As a person with severe hearing loss and having to use headphones to interact with Windows, I have to thank you for presenting the differences in the Windows 11 sounds between light and dark mode, as well as comparing them to Windows 10. Most people would probably hear a negligible difference, but for someone like me, the dark mode sounds are virtually impossible to distinguish. I love using dark mode in Windows 10, and in fact the Windows 10 sounds in your comparison test were the most clear of all three to me. However, it looks like I will be having to stick with light mode when I upgrade to Windows 11 just to hear the stupid sounds! It sort of sucks that Microsoft doesn't accommodate people with hearing difficulties by simply keeping all volumes equal. Quite a bizarre feature, actually. Having said that, you really need to speak a bit slower and clearer. I had to slow the video down to 75% just to understand you. I needed the CC captions too. Other people have commented on this too, so just a heads up 🙂 You must have been excited to spread the news 😆 Thanks again anyway 🙏
Suck that they're becoming more like Apple in terms of customisability. Maybe if Linux catches up in major PC areas like gaming, people will start switching.

I spent years using windows 8.1. Windows 10 felt like a game changer. That Start Menu was the best one Windows had. It's the best suited for productivity so far. I hated the tiles of v8.1 but to combine them in the start menu is genius. Had to buy a new laptop which came with Windows 11. It's aesthetically nicer (although they really need to get rid of yellow folders and give an option to change folder colours once and for all to any colour of the spectrum we choose). The big problem is this start menu. I almost don't need to have one. Why did they downgrade the v10 start menu????
and flat vs. skeuomorphic/3d... is it just me or does it look like they added the slight shadow around windows too? like windows 7 had with the round corners.
@@SrLeo-vf3xo WIndows has had round corners since Windows XP. When Windows 8 and Windows 10 went back to sharp corners, it really reminded me of Windows 95, although I've since gotten used to it.
Anyone else remember when they said Windows 10 would be the last dedicated version of Windows? Why couldn't they just make Win11 an optional theme for Win10?
If I recall, the stated plan was that they were switching models from paid OS's to the free upgrade model, which they're doing here. The idea was that if you did upgrade to 10 back then all the future upgrades were also offered, but not if you had stuck with 8, I believe. It's been a while, so I might not have the details, but I don't believe they never said they weren't going to do another number, basically.
It's really strange that Windows has defined a number of things that make their OSs really nice to use, then every single new release they try to remove it. Windows 10 wasn't perfect, but removing options from it wouldn't be the direction I would go with it...
Removing options is never a good thing from a user perspective, yet every damn software company keeps doing it. I don't get it!.. [EDIT]: yay, 69th like!
Doesn't make any sense to remove features some users have become accustomed to. Just have a new default with the option to change back to previous options for those who don't want the new way. Seems like MS is constantly trying to force users to behave the way they want them to, instead of providing the most customisable platform for a user to do things the way THEY wish to. It's surprising there is still no windows clone that does things the way every normal person agrees it they should be done (and/or gives multiple options) rather than us all being bullied into doing things a certain way just for proper compaitibility.

In my opinion, just not being able to drag a file to an app or folder in the taskbar that is lower than W10 and also the impossibility of moving the taskbar to the top. You've done the work of presenting the operating system as Microsoft should. Thanks. W11 is best for me.
8:50 "getting rid of all of the clutter" - This is my main issue with every new Windows. They over-simplify anything to the point of actually REMOVING features, and making it harder to actually customize: you know, stuff you do on a PC. This isn't a smartphone or a tablet OS, it's a PC, so let it be a PC OS.
Very bad change indeed. The ribbons imo is one of the best UI inventions by Microsoft and they got rid of it for a minimalistic toolbar because some braindead people find it more pretty?
The utter obsession to design web pages and desktop applications and now even the operating system to emulate a mobile phone or a tablet is maddening. A PC is a PC.

