In this video I take you behind the scenes of our recent Matt Barnes shoot. I give Matti the new Canon EOS R5 C mirrorless camera for a day of shooting and we put these cameras to work. I have personally been using this camera for the past 2 months now and wanted to share some of my initial thoughts with you. There are a few interesting things about this camera that I wanted to highlight while I talk through the battery life and some power source quirks while shooting 8K Cinema RAW Light. I then get into some thoughts on the menus and the camera overall. Is this my one and done camera? Let’s get into it!

3:15 Word of caution on external powering: If you use a power bank, it needs to support Power-Delivery, and output 8V. 3Amp. Not all of the Anker ones do!
Aye .. PD 45W minimum is a requirement.
I thought I heard it was 9V
@@robertm3951 It likely is. The beauty about PD is, that the camera can tell the battery bank, what to deliver. The voltage is not important. V * A = W. The wattage is important. 45W minimum is what you need .. and that's ... a lot !
@@EmeraldAudiovisual 45w is not a big deal. All modern midrange batteries can do it. I upgraded ally batteries so that I could run my Surface Pro 8 off them if needed.
@@onlysublime PD 45W is not mid range. But yes, it's obtainable.
Peter - this is one of your best - you mix storytelling with a review with perfect timing and balance. The review is a story told in many different places (garage, church, inside car, office space). With flashbacks and present tense all woven together. All while using the product and taking us the viewer on a journey to a location we wouldn't normally see!

Hey Pete, love the video! One thing: you only need the external Power Source if you go 8K / 60fps ---> 8K 30fps or 24fps is possible with the normal batteries.

If you turn off sensor cleaning the switch between video and photo is 4 seconds (you can always manually sensor clean anytime you want)

What's it like in low light etc. Thanks!
In case you didn't know, you can customize shutter button to REC on video mode! I use that in every Canon mirrorless camera.

I love my 90D because the Battery life! Its a little dated in a few ways but the quality is still amazing. I just shot pictures and video constantly for about 5 hours and it still had one battery bar left!

My R5C has been on back ordered for idk how many months at this point and Im still waiting....hopefully only until April....how you have MULTIPLE is beyond me, lol....so jelly but only cause your stuff is always amazing so do us all a favor and keep putting up the good fight until we all can join you....

Peter, can you make a video talking about upcoming canon cameras and rumors? The Canon EOS R7 maybe ? Predictions and thoughts on what canon should aim for next?
The only major flaw I see on that camera is that I don’t have one and never going to…but that aside it is a superb camera for sure. The camera is capable of everything and with over the top specs. It might not be perfect but don’t think that people would be 100% satisfied ever

Nice video. I really like the colors in it. Can this be attributed to Canon Colors? So many people feel that they need to put a heavy grade in their work because it looks "cinematic," but they way overshoot the mark by doing so.

03:04 actually you can shoot 8K RAW in 60fps WITHOUT external power, but the electronic lens image stabilization won't work. 8K RAW 50fps is possible with all electronic lens functions, as far as I understood from a conversation with a Canon employee, also just with the Canon LP-E6NH battery.

OK, but the battery life of such a small battery will still not be the best. You missed the point.
@@Anon54387 Of course it makes more sense to use an external power source in this mode, but fact is, you can use it just like that and Peter said you can´t.
