I have two R5c cameras and they are fully rigged out. I have used them extensively for TV productions and they are outstanding. My clients have many times said how excellent the image is. I rigged them out in part to have my high end clients feel good...but do love the matt box, monitors, cage, follow focus....etc...part of the system when needed. And when I don't need all of those attachments, I have a small portable camera that is excellent for video and stills.
Hey question: can the R5c do 12 bit color...? (internal...). and does it shoot 6K cropped...? (S35) thanks! Cheers!
@@wildpatagoniafilms16 yes and yes.
Baught this right when it came out and have been loving it since then. 🤩
What a beast! Nice review man.
Thanks man! Definitely is for vid
Incredible review thanks, but I would like to see edited footage 👍
Great video. For someone who is using a 5D MarkIV to either the R5 or R5C what would you recommend for someone who mostly shoots stills but really appreciates a good video menu? Also, I’m primarily traveling with it, occasionally diving with it in a housing shooting video.
@TKNORTH,
Lucky to have both and as you mentioned, if shooting mostly stills, it’s the R5. If more video or hybrid work, definitely the R5C for all the things you mentioned in this video.
Have a couple battery solutions for long form recording on all day shoots.
What bugged me the most was Canon never lifting the 30min recording limit on the R5. But as you said, the R5C video mode has so many options and menu like the C70 and cinema cameras without internal NDs and other audio options. But the OIS + DIS is way good enough for handheld.
Sounds like a great set-up to have! Since I currently still have the R5 and R6 it would probably make more sense to switch to the same... still considering it!
Yeh I hope to see the 30min limit gone on the R5 MII, slowly seems like more cameras are ditching this.
Awesome! I've recently made the switch from the R5 to the R5C and it's been incredible. The battery life (for my style of shooting) hasn't been the biggest issue. I'm loving all the R5C specific features and it has been well worth the switch.
Awesome man! Sounds much my like experience with it. Battery wasn't really an issue at all, I was using the power saving mode mostly though!
totally agree! I can use all my favorite recording codecs and frame rates in power saving mode, so it's really been a non-issue@@TKNORTH
I shoot stock video and stills, this is the best camera I have used in my life for this purpose, of course I love mine
Nice broski, shutter angle would be ideal.
Thanks man! So much more convenient if regularly changing fps
I hope the R5 Mark II is an R5C without the fan, but with IBIS and the dual/separate menus. Which would make the R5 mark II the true "hybrid" the R5 should have been to begin with.
I would like to see the R5 with similar features but I just cannot see it happening! I think Canon will keep clear separation to their cinema line. Hopefully I am wrong though 😆
Would you recommend the R5C or the FX6 ?
i switched to sony last year and while i dont regret it outright i do miss the stills i could take on the fly. the battery life was just so bad for shooting video. even with the power saving modes using this thing as a travel camera was so inconvenient (for me). with my sony i bring 4 batteries and only have to charge every 2 days or so
I have noticed about a 1/2 stop difference in brightness between my R5 and R5C. In both stills and video. Have you noticed this?
I would love to see the comparison between r6 mark ii, R5 and r5c for photography because I love shooting beautiful stills also and I am super curious about r5c photography, I love shooting handheld and because of the lack of IBIS I am still thinking what to do 😞
Ibis is shit anyway
A TH-camr said that even if it stopped recording you can still shoot photos so the battery isn’t at that time at 0%.
I have two of them...
well, one of them.
some thief in Hawaii has my other one. LOCK UP YOUR STUFF.

Welcome 🙏
What’s the max record time
there is no limit, its practically a cine cam.

The only thing that lets me down about this camera is the inferior auto focus
It definitely was notable at first, but once I tweaked the settings and sped up the speed a bit I didn't find it a major downside - although I also wasn't using it on any fast moving scenes. That slower adjustment for video can definitely be useful at times, but it is quite different to the R5.
@@TKNORTH I totally agree on it being great on slow moving subjects especially when the subject isn't moving towards or away from camera, I find it struggles quite a bit when the subject is further away (maybe 1/5 of the the frame) it tends to shoot the focus to the background. Occasionally using tracking auto focus and tapping on the screen, it will also not pull focus. I've tried many of the settings but doesn't seem to get to a good place compared to r6 II. Would love to hear what your settings are if I've missed anything 🙏
I do a lot of hand-held video shooting and I'm so incredibly impressed with the IBIS in the R5, that the lack of IBIS in the R5 C has been a deal breaker for me with the R5 C. I'll stick with my R5 and C70 for now.
C = Cinema Line
Correct.
my canon r5c camera broke down, the motherboard burned down, that's what I was told at an authorized service center in Georgia, I'm on a business trip and I can't get support from Canon, they don't respond to my emails. The service center in Georgia refused to repair the camera because they sent a request to Canon and Canon reported that they did not have a motherboard for Canon r5c. I can't work, my camera is broken, the service center has refused to repair and canon support is not getting in touch. Thank you very much canon company!
considering it's not weather sealed i can't see this as a photo camera at all. It's a video camera that can produce good stills
Canon claims It has the equivalent weather sealing as the R5
@@caffeinatedcameras it has a fan. absolutely no way
@@ChrisThe1 that was from canon's website. I'd reach out to them for more clarification, but I have one - and I've had it in dust storms, downpours in the Washington rain forest, and the snow with no issues.
The fan is in a separate compartment. It is sealed from the internals and has the same weather rating as the R5.
Lol semantics. The camera is jus an R5 with a fan and works well on stills. I don't know who will be shooting in rain with any camera.
