Price Price Price. Especially considering the current interest rates. Auto makers have out priced their customers. $70k for a F150 XLT, that's roughly $20k too much.

    • @mattweeks2272
      @mattweeks2272 ปีที่แล้ว

Easily 20k too much. I bought a 2018 f150 XLT 302a brand new. At the time the msrp was $48k and there were insane incentives. Walked out paying $36k for the truck. When it was totaled in 2022, I went shopping again and for the exact same truck configuration in a 2022 model I was looking at $60k with no incentives… I was absolutely disgusted with those prices. And quite frankly as much as I love the superduty and would love to have one; I don’t need one. A half ton is plentiful. I settled on a preowned 2021 f150 XLT 302a that had everything I needed. It had 16k miles on it and I was able to get it for $40k. Still disgusted me that I paid more for a used vehicle than I did for a brand new one 4 years earlier, BUT, insurance money helped greatly considering the 2018 was paid off.
All that being said, I couldn’t imagine trying to buy one brand new or even used right now with how expensive they are. Ford has definitely priced themselves out of the market and it’s a shame. They’re great trucks; but no half ton is worth 70k. That’s outrageous. At the end of the day, it’s still a ford. It’s not a Lamborghini or Ferrari.

Unfortunately these auto prices are not coming down. I run a manufacturing facility and due to the increased costs of everything, labor, raw materials, vendor increases, etc, we've had to raise prices roughly 30% to keep the same margins. It looks like the average auto price is right in line with this same increased percentage since 2020. Until all direct costs come down, these auto prices will not come down. They will just bank on making more profit per unit to make up for the decreased volume.

Yes price is the biggest factor with the lower sales. This means that they are less likely to sell a truck to someone who really doesn’t need it. However, there are two other factors you didn’t mention in your video. The first factor is higher fuel prices, and the second is the styling of the truck. In my opinion, the current F series didn’t change enough from the previous generation to warrant someone buying a new one.

Keep up the great job 👏

I bought a new 2022 F150 last year. Got $1800 off sticker . I am retired so I paid cash for the truck.
I ALWAYS buy the base model and add what I need and don't add fluff that costs thousands.
I buy a V8, 20" tires, Tow package, FX4 (I do a lot of mountain road driving), and a supercrew.
THEN....I add aftermarket speakers and amp (Focal), BFG KO2 tires, Aftermarket LED's (Morimoto), and a great Weathertech aluminum Tonneau (I love this thing !!)
Bam....48g's for the truck, 3 g's for the stereo, 800 bucks for the tonneau, and 1200 for the BFG's.
For 53 grand I have a terrific vehicle.

I was planning on buying a new one last year. I currently have a 2015 xlt but there is nothing wrong with it and at these prices it’s a big nope. I may just keep it and only use it for truck things and get something else to daily. They are going to put themselves out of business with this cash grab. I work in manufacturing and we made parts during the whole pandemic. They never stopped building these vehicles. They built them and they are sitting in fields all over the US. This whole thing is mismanagement and greed.

I bought a Ford Raptor fully loaded new in 2010 for $43,000. That seemed like all the money in the world at the time. I still have it with just 50,000 miles and still like new condition. I took in in for servicing and the dealer said they would give me original list on a new Raptor. I thought, OK what would that amount to. They wanted $110,000 for the Raptor. I looked at them and said, my truck and $61,200 (original sticker on mine was $48,800). I though, whatever you are smoking you should stop or pass out enough for the rest of us. No wonder the lots are full of trucks.

6 months ago I was looking for a new truck, 3 different dealerships in Dallas and mid cities all gave me the same… method of sale… for lack of a better description. More or less: “We will take your order, but not your deposit. When your truck comes in you will have the opportunity to bid on your truck with other interested buyers. Once your order is placed you will get notifications of auctions as vehicle’s come in, and you too can bid on trucks others have ordered as well.” When I said what the heck? They responded “We are getting less inventory, and just can’t turn down the $20,000 to $50,000 over sticker, we have to keep the lights on somehow.”
When I looked online, I found a lotta folks recommending that you order your truck that you want at as many dealerships as you can, so you’ll have a good chance of getting your truck at a reasonable price, not too much over sticker. Think about that, 12-15 dealerships in the Dallas area alone, double that in the DFW area. So let’s say for easy math, 100 buyers do this. So at 12 (or more) dealerships order 1,200 trucks ordered for 100 customers, so you see the problem. I was about to do this but bought a RAM 2500 instead. 😊

Not to mention the fact that It still takes ford months to produce a custom order where it takes Ram weeks. And, ford (and others) are eliminating options that people want (heated steering wheels here in NE). For a $70k truck, getting a $140 credit for the heating steering wheel credit! 😂.
But here’s the thing - we can complain all we want to but, you will not see stickers come down - ever! Not to mention people are still buying them! Maybe slower but as you mentioned there’s no higher line trucks on the lot because the rich people are buying them! Where’s the incentive for ford to drop printed monroney labels?

Let's take a look at some of the reasons, IMHO. #1 Reason: EcoBost, Nothing but junk after about 50 kMiles. #2 Reason: Dealer markup over MSRP, folks don't forget that stuff. #3 Reason: Trucks are way too much $$$. #4 Reason: No manual transmission (i.e., there still some real men and women who can shift gears). #5: Too much unproven technology. A nightmare to get fix when things go bad. #6: Dealership service centers. They either over charge a customer, cannot fix things correctly, don't have the trained/qualified staff. Service centers are more focused on making $$$ than performing quality work. Just my $0.015 worth.

Part of me thinks inflation is actually affecting people, and part of me think ford is trying to make more money per unit, dealers are doing the same as they charge over msrp for the best vehicles, and also they didnt have to give incentives. I think if part pricing comes down then they should lower msrps but I don’t see that happening. They’ll probably go back to rebates like the old days of dealers stop ordering vehicles.
