Both them saws tear it up! Holy cow. Absolutely loved the part where you set them side by side at a idle. What a sweet sound of music! Thank you Buckin for another great video!
They’re both great saws I’m sure. I’ve a ported 572, so I will be bias. But I just can’t help but think the Husky sounds sweeter, smoother, and responds to throttle beautifully, it’s crisp! I still think the 500i has a barp in the high rev range and appears to be less efficient in its combustion just looking at the amount of the exhaust smoke. But hats off to the 572, that thing gives nothing up to the 80cc EFI saw in that wood. Great vid, Buckin’, thanks again!

Husqvarna has more high end torque and Stihl has more low end torque. And considering both saw brands recommend you run them at full RPMs I would say that Husqvarna has the most torque.
I was talking to the boys today at work and they was talking about filing their rakers very hungry and I've been running a 55cc husqvarna with a 28in bar so I had to tell them to try it in a hard wood tree that wants to sit down on you and see what they really think. Billy ray I was talking with a friend who owns a saw shop. The conversation was how long should I expect a saw to last. Instantly I said 20-25 years. I buy commercial quality products for the professional. He said stihl and Husqvarna surveyed their customers and the average result from them was an expected life of 5 years. I think that is just wrong, I want a saw to run and be able to buy parts if needed, for 20 years. The money there asking for most Saws is significant. What's your opinion on how long a saw should last. My old stihl saws still working are 20 to 40 years old. Granted, with the old saws, I can't get parts for them if they break. The saws become wall art. I don't want this newer plastic junk.
Great video! I have a stock 500i and still getting use to a saw of that size. At what point would you send it off for tuning if you were in my situation?
No need to tune it! It’s fuel injected so it tunes itself. You could get it ported and it’ll pick up a lot of power. It’s a powerful saw anyway so you’re probably good for 15 years.
Nothing against Husky BUT I’ve always ran STIHL. I run a 661 & 500i both ported WCS BARK BOXES & 70-1 98 Octane jungle juice. They eat like crazy 661 36 bar 500i 32. GOD BLESS BUCKIN & EVERYONE 🙏👍✌️🙂
I have a 372 that the saw shop said the guy didn’t want to put the money in to fix it. I bought it not running and fixed it up and modified the muffler but I a going to put a pipe on it. Glad to see my saw is better than the 500i.
Ahhh, the sound of those two saws, music to my ears! With as many hours as you have on both saws, you would know better than anyone, and it sounds like you're calling it a draw. I'm a Stihl guy, but I'd take either saw after watching your vids.
Pro tip…the discontinued 576xp is even better…28” bar, performance pipe, west coast dogs and a full wrap…shes a screamer… To be fair, i have the 500i as well…and i do like it…
GREAT COMPARISON AND EXPLAINATION BUCKIN ,,WHAT I LIKE IS THAT YOUVE SPENT LOTS OF TIME ON BOTH SAWS ,,SO THERES NO DISCREPANCIES ,,,BOTH EXCELLENT SAWS ,,RIPSAW ROCKS 😁😁👍👍
Both are perfect.... sharp chains are key to not straining a saw. You see TH-camrs with saws bouncing dull or uneven chains. You teach so much and truly inspire. On a side note how is young Ewan doing. I may have spelled his name wrong if so sorry young man.
16:33 this was an interesting shot. The Stihl blows a lot of smoke and woodchips everywhere, while the 572 neatly dispose of the woodchips (and doesn't smoke blue)
I’ve messed around with this a few times and wrecked a few chains by just taking a little too much raker off, thinking it would cut faster and boy is it super chattery and I couldn’t even keep it on the saw. Then I had a chain that I never filed the rakers and it was the smoothest cutting chain and it actually was faster cutting because you could keep the RPM’s up.
I prefer Husqvarna and call me crazy but both those saw cut that slab about exactly the same. You could make it as scientific as you want but nobody’s going to notice 0.5 seconds. If it was 2-3 seconds quicker then yes.
Hey Buckin, I got an old 66 Husqvarna in great shape. I would like a bark box or something similar. Where can find one? Thanks, keep up the great vids I'm an East Coaster 🇨🇦
Both saws seem to briefly quit running halfway through the cut. The dreamsicle is quieter but doesn't seem quite as strong? I've been running a triangular raker on a couple saws, they cut really well for me. Not sure, they may be Carlson.
Love ur content learning constant. I’m a mechanic not a fellar or tree pro but I’ve takin to saw building. Kinda a bug that I can’t shake. Shout out to Lance, hope you have better days ahead and the Buckin army loves Ya Buddy !!! Great video, both saws are awesome but I'll take the 572 all day long !!! Go husky !!! Buckin, excellent comparison and explanation on the 2 saws...
Husqvarna has really been expanding their dealer network where i live in ohio. Stihl still has more so everyone around here, my self included, ran stihl. Until i tried my first husky. I’ll never good back. Stihl usually has a slightly better power/weight and a little better bottom end power, but the smoothness and the air system is worth it over whatever stihl offers you. In the hard ohio woods, the husky does take a little finese being a higher rpm power band, but once you get used to that, husky all day for me.
I love the 500i saw its awesome and so is the husky I promise you it will out last the husky but honestly we all know he is a true husky fan and is trying not to hate on the stihl and all the husky boys love this channel because of it and that’s great but it’s still kinda one sided but even Billy can’t deny that stihl is the best period it’s almost has him there now kinda like does vs Chevy they are both great
Huskey-Stihl. I'm in a retro stage now. I took my 10-10,a 610,and a super XL out yesterday, and had a ball. Next time maybe a C72,or two. The C 51 needs a little love too.

