God: Sri Gangaikonda Choleeswarar also called as Sri Jagannathaeesvarar.

This Gangaikonda Choleeswarar Temple is isolated at the North East Corner of the Village Koozham pandal or Koolamandal, near Kanchipuram. This Siva temple was constructed during Rajendra Chola I (1012 - 1044 A.D.) and built by spiritual Guru Eesana Sivapandithar after the Victory of land up to Ganga by Rajendran-I.
Pedestal at the south side entrance, loose sculptures, including Dakshinamurthy, are installed. Due to the lack of references, other statues are not identifiable.
In the Thiruvannamalai district, one can travel about 18 km from Kanchipuram to reach this beautiful village called Kulamandal.
Like Gangaikonda Choliswaram in Gangaikonda Cholapuram, the same way in the North part of Tamil Nadu, this Gangaikonda Choleeswarar Temple is built.
This Gangaikonda Choleeswarar Temple has the Sanctum Sanctorum, the Artha mandapam, the Aisle, the Mahamandapam, the Nandi pedestal, the Velimandapam, and the Pathway.
The Vimana is built in a circular shape made of Stone. This is called the Vesara Vimana. The Kosta idols are Ganesha, Bhikshatana, Dakshinamurthy, Harihara, Lingodbhava, Brahma, Vishnu, Kartikeya, Brahma, Mahishasura Mardini.
Before Kulottunga I period, very few temples have a separate shrine to the goddess. This Gangaikonda Choleeswarar Temple is also a few of them. And this is also a uniqueness of this temple.
Except in the West, all directions have an entrance. Nandi can be seen on the eastern side of the temple. There is evidence that there was a mandapam behind Nandi. The reason is that the roofless rounded pillars can be seen. The steps on either side of the south gate are very beautifully built.
Inscriptions dating back to the reign of Rajendra Chola to Vijayanagara Venkatapati Raya can be seen here. As per the inscription, Koozhampandal was called Vikramachozhapuram, a part of Jayangonda Chozhamandalathu Kazhiyur Kottathu Baakoor Nadu Gangaikonda Choleeswarar. Vijayanagara period inscriptions mainly speak about the donation of land, Goats, Cows, Gold, etc. The income from the donated land and interest for the money was utilised towards daily poojas, celebrations and the burning of perpetual lamps.
It is a concern that this magnificent temple has escaped the eyes of historians.

Can you make videos on the Esalam temple at Villupuram district, since these two temples are thematically linked and you can come up with a video which will be a masterpiece? Also if you can do a video on the Chokkeeswara/ Kowsikeeswara temple very close to Kamakshi temple at Kanchipuram, that will be great.

The granite temple built by Kulothunga I is near Thakkolam town in Kesavaram village. It is at the source of Koovam river.

@@ChithiramPesuthada See the video made by the TH-camr Sunders temple first. The video was published just 2-3 days back. This temple does not seem to be either a state or centre-protected monument. Just the local villagers are taking care of it. So, shooting a video should not be a problem. This Kesavaram temple is in a very poor shape. My hope is that if good videos are published on this Kesavaram Kulothunga temple, we can put pressure on the authorities so that it is taken over by the state ASI. If that happens, it can be renovated like the Sivapuram temple close to this temple which is being maintained properly by ASI. It should be taken over by ASI before it is too late. For this, good TH-camrs like you and kalai pavan should, through your work, generate enough pressure points so that something is done.

The Jain sculptures on the eastern part of Vallimalai have been well documented and there are many videos on that. Please explore the western part of the hill, which has Jain sculptures of Rajamalla discovered only 6 or 7 years back.

There is a TH-cam channel on temples which has been recently started. It is simply named as 935. They have made some very good videos on temples at Mahabalipuram. They are now publishing videos on temples of Andhra/ Telangana. I am the only subscriber of the channel. You can be the second subscriber!! I like their technique, it is very powerful, even without audio. But I am not saying that your video should not have audio, your audio is very good!

@@ChithiramPesuthada You can incorporate some techniques in the way they are filming temples, even though you are already doing a great job. But as they say, there is always scope for improvement and one can pick up a few things from others.
