    I have the tmobile app and can not find any way to switch towers, the one it connects to is 2000 ft a way up the hill with obstructions but there's one 1000 ft down the hill.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Unfortunately you can't switch towers on the app, there's a slight chance tmo support can look into it and verify where its connecting and see if there is anything they can do. 3rd party gateways let you lock on to specific towers though.

    Have Tmo home internet . Following some of Nates videos i added the Waveform mini. Went from 90mbs to almost 200mbs. I used that 3rd party app to disable the Tmo's built-in wifi and connected to my existing deco S4 mesh system. Would get 100-150 in the house. Well just upgraded to deco XE 75. Wow! What a difference. All thus time i though it was TMO slowing my speeds. Nope, with the new XE75, I am consistently getting 400mbs down just about anywhere in the house. Thanks Nate for all the videos, you definitely helped me out!

      A carrier's load on a particular tower determines whether they will offer Home Internet service. They assume anyone on that tower will max it out, thus not allowing more customers to use it. The only cure is more tower hardware, which costs money.

The north end of my house is the garage, so I put it in the north window. I have added the antenna to the garage roof and now the speed is up to 180 D and 7-10 U. Need some advice In-laws don't have fiber. They have AT&T and their max speeds is 2mbps think it's dsl. Saw they offer the air plan in their area. There is 5G+ looking at a map. So I have and have had the Verizon 5G cube for about 2 years. I have the ASK Cube and I pay $25 each month for the service. It has been great. I still get a public IPv4. The reason the speeds are throttled is to prevent one user from suckling up all the bandwidth on the tower. I have been getting the 300 mbps download and 20 upload more or less consistently since I've had it. I've been very happy with it, I used to have Xfinity.

Our internet connection kept dropping during prime-time TV streaming (4-6 times per evening!). I called and complained for 30 minutes, threatening a change of providers and haven't had it drop for the last three nights!

    As surprised as I was I am currently getting my best speed ever on T-mobile using a G4AR gateway with a Waveform Quad antenna (the older one) even with NSA I have been pulling 600-850 down and 30-110 up depending on time of day. Strangely when I put the same SIM in my Invisagig with the same antenna I can’t break 120 down. Seems they are throttling 3rd party Gateways now since the Geolocking started. TTL changes help but still nowhere near what I get with the G4AR. If I put a BYO SIM in I get full speed, so be aware T-Mobile is not liking 3rd party hardware on non BYO plans.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      what settings did you try in the Invisagig? It likely defaulted to 5G SA and for some SA is not up to speed yet and you'll need to change the 5G mode to NSA. Also monitor which bands the G4AR are on to mimic if required on the IG with band locking. Many options out there, I've never seen a 3rd party perform worse than the stock gateways!

    • @LBIChris
      @LBIChris 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NaterTater a few Months ago I would have said the same thing. This was purchased in the past 2 weeks. I Tried SA, NSA, and even LTE just for fun. The Only setting that seemed to make a difference was changing the TTL from 64 to 65 that got me up from 75 to 125. The G4AR is connecting to B66 on LTE and N41 on 5G. My Tower has 100M Bandwidth on N41 and 20M on B66. I can't retest at this point cause I sold the IG. I was thinking about Getting the New 5G Elsys but I am hesitant because of the, lets call it' Alleged, Throttling I think T-Mobile is inducing. I say this only because I also had a SIM for that 10 dollar a month 30Gig Data Only plan and that SIM got well over 600MB on the InvisaGig, I put the SIM out of the G4AR in the IG and dressed it accordingly with all the same other setting, same antenna, same speed test, and it drops back down under 120. There is no way to REALLY know for sure, but it looks like Throttling to me. I am in NJ so maybe this is something new T-Mo is doing when it can't tell where the Modem is on a GPS, I do not how all the Geo Locking stuff works with them. I am going to investigate getting a BYO Business SIM since it seems from what I have seen on your channel and Peters channel T-Mo is a lot less restrictive with those when it comes to hardware.

