Except that without separation between the speakers, dual mounted speakers in a cabinet quickly lose the stereo effect with any distance to the listener. What is better is the included stereo line out and headphone jacks enabling one to add some nice speakers with distance between them. I wish it also included a tuner with FM and HD Radio.
I have 8 internet radios and the Crane CC Wifi3 is one of my favorites. It's an amazing little radio, great speaker or line out, excellent equalizer you can customize, it works better than advertised.
I bought my C.Crane Wifi 3 Internet Radio about a month ago. It sits beside my home desk when its not connected to my poolside speaker system. I love it. It looks seriously cool. It's simple and easy to use. I have about six presets that I shift to throughout the day. I'm not much into just surfing stations. Very high quality. I'm very glad I bought this. A good machine.
Thank you for the review. I don't own any Crane products. Ever since the CCradio I thought that they were overpriced. I still remember the early 2000's advertising. The most powerful radio you can buy. Interesting for something that doesn't transmit.
You are not going to get me to spend more money this time because I already have this radio. I got it shortly after it came out and I use it most every day. Nice radio. Nice review!
Hey Todd, just dropping you a line to let you know I’m really enjoying my C Crane pocket radio that you had reviewed; it’s highly sensitive and picks up lots of stations. Loving all the features, it’s a great radio! Rodney
Even though it doesn't use Skytune (wish it did) I prefer the Mondo Plus by Grace Digital. Bigger screen and it has an app to find stations / control the radio.
Hi Todderbert, thanks for the review. The C.Crane CC WiFi 3 BT seems very nice, but I agree with you that there should have been an option to use regular batteries or rechargeable batteries in this Internet radio. And FM radio would also be nice if it had it, but otherwise, it seems to be a nice Internet radio.
Hey Todderbert, I agree with you. FM would be very nice to have, as well as the weather alerts that you mentioned. What I would also like, as you also point out, is the ability to use rechargeable 18650 batteries. So, there are a few things that I also personally think are missing from this internet radio, but otherwise, it seems to be a nice internet radio.
@@Dan_KM8DAD The screen, and electronics produce tons of RFI. This is noted with the LC90, and having to use the whip antenna for AM reception. Not ideal. Would be neat if they could have a dual circuit design, where when one is off the other is active.
C Crane is great but since you stated you can add your own stations if skytune goes down problem is nobody really explains how to do this so if you have any procedures to find and install a radion station on the C Crane if skytune goes away that would be a nice vlog to view thanks and enjoy your channel
I wonder if you can use that radio for the Broadband Cook County police scanner frequencies. It would be great to listen to the police scanner at night with all the districts programmed into the dial.
I almost pre ordered this but decided to wait for your review. As usual you did an excellent review but the radio just isn't what I was hoping for. Gonna be a hard pass for me. If it was stereo I would consider buying just because it's a CCrane or if it had a USB auxiliary input but otherwise there's nothing special about it.

This remote control looks familiar-I think it’s the same one as my Ocean Digital Internet radio has. The radio itself might be manufactured by the same company. For as big a market as Chicago is I am surprised that you don’t have a C2CAM affiliate.
That radio 📻 really does rock 🪨. C Crane has earned a good 👍 reputation in your estimation. How much do I expect to pay for this radio? I'm guessing it retails for $129.99? Your friend, Jeff.
I can do all this from my phone with an app. Nice Bluetooth speaker much less costly than this “radio.” Display and interface on my phone easier to read than an old school dot matrix. And if Wi-Fi isn’t available, cell service usually is. “Use your phone as a hotspot?” Just use your phone! Hard pass on CCrane. You haven’t shown me one advantage this crate offers, and I can think of at least half a dozen disadvantages.
Many use these with home stereo systems, and office environments. Some don't like using their phones for everything, so there are those people as well. I like having mine on the bench when I'm listening to my radio, and the signal fades, then I tune in the station on the CC Wifi 3. Works great for my situation. They sell these in large numbers, so I guess there is a market for it still.
OK i see the critique, , but I could find a use for it. Radio on the phone is twitchy for me, adds and apps, no thanks.. Then you are wearing your phone battery and have to keep it and your Bluetooth speaker charged. I do agree the phone touch screen is light years ahead, but how much did you pay for the phone. Today this $119.99 My main concern is how good the portal is, the Skytune aggragator.
I wonder if it would work on one of the public WiFi networks where you get a pop up screen on your phone and have to check the box to agree with the rules.

Well, technically yes, but it will operate from a powerbank. If you have a hotspot still active via phone or other battery powered device it will still work.
Don’t like the idea of having to use my phone to listen to radio. Would rather have an actual radio. My phone gets used far too much anyway because of TH-cam and several other things. My phone is already so burdened.

Todd do you like the C.Crane better than the Ocean Digital? Cheers
The Audio, Yes. I do miss my color lcd though.
Is there a stereo out jack?
Two, one headphones, the other line-out.
Are there any Internet radios with recording capability?
I wish I knew of one, the new Ocean Digital WR-18 comes close by having a built in MP3 player requiring micro SD cards.
Can you add external speakers?
Yes, you can use the line out jack if they are amplified through a home stereo.
Unfortunately I had to return mine. Disappointed that the unit didn’t carry all the radio stations that I wanted.
That cabinet could store a sandwich and a pop. Lotta room for those extras. Can only assume those are coming in version 4.
