I love that you both wore suits with a bow tie. Funny how Dad turns red during the love scenes. My favorite Bond film is Goldfinger. And Sean Connery is the best Bond in my book.
Yes we did do some consulting which was the best Bond for now. Dad likes Connery too. But Roger Moore in this was pure class. Actually much better than what we was in later films.
I was 12 years old when this film came out. I had the Lotus Esprit model car that converted into a submarine. I bought the Carly Simon single, Nobody Does It Better. I had a poster of Richard Kiel (Jaws) on my bedroom wall next to the movie poster from JAWS.
It's amazing how they take the train to Sardinia. New gadget: underwater train. Hope you guys had a fun time with the first Bond movie (for your son, that is.)
My first Bond film was the following film Moonraker. I introduced my girls when they were a similar age to Bond. Their favourite was (and still is) The Man with the Golden Gun. That is my recommendation, but you really can't go wrong with a classic bond.
For me, the Classy Bond Age ended when Pierce Brosnam got out of the series. Sir Roger Moore is my favorite Bond, for personal reasons, but Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnam are the ones who more resamble the character in the Fleming’s novels. Just for the record, Ian Fleming didn’t like Sean Connery as his 007 agent.
I met Richard Kiel (jaws) at a resort years ago. I was working in the kitchen and I was out back having a smoke when he walked by and said hi. It was the summer after happy Gilmore came out. He was really nice, stopping to chat for a minute. Only one other celebrity ever said hi first and that was Schwarzenegger. Some celebrities are jerks, but most of them are pretty nice. thanks for doing one of my favs! this was fun (: and go back to the start now but, let's not confuse lust with love (: and I hope he knows sharks don't eat people and only harm in self-defence or accidentally or out of curiosity (they haven't got hands lol) and that car actually exists, and hope it's not squid ink, that's terrible, and if he's worried about polluting the ocean, just wait until he finds out what nonhuman fellow animal products involve&cause... I feel bad for Richard Kiel though because that denture was proper painful... and what's funny? poor shark :(
3.31 The sailor smoking is also one of the most well known sci fi villains...Jeremy Bulloch, who played the original Boba Fett in Star Wars. If you look closely at the famous ski stunt, the skis just miss him on the way down.
@@GenerationMediaReaction Thanks, I saw this aged 13 in 1977, the Union Jack parachute almost brough the house down!. Here's a little more trivia: Richard Kiel (Jaws) was almost TV's Incredible Hulk in the 70's. He worked on the pilot but was replaced by bodybuilder-turned-actor Lou Ferrigno. Captain Carter of the US sub is Shane Rimmer, better known as the voice of Scott Tracy in Thunderbirds. Agent XXX boyfriend shot dead in the ski chase was almost 007. He was Mike Billington who played Col Foster in Gerry Andersons sci fi show UFO and he auditioned for Bond himself a few times but didn't get the role. Common today, the jetski Bond uses was brand new at the time and this was - I think - the first time one appeared on-screen. The 007 sound stage housing the giant super tanker interior, was built for this movie. Its also Superman's ice fortress of solitude in the Chris Reeve movies.
Until today, its still listed as one of the most dangerous stunts ever captured on film. The thing with the ski is .... if he had pulled the rope, to release, onle 2-3 seconds later, the ski would have been tangled in the ropes
I've only just discovered your channel and love it. You have covered many of my favourites films - thank you! This particular video takes me back to my dad introducing me to James Bond back in the 1980s. Keep up the great work, gents.
The submarine captain in the opening scene I recognize from “Persuasion” by Jane Austen, a 1971 British tv movie. Bryan Marshall played Captain Wentworth in that movie. He has a long list of credits and passed away in 2019. Also, Barbara Bach, the beautiful Russian spy, was married to Beatle Ringo Starr in 1981.
This was so much fun to watch! 😁 Big bond fan. I think your son would really love Goldfinger - brilliant villians 👌 looking forward to seeing more 007 😎
1:09:00 nice reaction. due to a little sci-fi film called Star Wars, the Bond producers chose to make Moonraker before filming For Your Eyes Only. Glad i found your channel, now to check out your other reactions and looking forward to more Bond reactions!
13:40 "I don't think you're going to see anything like Jaws." Ten minutes later... 😂😂😂 I hope you try a few from each Bond-actor if you don't want do them all. This was a fun watchalong.
