      Hi Johnny, thanks! yeah the single cams can handle a surprising amount of boost considering they were intended for economy and parts are dirt cheap compared to Bseries stuff, boosting on a budget, I will be testing the how reliable the stock motor is at 220whp soon.

      Hi, the D-Series stock can be a bit gutless from factory, but boosted they can make 200-220whp on a stock motor fairly easy. 350hp for you get forged rods, pistons and ARP hardware. some guys making over 500hp but that becomes real expensive quickly. a B, H or K series is better but Dseries is by far the cheapest power up to the 350hp mark.

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Solemn, yes the vtec should be noticeable and sounds good, the A7 has a high comp piston and the Z6 has a high comp head so that combo is going to bump the compression quite a bit, use the online tool to calculate the compression ratio before you try it. It could just go to high. Only way to find the sohc vyec head is to check FB marketplace every day, also join the local Honda groups on FB, that's how I found mine.

    im doing a reassembly this weekend. my beater car died so i decided to throw an 80.00 rebuild kit and some machine shop at it. i hope to get another couple hundred thousand out of it. i tried to find a new engine or used with warranty but they were all over 1200-2400.00 so i opted to give rebuilding a go at about 600 bucks.

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi bro, yes rebuild VS replacement motor depends a lot on where you from, if you rebuild and all your clearance and torque specs are correct, your oil pressure is good it will easy do 100k more miles, are you changing pistons to oversize?

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh okay, changing just the rings and doing a cylinder wall hone will work, but it may have a bit more blow by as the sleeves do wear out a bit causing the ring gaps to open up a bit, but if it's just for economy you probably won't notice, I have done it like that before. It was all good

    I have a d15b bottom end with oil dipstick in the same location like yours and I’ll like to know if the crank is the same diameter of a d16? So I want to use a z6 crank and d16 rods in the d15b block

    • @NDPerformance21
      @NDPerformance21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the block was a jdm d15b block dual vtec and someone at some point took the head off

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi EJP it may not work because the D15 crank has a shorter stroke, meaning the D16 rods and crank combo could push the piston topss out of the block deck. Some D15B vtec cranks have the same big end journal size as a D16. So the D15 crank could work with D16 rods but the pistons may still poke out the deck a bit. But a thick headgasket may solve the issue.

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The JDM D15B has a D15 crank with D16 size journals and D16 rods, but the block has a lower deck hight than the D16 so it uses special pistons (not easy to find) use the zeal auto works compression calculator tool online as it will tell you the piston to dech hight for the combination you want to use.

      Hi Conffetti, glad it was helpful. the motor build took me 4 days working alone and filming. it is very possible to build a motor in 1 day if you have everything ready. installing the motor was also 4 days working alone, but if you have someone helping you and all the parts ready it can be done in 1 day. this does not include the time I spent cleaning and painting every part. if you need to pull the motor and strip it will be 1 more day if you have a engine hoist. engineering shops can sometimes take weeks to finish the work needed. i was mostly held up by waiting on parts, not having a part because I forgot to buy it. if you are from USA I would recommend getting a import motor unless you plan to build for boost.

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, what is wrong with the engine? smoke? blow-by? a very basic rebuild is new bearings (main/big-end/thrust), new piston rings and valve stem seals. also get a full gasket set so you can replace all the seals. that is a minimum, however there is a lot more, valve guides and valve seats (new valves if needed), Sleeve wear - sleeves bore oversize and new oversize pistons. cam and crank polishing, (cut if needed). new water and oil pump. it all depends on how worn out the engine is. normally a machine shop can measure clearances and tell you what is necessary to replace and what not. 300000 kms is alot but these motors can handle it. I have a 305000kms k24 motor that still runs like a dream, no smoke and not a single leak.

      Hi Senhor, if you bore 0.5mm oversize you must get matching 0.5mm oversize pistons. my block had damage on the sleeves so I had to get it bored and pistons is a must, the same pistons will not work. pistons is not so expensive but stock honda pistons gets pressed onto the rods so engineering shop must fit the pistons for you. unless you buy aftermarket pistons and rods. boosting will work, similar to my setup but keep the power to 200whp if you boost on stock internals. then you should be good. rods and head studs fail first on these motors after about 230whp

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kyle, there is a few different types of vtec, avoid the vtec-e heads, they are for economy and have much smaller intake values and valve springs, also vtec-e makes the car a 12valve by disabling 1 intake valves so there is no performance gains, just economy. The performance vtec heads are very good, bigger intake runners. For boost you can use a non-vtec head, it will work just fine, performance vtec is a bit better. Check your engine code, if you have a performance vtec motor leave it as is, if its vtec-e swop on any head that is not vtec-e

      Hi Mike, the D15B7 will give you slightly higher compression ratio because of the B7 pistons. NA I dont belive a D15vtec will make any more power because of the 100cc loss over the D16Z6. In my case a turbo D15Z4 can make 220whp without vtec. I did the swop because I had the head and SOCH Vtec heads are rare, so it is a interesting swop. But for best results stick to a D16 bottom and vtec if you going NA or aiming for high boosted power.

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Joakim, the D15z6 is a vtec-e motor, this is sadly not good for power as the vtec-e is economy orientated, disabling 1 intake valve to increase fuel economy. The biggest mod you can do is to swop the cylinder head to a non vtec or a p08/p2j vtec head. Get a p08 or p2p intake and a exhaust from the D16A6 EG as it is a 4-2-1. Other mods like a B20 throttle body can also help. Keep in mind this may require some changes to the wiring and ecu. Best way may be to just swop in a D16Z6 or D16Y8. They are factory vtec motors.

      Hi Jordan, I Believe the B7 is the EG Dseries, slightly different but it can work, however your plug leads wont fit the different SOHC vtec head, you will need a vernier cam pulley otherwise your timing will be out by half a tooth, and you need to remove the oil restrictor in the block. Try to get the Z6 (PO8) intake manifold, the B7 has smaller runners. Also your stock ECU can't run the vtec so you may need to get a chipped or D16Z6 ECU. there may be a few more small things, but you can definitely swop a vtec head onto your B7.

    If its a forged conrod with high compression piston, that beast makes more power

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi MFBNA, yes forging the motor would have made it capable of a lot more power. at the time I could not source the parts needed so I went with stock.

    does anyone know if a y8 head works on a d15b2 block?

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Noah, yes it will work in terms of bolt on. You will need an adjustable cam gear to make timing marks line up. Also you will need plug wires and gasket for the Y8. This setup will have a higher compression. But if you want more gains try get the ecu and loom from the Y8 so you can get the MPFI also.

    • @RisingBoostYT
      @RisingBoostYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi hewfil, YES - Z6 Head will fit a D16Y, you may need 1 longer head stud to make it work. als the dizzy from a Y series will only bolt on with 1 bolt to the Z6 head. but should be fine like that.

      as long as you buy quality parts you should have no issues try to get trusted brands, the motor is holding up good so far. I had to buy the parts from a parts shop, could not order online as I am from South Africa so the shipping costs will be more than the parts. so sadly I don't have any product links. I used MEGA gasket set, King bearings. not too expensive but still decent parts.

    • @RisingBoostYT

      True, but we have a Bswop coming soon, so no use dumping money into the sohc build. they can handle 220whp in stock form so we will pushing it to the max and see if it lasts. if it blows up the B18V is waiting. also more fun making power on a budget. 100s of channels dumping big money into builds, I want to see what the motor can do if I cheap out on just about everything.