I switched to TMO and I live close enough to the tower I can basically read off the fine print on the antenna. Genuinely with 500 feet. On an iPhone 15 Pro Max with 120mhz of B41 5G I am pulling close to 1,700mbps. On the TMO white gateway it’s pulling 100-300max. I didn’t expect 1,700 but I expected more.

      I'm 100% sure it's the gateway. If you invest in modem/router setup and do some testing; band locking etc. You'll get similar speeds.

    Rural Michigan resident, but not far from civilization. Location not good for internet options. Newly acquired T-Mobile with G4AR gateway. Speeds very inconsistent. Have had near 200 Mbps but usually in the mid teens to just over 20. Very often jittery and buffering with speeds in the single digits. Will be hoping to find an answer among your many informative TH-cam offerings.

    My biggest complaint about the T-Mobile 5G gateways are that the speeds using the ethernet ports are significantly slower than connecting via WiFi. No one has seemed to figure out the reason for this.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have heard that from some viewers but I have not seen that myself. I get full speed via ethernet. What device are you connecting via ethernet that is slower?

      @@NaterTater I've been connecting a desktop PC and laptop. Those are connected directly to the gateway ethernet. I also have a mesh system connected to the gateway via bridge mode. The connection to the mesh also appears to suffer the same issue, where connecting to them via the ethernet port is slower than via WiFi. DIsconnecting the mesh from the gateway does not change the slower ethernet speeds. I've had this issue using different T-Mobile gateway models.

      @@lattermanstudio Just wanted to provide an update. I ordered up a powered switch with poe and placed it between the gateway and pc. There does not appear to be any discernable improvement. On wi-fi, my speeds start slower and climb to peak. On ethernet, the speed initially spikes, then starts dropping. I am thinking it is an issue with how the gateways are programmed on data priority of wi-fi vs ethernet connected devices.

    So I have had tmo home internet for a year now, at first it was great but after 3 months speeds degraded to the point it was unusable. I got Verizon home internet which was great but it was useable. But I kept the Tmo just because I suck at canceling thing and we took it in our rv when we traveled. About 2 weeks ago I got a call from T-Mobile asking to sign up for home internet which was weird since I already had it. I though that was weird until I checked the speed and saw I was getting close to 100 mbs down and around 10 mbs up which I haven’t seen ever before. It has been steady for a while now. The other weird thing is when I get in the app I can no longer see the 4g connection just 5g. All weird but I’m happy.

      Cool. Means you must be on 5G SA (standalone). Should be able to get much faster than that, perhaps with antenna or 3rd party gateway.

    AT&T has ALWAYS been inconsistent, no matter which state you live in. I've lived in several states over the years and starting using them back in the DSL days. ALL of AT&T offerings have been spotty at best. I always ended up dropping them because when they have an outage, it can last months before someone actually fixes it. After being without service for 2-3 months, and still being BILLED for service, twice...I dropped them permanently. I can't imagine they've ever improved anything, it isn't their style.

    Hey Nater been with you on this path since the videos of removing wasp nest lol hey I got a T-Mobile internet home plan when it first came out paying $50 a month back then they didn't have any caps and I just bought a second home internet line for $30 as a promotion to also get a free amazon tv once I complete 90 days I will cancel my old $50 plan and save $20 but I'm looking at the terms of the new line and now they added a 1.2 terabyte cap still unlimited but might get trolled if there is congestion on the tower if I'm over 1.2 did my $50 plan keep the same terms of truly unlimited or did they lie and move legacy plans to this new 1.2 cap as well because my usage is about 900 gigs a month and see that going up as years pass and streaming quality gets up to 4k as native usage and not 1080p like now I stream and play video games and download games all the time just one game alone can be 200 gigs if I down loaded my entire library on a new device I would eat that terabyte in a day