@@GenerationMediaReaction Lol, sorry, yer asking the wrong person, I watch all of them. I can't pick just one Connery. Maybe you could do a poll with your audience? I just hope you two keep at it, yer wonderful.
If you get a chance, please check out national lampoons Christmas vacation or European vacation. I really think you both would love that movie. If you haven’t seen it before Chevy Chase it’s pretty funny…. And Waterworld with Kevin Costner is an excellent adventure that I think he would like As well as the movie goonies by Steven Spielberg
I was 13 when this film came out and fell in love with Barbara Bach lol. Funny thing, the actual book, as written, must be the strangest of all the Bond novels and is very hard to find these days. I have a paperback copy dating from the 60s...its a VERY Strange book, written in the first person by 'Vivian Michelle'! I think Fleming was going through some 'issues' when he wrote the story! The film is of course, awesome: Apart from Ms Bach, I also fell in love with Lotus Esprit's and Bell-Jetrangers!
Dudes. You guys are awesome. Remeber Data from The Gooonies changed his name to 007 after Mikey called him "Double O Negative". For GREAT submarine films watch "The Hunt for Red October" or "Crimson Tide". But for an epic journey... "DANCES with WOLVES". I look forward to seeing you blokes watch more adult films as well like Steven Speilberg's "EMPIRE of the SUN". Where a 10 year old British boy (played by a young "bat" boy Christain Bale), separated from his parents in China during WWII, uses his wits and charm to survive the Japanese concentration camps. I saw this film when I was 6 and watched it often as a kid. Such a powerful film. anyways, you guys rock. ✌
A few funfacts to the Liparus tanker..... When the interieur set was build, it was the largest ilmset ever created. When they asked the set-coordinator (a very shortsighted man) where they should hang the lights for filming, he answered "I cant even see the end of the bloody set, hang ém where you like" Also, they looked for weeks to find a good looking tanker. When they found one, they asked the captain for filming permits and started with fly-by filming. However when they got back to the studio, it turned out, the film was unusable, they only got fotos. However, return to the tanker was expensive, so they asked their model works team, to build a remote controlled small model of the tanker. It turned out stunning, there was not one real image of the tanker in the the finished film. But the best part, the captain of the real tanker was an honored guest at the premiere, he was reported to ask "How did you get this stunning images of my ship?" He did not notice the model, thats how perfect it was.
After The Spy Who Loved Me, the producers intended to make For Your Eyes Only. But because of the huge success of Star Wars, (released at the same time as The Spy...), they made Moonraker instead. Jaws returns in Moonraker.
"James Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only," it says at the end of the credits for "The Spy Who Loved Me." That was the original plan, obviously. But that's not what happened. You see, another movie was released in that same year, 1977, that changed everything. The name of the film was “Star Wars.” And it sent the producers of the Bond films into a scramble to see if there was some Ian Fleming property they hadn’t tackled yet that would allow them to immediately cash-in on the post-“Star Wars” sci-fi craze. There was-“Moonraker.” And so “Moonraker” actually wound-up being the next film in the series, with “For Your Eyes Only” following after that.
You really should see them in chronological order! James Bond is SCOTTISH, not just 'British'. Please go see DR. NO (1962), FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (1963), GOLDFINGER ('64), THUNDERBALL ('65), my personal favorite YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE ('67), and so on ... Supermodel Barbara Bach is the 'Bond Girl' here (XXX), and she married Ringo Starr (Respect). They are still happily married (major RESPECT). This is also one of the best theme songs in this franchise. The gadgets were always a big part of each film, and many of them were actual working models. You shouldn't expose young laddie to Austin Powers until you have the Bond films firmly under belt, or the jokes and references will just fall flat!
You picked the best James Bond film to start with. Best Bond girl, best villain henchmen, and Roger Moore was still young enough to be cool. I'm probably biased though cause this was my first Bond movie and saw it in the theater as a kid of 10 or 11. You should probably do Moonraker next to wrap up the Jaws' arc. Happy ending amiright? Best Bond overall for me though, definitely Daniel Craig's Casino Royale.
@@GenerationMediaReaction There is an older movie with Bill Murray called Meatballs. It is a coming of age comedy, about a young man going to Summer Camp for the first time. Lots of fun and plenty of hijinks.
