I went to a chiropractor with severe lower back pain. He told me the bones in my pelvis were out of alignment and could only be manipulated rectally. Of course I was skeptical at first but I went ahead with the treatment because it was covered by insurance. Mostly it felt like an aggressive prostate exam. After about 50 treatments I did start to feel better. I never did figure out how he was able to keep both his hands on my shoulders during the treatments.

I've read many good reviews about chiropractors, so me having upper back pain decided to give it a try. On the first visit the chiropractor said my spine is the issue, even tho I have brought MRI reports indicating no issues with the spine. After a couple of visits with no improvements I decided to see a physio therapist, which he immediately discovered that my back ribs are causing the pain. However I still went to my next session to the chiropractor, I mentioned that its not the spine it was the ribs which he replied: Yes I know, we are trying to fix it" so I said: but you told me its the spine? His face went red and I decided to never go back there again. A liar and a thief.

In 2017 I broke my back, herniated 2 disks and fractured a vertebrae jumping a concrete spillway on my dirtbike. Couldnt move my right leg at all, i dont like calling it paralyzed but idk what else to call it- Went to a chiropractor, he immediately ordered an MRI, went over the direction of my disk bulge, explained deeply why it hurts my leg so bad and was a little too honest about how bad the injury was. I shit you not man my first session I needed to basically be carried in to his office, by session 5 I was standing up straight and didn’t need to Uber anymore (could drive again), was 80% physical therapy and 20% “adjustments”. You cant denounce all chiropractors, many of them are physical therapists that call themselves chiropractors because people are turned off by the term “physical therapy”.

All of these are really good for you if you work hard labor or fight for a living are your a athlete. Ya a physical therapy is really good also I would say go to therapy before having surgery most cases therapy will fix it surgery should only be a last decision sometimes it’s necessary. Remember if your lower back or neck or hip is thrown out a place it’s going to throw other things out of place and make you more unhealthy so what Joe is saying is very wrong chiropractic care will line you back up, straighten you out you , with that and physical therapy together remember you have to strengthen the weak part again after you fix it, really it’s common since don’t see how people don’t get it or understand it if you’ve gone through real pain in your life , and some real hard fights , you know chiropractic care is very good, relieves pain helps to straighten you back out

I have respect for these people, but from my own personal experience with a friend who experienced his spinal cord being crushed, no level of surgery or regular medical intervention was able to help him from being nearly paralyzed. That was till he started going to a chiropractor who worked on him for about a year. He was eventually off all pain medication walking upright with very minimal issues afterward. None of the regular doctors could understand how he was able to walk again. There are absolutely a bunch of nut jobs and quacks in the Chiropractic industry it could even be most of them, but there's just too many cases where people got severe relief from going to one

now, imagine an alternate reality where your friend did not go to that chiropractor for that whole year and instead he just rested and lightly exercised. would he have gotten better? probably! correlation does not mean causation. if chiropractic stuff was any useful, it wouldn't be too hard to prove its healing capabilities with some controlled studies.
alternative medicine that works is called medicine. when an "alternative" technique/method is scientifically proven to be helpful, medicine adopts it into its repertoire.

Eh, I don’t know. I tweaked my back one time doing deadlifts and was sore for days. Went to a chiropractor, who was also a bodybuilder, and had him adjust my lower back and it worked wonders. He also instructed me not to use an “over/under grip” because people tend to favor one side and twist when pulling the weight up off of the ground.
He didn’t bullshit me, he didn’t promise any miracle cure, he simply adjusted my lower back and gave me some simple advice from one weightlifter to another and it worked great for me and I haven’t had any issues since.
Believe me, I was skeptical because when I was researching lower back relief and chiropractors, I came across all the bullshit and how divisive a topic it seemed to be. I told myself I’d give it a singular chance and I’m glad I did because I was very happy with the result.

Gary Lewis; You are so right!!!
First off I'm going preface what I'm about to say by saying there are good and bad in ever profession; From chiropractors to mechanics, to lawyers and MD's and I've had good and bad experiences with all of those. Thankfully the 1st Chiropractor I meet was truly great, I'll explain about 7 years after I had moved away from living near his practice I slipped a disc in my low back, So I initially went to this guy he had referred me to a few years earlier, With him I would only get better to a point and be almost back to square one, So I got a referral to another Chiropractor and in my first appointment he does x-rays and tells my right leg is 14mm shorter than my left but doesn't really do anything to address that, So after seeing him for about 3 weeks and him using some gadget me. I say screw this go and see my old chiropractor and I will say it took a while my initial problem the slipped disc took about 4-5 months and he treated me by doing a number of things (he doesn't use gadgets like some do) 1st I got fitted with custom orthotics and a 14mm lift to wear in my right shoe and for about 4+ months I received traction and massage therapy and spinal manipulation IE regular adjustments but it took 4+ months before he was finally able to adjust my lower back and was pain free and no longer walking like a duck haha. I will add since I am at in tune with my body so to speak and I have a problem I'll know if I need to see a chiropractor. Also being physically active I know what exercises and stretching to do to keep from having problems, I also try get regular massage as well. I will also add that a lot of professional sports teams have Chiropractors on there staff. Chiropractic education is a LONG WAY from it's origins!!!. Bill Philips founder of EAS supplements and publisher of Muscle Media Magazine did a very in depth article on Chiropractic and the depth and breadth of there education. Foot Note Body builder Franco Columbo was/is a Chiropractor Jack Lalane practiced chiropractic but didn't But didn't let it be known early in his career/life because of the stigma that still followed it back then.

