Windows 11: **It kinda runs android apps**
Windows phone: Ah, shit! Here we go again.
I would never upgrade to windows 11. Terrible , useless features , im sure its using hundreds of MBs in your ram when you do nothing.
@@sbypasser819 That's what I still say about W10. I am using W8.1 and still will for 2 more years.
@@AndyRoidEU I use windows 7 , but the reason i dont upgrade to windows 10 is that im afraid some of my programs wont run. And yes you are right , for android its the same , every new version is just worse...
I'm still holding Windows Phone from 2016, it's flawless (almost), but since Windows 11 is came out, I think it's time to change the phone, really don't want the iPhone, but android is also really sucks... Wondering if Microsoft plans something about Windows 11 phone... Could be fantastic
@@George_Shonia I've got to agree that the only downsides of using Windows phone was the missing support for the most Android apps and that it didn't really get much attention either from Microsoft or from the customers. It came out late when Android and IPhone were kind of contesting each others customers.
I think Microsoft will once again do the mistake of not giving support for *all* the Android apps. If they would give apk install support they would actually attract Android customers.
Love the shadow window background and his T-shirt...incorporating the flips into his logo is absolutely amazing!
How long did it take the team to get that Windows logo light/shadow so perfect behind you? 🔥
love the ‘Windows’ lighting background!
I think the most hilarious part is I’ll be running Google Android apps… through Amazon App Store… in Microsoft Windows… on my Apple MacBook
The windows logo on the wall in the background is just beautiful
Anyone can have a youtube channel...not anyone can have a youtube channel like MKBHD
Came here looking for 'who beat me to the windows logo background' comment 😆
Don't think Amazon Play Store was the right decision. Personally think it should have been Google Play
Just a guess but that might mess with the chrome book hype Google has.
I've heard that it has to do with the fact that Amazon regulates it's app store more tightly, a la Apple. Meanwhile, Google's app store is like the wild west when it comes to security issues, etc.
Marques, I really enjoyed your video! I don't say that very often so the complement is well earned. I'm liking what I see on W11 as well, and the first (and not least) of these is the rounded corners! I have disliked the basic boxy look of W10 since it was introduced as a beta. It looked like a step (maybe even 2 steps) backward in design to me. I'm also looking forward to experiencing many of the other improvements. Run Android apps? I don't have a need or desire at this time but we'll see, down the road. Keep putting out great videos my man!
They bought Skype to integrate it into Teams and it’s going to replace Skype over time.
Yeah came here to say this. The technology behind skype is what they bought. Teams (and Xbox Live Chat, if I'm not mistaken) have been running the skype codec for a while now
They didnt bought it for that reason but yeah... they decided to replace it now
Windows Vista was the glassiest windows ever. It was kinda ahead of its time.
The death of everyone's fetish "Refresh" button.
It was under the more options menu, now with the latest update it's back in the main right click menu.
@Julien Ozon Huh all these years and I never thought to try F5 on the desktop lol
I like the Windows logo that MKBHD created on the background with his Aputure lights.
Excellent synopsis, Marques
I swear you are my go to for everything Tech! I just got the alert that I can upgrade to Windows 11. But I needed to research before making the switch. Thank you for this video!
That "Window" shadow in the background though.. 😅 🔥
@@himshikharbiswas i drifted off twice thinking ‘i wonder how they did that?’ haha
*The shadow behind Marques in the form of the Windows logo is so cool!*
Fantastic Windows 11 review. Marques, you did an excellent job. Continue your great work!
I have watched a couple of reviews now in October both pro and con and appreciate your review. It is tempting, but learning the new features will reduce productivity for a time. Watching from the Philippines.
I agree that Teams is more on the corporate brand. But I appreciate Microsoft's effort to not fragment their messenger apps like Google did.
Really?
Remember MSN Messenger? Microsoft Lync? Skype? *_Skype for Business???_* and now Teams?
There are actually a bunch of other messenger-type apps from/by/in Microsoft...
Summary: easy with the credit. Google messaging sucks, but that doesn't mean that Microsoft messaging is awesome.
But isn’t teams horrible? It’s clunky and annoying. Google meet over it anyday
@@head4shot My company uses Teams. I love it. You can edit messages, edit attachments schedule calls and everything I like. You can send messages with formatting like color, hyperlinked text, and fonts (useful for long texts). I wish WhatsApp was as feature packed.

