      @@Missy-mn6cc This is ridiculous. The VAST majority of people that get denied PIP and challenge it have the decision reversed once it goes through the court. The statistics about benefit fraud include numbers from clerical mistakes made by the system and people that get underpaid and not given the money they should receive. Plus whatever does get wasted is by a mile cancelled out by the vast sea of people who should be receiving them and don't have the ability to withstand the disgusting process of proving how unwell they are and the mentally ill people who have conditions that affect their whole lives, but which aren't accounted for in the paperwork and the process of getting approved. When the checkmarks for you don't exist, you don't get to tick them. I'm one of those people. I suffer every day, I live in a never ending state of fatigue and have a whole list of mental health disorders. I would not get the points for PIP. I wouldn't be able to withstand the process even if I would. I am 100% unable to work and the only reason I have a job is my employer being my friend and letting me only do the very easy tasks that don't demand much from me physically, so I'm sitting near him for most of the day not really doing anything. How many employers do you know who would do that for a disabled person? Who else will hire me for what job exactly? I'd be absolutely fudged without my current job. I have no idea what I could possibly do then.

      He is. But dont worry, nothing on this will get done or change. Its a political stunt before the election to try to win some right wing votes. He has also stated its a pledge for the manifesto. So in other words he would do this if re elected in November. And there is zero chance of that happening. So he can go and bleep himself. Irony is Cameron spouted all this in 2010 with his austerity drive. He put in Duncan Smith to force it all through and they started their crusade of tipping people out of wheelchairs etc....And it failed. It was so wrong, so controversial and so badly done that it was dropped and tailed off. What actually happened, was, for every person who had their payments stopped by ATOS with no medical evidence to back the ATOS team.... The person claiming then went to appeal and a Doctor etc over ruled ATOS and reinstated the money. It was a disaster for ATOS and the government. The ATOS contract was taken from them in the end and not renewed. There were so many problems and staff at ATOS were getting death threats and physical attacked so often as they were unprepared and unqualified to deal with mental health patients. This will all end up the long grass with the minimum of fiddling at the edges but a lot of noise for a short period of time...sooner the election comes the better. Sunak is a snake.

      Absolutely right. I'd love a job, but it's another full time job trying to figure out which employers are serious about employing disabled people, and who's just wasting your time. Honestly, if the Government matched me to a job tomorrow, I'd give 110% to make it work. It can't be done through the job centre because that excludes all of us who would be exempt from working anyway. There needs to be another agency that doesn't simply exist to fluff up the unemployment statistics. I'm partially paralysed from the neck down. I've got cracking admin skills and three Degrees (yes three!) If any employer can make it work for me, that paves the way for other employees with a bad back, or people who can't work without quick access to an accessible toilet. A couple of months extra training would qualify me to help support colleagues who might be struggling with anxiety and depression. There must be millions of people in that position. I can't drive or use public transport. My husband would need to get me to work, but why shouldn't he have Carers' Allowance if his work is contributing to the economy, too. The problem is that I'm *too disabled* to be considered unemployed.

      You nail an interview, you are praised by your CV and work history, the moment you mention a mental health illness, even one you manage to keep "under control", PTSD for example, you never hear again from that employer. The worst part? You are legally "forced" to disclose it as it could be reason for dismissal not to. Employers are legally "forced" not to discriminate but they just hire a different candidate. Game is rigged.

      @prescottperfection6354 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@azazelreficulmefistofelicu7158this is unfortunately the case for physical disabilities too. People seem to have this idea that employers want to have a diverse workforce, so they WANT to hire disabled people (physical or mental). This is absolutely NOT the case. Employers avoid you like the plague as soon as you disclose any form of disability, because it doesn’t benefit them. Why would they want to hire someone who can only work limited hours that they have to make accommodations for, when they could hire an able-bodied person who can work full hours. Employers simply aren’t willing to make any adjustments or go out of their way to accommodate you. I’ve noticed that a lot of job applications now have a mandatory yes/no question of “do you have a disability?”. I legally have to answer yes, even though I know that doing so will guarantee that I won’t get the position.

