    We have DAB here in the UK but you're not missing much. The bitrates are pretty low and most of the stations are in mono.
    And now they've changed the standard to DAB+ which isn't compatible with the older units (my 20yr old Pure Evoke, one of the first DAB radios, still works perfectly, but picks up fewer stations now as they're gradually all moving across to the new standard.)
    The Denver station you mention sounds similar to WMJX in Boston (my late wife's hometown) which also played an all-Xmas format from Dec 1st every year and which is also only available on their website (and geolocked to boot, to prevent lustening outside the US without a VPN. Very annoying that they've done that!)

      I agree about how annoying the geolocking is - cant listen to my Colorado Rockies here in Florida without paying somebody!

    I have one of these radios. Audio quality is very rich and clear. I found it much easier to use the remote control to enter the WiFi password, etc.

    Latest model from Ocean Digital is WR-390 battery and WR-860 stereo mains. They are both wonderful and i had more expensive radios and I prefer those.
    I have modified the WR-390 and now the playback time is 50+ hours. Original battery playback was 7 hours or less depending on the volume used. Also it has passive bass reflex that I prefer to activate one.
    The alarm clock works only if the radio is in sleep mode, with the original battery in this mode the radio last only 2 days. In future model i hope they add Bluetooth 5.3 and Spotify at least.

    Super demo of this radio Thank You..Question..I have been considering the Tunein Pro App for $9.95/month and they say they have over 100,000 radio stations to choose from..This radio apparently has 30 to 40 thousand stations. Is Tunein a better choice? Thanks David W9SSS

    Kanca Tani. I love that station! Problem I'm seeing here is with Skytune, the selection is the same on any receiver. That Choyong radio you reviewed awhile back is unique as it does not use Skytune. I miss the Reciva software, that was nice. I also still listen to shortwave and it is not dead.

    What I'd really like is a good component to add to my stereo system that does internet radio - been looking at the Ocean Digital one, but I'd like to have even more functionality than it seems to offer.

    'Easy' search I 'had' to do, for AM was by letters for US start with W and K. C for Canada (and China oh) on similar, but older model I have to toss out. It seemed to have less search option and no FM. would not connect to my upgraded Wifi at home.
    Old PC did connect but brand new laptop would not connect to be usable on the wifi 6.
    My favorite and long gone internet radio was a Grace Mondo. Better display and easier to search than with the Ocean Digital. Something aged or changed standard and it would not work almost at all. NOW I see there is a 'Mondo Elite' $199 on their site. Nikon camera gear too the shelf I used to put the internet radio on.

    I love Internet radio, receivers, and I used to have one, but the reason I don’t anymore is because for one I have an iPhone, and it has accessibility on it. I’m totally blind so it has voiceover and it reads the screen, if they had an Internet radio receiver that has accessibility built into it and it has a voiceover screen reader or something I’d be able to use it and I would get one again, because every time when I used to have one, it was hard to find the categories. I wanted, even though it had a little beep when you turn the dial. I tried to work out a system, but it wasn’t the best thing in the world. I had to get my folks to tell me where the categories were and I said just tell me what numbers they are at and so I just counted until I found the category, but that wasn’t enough every time because sometimes The categories would move up or down and then I lost my place, and it was hard to find the category I wanted it again, so then I got rid of it when I started getting an iPhone and started having accessibility. I don’t know why they can’t make Internet radio receivers talk And if they did get one again and use it because I understand what you mean about the tactile radio and the physical media, also some Internet radio receivers have a touchscreen, but if the iPhone can have a touchscreen that talks and Apple can make it accessible then why can’t Internet radio receivers have that same thing? Why can’t people make the Internet radio touchscreen have a talking feature in it and then what they should have would be, when you swipe across the touchscreen only once it tells you there, but then when you double tap, then it will the categories and everything that you want. If iOS can do that, why can’t receivers do that?

    Hello
    I would like your opinion on purchasing the WIFI 3 CCrane radio vs Ocean Digital Radio. They both use the same aggregator which is Skytune, but CC Crane is more expensive. I wonder why? Of course the unit is AC power which is good and Ocean Digital is battery but then you can plug it in with DC. Right now the Ocean Digital WR 390 is around $69.00 and this includes an FM radio. What do you think of Lemega radio? The Frontier server shut down, Is this junk? Grace is too expensive, so much for Reciva aggregator which suddenly went down, and left persons unable to use their internet radios. Lemega and Majority use Airable aggregator, which I never heard of, and it looks like you cannot add stations to their server which are not in the database so when they decide to shut down, their radios will be useless except for FM.
    One thing I am trying to understand with Skytune. So additional stations can be added to the aggregator database. So if Skytune goes down will I still be able to add as many stations as I want. How does this work if their iso portal to enter the information once the server stops. I won 't be able to sign in to the portal. Or is it that I will just be able to use the stations in favorites and memories. Also why is it that there are podcasts on the Skytune server on line but you cannot get them on CCrane or Ocean Digital Radios?

      I have only tested Ocean digital brand internet radios with one exception. Skytune is still going strong - but you can put your devices local IP address into a browser on your computer and manually add IPs of any internet radio station as well. I would recomend it.

    Is there a Internet radio that you would recommend that has RCA's out that can connect to my big amp,? I need Pandora and stations that I would find on tuneIn if it's not the real tuneIn.
    It's a home amplifier that has rca ins

    • @pervertedalchemist9944
      @pervertedalchemist9944 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The earlier radios had those connections. To get the RCA outputs now, you may need to get a radio made by Grace Digital.

      If you can't find one with RCA out you still have options. For example, I noticed this unit being reviewed has a headphone jack (not saying this is the one to buy but just using it as an example). If your amp only has RCA inputs you could buy a 3.5 mm to RCA cable. They are very affordable on Amazon, eBay, AliExpress ect.

      I guess it depends on how much you are willing to pay, but there are component network/internet/streamer/DACs you can get that plugs into a home system. I personally have the Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition, but that thing is some $1,300. There is also a "standard' version of the Eversolo DMP-A6, but that is still some $800, but oh man, is that thing friggan nice and sounds incredible! If you really want to go all out, there is also the Eversolo DMP-A8 that JUST came out, but that is nearly $2,000! Ocean Digital, which is the same outfit that makes the unit featured in this video, also makes a component unit (WR-10), which can be had on Amazon for about $180. In fact, I think our own "Record-ology" actually did a video on that, or was it TechMoan? I'll have to go and look. I don't think it has access to TuneIn or Pandora, though. Grace Digital also has a unit called the Grace Link, which is also about $180. Again, don't know if there is TuneIn, but apparently it does have access to Pandora. I can access TuneIn on my Eversolo, but does not "officially" have Pandora, although there is apparently a way to "sideload" Pandora onto it by downloading the Android Pandora app ".apk" and then loading it directly onto the unit via USB or directly connecting it to my PC and load it that way (it basically runs Android as its OS). I may have to try. However, most of the time, I just listen to straight-up internet radio, such as ProgRockMetal, plus I can stream my own music off my music server through the Eversolo as well. No annoying ads/commercials there.

    • @SkiBumMSP
      @SkiBumMSP 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In my case, there is NOTHING that I want to listen to on AM/FM radio in my area. Due to the lack of any local radio stations playing power and progressive heavy metal, I have to resort to using internet radio to find the stations I REALLY want to listen to. I don't bother with Spotify, especially considering a number of bands I like to listen to are not even on Spotify. I do make extensive use of Bandcamp, though.