I thought I over did it, and after day 7 the pain moved around in the upper region, and actually started affecting my sleep on day 7. It simply felt like some needed popped, therefore I made an appointment for a chiropractor.
After home remedies of having my wife walk my back, using a foam roller, trying everything to simply relieve tension or pressure, nothing work.
I sought a chiropractor, explained my situation, and within 15 minutes the pain was relieved and felt that tension removed. He gave additional adjustments, but concluded this was a simple adjustment and no further appointments was needed unless the symptoms continued.
    No issues since.

Could barely breathe after it happened and after a couple days of that crap I finally went to get adjusted at a walk-in clinic. They adjusted me and I instantly felt relief. I asked him if I would need to come back and he said "Nah, just be careful with it." I've had some problems here and there, but nothing like that. Would definitely go back if it happened again, though.
This lady pins all chiropractors as some crazy cult that all believe in what that original guy did. From what I've seen, it's not the case at all. That's shit advice and now my hernia is non-existent and has been for months. I used to get reflux multiple times a day, had difficulty swallowing, pain in my chest, shortness of breath, pain in my back, abdomen, panic attacks that sent me to the ER. After the self adjustment and other dietary advice from chiros, I have NONE of those symptoms aside from a bit of tenderness in my sternum when I don't take some acid with my last meal. The medicine and advice docs gave worsened my symptoms and would have made me dependent on something that was actively damaging my body. Even if my hernia comes back I can just do the adjustment again. I no longer have to watch what I eat and avoid all acidic or spicy food,I don't need to use an incline pillow to sleep on at night,I don't have to avoid meals after 6pm, I can take naps after eating - these were all things I had to avoid or do when I was listening to advice by doctors, and my life was shit and my GERD was so much worse!
People they think the medical industry is the ONLY way to find healing. Well after many visits to the doctor for various ailments, I've realized that they are good at managing symptoms, NOT healing or curing. I've often been prescribed medicine that EXACERBATED my condition or gave me new problems! This is what happens when healthcare and pharmaceutical industry kickbacks are so closely related. I will still visit doctors but i will no longer take their word as gospel, because they've been wrong when working with me so many times. The worst part is that the medical industry convinces people that they are doomed and need to take pills their whole life, or get organs removed, when in reality for many conditions there are a host of other treatments you can try first that may well produce the healing you're looking for

At 21 years old, I messed up my back on a deployment doctors absolutely failed me and wanted to just constantly shove drugs down my throat, I could barely walk or sleep for 2 years. MRIs, Xrays, all they could say was I had a herniated disc and too bad, I could have surgery on my back and it "might" fix it. Had some cortisone shots. Then I went to a chiro, who looked at my xrays and said oh look at your L4/L5 etc, within 5 treatments I was a new person.

Same. I injured my back in hs and my osteopathic sports dr who x-rayed me just loaded me up on codeine for 1 month. I lived with chronic back pain for years until one day in college I was offered a free adjustment. It’s like I was reborn! Not only was a sonogramed, my Chiro showed me why I am in pain, what she will do about it and also how the rest of my body was compensating and in contestant tension on some muscles. After three visits, my back pain disappeared, my headaches and fatigue too. Decades later, after running a lot, my hip gave out on me. I went to go see a doctor in Miami. She suggested I go see a chiro first, and if that doesn’t work, come back to discuss expensive and invasive hip surgery, at 33yo... after two session I was back running.
So come tell me chiropractors don’t work!
This lady is just making shit up and rogan read one article and sounds like people who claim psychology is a pseudoscience based on some errors, mean ignoring the fact that it was psychiatrist MDs who performed the invasive lobotomies....
I also had my ears popped by a chiro once too and my gf said I have since stopped grinding my teeth...