Very interesting. Like is say my favorite saw it the one that runs right full of fuel and has a sharp chain.
When it comes to chain saw videos it hard to beat buckin Billy , the best on you tube !
I have a stock 046 with a barkbox and I have a stock 500i , they run neck&neck , I put my stock 372xp in the mix too , it's right there as well
Pro tip…the discontinued 576xp is even better…28” bar, performance pipe, west coast dogs and a full wrap…shes a screamer…
To be fair, i have the 500i as well…and i do like it…
GREAT COMPARISON AND EXPLAINATION BUCKIN ,,WHAT I LIKE IS THAT YOUVE SPENT LOTS OF TIME ON BOTH SAWS ,,SO THERES NO DISCREPANCIES ,,,BOTH EXCELLENT SAWS ,,RIPSAW ROCKS 😁😁👍👍
They are lovely
Those 2 saws running together sound amazing
Both are perfect.... sharp chains are key to not straining a saw. You see TH-camrs with saws bouncing dull or uneven chains. You teach so much and truly inspire. On a side note how is young Ewan doing. I may have spelled his name wrong if so sorry young man.
Those idling together sounded like a top fueler on the line. Sweet.
Great video that… really does show how important the chain is on the saw…
Indeed
My 500I is way too fun, best saw ever
The pipes side by side sound like glorious applause 👏
i liked it too
So looking on ripsaws website they have a square ground chain vs a lengthened chain? Pros and cons?
Husky fam here but I don't hesitate to pick of either of these brands when I get a good 2nd hand deal!
16:33 this was an interesting shot. The Stihl blows a lot of smoke and woodchips everywhere, while the 572 neatly dispose of the woodchips (and doesn't smoke blue)
Let’s see a 462 vs a 572 🧐 love it 😍
I’ve messed around with this a few times and wrecked a few chains by just taking a little too much raker off, thinking it would cut faster and boy is it super chattery and I couldn’t even keep it on the saw. Then I had a chain that I never filed the rakers and it was the smoothest cutting chain and it actually was faster cutting because you could keep the RPM’s up.
Truth
Until the cutters are lower than the rakers
Those saws idling side by side sounded like the drag strip top fuel cars
Love it. You rock Buckin
Thanks, keep up the great vids
I'm an East Coaster 🇨🇦
Thanks for helping people, keep doing it.
Just notified.. Alan. WOW 🤩. Thank you friend
I have got to admit I am a little jealous that cedar must smell so good thanks Buckin!!!!
Ahhhh......I could sense the universe permeating the 500i!!!!!!
Love you all...❤❤❤
Lieutenant Bradley
Lol johnny
Hey what suspenders do you recommend?
Man, old boy can run a Power-saw like a champ, poetry in motion!!!
Shout out to Morgan at Wild West Garage that pipe is crazy! Stay bright buckin army! 🌲🪵❤️
I at 3:35 Geezus Billy,, that thing cuts sweet. I.m a Husky sort of guy,, but that,, that impressed me.
Both saws seem to briefly quit running halfway through the cut. The dreamsicle is quieter but doesn't seem quite as strong?
I've been running a triangular raker on a couple saws, they cut really well for me. Not sure, they may be Carlson.
I used my 500 i today and have no complaints. No chocke to use and like the fuel injection. 76 years old here with experience.
Love my new 572 been cutting beech with it filed 3 times haven't touched my rakers cutting great
Ole Billy Ray is one of the coolest dudes. I have learned so much from this guy it is insane. Thanks brother keep it up.
Love ur content learning constant. I’m a mechanic not a fellar or tree pro but I’ve takin to saw building. Kinda a bug that I can’t shake. I really liked this pairing and how u broke it down to engine size vs set up for overall performance. Anyway watched a lot of ur stuff but figured I’d chime in thanx.
Have a 572xp and 592xp only mods =exhaust for reliability best saws money can buy/never had a drama choice
Love your noble honorable simplicity
Shout out to Lance, hope you have better days ahead and the Buckin army loves Ya Buddy !!! Great video, both saws are awesome but I'll take the 572 all day long !!! Go husky !!! Buckin, excellent comparison and explanation on the 2 saws...
Couldn't find the HiViz hoodies on your website.
Hi, Lance! Praying for better days ahead. Great show as always, thanks.
They both sound great 👍with Bucking filing those saws anything possible
Love and prayers to Lance!❤🙏
Super video Buckin Billy!
In the hard ohio woods, the husky does take a little finese being a higher rpm power band, but once you get used to that, husky all day for me.
very true. love the Husqy!
The editing Buckin! Awesome!great vid! Sold me on a 572 that’s for sure
I love the 500i saw its awesome and so is the husky I promise you it will out last the husky but honestly we all know he is a true husky fan and is trying not to hate on the stihl and all the husky boys love this channel because of it and that’s great but it’s still kinda one sided but even Billy can’t deny that stihl is the best period it’s almost has him there now kinda like does vs Chevy they are both great
Great comparison with the Stihl running whilst the Husky is running, what!
Compering a 500i and a572xp is like runnuing the 592 Vs 500i
Stihl and Husqvarna chainsaws are both top performers in a drag race.
Huskey-Stihl. I'm in a retro stage now. I took my 10-10,a 610,and a super XL out yesterday, and had a ball. Next time maybe a C72,or two. The C 51 needs a little love too.
Have an old 359, a T435 and , my newest, 395XP . I like each of them and I would love to have 372 or 500i !
Gotta love 2 smokin saws, tuned and running sweeeet as.
They both cut wood pretty dang good. I mean... I'd use either one to be honest. Definitely like the Husqvarna sound.
2 rippn saws thats backwoods 👌 stereo Buckn
