    Just completed the Moto Werks lowering kit in this video. Nice fix to help with my 30 inch inseam. W/O the kit I was toggling back and forth with a shuffle to keep my balance at a stop. With the kit mild shuffle and not at the tip of my toes, much better. Just a note, the video shows the front end adjustment being made from the top of the tubes. According to the instructions from Moto Werks, it is 22mm from the factory settings. The factory settings according to the shop manual is 12mm from the top of the tube. So, I set mine at 33mm. I know it's a mm short, but the instructions also say, not below the smooth ground surface of the fork. This leaves you 1mm before the lined surface of the fork.

    After 7 years you are still answering people’s questions. That’s great man. I’m thinking about getting this versys 650 too but do you think 170cm height would be a problem for this bike without lowering it?

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think there should not be a problem, I tried the Versys and I'm 169cm didn't have any big issues with the standard height. It depends on your comfort, some prefer it lower while some are fine with standard height.
      If I get a notification I will to respond to it.. Thanks for viewing!

    You can Google "Motowerk" and get to the website that sells the lowering kit.

  • @thesighbored
    @thesighbored  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The owner of the bike doesn't do hard cornering, so at the moment no issue with peg scraping.

  • @thesighbored

    "The main kit body, spacer, and washer are all made out of the 6061-T6 Aircraft Aluminum and are clear anodized.
    This makes the kit resistant to corrosion.
    Our patented one-piece-body lowering kit design is stronger than a casted gull-wing of the rear suspension of the bike. The lowering kit comes with all the high quality hardware needed for installation and with easy step-by-step installation instructions."
    Google: Motowerk Versys for more info.

  • @daniel34246
    @daniel34246 ปีที่แล้ว

    Super helpful. I bought a bike second hand that had this lowering kit on it and it is great. Quick question and shooting in the dark whether you will even see this, but do you know if this changes how one adjusts the stiffness of the suspension? I want to make it tighter to allow for rear loads and can't find the preload adjuster, but I saw you tightened the collar at the front of the spring with the grooved shallow teeth and was thinking about that. Thanks

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The standard rear shock itself has adjustable preload where you use the "C" shape tool to adjust it at the upper section with the step like grooves. The lowering link does not change the way you adjust the preload of the shock.. Hope you manage to sort it out.

      It is to keep the motorcycle geometry the same. Since you lower the back, you should also lower the front, otherwise you’ll be more likely to pop wheelies and the ride would be different.

    • @thesighbored
      @thesighbored  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you will need maybe a piece of thick timber/wood to wedge between the underbody and tire while you add the lowering bracket because the suspension will be temporarily detached to install the bracket. Can be done by yourself just make sure the wood is properly wedged in before you remove the suspension bolt.

      It depends on you if you want to get the kickstand kit, once you lower the bike the original kickstand will make the bike has a less lean, so it is more upright and is prone to be knocked over/dropped.
