@ No it’s $10 for 6 months totaling $60. So back to original price monthly. Back to $77.37 (including tax) where it would’ve gone up to $87.37 (with tax).
For what we pay... there should be NO commercials. I started ATT TV (before Direct TV Stream) at $35. They bought direct tv and price went to $45, I dont remember ANYTHING priced in the $50's but was at $63 for a few years as I was "grandfathered" into a level they don't have anymore, then they just started matching their lowest tier and giving me more stuff I don't want. We should be able to a la cart our streaming stuff.
My bill has been going up and up and UP! It hit $187 and they said they’d send me a credit for the adjustment. Never got it , the bill went back to $156 for ONE MONTH AND THEN IT JUMPED TO $222+ ! I quit. Won’t even do their offer of $110/ month. Sending their equipment back. We have Netflix through our cell phone service and Amazon prime. Looking into iptv but it looks so shady.
I started with Direct TV also at $35 but when it went up to $50 I switched to Philo for $20/month and still that even though new subscribers pay $28. They have only raised prices twice since we signed up in April of 2019. We could have upped out DVR with the increase to $25 but we don’t have too much trouble with things expiring before we can watch the things saved so opted to stay with our $20 plan. The new price point allowed for longer save times.
My cable and internet is $200 for the lowest tiers. I get local TV and 15 channels of my choice. It’s crazy. I watch sports. That’s it. I’m old enough to remember rabbit ears to watch locals. Then we got 14 cable channels - no commercials, except locals- and didn’t have to move the antenna every time dad told us to. After the Super Bowl, I’m done.
I canceled you tube TV starting January 13. I don’t know if I will continue on with anyone else. $83 was to much to swallow just so I can watch the news channel I like.
If the cost of the streaming services keeps increasing, then they will bring or should I say they could even legitimize getting cable again……. If I were the cable TV companies, I would start lowering my prices immediately they will get people coming back.
I just noticed that Sling TV may have just increased their prices too. I swear a month ago that when I was looking at Sling TV Blue regular price online it was $40-something per month --- but now it shows $50.99
@@scottb.4472 cable is expensive but it's so straight forward. None of this app smorgasbord and trying to remember which app shows what. I left cable three months ago. I am considering going back, despite the price.
Streaming "Live" sports will leave millions in the dust. There are many people who don't stream and rely on over the air TV. This past NFL season I've heard people saying they "Couldn't watch the game(s)" because they were on NFL Network, Prime Video or Netflix. Streaming will decrease Live Sports viewership. And they''ll wonder why their ratings are decreasing.
NFL average tenure of players is 3-4 years. Personally, I need to place faces with the players. Once I can't do that, the sport is dead to me forever. I was a NE Pats fine (when they were still good). My nephew played DIV 1 College football, full scholarship. Games were on TV every Saturday. Went to minor Bowl Games, but Bowl Games. I wasn't going to give my Saturdays and Sundays up for football. Saturday won. He graduated. I tried to get back to the Pats. Brady was still with the team. Other than him and maybe 4-5 players, I didn't know the team. I quit. Now? They are horrible. Why would I want to waste my time on horrible?
I remember when streaming was only $25 a month. That's why I "cut the cord". Sling TV has been inching up over the $50 mark; that's my threshold. I'm cancelling when my subscription ends in this month. I'll keep Netflix but may cancel them too if they do what they've threatening; adding Ads! OTA is looking pretty good right now.
As long as ATSC 3.0 and the idiotic thing that the OTA industry wants. No DVR capabilities and the OTA signals being encrypted. You would need a box to grab the OTA signal and the box would have to be hooked to the internet to get the latest de-encryption codes. So, you'd need a tuner to watch OTA signals handed out by the federal gov. Signals that have been free for 70+ years. TV sets with that built in, right now need a license (a couple of $$$$). I think LG told the license holder to pound sand and isn't putting the chip(s) in.
I have Netflix, they do show ads on the lower tier plan. But so far only about 3-4 per hour show and they’re 30 seconds. That I have no problems with that at all. Prime has been injecting as many commercials as regular TV. I can’t stand it sometimes.
