But all i wonder is why still it's not getting a proper recognition. There's no doubt for its Architectural Value that it posses. They were quarried more stones then to build a Giza pyramid. And no body can find the granite stone at least 80 kilometres from tanjaauur. And the height of the front structure is 93 meters. Thanjavor temple is amazing.There are so many like this or more amazing in various parts of India.People wonder how these were constructed when modern technology was not available.Even foreign Engineer s who do we the great are at their wits end to explain this. Could it be that names are reversed, father created the smaller temple and son tried creating the bigger one to honour his father and it failed. Generally they try a smaller model first and then scale it up and include exquisite details.
I went to brihadeeswara temple in gangaikonda cholapuram which was built by his son. It's world class and for the record all the temples shrine are built now have model of these Indian kings temples. Proud that Indian kings taught us how glorifying temples should be built.
Please don't misguide people, first of all sanskrit mantras never were a part of it. Secondly it never failed in aesthetics it indeed works miraculously because those with ill thoughts become ill fated whereas those with good values get benefited. It’s not true, every time I go to this temple Tanjore big temple, I feel more good and make more money in my job . I cannot accept this story, the reason for making new temple at jayamkondam should be setting up that place as new capital and that place should be praised as much as Tanjore that’s it.
@@ST-dh5oc the pandiyan invasion happened in different periods, the reason for ew capital is because of both king raja raja chola and his son Rajendra ruled the chola dynasty, also the tanjore is more of residential and farming landscape where you cannot handle such a big Army's and elephant, horse in the surrounding of tanjore, so he was creating a new capital.
I visited this temple and was blown away this also one of the few temples that has not been painted blue and red as with many other south temples. The work is astonishing and once you enter the 4 walls you feel like transported back to 1000 years. Simply brilliant and you can literally walk around the whole day and look at the magnificent work and dedication that has gone into making such a marvel

To be exact, sanskrit based hinduism is not here before 5th century ad. At least, were practiced by brahmins only whom were not the native population. So standardisation does not work here. Such a magnificent temple, master plan by karuvurar sithar and financed by Raja Raja. If you look back at history, the name of raja raja was discovered only in early 19th century, earlier people thought it was buil by Rajendra, also the famous painting in the temple secret chamber is of Rajendra with karuvurar at his father's funeral pyre. Also it baffled historians why Rajendra build small scale of same blue print after 20 years of tanjavur temple. So much has happened during that era. One could easily trace this history
I'll beg to differ, most ancient builders were also great architects, who have had studied from various Universities of Ancient Bharat, and whether they used advance technologies is also debatable, as all Ancient history and knowledge is lost due to Terrorist invasions and all archives of knowledge and University were burnt down. As any Modern architect will first build a model for the project beforehand. Thus it's debatable which temple was built first.

Sad to hear this but it was the truth they say. The temple was constructed over a period of seven years from 1003 to 1010AD, and was completed in the 25th year of Rajaraja's reign. It was conceived by Karuvurar, a yogi and siddha, as a tremendously powerfully energy center, and was financed by Raja Raja Chola in the eleventh century. However, according to historical lore, Rajaraja disagreed with Karuvurar over certain aspects of the temple. It isn't quite clear what the disagreement was about but tales tell of how Rajaraja wished that the kumbabhishekam and inauguration of the temple should take place on a certain date, which Karuvurar disagreed with. Whatever the reason, Rajaraja asked the yogi to leave. Karuvurar had to wash his hands off the whole affair. However, he constructed a little hut in the corner of the temple premises and resided there. When the time came to install the enormous linga into the peetha or avudaiyar, the Chola engineers struggled immensely as the linga wouldn't fit, any which way they tried. Finally, in desperation they approached Karuvurar, who taking his spittoon, spat into it, and handed it to them to place in the peetha before installing the linga. The engineers did as told, and astonishingly, the linga fit. But t was not a happy occasion. Karuvurar's spitting was a symbolic way of saying that the linga was lost. It had become cursed. Since then, many tales tell of the curses that befell the Chola dynasty. Rajaraja himself is said to have committed suicide, though the truth of this is not reflected in any historical sources. Even today, it is said that any ruler who visits the temple will lose his mandate soon!

Karoorar was the Yogi who was consecrating the temple. The king at one point started to overlook his instructions and started believing that he can complete the temple on his own. Karoorar got angry and messed up the consecration. Moral of the story. Don't ever mess up with Yogis even if you're an Emperor. 🙏

@@dwaynevijay8726 Dharma is an Hindu concept...Temples in Tamil Nadu has built in Agamic concept which came from Kashmiri Shaivism of Trika tradition. Even Shaiva Siddhanta is a Bakti version of Kashmiri Shaivism/Pashupata Shaivism. Trirumantiram by Tirumoolar is a redefined poetic version of Vedic concepts like Advaita Vedanta. He has clearly mentioned about Rig Veda too.

I do accept that people do follow some standardise procedure and in the way they also contributed to the whole system but the agamic practice in differing regions could not be claimed to be from a certain region alone. Also shaiva siddhanta is a desperate attempt to sanskritise tamil bhakti literature. To be exact, shaiva siddhanta is not native to tamil region itself, what is native is salvation concept(bhakti) be it to shiva or vishnu expressed through complex sentences/poems in Tamil and this literature was the catalyst for Hinduism revival, which later come to be corrupted by a lot of foreign institution seeking for amalgamation. And tamil people unlike other region had developed some kind of self identity by being devoted to certain deities. What I am trying to say is, our belief system is not the same.

