  • Do you want to turn your Axial SMT10 into an ultimate basher? IF so, you should strengthen the axles first. They are one of the few things I've broken on my SMT10. Metal Axle tubes are a great way to add strength to your AR60 axles. In the past I've used Beef Tubes brand, but for this budget build I found some on eBay that were aluminum and only $15 for both sets.
    Here are a couple options. I've used Beef Tubes in the past.
    Trying these eBay ones for this budget build. Need two sets (one for each axle).

    Those nubs are sort of important. Keeps the axle from going too deep into the diff and also keep the pressed up against the bearing properly.

      From what i can see online the ID is 5.5 mm so why not just run a 6 mm drill down the center of the tube to gain the clearance needed. I dont see losing .5 mm affecting over all strength.

      @@ShabbernigdoXingjian You're probably correct. If I can't find another way to do it, I'd rather drill out the tube then grind down the axle for sure. -"Angry" Dave

    Wondering What should be my 1st upgrades , when trying to accomplish a sold built smt10 2020 version ? I’m going castle brushless and jcustoms wheels and tires are a must but then what ? Thank you , any advice is much appreciated. It’s my first axial truck. So I have many questions at this point so I don’t waste time and money 😂🦾

    • @CCxRC

      Axle tubes and the HD ring and pinion gears for the axles are great upgrades for brushless power. Eventually the stock ring gear on the diffs will start to click if you run it hard. I went with the spiral cut HD gears and haven't had any further problems!

  • @tomr1107

    better way to grind down the shafts is to put them in a drill and spin them on a metal file until they fit.

    I just got the Gravedigger and beef tubes, among other mods....Your video was really helpful!
    I want to upgrade to brushless, but can't decide between 3000kv or 4000kv. I know the difference, and plan to only run 2s, but not sure if I want torque or speed. Any suggestions? I see you got 3500 which splits the difference nicely. (I'm leaning towards 4000, which is very close to the 12T brushed.)

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      on 2s, I'd go with the 4000kv. That would be decent speed and torque...more than you'll need

    • @hobbycow5346
      @hobbycow5346 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CCxRC Thanks! It was a tough choice but I went with the 3000kv. I think I wanted torque over speed. I have high speed bashers, and want the Gravedigger to do more short "stadium" type runs with jumps. I ordered the Onyx system. Still an upgrade over brushed. The only brushed motors I can stand are in my crawlers.
