I'm a clinician for many athletes that ranges throughout all ages. From the amateurs to the pros. I then tested this one guy who was 20 years military and 20+ years (current) firefighter. He was about 67 at the time. He was the most impressive person I had ever seen. I stopped testing (because he could do any movement with ease) and starting writing down anything he said. He said to start with Matt Furey. I have since watched and read anything he tells me to do. Just saying...
OMG the legendary Matt Furey! I obsessed with doing handstand pushups from in between chairs because of you! I mustve been 14 years old or so (34 now) Great to see you on youtube good sir!
Wonderful explanation of the horse stance. I studied the southern shallow style called “Hung Gar Kung Fu”. It stressed the horse stance. To become a blackbelt you had to hold the stance one hour before doing your forms or kata and then sparring afterwards!! Unfortunately the school and teacher dissolved and being in high school distractions set in and this no students no teacher 😢Never made it past green belt level.
Great video! Similar to the nei gong in Gao style bagua, where there is a lot of twisting, rising and falling motions through various movement patterns, but done in a horse riding stance.
I started doing that and started having changes...FINALLY. I can only go down a few inches though. Yeah, something did happen to my kidneys. Very painful for a few seconds. I had a very painful kidney x-ray in my 20s....50 years ago.
Seems like you have some deep internal skill. To me, the turning horse has always been to have a freely moving hip which allows me to take impact from any direction
Is there a "too little" or "too much" horse stancing every day? I am a postman but my left leg is weak! Can someone give me guidance, how to implement H stancing into my everyday life for best results? Thanks!
I'm doing static horse stance when I brush my teeth in the morning and at night. Same for when washing dishes. I just do a little bit as I can each day. It adds up.
Anytime you get a chance👍 Work different levels until you feel equal distribution. Start high, recover, sink lower, recover, etc…. while gradually increasing your time in Mabu/horse stance(as long as there is no blood pressure issues). Don’t overcompensate or the hip/back will be overloaded. Hope you feel better soon👍
@@charlesaldolf7915 the liver is connected to the eyes. Kidneys to the ears and strength from the lower back down. Never heard of it improving eyesight.
TY,1last question how soon can I expect to see results. Also what's the best time to practice the time the kidneys are most active or around 6am, 12PM or 6pm
@Matt Furey What would you consider the upper body version of horse stance? Holding a hand stand push up part of the way down? Half-way push up? Holding a chinup/pullup? All of the above? Something else?
Daily if possible. Any blood pressure issues??…if not, one day work lower for shorter duration & another day work higher stance for longer duration. Keep alternating days until you have the posture, endurance AND proper mechanics to train daily. This position also known as Zhan Zhuang is fantastic to turn off the sympathetic nervous system & heal the body/mind/spirit by triggering the parasympathetic nervous system(rest/digest)!👍
I have both your books since they first came out and this reminds me of your wrestling postures rooting drills. Excellent materials. What's crazy is I've only known of your page here on TH-cam like a week. I'm very appreciative of everything you're sharing Matt, thank you my man. Ps: Darnit! If you didn't get me pumped for those weiggted flexible steel leather coated bear claws. As I shared I really like my body blade and Russian boxing specific training devices. Those bear claws are like a better version of the bodyblade in that you can pulse them in more cutting circular energies vs just up/down flat flexible steel. The bodyblade kicks my butt and the Russian punch fitness for boxing ones are great but I was shocks at the price of the bear claws I think you called them but I was not so turned off as I really wanted some like you have but you said he stop selling them. I love how it feels. Just did 2:20 seconds. THANK YOU SIR.

Matt just keeps getting better with time.
Thank you!

Thanks for this video it’s very helpful I’ve never seen the horse stance where you move
My pleasure. Glad to hear!
4 hours on continuous MaBu. This is why no one messes with the Shaolin monks. Good video.
I've been looking for an effective, brief morning wake up movement and I think this just might be the ticket. Thanks, Matt.
Excellent instructions and insights! Funny too! Your control is unreal!

Great video! Psycho Cybernetics is required reading at our school! Thank you for keeping it widely available
That’s fantastic. Thank you!
Nice job. I plan to do this as an alternative to the static horse stance. I like the idea of the riding posture not just stance. Awesome🤩
Fabulous!
Thank you, Matt. Gonna try this now.
your videos are greater & greater every time
Thank you Matt. I will include this in my exercise.
Excellent

What incredible timing! I was thinking about this last night and BOOM! Here's your video. This is great stuff. Thank you Matt.
Excellent.
They’re in our heads mate... right in there 🤣
Used to do a lot of horse stance training in my Shotokan Karate days.
Thanks for sharing this technique!
Great explanation I like the way you present the information! 👍
Play at 1.25 speed, much better....
yeah true but i played at 1.5 speed
Not all hero’s wear capes… thank you
This is useful
I'm at 1.75 and it's like he did it at that speed.
2x speed is only way to listen to this

TY, you mentioned it works on the internal organs.can you name which organs the Horse Riding stance benefits.
All of them but especially the kidneys.
TY, But does it also improves the eyesight, since according to Chinese taoist theory the kidneys or liver is connected to the eyes

On the new week, I increase 10 seconds.. w goal of 5 min.
Isn't horse stance a static half squat
It usually is but I first learned it with movement in the waist and torso.
Thanks Matt, I still like CC and I will try this.😀

should your toes go over the knees?
No
Not on this type of squat. Others, yes.