Seems to me Windows 11 should have been called Windows 10S (for simplified) and should have been an on/off option from within Windows 10 so one could switch back and forth.
As someone who had a big, old, rather-budget laptop carry me through school and run Windows 10 for a good portion of it, getting a small, sleeker laptop with Windows 11 running natively was a welcome experience in my case. Sure, minor inconveniences such as having use the "show more options" button when right clicking in file explorer and the more limited customization of the task bar could be considered drawbacks, but the streamlined experience provided by 11's commitment to thematic congruency and more elegant control scheme make general use so much more pleasant. Windows 10 really felt clunky for me, which made day-to-day use that much less appealing by comparison, and its inconsistent look was pretty headache-inducing looking back. I have to give it to 11: I didn't think the aesthetics of the UI would affect my mood while using the OS as much as it did. While I never wanted to use macOS as I really hated its feel, there's no denying that it was leagues above windows 10's interface visually. Windows 11 feels like it gives me the user-friendliness macOS has whilst still being good ol' Windows. More hands-on users who wouldn't categorize themselves as the "average consumer" might feel differently, however.
Yeah, that's your experience. It's totally valid, don't get me wrong, and I'm happy you are now more comfortable. On the other side, I have a custom built gaming computer that I use for a lot of personal projects, and Windows 10 was and still is amazing - I use all of the features of the start menu, taskbar, the layout. I really appreciate the style, too, looks sleek (not sure where you got the inconsistency from, but that could be just the theme you used). The new one is an obvious mimic of Mac`s to me, and I choose Windows deliberately, I have no love for their style. It has too many moving parts, every animation seems exaggerated, the icons are unbelievably colorful. I agree with you on the point that aesthetics matter a lot, as well as the general fit and layout of the system. I just appreciate Windows being Windows in aesthetics, too, not only functionality.
@@katerynaivzhenko6716 I’m pretty sure the inconsistency he talked about is how Windows 10s “modern new look” is just one layer deep and the second you go into any menu you’re right back in W7. I also have a weird situation going where I have W11 on my laptop for school and W10 on my desktop that I use for everything else.
@@cybertrend8134 Apple can't copyright modern and simple UI, now can they? Companies have always taken inspiration from each other, that's not copying, that's just how things habe been for years.