So for Rishi Sunak to say that people with mental illness are claiming benefits is ridiculous because my brother was so confused & so unwell, he could not claim any money from the DWP, he wasn't even able to see his GP to be referred to the mental health team, I had to help him with that also, and even then it took over a year for the mental health team to get involved. Rishi Sunak sits in his golden throne, in 'la-la' land, totally out of touch with reality and what is really going on, and does not even bother speaking to people, like me, in the real world. I am furious at this man who sits in 'judgement' targeting the most vulnerable in society who needs protection, not unfair, judgemental and untrue accusations, that are a breach of human rights and defamation on someone's character, even unpaid carers, and the things he says are totally untrue. Rishi Sunak is blinded to the real world where businesses has closed down, and this is just in one Town, this has happened in many towns including London, it is reported that perhaps Boots in our town will close down too. How can people go back to work if businesses close down at a rate that has seen unprecedented business closures since COVID??? The government is to blame for what happened, this Tory government. Someone who can self propel a manual wheelchair due to paralysis but has a 50 hour a week job that pays 300k a year can still get PIP lol. It's for personal care and mobility needs. The reason he's trying to go after PIP for mental illness is that their new Universal Credit plan will only award the health component to people who have a PIP award. So you can be too sick to work but not so sick you need a carer or specialist equipment (just as an example, you really do need to be profoundly unwell physically or mentally, or both, to get PIP and even then it's not guaranteed, literally nobody is getting it just because they're a bit sad sometimes without having a dishonest doctor and stellar acting skills, and immense luck) and because you don't need that additional day to day support, you will be considered fit to work.Campaigners worked for years to get the work capability assessments changed as they were causing measurable harm to disabled people, and so the government has agreed to scrap them.. and replace them with this, which is so much worse, because it doesn't even have anything to do with what it's aiming to deal with.

      @@moosky7344 some GPs are more than happy to no longer have the responsibility, as it dramatically cuts their workload. The DWP already believe that the assessors for these benefits are "healthcare professionals" so they would be the ones deciding everything, with no direct access to medical records like a GP has, and even then they're often incomplete as hospitals use different systems depending on location and even department and don't always share information with primary care and so a GP would only get information relating to scans or tests if the consultant wrote a letter detailing the results and any discussion you've had with them relating to your condition, prospects and treatment to the GP and then also it was competently added to your record by the administrative team, which is a much bigger ask than you'd think. It's hard enough getting a GP to accept a consultant said something they failed to mention in the letter, let alone someone who can't even see the letter, and asking for copies yourself doesn't help because even if you do get sent them, which doesn't always happen, the assessment centre more often than not "lose" them, even after you've personally handed them to someone in the waiting room and watched them copy them with your own eyes 🤪

    I went off sick in 2010 for knee replacement when I was self employed. Im a veteran and the stress of trying to cope with the benefits system caused me mental health issues that I was not aware I had. I was eventually diagnosed with PTSD,s and complex mental health issues. To this day I have never recieved any treatments because I was told none are avaiable. I secretly recorded most of the assessments I was forced to attend and if I knew how to get them put up on line I would.
    Every assessment I had to attend told me I was fit for work and everyone of them was overturned at magistrates court where a judge and a doctor assessed my case with evidence provided that these assessors ignorred. On several occasions the judge allowed my covert recordings.
    I had one asessment where despit having an appointment I had to wait hours. When I went i to the room to be assessed the HCP was very aggresive. She actually
    terminated the assessment stating I was verbally abusive, not answering questions. The audio and video recording I took shows clearly this was not the case. She just wanted to go home on time !

Its inconceivable that they think this will do anything other than turn even more people against them. And the worst part is they cant get any legislation though before the election so its like shooting themselves in the foot with both barrels. Sunak is politically useless now it seems he is also clueless.

    As somebody with Autism and PTSD the majority of British workplaces talk the talk, but the reality is they are not interested in taking on people with mental health problems, disabilities or those with gaps in their employment. Those who do manage to get a job are quite often pushed out as managers are clueless how to support them in their role.

      Same issues as me exactly. Employers love to employ me because I tick the diversity boxes. They don't support me because I don't "fit in" or "cause problems". I've whistleblown quite a few times because of the autism/PTSD where others were scared to. They really don't appreciate being told they've broke the law. One care company I worked for were sxually abusing people in their care who had similar issues to me. Me and coworker whistleblew. Fired us both within a week. UK isn't ready for us in the workforce. I've had 8 jobs and only one was genuinely supportive

    I am one of those people who suffer with mental health issues and i cant even get through to my GP surgery. Last time i suffered with depression this bad, i was offered medication as no treatment was available. With the lack of funding for our precious NHS, there will always be people who are off work long term until they can see a professional to get well, mentally and physically. The work culture is also one where your bosses make you feel like you cant take time off if you are ill.

    No person is economically inactive. Those on the lowest incomes spend a greater portion of their income which contributes to the economy in other ways. Just because people are on benefits doesn`t mean they do not contribute, they still pay VAT and other taxes.
