I finally got an old GD-77 working a little. I successfully does parrot and I can hear people talking on talkgroups sometimes, but after a few minutes the conversation drops out. All the while I'm also listening to the same conversation on my Uniden SDS200 and I continue to hear the same people talking, it doesn't drop out. What's going on with the GD-77? I was on a local DMR repeater. I don't have a hotspot. Is there a setting on the GD-77 that times out a conversation if something is not set right?
I would imagine your Uniden has a better antenna setup - is there a way to plug that antenna setup into the GD-77 when this happens? There might be a timeout setting buried in the menus too... take a look!
Wow 0.1 watts output on low. That would be a nice hotspot device. Even the small battery would last a couple of days on 1 charge. Man that is a lot of setting. I hope the CPS software makes things easier LOL

Check that it is USB-C to USB-C charging and programing capable. I just learned the other day that just because it has a USB-C port on it, doesn't necessarily mean that you can plug it in to a USB-C port like that on a PC. For example, the Xiegu X6200 has a USB-C port on it, but my PC does not recognize it unless I use a USB-C to USB-A cable. For some devices this is true for charging and data. The USB-C spec requires a "handshake" of sorts based on the circuitry structure. If one port doesn't get that handshake it won't activate. The way they implement the ports on the radio may or may not properly conform to this USB-C spec and may require the always hot USB-A port.

Parrot is good, the current Allstar implementation is excellent - you do the parrot thing and the computer that's repeating it back to you on the far end gives you an actual signal report/feedback. Since its a program, its hard to argue with it.
Thanks for this. It seems like the main advantages vs the 868 family are USB 3.0 charging/programming, better screen, more memory for contacts. Are there others?