I hate how Windows 11 removed a lot of things that I liked in Windows 10. Especially it removes a lot of cool customizable options instead of adding more ones. I only like the new icons and rounded corners and the modern appearance in all of this, but even tho I still prefer previous windows.
@@drixxer I liked the live tiles in the start menu, it was giving a chic look to the apps, they were dynamics not like this. Also the ability to resize them and put them wherever you want. Also open apps in the taskbar, I don't know the name of the setting tbh but, in windows 10 we had the choice to show the title of opened windows in the taskbar or to only show icon, I used to show the title it helps when I'm opening a lot of tabs in chrome to know in advance what tab I'm working on, or what folder I'm exactly opening in file explorer. I also hate how big is this new taskbar, I was even enabling small icons in windows 10, it was giving me more space. Now it isn't available anymore. Furthermore, they made the taskbar bigger, it takes a lot of the screen and I don't like to hide it automatically as I sometimes can't make it appear even if I hold on it. Another removed ability is to arrange the icons in the bottom right, I used to sort them in a preferable order. Now they're fixed. Last, It really upsets me that they removed those lock screen quick status, I was enabling weather, "to do" app, email and more. now there is only one app to choose from, they even removed some apps from the list like the "to do" app, I can't find it. I think that's what I miss a lot, I forgot to mention that I also don't like the new choice of options that appear when you right-click, it's not a customization feature but yeah, they added an option to show the previous list of options in windows 10, that are the most used ones to me, which means an additional click to find what I want.
I have a feeling Windows 10 is going to become the next Windows 7 (basically meaning a ton of people are not gonna upgrade because they prefer the legacy UI)
Pretty much me. I'm gonna keep using Windows 10 until I'm forced to "upgrade". And by then I'll have migrated completely to Linux with Win11 as a VM for Windows-only stuff.
I was the complete opposite honestly. I loved the way 7 looked and hated the way 10 looked and I love the way 11 looks lol. The aesthetics of 11 are the things I like. It's the functionality of most things that I feel are a back step.
2:07 So right click on the task bar now gives you a menu with ONE option. Basically, you right click to show a button that you then need to left click on. So simple and streamlined, brilliant!
I mean it would feel weird if you right clicked on something and then it opened a menu instead of giving a dropdown, it just feels wrong, I imagine that's why
@@dragonicbladex7574 yeah, that's why there was dropdown on a right click in the first place. Now it became less functional on a desktop, while staying as awkward as it was on a tablet. The function of a right click now is literally to show you one more step so it doesn't feel too weird.
You just made my day. Being an older model, I was really worried about going from Win10 to Win11 but I can definitely deal with the changes. Thank you!
Windows 11 seems like a strict downgrade. The least any good UI engineer can do is to make it an option to do more things or revert to older familiar functionality, not strip functionality to be less productive. It's like they didn't even consider real people who do real work.
Seriously. I think they designed this for the libtard jobless hipsters who hang out at Starbucks all day and can't afford to buy Apple products, but still want to "look trendy" 😬
This really feels like Microsoft just tried to make it newbie friendly without any thought for long time users. Like other comments are saying, it feels like it was dumbed down for something like a tablet, and so many simple and useful features got removed. Being able to drag files directly into the manager is such a simple addition but for whatever reason it's not a thing, and something even so simple as the exact time on the calendar was removed. Customizability overall looks like it took a hit with this update.
This is what people said going from windows 7 to 8. I agree though, windows seems to be focused on their tablet devices. Probably because those make consistent income.
The narraor did such a nice job of cramming all of his narration into such a speedy delivery that I almost had enough time to comprehend what he was saying.
I find the lack of features available from the task bar disappointing. Glad paint et al is getting an update. They damn better add the seconds back to the clock. Finally, I'm going to miss the start menu aesthetic. While they may be wanting a more simplified and easy to read OS overall, I like knowing exactly what's going on when and how.
@@foxman105 Windows 8 wasn't actually a bad OS to begin with, even if 8.1 was a definite improvement. I think the new UI looks gorgeous from a visual perspective. Updated fonts and colors are definitely a lot more pleasing on the eyes, but the altered/removed functionalities are too much of a drawback to even consider upgrading. Shame.
Yeah, the big one for me is not being able to move the taskbar from the bottom. I've been using a little program called Buttery Taskbar that makes taskbar hiding way more functional, it makes the taskbar never show up until you hit the windows key, no more accidentally moving the mouse over it. By docking the taskbar sideways you're giving yourself more vertical screen space, which is what you need for most tasks, with Buttery Taskbar you reclaim whatever screen space the taskbar was taking up and learn to actually use keyboard shortcuts. So regardless of how pretty 11 looks, I'll feel like I'm losing a lot of productivity.
@Chris New functionality ≠ quality of life improvement always. As a multimedia professional in a high volume industry, I quite literally don't have the freedom of time to augment my workflow. I don't care who you are, doubling the time and effort it takes to perform a simple task is clumsy when you have to perform that simple task hundreds of times a day. Those extra steps add up and you're rapidly at a productivity loss.

The thing I miss the most while using Windows 11 is the folder and file display from earlier versions. In 11 there are only two options left, a list with information or large icons.
Just to be clear: Cortana is no longer part of the setup process and you won't see it on the task bar. But don't think that its been taken away. It can be found in "all apps". From there you can pin it to the task bar if you want. You can do the same with the weather app, which has a lot more info than the weather widget.

Honestly, the dealbreaker for me is that I can't move the taskbar to different sides of the screen. I've had it on the right since the option became available. Hoping that feature gets re-added, or a mod pops up.
I'm with you on this. It was already a bit underwhelming in W10 that the side configurations of the taskbar didn't offer the slim variant that the bottom and top ones did but now they outright take away all options that aren't strictly bottom. It's awful, having the bar on a side is a much more efficient use of screen space.

