've challenged her a lot growing up because I didn't like that she did things just to "look good" in other people's eyes. Especially when she took credit when people say how good of a kid I was and how capable I was or how she "allowed me" to do things I do. It made me angry because I pretty much grew up by myself alone because she was emotionally absent from my life most of my childhood.

    • @thenarcissistwatcher
      @thenarcissistwatcher  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Great example, and something that often happens with narcissist parents: with the one hand, not nurturing their children properly while, with the other, taking credit for everything good their children do.
      My mother's father did the exact same. He had ZERO interest in her life apart from when she was competing at a diving competition, upon which point he was there doing the rounds of the stands, bragging to the spectators. Suddenly he was the architect of her success.

    • @k8chillx
      @k8chillx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thenarcissistwatcher Thank you for this. You really help clear things up for me. I guess what made me hesitant to identify her as a narc is because she seems to try to be a better person. She tried to be more involved in my life now but I find that I feel like a better person if I don't interact with her as much. There is always something triggering to me when I interact with her.
      I remember reading a comment from you responding to someone else in a different video that you said something to the effect that a narc will try to improve but it's not really sustainable. Even though they tried to be more empathetic, their motives are for themselves and not for the sake of others. My Mom was the type that, to other people, she was captivating and well respected and she took pride in that. But she couldn't feed that off from me because I challenge her constantly. Her only way was to take credits...

    • @thenarcissistwatcher
      @thenarcissistwatcher  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@k8chillx I obviously couldn't comment on your mom specifically without knowing a lot more details and background, but I can talk in generalities.
      Narcissists will respond to incentives, just like anyone else. It's why they sometimes seem to mellow and become nicer with age. For example, it might be that the only way to keep their remaining family members visiting them in their old age is not to be so overtly abrasive. Ultimately, it's still for their own interests.
      I recommend using HG Tudor's Narc Detector because it's important to determine if your mom actually is a narcissist (and if so, which type) before making any decisions. HG is the absolute authority on narcissists, and helped me years ago before I understood any of this stuff.

      Hypothetically if my mom were really a narcissist, and me being the child who challenged a narcissist constantly (I hate being controlled (but I was never a misbehaved child) and I call out when she does or say things that are not true to make herself look good), does it over time, kind of "tone down" a narcissist in a way? Do I detect some histrionic here, too, because that’s just needlessly cruel and way over dramatic, imho. A lot of her behavior shows narcissistic tendencies, but to stage this takedown, to publicly humiliate your fiancé whom you supposedly love with all your heart, and allow family to spend time & money to witness Zenab in 3 Acts, has got to be one of the most un-kind, un-Christianlike things I’ve ever witnessed, though she fancies herself both of those, and she’s the self-described “catch of the century“ 👀
    (Which century is that, exactly?!)
    She’s since then reiterated what a “good man” Cole is, and how she still loves him, yet double-downed on this, not seeing the cavernous disconnect between her words and actions. **Please also talk about her creepily befriending his ex wife, to taunt him on social media, over a year after their brief engagement ended. She shoots herself in the foot in postseason interviews saying her deciding factor was at the altar bc Cole looked terrified. If we’re expected to believe he attempted to cheat (but got a number) and told her about this the night before, you mean to tell me that didn’t seal it for you? This is her story bc she doesn’t want to admit she rehearsed a speech to inflict pain.
    Cole admitted in interviews he told her he was a no at dinner. If Cole had a bachelor party encounter, Zanab could be omitting this detail, and now it becomes a Ross & Rachel on-a-break thing. This cast attacked Bartise for immediately dating following his breakup with Nancy - Cole could have feared similar backlash or lied bc of contractual fears. But the way she pivots off this story, Raven bringing it up & not her, & there being no footage or mention of it in interviews, it makes it less believable. To top it off, she calls him a good guy. Feels like it’s all about painting a narrative that she is a victim that has risen above it all. But despite Cole’s bad edit, I think ppl were still divided bc she was still very mean, and the altar is when ppl turned on her. Then the cuties scene put it over the edge.