I never really thought chiropractors were legit but my wife had sudden neck and rear skull pain so bad it would cause her to almost pass out or throw up. She couldn't stand or be upright for longer than 30 min and couldn't turn her head. We went to 2 different ERs and a family doctor. They all did scans and tests and came back negative. They gave her pain meds and told her to just take it easy and to come back if it didn't go away in a few weeks. After two months they scheduled a neurologist for 2 months later but in the meantime she saw a chiropractor twice a week. She was back to normal before the neurology appointment so we cancelled it. She just does a maintenance visit to the chiropractor once a month now.
I don't blame people for being skeptical or not trusting chiropractors....but in this case the doctors failed.

As a chiropractor, I understand about the history of chiro. It has a checkered past, but so do all healing techniques, including medicine. The original theories of chiropractic are obviously debunked, but there are chiro's like me who really understand the spine and how it works and how it can go wrong. And then it's important to utilize techniques and procedures that are scientifically sound and make sense. There are crazy folks in every profession. You simply have to find a chiro who is science based and uses traditional chiro/physical techniques that actually work and help. Just don't put all chiro's in the same camp and through the preverbal "baby out with the bathwater". Just a thought Joe from a BIG FAN!!

The plural of "chiro" is "chiros". No apostrophe. Apostrophe makes it a singular possessive. Then it's "throw", not "through", and "proverbial", not "preverbal".
How to know which chiros are science based? Don't they all think it's science, no matter what they believe? How can we distinguish which ones follow actual science and which ones follow chiropractic pseudoscience? And wouldn't a science based chiro just be a physical therapist? Why waste time trying to figure out if a chiro follows real science instead of just going to someone who finished medical school and definitely does?

So going to a PT and listening to her helped, but so did going to a chiropractor and listening to him. Of course you have to follow instructions and keep taking care of yourself after a visit. Just going for an adjustment won´t do anything, just like the massage I got from the physical therapist didn´t just make the pain disappear, I had to keep doing the exercises she gave me every day, just like I had to keep doing the stretches the chiro showed me. But you can´t tell me that going to a chiro didn´t work for me because I still couldn´t really sleep that well even after 6 weeks of doing the exercises, and then I slept for 14 hours after I went to the chiro

This was covered in the video, they accept that the one thing that chiropractic manipulation has the potential to do is relieve pressure from damaged nerves. It is the other outlandish claims they have a problem with. More to the point, if you need this kind of issue dealt with then there are better-trained, properly qualified physical therapists who can both fix the nerve issues and design correct exercise recovery programs to help prevent a recurrence. Certainly, the medical profession is imperfect and continually updating itself, but there are literally professionals who help people to walk again after horrific injuries and surgery. I'd rather be treated by them than someone who is poorly trained in a field with little to no evidence of its assertions.

However, it doesn't change the fact that unlike massage and physiotherapy its underlying theories are clearly complete nonsense.

I have had this before. I can be prone to migraines and sometimes they do not go away. When the neck or upper back is out it can put pressure on the nerves and cause muscles to not rest correctly. This can cause tension in the lower head/neck area and cause irritation with the nerves in the neck. I have a father who is a D.O. and he would check my spine before giving me a message and adjustment. When pressure is relieved from that area it can allow the body to get out of the loop of having a headache/migraine.

Point of view from a chiropractors son.
I’ve known many chiropractors and haven’t met any that claim to fix hearing or anything crazy. Not saying there isn’t some out there. Just like preachers, I’ve never met a crazy one that claims to heal people by touching them. But there are some weirdo preachers that claim to heal people while they scream and flip around on the ground. Along with weirdo chiropractors that claim they can fix anything with an adjustment. In a lot of professions there will be a few extremist people.
The entire idea of chiropractic, Atleast now, and this is what I love, is that you go to the hospital for back pain and they give you a pain pill but that doesn’t fix the problem only the symptom. Where as you go to a chiropractor and they try a more natural way to fix the back pain then just giving pills. I love medical doctors, I also love chiropractors. They both have advantages and disadvantages. They look at problems in their own way, which is the way they were taught to. I don’t discredit any chiropractor or MD, DO, most are actually in it to help people.
Also one more thing that most people don’t know. Chiropractors go to college the same amount of time as a medical doctor, 8 years, in that time they study the exact same stuff but leave out prescription medicine. They both receive an undergraduate degree, receive a 4 year healthcare degree, obtain state and National license by passing the exam. The Doctor of Chiropractic focuses intensively on anatomy, physiology, and human biology. They must continue to pass education requirements every year to keep their license.
They both study anatomy/embryology, biochemistry/chemistry, diagnosis, neurology, microbiology, public health, physiology, pathology, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, psychology/psychiatry, and X-ray. Both have to have over 500 hours of manual medicine training.
While DC’s study 2x as much Anatomy, MDs study 3x as much public health.
DCs also don’t have to do a 1 year internship. But they still study/practice under other DCs for so many hours but they do it while still in school, don’t know the exact hour requirement.