Thanks for the comparison, it was quite insightful. I'm a bit disappointed that much of the customizability Windows 10 had was removed. Being able to group apps in the start menu for instance was a great organizational feature to keep things from cluttering. While I understand the desire to keep things simple for users by default, I wish there were more advanced options for people who want to customize their experience. This is especially ironic considering how Microsoft marketed their OS initially, as feeling like home. If I wasn't allowed to change anything in my own house, it might be someone's home, but it certainly isn't mine. I do like Windows 11 aesthetically though, and maybe they can improve, or maybe this'll just be the traditional bad OS that constitutes every other release Microsoft does. Let's see.
Yeah, I wonder what the logic is behind that though or why it matters. Light mode did sound a little louder than dark mode and had that longated sound at the end.
i will NEVER understand why features are _removed_ when they arent causing problems, like taskbar size management or media previews for folders. its disgusting.
This is an excellent and very thorough breakdown of the differences between Win 10 and Win 11. Great work! I see absolutely zero reason to upgrade except for my illogical and masochistic love of a good old fashioned, OS upgrade performance hit.
Excellent video! Now I'm convinced to stick with WIN10 until a significant change is done. I was expecting WAY more from WIN11... but I see many, many flaws are still there, but the difference is WIN10 is way more familiar right now and (according to many reviews) it performs even 10% better.

Tbh, I miss certain features from Windows 10, however I'm glad some features were removed/changed in Windows 11. Like the animations and snap assist. I hated not having a helpful snapping assist in Windows 10. If I wanted to have certain applications open, I would have to manually drag and place them myself. Windows 11 makes that a lot easier for me. However, I kinda miss the Windows background. Yes, I know you can just pull a random image off the internet, but I mean like I really miss it being the default. It gave this vibe that felt like I was in the right place. But I'll give them credit. The new designs are actually pretty beautiful and well made.
Windows 11 brings a brand-new, more Mac-like interface to the OS. It features a clean design with rounded corners and pastel shades. After a fresh install of Windows 11, is there any way to get a cheap license key?
0:27 In Windows 10, we had "Most Used" Apps & "Recently Added" Apps. Now in Windows 11, just the difference both are now merged and renamed as "Recommended" and is also now Cloud Based.

I don't like the "modern" and simplified style companies are going for nowadays and Windows 11 doesn't seem worth it since takes away features for no apparent reason with just minimal improvements and features.
What you regard as minimal improvement, though, and what others do, is subjective. I'd argue the improvements made are not minimal. In fact, they're the opposite.