The teachings of Sadhguru have been really enlightening for me, But I strongly disagree with him here in his view on Tanjavur temple. I don't think there is any chance of failure of the consecration of the Linga here when you can see how much effort, dedication and love the people of those days had put into building this temple and how much more spiritually enlightened the spiritual men of those days would have been. So, if Sadhguru was able to consecrate the Dhyanalinga at Isha centre, they surely must have succeeded in the spiritual consecration of this temple with far superior spiritual power than even Sadhguru. They were quarried more stones then to build a Giza pyramid. And no body can find the granite stone at least 80 kilometres from tanjaauur. And the height of the front structure is 93 meters. On the top there r 2 stones which weighs 36 tonnes each at 205 feet in 1010 ad. It’s not true, every time I go to this temple Tanjore big temple, I feel more good and make more money in my job . I cannot accept this story, the reason for making new temple at jayamkondam should be setting up that place as new capital and that place should be praised as much as Tanjore that’s it.

I visited this temple and was blown away this also one of the few temples that has not been painted blue and red as with many other south temples. The work is astonishing and once you enter the 4 walls you feel like transported back to 1000 years. Simply brilliant and you can literally walk around the whole day and look at the magnificent work and dedication that has gone into making such a marvel

Years back when karunandhi then CM arranged consecration there was a massive fire accident killing a lot and the yagasala rituals disrupted... ..this confirms the.view.
Consecration done properly by Karuvurar...one can still enjoy not only the magnificent edifice and iconography and the very form but also feel the throbbing Energy inside the Temple compound!!
Such a magnificent temple, master plan by karuvurar sithar and financed by Raja Raja. If you look back at history, the name of raja raja was discovered only in early 19th century, earlier people thought it was buil by Rajendra, also the famous painting in the temple secret chamber is of Rajendra with karuvurar at his father's funeral pyre. Also it baffled historians why Rajendra build small scale of same blue print after 20 years of tanjavur temple. So much has happened during that era. One could easily trace this history
I'll beg to differ, most ancient builders were also great architects, who have had studied from various Universities of Ancient Bharat, and whether they used advance technologies is also debatable, as all Ancient history and knowledge is lost due to Terrorist invasions and all archives of knowledge and University were burnt down. As any Modern architect will first build a model for the project beforehand. Thus it's debatable which temple was built first.

Every temple in India is a Buddhist temple, brihadeshwara temple having writings, pali language, dhama lipi , carvings are there on temple, same carvings are there on ajanta and ellora ( Buddha caves) . The ashoka stupa is present in temple, not shiva linga

The temple was constructed over a period of seven years from 1003 to 1010AD, and was completed in the 25th year of Rajaraja's reign. It was conceived by Karuvurar, a yogi and siddha, as a tremendously powerfully energy center, and was financed by Raja Raja Chola in the eleventh century. However, according to historical lore, Rajaraja disagreed with Karuvurar over certain aspects of the temple. It isn't quite clear what the disagreement was about but tales tell of how Rajaraja wished that the kumbabhishekam and inauguration of the temple should take place on a certain date, which Karuvurar disagreed with. Whatever the reason, Rajaraja asked the yogi to leave. Karuvurar had to wash his hands off the whole affair. However, he constructed a little hut in the corner of the temple premises and resided there.
When the time came to install the enormous linga into the peetha or avudaiyar, the Chola engineers struggled immensely as the linga wouldn't fit, any which way they tried. Finally, in desperation they approached Karuvurar, who taking his spittoon, spat into it, and handed it to them to place in the peetha before installing the linga. The engineers did as told, and astonishingly, the linga fit. But t was not a happy occasion. Karuvurar's spitting was a symbolic way of saying that the linga was lost. It had become cursed. Since then, many tales tell of the curses that befell the Chola dynasty. Rajaraja himself is said to have committed suicide, though the truth of this is not reflected in any historical sources. Even today, it is said that any ruler who visits the temple will lose his mandate soon!

Karoorar was the Yogi who was consecrating the temple. The king at one point started to overlook his instructions and started believing that he can complete the temple on his own. Karoorar got angry and messed up the consecration. Moral of the story. Don't ever mess up with Yogis even if you're an Emperor. 🙏

Even Shaiva Siddhanta is a Bakti version of Kashmiri Shaivism/Pashupata Shaivism. Trirumantiram by Tirumoolar is a redefined poetic version of Vedic concepts like Advaita Vedanta. He has clearly mentioned about Rig Veda too.

I do accept that people do follow some standardise procedure and in the way they also contributed to the whole system but the agamic practice in differing regions could not be claimed to be from a certain region alone. Also shaiva siddhanta is a desperate attempt to sanskritise tamil bhakti literature. To be exact, shaiva siddhanta is not native to tamil region itself, what is native is salvation concept(bhakti) be it to shiva or vishnu expressed through complex sentences/poems in Tamil and this literature was the catalyst for Hinduism revival, which later come to be corrupted by a lot of foreign institution seeking for amalgamation. And tamil people unlike other region had developed some kind of self identity by being devoted to certain deities. What I am trying to say is, our belief system is not the same.

The teachings of Sadhguru have been really enlightening for me, But I strongly disagree with him here in his view on Tanjavur temple. I don't think there is any chance of failure of the consecration of the Linga here when you can see how much effort, dedication and love the people of those days had put into building this temple and how much more spiritually enlightened the spiritual men of those days would have been. So, if Sadhguru was able to consecrate the Dhyanalinga at Isha centre, they surely must have succeeded in the spiritual consecration of this temple with far superior spiritual power than even Sadhguru.