"Hey mum can we get the google play store"
"No, we have the google play store at home"
The google play store at home: * *Amazon app store* *
Its still nice to see. Except for few native google proprietary apps like Gmail most of the apps will run natively on Windows. More developers will come to Amazon to reach larger audience. There are really very good android apps that are crying for bigger screen. Needless to say, it's a leap for Surface series because the current offering for art in Windows isn't that exciting. Also, we might see more android apps for Windows crowd
Rip Bluestacks, we thank you for your service!
Oh it's still around :D I used to use it back in 2013 when I didn't have a smartphone
BlueStacks will still not run out of business because 99% of all PCs today are not eligible for Windows 11
I love the new asthetic and start up sound, even if I still have nostalgia for Windows 7 and Windows 10
Anybody noticed how clever the background is with that blue colour left and that windows reflection basically in the upper right part of the screen? Genius
Interesting. In his Skillshare class, MKBHD mentions how they like to adapt their background for each video to match the topics. We should pay more attention to his setup now.
"Windows XP was superflat"
This man never used the olive theme and it shows.
@@prodbydanai nvm zune theme, let's talk about the zune music player (both the software that existed on windows and the physical thing). They were both great, I still miss them. If not for MusicBee, I'd definitely still use the Zune software as the default music player

This update was actually great! nice video!
German schools & hospitals are laughing: they already have Windows 95!
My school has Windows 10, but it's the oldest and one of the most known schools of Hamburg, so it kinda has to.
Im glad you also mentioned that you can change the centre justification of the toolbar. Even the BBC mentions that the new toolbar is centralised but never mention that you can change it.
I tweeted them but still no correction on their articles (I dont know why it bugs me so much; maybe because thats the first thing Im going to do once I can get a copy that will run without TPM 2 needed.

Like the aesthetic/environment from what I saw. Look forward to taking it for a spin. well..several spins.
I love the small details that Marques puts into all his sets ... that windows light in the background is an awesome touch!
nice to see you again.
Thanks MKBHD for the info
When I heard "it's 64 bit only" I was like "finally".
I no longer have to choose between dozens of useless installers!
Its 64 bit installation. Nothing about the software you install.
@@liambohlSadly no. We will still need backwards compatibility in Windows for years to come. Not to mention the
"C:\Program Files (Arm)" folder that apparently is a thing too. Maybe we'll get a "Program Files (Arm64)" folder too in a once/if Windows on ARM catches on.
I'm actually surprised they didn't go for another gen of 32-bit OS. A lot of businesses require 32-bit OS support even in 2021. Now, they'll just have to run an unsupported version of Windows, rather than the latest and greatest. Which will result in more ransomware attacks, etc.
First thing I'll do will be to turn the Dark theme on. That thing is shiny.
Yeah it just looks really soft
Like if Windows 11 would be a human it would say

Love your show keep up the great work!
This Glassy style is called glassmorphism in design lingo. Hope that helps
Actually windows indtroduced this effect many years ago which now designers followed this and named as glassmorphism you know. I hope you learnt something
Awesome review. Thanks for explaining how to run Android apps on Windows 11.
beauty of windows is that there is always workarounds for incompatible devices online especially for the older or earlier than TPM 2.0 devices
Getting teams notification will always give me anxiety attacks, not sure if i'll ever use it for chatting with my friends.
Exactly It just feels too formal and anyways I don't have nay friends
That multi-window management and external monitor window memorization feels like a game changer for me! Such a QoL feature to use with an ultra wide monitor!
Exactly! The new features look great for productivity, great for my workflow style, and the new HDR and Android app features seem like a good, albeit small, step forward to the future. If I hadn't lived through so many releases of well, everything, I'd be surprised at the amount of complainers and whiners already creating issues out of nothing and completely ignoring the good parts.