windows 10 seemed perfect to me from a design point of view, their logo was great (rotated square), and changing the color of windows (using personalization) seemed like a great solution, all this is missing in windows 11. Especially frustrating is the new start panel and the panel at the top of Explorer. Very inconvenient settings, now everything is in some unnecessary drop-down menus, and if you want to change, for example, the playback device, you need to go to the settings, when in win 10 you could just click on the sound icon and change everything there. However, there are a number of advantages. For example, window animations and their rounding parameter. The new taskbar looks much better. In general, it seems that windows 11 needs to be refined and refined, I hope it won't come to windows 11.1 if you understand what I mean.
I prefer windows XP, Vista and 7. I hate everything Windows from 8 and above, 8.1 was kinda good, but I strongly dislike windows 10, and I'm not even gonna bother trying windows 11. I'm glad I moved away from Windows tbh
I have been using Win 11 for you will get used to it. No need to worry and you will surely love the cool new animations and the emojis are also too good
windows 10 has auto update feature that is just no way for you to turn that off even if you already modified the core settings and it's annoying especially if you're in a hurry or emergency and need the pc to be turned off immediately, hope 11 has a choice to turn off/on the auto update feature
Windows 10's default desktop background was a masterpiece (I especially like the original one on old versions, but the new one after the light mode update is not bad either; fun fact the original one was actually a photo taken with a real camera). Now what is this distorted piece of shit on windows 11? It honestly looks like some random picture someone found on google in half a minute.
Dont forget that the new explorer doesnt allow you anymore to put folder images (The option is still there, but it will keep the standard folder icon). So you cant see if there is text files, media or anything without opening the folder
Late here, and commenting midway through the video. Never thought I'd want to hear a song but it's composed of Windows system sounds. Listening to your comparison between the system sounds made it seem like a good idea. Love the video. Very informative.
Thank you for highlighting all the changes, and confirming that 11 just isn't for me. I hope the folks who adopt it enjoy it, but it's not for me. I really don't appreciate how Microsoft keeps complicating things for technicians who have to fix issues, like the network icon bringing up that quick action center. If I'm clicking network, it's because I have a network issue, I don't need to see brightness and accessibility when troubleshooting a network problem for instance. I need to see what my network is actually doing.
It's about "creativity". Microsoft is very creative in making a broken Windows after a good working one, and making move from one version to the next seem like going to a completely different operating system, wasting AT LEAST a few weeks of each individual's time on learning the new system. And they dare promote Windows with the word PRODUCTIVITY! How can you be productive if you have to keep upgrading to a drastically changed operating system where you are taken back to baby steps!? From the first version of Windows until Windows 2000, Microsoft has been making welcome and useful improvements. Windows 2000 had the perfect balance of features, speed and stability, everything that was needed, nothing that was not needed. I thought that MS finally got it right and made a perfect OS, now they just need to keep issuing Service Packs. Win XP proved me wrong, they changed a lot of stuff, started making Windows "look cool" but made it slower and less professional. Vista made it even more obvious that Windows was just getting worse, which MS sort of fixed with Windows 7, but then went back to making an even bigger OS disaster with Windows 8. When Windows 10 came out, I was not excited at all, and used it only because it came pre-installed on my laptop, but dreaded it every day. Their offer of "free upgrade to Windows 10" made me even more suspicious because Microsoft is just not known for giving such a large piece of software as an OS for free, and I was certain it was because they were planning to use it as an advertising and selling platform. I have never felt in control with Windows 10, it was as if MS owned my computer and decided what, when and how often to do on it, rather than me, the owner, which is especially true for forced updates and the built-in anti-virus (I never succeeded and getting some of my files back out of the quarantine, and I was a computer technician, for crying out loud). I don't even want to waste a second of my time on Windows 10 and any of the subsequent versions of Windows, as it is clear that Microsoft has lost its senses a long time ago, and decided to make a profit-driven corporate-cloud-controlled OS instead of a solid performing easily used completely independent working machine OS. I like almost everything of the new W11. But the taskbar and the new Start panel make production and interaction slower. Expecially when there is the need (I have that need) to have two rows of icons on the taskbar. I only hope they improve them to make a resizable Start windows and a resizable taskbar.
I actually installed windows 11 just to try it out and see how it is. and to be honest I didn't really like it at all. Ended up having to revert back to windows 10 and am glad I did. Windows 10 just seems alot better and more simple and well detailed.

Great visual comparison. We really need one of these for the "under the hood" changes... what kinds of hardware are no longer supported, how did security change, what is a TPM module, etc. :)
Your hardware doesn't matter. You can still install it but it won't be supported. It;s only advice. It's been installed on a dual core 2014 (not sure of year) system which is definitely not in the min requirements.Everything else has a work around as well.

You can still move it to the top, but not to the sides (yet, maybe). here is a video to show how: th-cam.com/video/RswaXcWWCo0/w-d-xo.html

Let's see.

windows 10 seemed perfect to me from a design point of view, their logo was great (rotated square), and changing the color of windows (using personalization) seemed like a great solution, all this is missing in windows 11.

