      I’m also getting 100-350 with amplified box it was pulling 650 during the 15 day free trial, I also live in a rural area. We either don’t have a choice for internet or have a coop that’s charging 120 a month just for the 30 MEG internet service. Tmobike became available in my area November 2024 I was on the list for 5 or so years when they contacted me about the service being available.. so T-Mobile for the price is way better. But it’s not as steady as the traditional landline, and it doesn’t allow the kids to play certain games on PlayStation due to NAT

    I have had T-Mobile 5G Home internet for over a year now. The stock gateway was not working for me very well with spotty signal / speed. I bought the Chester Cheetah Router with the SDX65 modem. I have had no outages with the Cheetah and get consistent 150mb to 300 mb speeds with no external antenna. I only get 7 to 10 mb upload but it works fine for us. Every bill from T-Mobile has been $50 with all taxes for unlimited data, so we are very happy with the service. Thanks for all the reviews, you inspired me to try this on my own.

    Marketing update: I just signed up today and part to the assessment process was to ask you the square footage of your home. If it's over 1200 then they have the "professional opinion" that you need the Amplified vs the Rely.
    Being that I am already Tmobile with paperless billing the $45 worked better than the near $80 that ATT had crept up to.

    I was for a short time with this 5G offering. The good - the process of getting the hardware was easy. Support at every level (for me) was excellent. When all hooked up, I was very happy to find the sweet spot in a room and get great speed. The bad - the speed fluctuates and on certain days and times, it would drop to truly unusable speeds. The bottom line is, it appears that 5G internet users are last to be serve from the local tower(s) as phone users get first access. I could be wrong about the latter but doubt it. Sadly, I had to return the equipment and go back to traditional cable for now. I'll say it again - the biggest challenge for me was when there was traffic congestion with the tower, my internet speed just didn't suffer it became unusable at times.

    • @NaterTater

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You can always add your own wifi if desired. The double NAT always exists due to T-mobile's CGNAT, adding your own router/mesh with NAT enabled is actually triple NAT. You can now only disable some of the tmobile wifi th-cam.com/video/Qy-f8xfPk4s/w-d-xo.html but again that doesn't stop you from adding your own wifi. Business plans with paid static IP can help get rid of the CGNAT.

    Love your channel, Nate. I've had them so long, I had the 4G white one. Then I got the Nokia silver trashcan. It finally died. Fortunately, a local store had one, and you are right about the Gateways, I got the newer white with external antenna connections. My biggest complaint with them is that they are always upgrading, and I have to keep unplugging the gateway. My speeds go from 50 to over 400mbs. I have 2 towers,1 is 1 mile and the other is 2 miles. I would think being that close, I would get Excellent reception.

      @NaterTater I agree and their tech support has been better, but it depends on the tech. I know they are upgrading but I just wish I could talk to an engineer as they call them. Last night I had 415mbs on my phone and 315 on my laptop. Today around 200 cell and 52 on laptop. I'll call them tomorrow and maybe get someone that knows what they are doing. I've had a few that know what they are doing. We'll see. And thank you for all your help, you are one of the few really cares. Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family.

    What are your thoughts on the FCC broadband label differences? Over a 100mbit difference between rely and amplified plans.
    Several users on reddit have been reporting some massive speed drops on the old plans since the introduction of the new amplified plans. Even users with G4AR and G4SE gateways.
    Thoughtsm Did TMO change prioritization for their plans to push people to use the amplified plan?
    Would love to see some tests run showing differences between plans during "peak" times on a moderately congested tower.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not convinced that t-mobile is treating the SIM any different from Rely to Amplified plans. Maybe they have data the G4AR/G4SE is a little faster, hence the data label differences. I would believe that tmobile is now being more selective on who gets what gateway. I think the folks complaining their speed is all of a sudden slowing down is just regular variation that happens to align with the new plan announcements. I could be wrong, it'll take some time to confirm.

    • @QuentinStoneYT
      @QuentinStoneYT หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm also one of the ones affected.
      I'm getting less than half of my normal download speeds down to what aligns with the old FCC label max speeds ever since the announcement. Before the announcement, I was getting over 600. This is even before hitting the 1.2 TB limit.

    They need to stop locking you to a specific tower. I had a situation where they had a connection issue at the tower, but the tower was still talking to my modem. The result is that no internet and it wouldn't go look for another tower because the primary tower connection was working. After messing around long enough, I managed to get into my Cheetah and switch it to LTE which uses a different tower. Had to stay like that for a couple weeks while they fixed the issue with the 5g tower.
    I only know there was an issue with the 5g tower because I finally called them, once I knew what was happening, that's when I switched back to LTE. Without a BYO modem, the customer would not be able to do this and why the tower lock is a problem.

    It is not worth it. I have the "All-In Home Internet," and if you have more than five devices connected at the same time, you’ll notice that TH-cam and Netflix take several seconds to load. If you want to stream your PS5 games from a PlayStation Portal while outside your home, good luck with that. With fiber expansion around the country, and TMo having the geo-fencing of their product and price increases, the only benefit of not getting fiber is because it's not available. I, for one, will strongly consider fiber as soon as it is available, and according to AT&T, it will be sometime next year for my street.