I cancelled TH-cam TV years ago. I originally signed up the 1st month YTTV offered service, I was told I would be GRANDFATHERED in on price (price would NEVER increase). 1 year later the price went up. I cancelled the same day.
I don't like the way these on demand services keep expanding and adding content I personally don't even want which will surely increase the price. It feels like cable all over again.
Do you still pay for internet service? I'm trying to figure out how to 'cut the cord'. But no matter what, I still need an internet service. So I'm not actually cutting the cord, per se.
Same here today make a year since I cut the cord I have total wireless and I have Disney plus with my plan I also have Netflix which I love Netflix more then ever I was always about netflix but now Iove netflix
I'm old. I remember when there were only TWO tv channels!! Finally there were three (CBS,ABC, and NBC). The commercials just gave us a chance to fix a sandwich or use the bathroom (no pause functions back then!) We got SOO excited when HBO premiered!! $10 a month and NO commercials and first run movies (but you had to have cable!). NOW we have to pay for streaming tv AND tolerate commercials. I still have my DIRECTV and Dish satellite dishes and they're starting to look more plausible!!!
We have DIRECTV but I just cancelled after over 20 years with them. They kept increasing my bill and it went from nearly $200 a month to over that. I quit
I thankfully cut the cable cord back in 1996 for several reasons. Seeing that TV shows were reducing actual show time and increasing commercial run time, watching the same commercials over and over for items I have no interest in, constant yearly increases for minimal if any content increase and having to buy bundled packages that included content I was not interested in. I have not bought a new flat screen since 2010. I use the broadcast airwaves to watch sports and that is about it. Even then I usually get sick of the same commercials advertising over priced cars/trucks, garbage fast food, repeating the same insurance commercials and smart phones that cost way too much.
People "cut the cord" because the cable TV systems charge too much, yet when you add up your fees for streaming services you aren't saving much any more.
It's insane that Prime charges extra to be ad free. I mean, look how much membership already costs. You'd think that'd be more than enough to cover the need to not charge for ads.
@@factchecker1980 you are so right. This month alone shipping would have cost me over twice what prime charges me. And there's so much to watch on prime.
The only reason I subscribed to TH-cam TV at the beginning was because of their DVR. When the cost went up to the 70s I about choked and quit and now the 80s? If I wanted to pay that kind of money, I just get cable or satellite.
Starting next month we ditch TH-cam TV on a trial basis. Thanks for the news on the price increase. Purchased a TABLO and flat OTA antenna for locals. Most other things we watch are on Frndly or can be streamed. Thanks again!!
We just cut the cord and cancelled our Comcast cable TV....we've been with them since 2009...we spent $18,000 total for basic broadcast TV and 300mb of internet..that's insane...half of that was the TV...we now have a smart TV and have found it has everything we need. If more people kicked TV to the curb they'd have to come down or go out of business.
Either watch ads (commercials) on paid cable and streaming channels, or ads on free streaming services. Hard to get away from ads at all. Sports are also coming back to free over the air TV across the US. TV rights for regional pro sports teams are very lucrative for TV networks. More eyeballs means airtime is more expensive for commercial time during live sports. I agree with you about Pluto, Roku and Tubi being the best free streaming services out there. Bottom line: get a TV antenna for free local OTA television, and enjoy the free streaming services too. Be selective about the paid subscription services you give your money to.
pihole works on all ad version of streams plus pluto etc streams, yt and internet. No ads on hulu, netflix, disney, prime, internet, email etc for every device on network FREE. save $$$ ez
I did the cancel for the 6 month price lock… but after 6 months I’m out. I pay $65 flat for fiber gig, and the 73 for YTTV. I’ll just round that to 140 a month total. Spectrum in my area is starting to compete on price, and it’s $145 for their gig plan + TV, plus I wouldn’t need to use a VPN to get my RSNs… simplifying my life to make that measly $5 savings a bit more worthwhile.
Canceled already and not renewing NFL Sunday ticket either for 25-26. I’m done. 😂. Next up Amazon Prime. Need to account for my frequently ordered products to make sure Target carries them.
