- After Mark Menzies resigned the Conservative whip after an investigation by The Times found he allegedly misused campaign finances to pay "bad people" that had him locked in a flat, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps drew the short straw on the morning round.

I saw Ms Burley's excellent demolition of Shapps this morning through one very sleepy eye. By the end of the interview, I had turned towards the T.V. sat up (in bed) and was peeing myself laughing at how small and insignificant Shapps looked. He was truly clueless and his efforts to change the subject by saying ' I thought I was coming on here to discuss the wars' was a spectacle to behold. Totally a lost little boy. What is concerning is that these muppets are supposed to be running the country.