I am sticking with Windows 7 for now, and looking for a user-friendly alternative aimed at serving the user and not the blind and deaf infinite greed of the company that built it.
P.S.: Sorry for the rant, never planned to make it this long. 😀
if you are a tech, alot of the settings you need to get to quickly are on the right click menu of the start icon...

Linux works just fine, if I have to adjust. The only reason I used Windows was because of the convenient functionality and familiarity of it. Too bad they removed that. Oh well, 28 years of using Windows. It very well may be time to move on. It's totally up to them.
@@claycassin8437 I don't know how it is now, but a normal taskbar without third-party programs calmly returns through the registry. About Linux I've been thinking for a long time, but for now I'm looking for different variants. Maybe I'll put it as a second system.
Thanks for much for making this video. We all really appreciate your time and energy. On the Windows 11 side: I am still struggling to see this as an "upgrade." I just want more performance and be more efficient in what I do. Round corners and a new font does not do that for me.
Look look you've got all the features that you had before. Now hidden for your inconvenience.
Hi, I switched to windows 11 on an old pc and there is a significant difference in the performance for me, it has gotten better, if you do switch to windows 11 and want to go back to windows 10 it’s possible to do that through updates, although you only have 10 days to switch back :)
@@alena8388 That is if the revert actually works. I tried to do it after 4 days, but Microsoft was quite happy to brick my system for me. I will NOT make that mistake again. Goodbye, Microsoft. We had an eventful 28 years together, but I am filing for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.
I appreciate this video and the effort that went into it. Straight to the point and very informative. Bravo!
Thanks for the complete details. As others said, let’s keep windows 10 for how long is possible
My guess is that theyre going to start running things in the taskbar explicitly tied to something in Edge so you have to use edge to use the basic windows function. Forcing people to adopt edge at digital gunpoint essentially.
Edge is the same as Chrome is it not?
@@easternyellowjacket276 If by "the same" you mean "built on Chromium", than yeah.
I switched from chrome to edge a while back and I really like it. It uses up less RAM and is really customizable. It runs on chromium so you can still get all the extensions you would on chrome.
Edge is way better than chrome imo lmao
@@habeebaelwalily3081 while Edge tells MS everything you do..
Thanks for the vid, I'll now remain on win10 for as long as i can :-)
YEP. TILL 2025 no more security updates on win10. ill upgrade to win11 Jan 2022 or less.
@__ hope you have a stronger rig by then bud. My pc is custom build and hi end.
@__ I don't mind the upgrade. i don't understand why ppl are so nervous of windows 11. Can't stay on old windows versions forever with no security and support. you putting yourself and your system at hi risk .MS Has giving ppl many chances and opportunities to get their rigs ready for upgrade and many had failed to do so. also trying to attempt to install win11 on unsupported pc which is a bad idea due to compatibility issues. MS is not responsible for yours and others mistakes and if pc mess up you might not be able to recover windows which will force you to reinstall windows that is if you have the OS disk or usb to reinstall. i don't make a lot like others but worked my butt off to build a strong pc enough to run Windows 11 with no problem. i just had to go in bios to enable TPM 2.0 And boom. all set. awaiting update to upgrade. not gonna force it. not only that new pc games will require to install it on win11. IF YOU WAIT at the last moment you'll have to buy win11 os .win11 is a free upgrade till october 2022 or less. any windows OS there will be bug issues regardless. upgrade while you still can. if not then ok then. can't force ppl like you to upgrade. but i'm going to and can't wait for update to be available for upgrade :)
@__ dude trust me you will like it, just try it out once.
@@keithforce1470 It's not an upgrade.............it's a downgrade!
Great video! Please keep up the good work!

386 was quite outdated by 1996, of course, but it was still a viable, if old, pc, not something antique. I'd say it was back then like some Core 2 Duo running Win7 is now.
@@ivankuzin8388 I remember using my old laptop running windows vista and upgraded to windows 7 and never tried any windows updates because I never realized I needed a update and the windows 7 without any updates just worked fine for me and it was great.