The streaming services have become ridiculous in what they charge. I eliminated cable over 10 years ago due to ridiculous charges. And now the streaming services want as much as cable?! Nope…not for me. AND they want to show even more stupid commercials! Seriously, I can’t believe that people pay for crap programming with tons of commercials.
The free content on TH-cam and Roku and others is kicking serious butts. Wife and I will watch a series and cancel subscription when I’m done. It’s not new but the price increase makes us want to continue this trend.
People ask two things from cable and streaming services. Lower prices and no commercials. People used to watch commercials because they advertised things the average person would buy and use. Different types of laundry detergent, milk, sodapop, cookies, toys for kids. Didn't mind watching those types of commercials. Now the only commercials seem to be for automobiles, lawyers and medicine. Oh joy. Just what I want to watch.
Thanks for the awesome videos as always, Michael! Happy New Year! :) Also, Tubi is AMAZING it has so many awesome movies! I also love Pluto TV as well :)
I tried to buy into the streaming services but last years price hikes made me have no choice but to ditch them all. I went back onto the ship and started sailing the high seas again. KODI still works in 2025.
I was on the verge of cancelling Prime anyway. I do not use enough shipping to justify the cost. They cancelled Pantry a number of years ago. I don't use the music or the gaming. And with Prime Video now loaded with ads, it's just not worth the cost. I'll pay for shipping out of pocket and still save $40 a year.
I was thinking about getting rid of TH-cam TV after the Super Bowl and then get it again come August when Football season starts back up. I do like having access to youtube TV via the app on my iphone and iPad and can watch content pretty much anywhere on the go. I'm not happy about the price increase either. Seems like what I pay for the highest speed internet through Verizon Fios and this new price increase with TH-cam TV, I will be paying just under $200 a month. What's crazy is that is around what I was paying when I had cable before I cut the cord! This is making me ask the question, how much am I really saving by cutting the cord? Not to mention I have other streaming apps like the Disney Plus bundle and Prime Video which that is putting me around $350.00 a month when added up. That is way over the amount I was paying before I cut the cord. Smh!
I do use TH-camTV. In the past, I have stopped it once football season is over and I will do that again. I may not start it up again in the fall. I do think they charge too much. I can reduce the average cost by stopping it for half the year. I do not do this because I can't afford it, I can, but that does not matter to me. I think the prices need to be reasonable, if they are not, I do not have to buy it. It's the same reason I will not pay a toll on a road if there is another option available to me. Even if it takes 5 minutes longer, that's fine, it's usually a more interesting drive anyway.
I think this is the way to go for a lot of people. This is similar to what I have done in the past. Entertainment is not free, but if you’re not consuming the channels year-round - pause and use the money for something else.
@@tracyjohnson5023 If you need an indoor antenna, I would recommend antennas from Antennas Direct, Inc. (this includes Mohu which AD owns) and from Channel Master, Inc. 📡
The sad thing is that even when a company raises prices and loses customers they'll still be ahead in the end. While they lose customers they'll also pick up new customers that didn't use the services before. If 100% of those that said they were canceling thier subscription actually did, then it would be a different story entirely
Yes, very good point. I didn’t mention new customers mostly because that pool is shrinking, although there are still many millions who have traditional cable/satellite. I agree with you.
I just cut cable in October 2024. The reason I kept cable so long is that streaming is such a chock a block that in order to get what you want you end up with a number of services and paying a lot out of pocket. It's so easy to cancel streaming services. I have already canceled 3 of em. It's all a scam. There is no way in hell I'd pay 87 a month for Any streaming service. The way to bring down costs is to stop being suckers. They have nothing we need.
I’m in a bad location and I don’t get a lot of the local TV stations. If I could figure out an easy inexpensive way to get the local TV stations, I dump Google TV in a heartbeat.
Depends upon where you live. I do live in a city and some channels come in just fine, but lots of channels do not. The thing I really hate about digital OTA signals is that they are either there or they are not, so the screen just goes black in between. It makes for a horrible viewing experience if there is any signal interruption, which for me there always is.
I need to get a new one, the one I have now is falling apart so it don't work right most of the time. Reception is terrible and comes and goes, as does the channels :(. Problem is the antennas are ridiculously expensive too.
