    What is the Kawasaki Versys 650, a dual sport, an adventure tourer, what? Regardless, its mostly adjustable suspension does need to be adjusted properly. Dave does so in this video.

    I have a 2008 Versys 650 with over 45,000 miles on it now. I've also heard about the Yami R1 shock fitting. I wish there was more tuning info in this video.

    Finally a versys setup... Best bike ever that 2nd Gen...

    The R1 shock works really well. I've done it. You do have to change out the spring and have the internal valving changed for it to work properly, both of which can be done for less than and aftermarket brand. Check out Canon Racecraft for spring and then look up a shock valving tech who will work with you.

    Yep, Stock items can be and are fine for the majority of the users.

    Hey Dave, I ride 2 up frequently on my Versys 650. Do I need to increase the rebound with a passenger or just the preload?

    • @damer950
      @damer950 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both.. But Preload mainly

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Preload for sure to get the right sag numbers front and rear. Once spring tension is set, then set rebound correctly with hot shock oil. Also add 3-4psi cold to the front and rear tyres to compensate for the extra weight.

    Doctor moss . I run Michelin pilot power 2ct on my 2008 Suzuki gsxr-750 , have tires come a long way since this one was released ? Also I don’t track ride but go all out on a “closed course “ much like street condition what tire is too notch for this . I ride in newyork state from may - November all hours of the day as hard as I can what is the best tire for all out street performance ?

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great street tire, still current and sought after. For all out riding any hypersport tire with soft edges and firmer middle is preferred.

    Hey Dave, 29% front and 33% rear rider sag sound about right for a dirt bike?

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A little tighter, 30/30 if you are motocross. If trail riding, that would be a great ball park starting point.

      @@catalystreactionsbw Thanks for your reply Dave.
      Yeah I mostly do trail riding. I'd say 70% trail, 30% street. I just fitted the new shock, and fork spring yesterday (CRF300L dualsport).
      Fork: 15mm preload, 18% static sag, 31% rider sag.
      Shock: 12mm preload, 11% static sag, 33% rider sag.
      Any suggestions?

      @@reteptetep5078 Start there and assess travel used by the forks and shock. See if you need to change preload based on travel used.

    Is there any other advice for tuning this bike?

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Set sag at 30-40mm front and rear. See how much fork travel is used. Choose a different viscosity fork oil when you get excessive rebound. Consider lowering the front 4-7mm