@@Kylian381 of course they have but adding them to Windows is useful for a ton of people. Just because milk tastes great with chocolate doesn't mean I don't want to pour it on my cereal.

@@okeynwachie why hate Amazon specifically? I mean, what did Bezos do, that other big bois don't? It's a genuine question: they don't seem to be very big in my region. Well, **Title card** seems pretty good, at least. :)
Albeit I can understand, why one might be reluctant to give more and more of his data to bigcorp hive mind, at the same time being too lazy to fully switch to Linux (that's me, lol). I'm just curious, how is Amazon worse than their competition in this case.
Also on the side note: which Android apps do you miss on Windows? For me it's completely the opposite.

The Amazon app store doesn't have nearly all android apps. Plus BlueStacks has amazing keyboard/mouse mapping.
I always enjoy your videos...honest and well presented. I have been waiting a long time for Windows to run Android apps. My phone for a long time has been a Samsung Note. My laptop is a Surface Pro 3 and time for an upgrade. I was also considering buying the Samsung 8 tablet since I am using my phone for most of my google searching and using it like a table....I do not use my Surface pro 3 as a go to tablet. Perhaps with Android apps on the surface pro 3, my phone, and most likely the Samsung tablet I will have almost everything...might not need the Samsung tablet with LTE. Thank you
Absolutely love your reviews Marques - keep up the great work!!!

like omfg, making sure that an apk will support both android and windows is a pain in the ass
There's a LOT missing in the Amazon App store.
So much that I installed the Google app store on my kids amazon tablets. They are old enough now that I can trust them with an actually good tablet though.
I'm actually pretty stoked for Comixology, but I probably won't care about any other android apps.
tku - I was apprehensive about windows 11, due to some difficulties I had with old vs new. Furthermore, I do like the idea of moving into windows 11, now that you have told me about the good, the down-side and the side deals with Amazon and Microsoft etc. Subsequently, I do like the idea that it's going to house some android apps (like tik tok) which could be good. Re: Microsoft teams, I am a student at university, we use ZOOM in Australia, New Zealand etc 100% for uni, school, high-school, meetings, chit-chats with families etc, etc - therefore, Microsoft teams in my opinion may have difficulty converting us students at all levels and our families and friends into 'teams'. Tks for your great videos, you really help a beginner like me understand more about computers and their software. tku! :) :)
Right clicking on the windows icon on the dashboard brings up some menus as well as the well-hidden Task Manager!
I would almost guarantee when they bought Skype the point wasn’t to make it the best thing ever, it was likely to swallow the back end and build MS Teams
You could tell they didn't mean to make it the best thing ever by... every day of them owning skype.
Yeah, that's the impression I got too. Skype is now teams, essentially
Yeah kind of like when Apple bought Dark Sky. They’re now shutting down Dark Sky and rolling everything into iOS’s native weather app. Imagine the same thing is going to eventually happen with Google Maps and Waze.
Too bad they took their sweet-ass time, they’re likely never going to be the Personal default nor the Enterprise default.
It would be cool to see Windows Explorer getting a visual overhaul as well.
I read something about this. Apparently there is gonna be a new version of windows explorer that was spotted during Microsoft's presentation.
Half of the time, I have Win Explorer open. There are definitely some improvements which could be made to the interface!

Yep. Use the technology to promote it's own lineup. Kinda smart way to get monopoly. Sucks that it worked.
It was actually a good idea to use beats to create Apple Music & Airpods

A point to note that Skype for business is still being used in majority of the enterprises