Could I recommend ET, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, D.A.R.Y.L., Cloak & Dagger and The Bad News Bears to watch with your son? They were my favourites as a kid. Love you reactions.
Hi Gents, This was the first Bond film that I got to see in the cinema, age 14. I saw some of the earlier films on TV. This one hooked me for good. My personal favourite is On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
The Bond series, especially the older ones are a progression before what today is seen as 'typical Bond' is slowly established. In the first movie he is mostly a real spy, the only thing typical Bond was the exotic location and the villains lair. The gadgets were slowly introduced movie by movie as well as other things like the one-liners. The budget ballooned out of control over time and was cut back for a few movies. I think in the 80's they started to get a better feel for the size of the budget and what to do with it from a production point of view. For several reasons I got me the original novel to 'Goldfinger' and noted that for full adaption of that one the budget would have to be even higher than it was. One day I should really get the rest of the novels just to see where else the budget wasn't enough for a full adaption. For several reasons my favourite bond is 'You only live twice' (1967).
Thx for your reaction 🤵🏻♂️ Nobody does it better 🤭 This one has one of my fav bond songs. The one liners are great in the older bond movies. Sean Connery is my fav bond. Now if you excuse me, England needs me 🤵🏻♂️ 🇬🇧😎
If you ever show your son a Sean Connery episode, it should be "You Only Live Twice". Of all the other Bond films, It is the most similar to "The Spy Who Loved Me". Actually, I think I have that backwards. Since "You Only Live Twice" came first, I guess you would say that "The Spy Who Loved Me" is most similar to it!
A good introduction to 007, I suggest watching at least one movie from all of the six actors to get a good idea of how James Bond has evolved over 60 years. I suggest 'Goldfinger' (Sean Connery), 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (George Lazenby), 'The Living Daylights' or 'License to Kill' (Timothy Dalton), 'Goldeneye' (Pierce Brosnan) and Casino Royale or Skyfall (Daniel Craig)
I really enjoy the more ‘grounded’ Bond films (From Russia, With Love, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, For Your Eyes Only, etc), but I fully accept, to appreciate those, one also needs to also enjoy the ‘great, big, fun Bond films’ as well. 🙂 I look forward to ya’ll having lots of fun with all of them!
If you are pursuing the other Bonds, then watch the following: Sean Connery - Dr. No ; George Lazenby - On Her Majesty's Secret Service ; Timothy Dalton - The Living Daylights ; Pierce Brosnan - Golden Eye & Daniel Craig - Casino Royale!!
Oh, and if you've never seen it, you should look up on TH-cam the Alan Partridge clip where he describes the opening to this film to his friends. It's hilarious. I'm sure searching for "Alan Partridge" and "James Bond" is sufficient enough to turn it up in the results. 😊
I just found this. I love this film and I miss Roger Moore. RIP. Fun fact, Roger Moore play James Bond Longer than any other actor and he Was d*** good, hence my screen name here. Love you tuxedoes....❤ FYI...... That fish, that Strongberg was testing Bond with is nicknamed the scorpion fish.
I've loved Spy Who Loved Me. Great theme, grat action, grat romance. But, to a new entry in the franchise, I wold preffer to show Golden Eye to the kid.
I wrestle with whether this or For Your Eyes Only is the best Moore Bond film. If you're interested in seeing a more grounded story with Roger as Bond, you couldn't do much better. I think it's seriousness started the evolution to the modern take that Craig had and Dalton and Bronson added to the character.

Glad you liked it. I love how we all share experiences with the films.
thanks for doing one of my favs! this was fun (: and go back to the start now
but, let's not confuse lust with love (: and I hope he knows sharks don't eat people and only harm in self-defence or accidentally or out of curiosity (they haven't got hands lol) and that car actually exists, and hope it's not squid ink, that's terrible, and if he's worried about polluting the ocean, just wait until he finds out what nonhuman fellow animal products involve&cause...
I feel bad for Richard Kiel though because that denture was proper painful... and what's funny? poor shark :(
3.31 The sailor smoking is also one of the most well known sci fi villains...Jeremy Bulloch, who played the original Boba Fett in Star Wars. If you look closely at the famous ski stunt, the skis just miss him on the way down.
oh wow, thats good trivia!