Yep, and I am paying that vig, since I can no longer abide commercials. Now, I think Prime thinks that 'promos' before content isn't an ad, well, to me it is, so I have my finger on the OK button so I can click the SKIP that comes on the screen. And as long as those blocker things keep working, I will be watching my paramount+ essentials via my computer instead of via my Onn Pro+ box. I have to see if I can install firefox or brave on it and then access p+ via the browser, That way I can watch the stuff on my tv.
I dropped TH-cam TV. The price increase was what pushed me over to drop them. What infuriated me was the commercials. You watch more commercials than tv programming. It was crazy. Why pay to watch so many commercials?!! The price increase tipped the scales because I had been thinking dropping because of all the commercials I should drop them. The price increase made it happen.
Be wary of 5G internet providers, because they cannot pinpoint your location the way that a cable company's internet connection does. This can mean that some apps and services will think you're far away from your actual location, which can affect how they work. (When I had T-Mobile 5G internet, certain sports games were blacked out for me when they shouldn't have been, because my 5G connection had me hundreds of miles away from where I actually was.)
@@cchrisfish773 services have gotten more sophisticated. I have NordVPN. I’ve tried switching locations but still locked into my local market. Also, some services will not allow access while on VPN. I need the anonymity sometimes when completing sensitive transactions and not allowed to log in or get unresponsive screen. This was my reason why I got a VPN to begin with.
@@MichaelSaves TH-cam TV works with 5G Home internet if you log in using a phone with GPS ever so often. Hulu + Live TV is the one service where it's flaky. Too bad they increased the price though.
I'm about ready to cancel Amazon prime. It's far from the the service I originally signed up for. I have totally stopped video streaming due to ads in the programing. I'm sure it won't be long before Amazon charges for Alexa services. Then there is the 2 day shipping that at least 40% of the time it takes longer. So what do I really get for the annual prime subscription fee??
I cancelled YTTV after their first rate hike years ago. I only pay for one streaming service a month and I watch all of them. How do I do this? I watch a different streaming service every month. 📺
I was a Hulu live customer for years. The last price hike I switched to TH-cam . Now TH-cam price hike. It's never ending. Now that Fubo is joining Hulu I'll be going back at the end of the month.
Lol, TH-cam keeps trying to lure me into paying. If I were to pay $82 a month I'd have to give up eating. Anything over the $15 i pay to Netflix, I'd have to file for bankruptcy
I say the same thing about Samsung TV Plus and Roku/Fire TV/Google TV. They just added a David Letterman channel, yet are still holding their ground about being exclusive to Samsung TVs, phones, and tablets.
Yeah I just replaced my Google Chromecast with Apple TV 4K and was disappointed they don't have The Roku Channel app available. I hope they add it. I use Pluto TV and Tubi until then.
I just canceled TH-cam TV, but I didn't get offered a retention deal as part of the process. I only used this to record/watch a few sports events, so it was getting quite expensive for my usage. I'll probably come back, or use a different service, for those few things I care about.
It just becomes to much to deal with. One streaming service for one group of shows or programs. Another service for sports or football. One price for non-commercial streaming. Even the free services have mostly old programs I have already seen. I just want one reasonably priced service with one guide that I can use to watch regular news, some sports, and movies that do not have a million commercials. I am very old fashioned because I just can not keep up with the changes and costs to get television. There just is not much product that I am interested in anymore. Even sports is boring now.
I wouldn't reward Google by paying for a TH-cam subscription. As it is right now all we have is a Netflix subscription. I *did* have Crunchyroll, but their system is SO broken it suffers from constant halts from buffering. And the Verizon 5G? Not where *I* live. We barely get cell service as it is.
You could hop over to Fubo if you want RSNs and are OK with Fubo's missing channels. They've been running a special. I have the deals on MichaelSavesDeals.com.
@@MichaelSaves I do like Fubo! Trying to see if I can get by without a full service option. I mainly watch hockey this time of year, along with the last few football bowl games, and NFL playoffs.
I didn’t fall for the first pricing. Cable did the same raising prices without new bells and whistles. But on the flipside TV networks increase their own rates TH-cam pays to get their product. The customer never wins or ever will.
