This is a big help for me. When I build my next rig I want it as quiet as possible. That servo is super. Now to quiet the gearing. I've been toying with a 55t brushed motor geared up to reduce pinion/spur noise. Like road cars are almost whisper quiet because there's not as much reduction meshing noise.

Good deal! Typically off road, shaft driven cars, especially with a transmission will always be quieter. Most on roads use a belt drive which are just so silent!

Good man! That's what I have in mine as well :o) I built an entire floor in mine. ESC on one side receiver box on the other with the 1:8th scale engine sound module in front :) The puller pro is killer.

Cool vid! Did you have issues with the motor plate and meshing the gears? Having issues getting a 550 size can on the stock plate.

No issues on mine....but there is a limit on how big of a pinion you can run. I installed the optional pinion included with the SMT10 - and it's FAST! 550 shouldn't be an issue - it's the same size as the 540 I'm running (at least where it mounts up to the motor plate)

I'm thinking of getting a Max-D pre rolling chassis from ebay sans wheels/tires, motor, electronics, steering servo and body since I'd be replacing those anyway if I bought a RTR and it's cheaper. I'm going to set it up like a sport mod monster truck with a 12.5" to 13" wheelbase. Trigger King recommends running a 17 turn brushed motor with a Traxxas XL5 BEC. You don't want to over power your rig where you'll be flipping it over all the time and breaking parts.