@@GenerationMediaReaction Thanks, I saw this aged 13 in 1977, the Union Jack parachute almost brough the house down!.
Here's a little more trivia:
Richard Kiel (Jaws) was almost TV's Incredible Hulk in the 70's.
@mark-nm4tc ,, Jeremy Bulloch also appears in two later Bond films "For Your Eyes Only" & "Octopussy" as Smithers who works for Q - Branch .....
Glad you like them!
This was my first Bond movie on ITV when it premiered in about 1981. Great choice. Jaws returns in the next movie too “Moonraker”.
I completely forgot that this movie involves submarines. I served on Submarines during the first Gulf War.
Ah, enjoy this then. It's great how it integrates the British and US Navy, especially at the end.
This was so much fun to watch! 😁 Big bond fan. I think your son would really love Goldfinger - brilliant villians 👌 looking forward to seeing more 007 😎
Thanks so much! 😊
1:09:00 nice reaction. due to a little sci-fi film called Star Wars, the Bond producers chose to make Moonraker before filming For Your Eyes Only. Glad i found your channel, now to check out your other reactions and looking forward to more Bond reactions!
ah, this makes sense. Thanks for that.
13:40 "I don't think you're going to see anything like Jaws."
Ten minutes later... 😂😂😂
I hope you try a few from each Bond-actor if you don't want do them all. This was a fun watchalong.
Yes we will. Which Connery is best for a young audience do you think ?
@@GenerationMediaReaction Lol, sorry, yer asking the wrong person, I watch all of them. I can't pick just one Connery. Maybe you could do a poll with your audience?
I just hope you two keep at it, yer wonderful.
As usual, I love watching a movie with you guys.. It reminds me of time I used to spend with my dad watching movies…
Glad you enjoy them.
I look forward to seeing you blokes watch more adult films as well like Steven Speilberg's
"EMPIRE of the SUN". ✌
Thank you - Good shout with those titles!
I still have my James Bond submarine Lotus toy car from back in the day. I think it was made by Corgi
Keep it forever !
I had a Corgi toy of another Ian Fleming car as a kid: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
A few funfacts to the Liparus tanker..... When the interieur set was build, it was the largest ilmset ever created. When they asked the set-coordinator (a very shortsighted man) where they should hang the lights for filming, he answered "I cant even see the end of the bloody set, hang ém where you like"
Also, they looked for weeks to find a good looking tanker.
I watched this at the cinema when I was 10 in 1977. Got my first Lotus esprit in 1993..
You guys are looking very dapper 😎👍
Well you know... keeping the British end up!
Hi to you both from John in scotland.the actress Barbara Bach who plays agent xxx was the wife of ringo starr .enjoying your reactions.
i LOVE the matching tuxedos. 🙂
My father and I shared the experience of seeing "Jeremiah Johnson" in 1972 - our favorite mountain man movie and one I believe you'd both enjoy.
Thank you
You picked the best James Bond film to start with.
You've got to feel bad for Jaws . He tries so hard , but never catches a break .
Jaws almost steals the show!
It's a role he could really sink his teeth into
@@tobyhart 😆good one !
He catches a break at the end of Moonraker.
Well that was fun!
I grew going to the theatre for every James Bond movie that came out. Never disappointed. Enjoy the ride 😊
What should be next do you think?
@@GenerationMediaReaction
There is an older movie with Bill Murray called Meatballs.
59:04 Now there’s a Godzilla crossover we never knew we needed 😂
Funny you mention Godzilla... we are thinking of watching it soon!
Hi Gents,
This was the first Bond film that I got to see in the cinema, age 14. I saw some of the earlier films on TV.
This one hooked me for good.
My personal favourite is On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
It's good to see these older Bonds still stand very well in this modern day
The Bond series, especially the older ones are a progression before what today is seen as 'typical Bond' is slowly established.
Thx for your reaction 🤵🏻♂️
Nobody does it better 🤭
This one has one of my fav bond songs.
The one liners are great in the older bond movies.
Sean Connery is my fav bond.
Now if you excuse me, England needs me 🤵🏻♂️
🇬🇧😎
Keep the British end up please !
Cool Tuxedos guys.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Yes we thought Moore was more approachable for a young audience and intro. Do you think Goldfinger is ok for a young one ?