I cancelled shortly after getting the notice. I tried to get the retention offer when I cancelled but nope! This sucks because I live up in the mountains of Colorado and there’s no antenna service up here!

By far the best cord cutting channel on TH-cam. Concise, easy to understand and quick to the point reporting by Michael...
I appreciate you saying that.
It Is sad if live sports causes streaming services to raise prices when many don’t care about viewing certain sports
YTTV should offer some customization of packages tailored to your viewing likes so you aren't paying for what you're not watching.
Especially if some cut the cord cause we don’t watch any sports. I feel ya. 👍
@@ThraxMan84 The only way it pays for them to buy the games is to have everyone pay for it. Just like cable.
I’ve been a cord cutter for about 4 yrs and I don’t regret it! 😊
I quit
I canceled TH-cam TV a couple of years ago when they raised prices back then. Haven't really missed it and don't need to watch that much TV anyway.
Ty for letting me know about the $60 retention offer for TH-cam tv - very helpful!
I have Hulu live, we don’t watch sports or Disney… I wish we could choose if we want those or not.
Thank you Michael for keeping us updated!!!
HULU live buffers too much, been 4 years now and they can't fix it, and it is expensive, I just get regular Hulu and use my antenna for local channels
I canceled TH-cam tv but did not get a retention offer.I had been with em for over 5 years
Congratulations !! Way to go !!!
Same here. Canceled last night. Been with them since 2019.
I just cancelled today 1/3/2025 after watching this video- I got the retention offer. Been with them since 2021.
We will be canceling TH-camTV when football season ends. That price hike was a step too far.
I cancelled you tube tv when it went up to $73. I was going to go back if my finances improved, but at $83 that will be NEVER.
Prime is still a great deal as it also includes FREE SHIPPING with Amazon. Do the math and Prime is a great price compared to streaming only
@@factchecker1980 you are so right.
I dumped TH-cam TV when it went to $72 and never looked back.
Barely worth the $32 it started at.
PAY more to get saturated with even MORE ads!👎👎👎
Streaming services have become (old - new, just like) Cable... (that becoming a norm)
All these bundles should get a yearly discounts 👍
Starting next month we ditch TH-cam TV on a trial basis. Thanks for the news on the price increase. Purchased a TABLO and flat OTA antenna for locals. Most other things we watch are on Frndly or can be streamed. Thanks again!!
Let me know how the Tablo goes!
Thank you! I've been watching since the start. Happy new year
Thank you! Happy New Year!
@@MichaelSaves happy new year will the price of prime and max change as well
@@MichaelSaves and just to let you know, I got rid of two more subscriptions
@ they have not announced anything. So no official increases.
Very well said. Happy New Year!
@ Happy New Year to you as well!
pihole works on all ad version of streams plus pluto etc streams, yt and internet. No ads on hulu, netflix, disney, prime, internet, email etc for every device on network FREE. save $$$ ez
They might take away ota soon
@ That’s not likely to happen.
Stayed with TH-cam after your retention rebate information:)
Cancelled the day after it was announced. No retention offer made, which is good, because it just delays the inevitable.
Canceled already and not renewing NFL Sunday ticket either for 25-26. I’m done. 😂. Next up Amazon Prime. Need to account for my frequently ordered products to make sure Target carries them.
Agree!! Cut YTTV, AMAZON is next.
All the services are going to go up, but the ones that carry locals and sports go up more often.
So when are we going clamp down on CEO pay
We won’t,its just the American way. Sad but true
$83/mo is CRAZY. Can't see where the value lies in that. ~$1,000 a year people
The free content on TH-cam and Roku and others is kicking serious butts. Wife and I will watch a series and cancel subscription when I’m done. It’s not new but the price increase makes us want to continue this trend.
I like and use TH-cam. What sinks my boat is Prime having too many movies (Especially older ones.) you must pay for! What is the annual fee for?
People ask two things from cable and streaming services. Lower prices and no commercials. People used to watch commercials because they advertised things the average person would buy and use. Different types of laundry detergent, milk, sodapop, cookies, toys for kids. Didn't mind watching those types of commercials. Now the only commercials seem to be for automobiles, lawyers and medicine. Oh joy. Just what I want to watch.