I worked for a chiropractor for about a week. My second day there a new mother and her newborn came straight from the hospital spinal adjustments. The chiropractor also told me he could fix/cure any condition or disease in the body, just a few things he mentioned- aortic aneurysms, gallbladder disease, asthma......That was way back in 1985!

I went to someone with my dad when I was young who did the droplet medicine that was supposed to help with allergies and they tested it and fit it differently to every patient. They had a chiropractor too and were a fully booked nonstop busy place. I think the stuff about curing diseases, allergies, and other stuff like that is true because realistically, some of the symptoms from those diseases can be treated if you get enough of the proper vitamins which is what this doctor would prescribe. They're the Hult Clinic in Illinois if anyone wants to call them. I stopped a long time ago because I hate pills but they're stuff wasn't mood altercating, it was only vitamins and it can really help a lot of different issues.

Love you on every show I’ve watched till this. I never feel the need to comment but this pissed me off for 26 minutes.... Wish I could interject for all of 15 seconds? What about manipulation and cracking of limbs such as my arm? Is that not considered chiropractic? Last year I slept on my arm and woke up with an asleep arm. The tingly & numb feeling of that went away except on my pinky finger. This lasted for over 1 month (zero change) before I went to the doctor. 3 different doctors at UCSF looked at it and had no real suggestions. They told me they wanted to do a brain scan and other tests to determine if I have nerve damage... I luckily had scheduled my first ever (completely unrelated) chiropractic visit because I figured maybe I should get an “alignment” before I start lifting weights again. He asked me if I had any other issues, i told him about the numbness in my finger but didn’t legitimately think he could do anything about it.. i had been a chiropractic skeptic for a long time.... he performed some type of “cracking to my shoulder elbow and wrist area” .... 24 hours later the feeling in my finger was fully restored. Whatever he did worked and he went by the term chiropractor...

Yeah, one thing I'm starting to hate about Joe is he will have someone on and talk 100% on their side, and then sometimes he will have someone else on his show who is opposed to the first person and hes also 100% on their side.
There's a lot of good to come out of these, and I almost understand why he does it, but its incredibly disingenuous.

The guest said she went to a specific specialist and her back was killing her she needed a manipulation only to find out she had a broken rib. If this story is true then the question becomes what type of expert is she to not be able to recognize that she had an injury like that ? She basically disqualified herself right there.

This is so strange to me. I’ve been to several chiropractors and never experienced any of what they claimed in this video about voodoo pushy nonsense about healing all types of ailments. That’s freaking news to me that this is somehow a thing. Here’s my usual experience. My neck is misaligned because I sit at a desk and sometimes get too tense, I go to the chiropractor, they realign my neck, I pay $40, I ice and heat the area to handle inflammation and tense muscles, I go on with my life feeling great relief. I’m in and out in 5 minutes. This usually happens 2 to 4 times a year. Anyway, if there are quack chiropractors like they mentioned in the video and you happen to find yourself in their office you should probably just leave and find a new one.

If your chiropractor doesn’t give you exercises to heal yourself they are a quack. Which is why you go back every couple months. Your neck is “misaligned” because of bad posture. Go to to a physical therapist, do the exercises they prescribe regularly, and get a more ergonomic desk setup. Never gotta go back if you keep up with your exercises.

Neck adjustments can cause vertebral artery dissection and vertebral artery dissection causes strokes. It's really rare from what I understand but people who get regular neck adjustments instead of just one are more likely to have a stroke. I think you should look this up for yourself then you can decide if the benefit is worth the risk. It's a rare complication so you might still think it's worth it.

R G Ree Here’s the thing. You giving anecdotal evidence that chiropractic worked for you is not how you prove chiropractic works. This has to be peer reviewed. And that means having people who know how to disprove a falsifiable claim. And since probability comes into play in this field, the results gathered have to be statistically significant. Thus multiple tests need to be performed following a strict and proven methodology. Unfortunately since the average person won’t be able to do that, we have to rely on accredited institutions that have proven to be credible, otherwise we could believe anyone with a degree from a diploma mill. And the reality is, the claims from chiropractic haven’t passed muster.

But in all seriousness if you watch Joe Rogan podcast from the beginning, you will see topics, issues and controversies pretty much from the beginning of History and be able to connect the dots with information provided to get an overarching understanding. However the real value will be in a system / source of information that can allow us as Citizens to see the wrong doing before it is done. And with that statement you should see why AI an deep learning algorithms are such a heavy investment somebody will have the technology first, and for our sakes hopefully it is the least Troublesome person place or thing