@@GenerationMediaReaction I'd say Goldfinger is okay for 12/13 and up. The movie quite honestly hasn't aged well, very 60's and very riskay.
I look forward to ya’ll having lots of fun with all of them!
Yeah, this viewing was chosen for the youngun
Ian Fleming also wrote "Chitty Chitty bang bang". I would love to see that reaction too.
oooo the Childcatcher !
@@GenerationMediaReaction he taught me not to take candy from strangers. Benny Hill was the Toy Maker.
7:21 Good observation! 👍 Roger Moore does just that in 'View to a Kill', which is a few films after this one.
Hehe, maybe they changed it because of a similar thought!
Barbara Bach who plays Tripple X is Married to Ringo Starr of The Beatles!
Lookin' sharp, chaps!
well, you know... :-)
If you are pursuing the other Bonds, then watch the following:
Sean Connery - Dr. No ; George Lazenby - On Her Majesty's Secret Service ; Timothy Dalton - The Living Daylights ; Pierce Brosnan - Golden Eye & Daniel Craig - Casino Royale!!
1:00:58 Leaf blower ! Wow it does look like a leaf blower !
It does!
Love the tuxedos! Fun stuff!
Oh, and if you've never seen it, you should look up on TH-cam the Alan Partridge clip where he describes the opening to this film to his friends. It's hilarious. I'm sure searching for "Alan Partridge" and "James Bond" is sufficient enough to turn it up in the results. 😊
Thanks for watching!
Remember There Are Others That Played Bond A Good Rounded Group Of These Bonds Are Also Helpful To Understand The Franchise Of 007 Bond
yeah, you're starting a good journey there !
Love to see a new Bond fan! Jaws is in Moonraker.
***Spoiler alert*** So is James Bond.
Looking very dapper Gents! haha
3:33 Boba Fett in the middle !
oh wow !
Triple X is Ringo Starr's Wife, Barbara Bach.
I just found this. I love this film and I miss Roger Moore. RIP. Fun fact, Roger Moore play James Bond Longer than any other actor and he Was d*** good, hence my screen name here. Love you tuxedoes....❤
FYI...... That fish, that Strongberg was testing Bond with is nicknamed the scorpion fish.
Awesome, we are glad we picked this one 😎
I've loved Spy Who Loved Me. Great theme, grat action, grat romance. But, to a new entry in the franchise, I wold preffer to show Golden Eye to the kid.
Roger Moore's best !
Jaws does return in the next couple films, I believe. Great reaction!! You two should continue watching the Roger Moore Bond films.
Do you think we should back to the first Roger Moore film to begin with?
@@GenerationMediaReaction up to you, but the next 2 films are iconic, maybe just do the next one and see how you feel?
The SAS E Squadron is known as The Increment and reportedly operates licence to kill in UK & anywhere in the world. If you wanted to do this for real!
Your son will enjoy Moonraker. Definitely watch it. Jaws is in it again.
この少年が、もしかしたら25年後にボンドを演じることになるかもしれないなどと妄想すると、夢があるよな
38:17 "Handsome but deadly"
Yeah great line!
You should react to the other film with jaws in it it’s called moon raker
You guys should watch the movie Risskies. I think you two might enjoy it.
1:07:43 What about Jaws ?
Well .. He's in the next Bond film as well .. Moonraker.

Moonraker next! Jaws is in it!
This has all the free flowing spontaneity of a terrorist hostage video.
Nobody has mentioned it but if you look closely at Stromberg he has webbed fingers...
not sure about Craigs bond movies ,but the older ones allways were filmed on original locations around the world.
Yes, this is something we really enjoyed. It's shame locations are not as appreciated as much as they were.
You guys should put "The Hunt for Red October" on your to-view list. Awesome cold war submarine movie about a rogue experimental Russian high tech nuclear sub commanded by Sean Connery. I think it came out in 1990
This is a good suggestion, thank you. Suitable for kids?
@@GenerationMediaReaction Oh yeah! I think your son will love it. And you too
Oh and by the way you both look Smashing 😂
hehe... it was a last minute decision!
Show your son Goldfinger and From Russia with Love next.
Before watching Austin Powers you should Dr No (original Bond Film),Goldfinger, and You Only Live Twice to get all the jokes.
OK, thank you!