I canceled TH-cam TV as soon as they announced the price hike.
Thanks for the awesome videos as always, Michael! Happy New Year! :)
Also, Tubi is AMAZING it has so many awesome movies! I also love Pluto TV as well :)
XUMO is good too, oh and Plex is another Free one. I like Plex the best, I think they have the most channels.
I'll pay for shipping out of pocket and still save $40 a year.
thanks for the video
Appreciate you watching!
Smh!
I bought an indoor antenna to pick up local stations on my TV, no fee for sports.
Cord cutter ✂️ here. Using my antenna 📡 for watching TV.
What antenna do you have? Looking for a good one thanks
@@tracyjohnson5023yeah, I live in rural area, what antenna do you suggest ?
We can’t get an antenna to work were we are so we have paramount+ and peacock to get live CBS and NBC.
Canceled TH-camTV and switched to Sling. It's much better. Got an indoor antenna for locals.
Antennas work just fine.😜
Depends upon where you live. I do live in a city and some channels come in just fine, but lots of channels do not. The thing I really hate about digital OTA signals is that they are either there or they are not, so the screen just goes black in between. It makes for a horrible viewing experience if there is any signal interruption, which for me there always is.
I need to get a new one, the one I have now is falling apart so it don't work right most of the time. Reception is terrible and comes and goes, as does the channels :(. Problem is the antennas are ridiculously expensive too.
Depending on location, hills, trees, buildings and power lines
There was a time when all we had was six over the air channels and we all survived.
Eh? I rembr a day wen all we had on the tube wuz 25" of "snow" uphill.... both ways.😜
Before I heard about this increase, I had canceled. I'm happy with SLING for $45 a month.
Thanks for keeping us all informed. You're the best and I always listen when you post the latest news !
But Prime video did effectively raise prices this year by making subscribers now watch ads unless they pay more!
True -- $2.99/month surcharge for ad-free.
My husband and I were just talking about this issue and are going to cancel cable tv because we never watch it, so why have it just in case.
I understood. A lot of people tell me the same. What are you streaming most often now?
Be wary of 5G internet providers, because they cannot pinpoint your location the way that a cable company's internet connection does. This can mean that some apps and services will think you're far away from your actual location, which can affect how they work. (When I had T-Mobile 5G internet, certain sports games were blacked out for me when they shouldn't have been, because my 5G connection had me hundreds of miles away from where I actually was.)
Good point about the dynamic IP addresses. This is definitely an issue with a couple live TV services.
VPN. Change your location and see what you want.
I noticed that on my iphone. Service would be spotty wherever I was at so I went into the settings and turned 5G off.
@@MichaelSaves TH-cam TV works with 5G Home internet if you log in using a phone with GPS ever so often. Hulu + Live TV is the one service where it's flaky. Too bad they increased the price though.

Cancelled my Xfinity TV service effective 12/28/24.. They didn't offer any incentive to stay.
Amazon prime should get a discount yearly price.
The annual Amazon Prime plan is cheaper than if you paid monthly for 12 months.
I cancelled YTTV after their first rate hike years ago. I only pay for one streaming service a month and I watch all of them. How do I do this? I watch a different streaming service every month. 📺
I took the six month retention offer to keep it at the $72.00/mo. That will give me time to find alternatives. Great video!
I got the old price for TH-cam tv by pretending to leave and selecting cost like you said.
Amazon Prime has already lost my business. I’ll buy physical media with the money I save.
Will the price change for prime and max?

If "The Roku Channel" would come to the Apple TV 4K streaming devices, I would watch that free service as well.
Which one do you watch most on your Apple TV 4K?
I say the same thing about Samsung TV Plus and Roku/Fire TV/Google TV. They just added a David Letterman channel, yet are still holding their ground about being exclusive to Samsung TVs, phones, and tablets.
@@MichaelSaves Currently, I watch Pluto TV and Tubi.

Glad you got it. Happy New Year!
I will not pay for any tv service that also has commercials…..
I cancelled mine the same day the announcement was made.
I need a change from Direct TV stream. My deal just ended. Too expensive to stay.
