    Hey Buckin' - it sure is surreal to see you at my parents house and watch it all here on youtube. Thanks for all that you do, and the shout out definitely put a smile on my face! Shawn and I have been watching your videos for a few years now, we both like fixing up and running our saws, and your videos are chalk full of great advice!

      Thanks for the shout out Buckin’. Love the channel, learned so much and the content is great. Keeping all the chainsaws in my collection and using them whenever I can really gives me something to look forward to while also providing wood for our camping trips and family. Keep up the good work. Thanks again.

    I was a choker setter during the summers while going to college starting my first season logging in 1969. Worked on several sides from cat, high lead, and slack line with a raised spar all in old grow. This was all in Mount Hood National forest here in Oregon. Love your videos, brings back great memories of hard honest work. And, after all these years I still have my hard hat and boots just in case I get the call to go back ! 😊

    Was setting chokers & ratting for cedar bolts after work on the Olympic Peninsula in the 80's. Goto saw back in those days was a 56 Mag Stihl. Began running a hammer exclusively thereafter as a carpenter.. I'm in Pennsylvania nowadays, retired. Hadn't picked up a chainsaw in a couple decades until a few years ago. I was kinda bored & figured firewood might be a lucrative hobby. Friends & family figured I had gone nutz when I bought my 572XP. Lol. It may be a bit much saw for what I do with it but damn, it is fun to run! Makes me feel like a kid again. Had the Husky into some 30' White Pine last weekend. That was the 572's first taste of respectively sized wood. It was 80° & sapfilled. The new saw's probably weighs half as much as my ol' 80's era 56. As much as I hate to admit it this old man today with the Husky could likely whip that lean mean version of his younger self running a big Stihl cord for cord.
    Just as fun today as it was then. I enjoy these videos.

    In the Pacific islands we have beetles that get right in the wood the moment it hits the ground. You have to spray it with insecticide right quick unless you want holes all up in it like something fierce. Mother nature in the fast lane out here. That and the termites recycle wood into dust faster than a Bandit chipper.

    We've been doing this forever in my area but with yarding chain, it's super easy to do with chain. I highly recommend getting a length of chain if you plan on pulling logs around, it's the right tool for the job, rope and strap kinda works but will wear out and break super fast when you drag it in the dirt.

    • @BuckinBillyRaySmith
      @BuckinBillyRaySmith  ปีที่แล้ว

      chains are brutal on yer truck special when yer stopped buy a stump ,, I've used everything, chokers , strawline , chain. for the seasoned rigger it dont much matter it all works , but for the green guy learnin to pull wood in his fancy dancy truck he's better breakin the riggin' than tearin' off his bumper . which a chain will definitely accomplish.

      @nseric1233 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BuckinBillyRaySmith You think that giant strap is going to break before your bumper? lol.
      The big problem with ropes or straps is dragging them on the ground under a log tears them up super fast, then they break. Chains last for years of use, ropes last for a few trees.
