Years ago I was suffering from lower back pain. I went to my doctor and she prescribed me pills. I told her that pills felt like silencing the alarms my body was giving me. Pain is a warning that something is wrong. I dont want you to silence the alarm I want you to tell me whats wrong. I got nowhere with her. I went to a chiropractor and he gave me an adjustment and it felt great. I like it so much I went back a couple of times. After a while it turned into a routine. I started to get frustrated as I was seeing no long term improvement. Then I went to a physical therapist. He took the time to ask me about my habits and gave me all sorts of tests. That was the first guy that I felt was trying to solve my problem. After the first session we started to figure out what was the problem and he helped me correct it with a series of exercises and some dietary corrections. Its not the practice but the practitioner. Doctors just giving pills are just as bad as chiropractors with a adjustment factory set up.
I am a chiropractor with 23 years experience. And I agree with these guys. In fact I have completely reworked my protocols to make movement and fitness my main focus. I still adjust but only to get people ready and able to get on the floor and start improving their movement.
I am a student debating on being physical therapist or a chiropractor. I really want to learn how to improve people's movement and get to the root cause. I was wondering if you could do it all over again would you still go to chiropator school? Also in your opinion which chiropractor schools actually teach how to treat the root cause instead or just popping and cracking or is that something you have to learn on your own?
@@rebeccapatterson6203 chiropractors are pure quacks, full stop. The chiropractor I went to twice, emailed me saying that going to the chiropractor will help you stay healthy to prevent the thing we all wanted to prevent in 2020. Lol can't say it or I'll get censored for false claims about vid. But physical therapy absolutely is based off real science and medicine. Shoot being a massage therapist is more medically real than chiropractic "care". My chiro changed my life forever, they did a complete family history check, my diet, exercising and doing what and how exactly, x-rays galore, focused on one spot at a time than just a cure all, gave me a plan of how their going to cure me, looked at my shoes, my work and the type of floors, my footing, EVERYTHING. They bring me in to deep massage me, than put on electric pads, than put me in ice or hot bath depends, gets me into pt, than stretching and proper exercise, than I see my Dr and we go over every single problem and what needs to be focused on mostly to fix the problem. Basically filtering out the real main issue and going from there. Than adjusts me on the area that needs it, than gives me anything to help, brace, foot cushion, foam roller etc. That's a good chiro who doesn't want to keep seeing you forever and wants to prevent surgery and one who cares to the core on your daily well being
the way you talk so highly about this chiropractor that supposedly had changed your life really sounds like you yourself might run a chiropractor business because in reality chiropractors do not know what they are doing because there is no science behind their practice. I cannot fathom how the US government still allows for this scam to run in 2024.
As a practicing chiropractor, I agree about getting to the root cause. The root cause is not always poor biomechanics. Often the root cause of poor biomechanics is diminished sensory-motor function. There are other factors on top of that too.
Been a corrective chiropractic physician for 16 years, and if you do not address "the cause" to a patients problem you are lacking. Totally on point. Well Done guys!
As a chiro student. I wholeheartedly AGREE with this video. We are taught so many treatment modalities and our scope of practice is massive. Too many old school factory line chiros out there ruining it for us. Good video

I slipped my disk at work and I didn't know what to do. I was in agony and the next morning I couldn't get out of bed I was really concerned for the health of my back at only 29 years old. I saw a well know distinguished fellow ( a master) named Paul Bruno and American chiro in Perth Australia. 15 minutes with him and he fixed my skipped disk. They work he works and it's all legitimate work. 99% back to perfection in my spine now
As a chiropractor now retired after 43 years in practice I totally agree with these guys! There are lot of confusing things about chiropractic which has often given us a bad rap. Since retiring and being fully aware of the problems with chiropractic I am currently writing a book titled the Enigma of Chiropractic. Watch for the publication once it is released. Thanks guys!
Totally agreed, I went to chiro weekly because of my C4,C5 neck pain and herniated disc, 3 months of useless visits and lot of money. Chiro never fixed my problem, I ended to going to different route, being more active and walk more and always tried to correct my postures, I slowly going to the gym doing deadlifts, my neck and back pain is now 90% gone. Dont waste money on Chiro
Me too for radiculopathy AND STILL THE SAME AS WHEN INWALKED IN. OVER 5000$ in that and nothing. And he was board certified in neuropathy. Tried to tell me it was my gut, so I got on a gut program, nitric oxide and still the same. Doesn't answer my specific questions. Ego is too high. Doesn't check in with me. Pushes the packages. It's a mess
Great advice I was going to a chiropractor and he not only adjusted me but he explained what my issues were. He also gave me some exercises to do at home that would help me with my pain. He also didn't adjust me until he had evaluated me I had x rays and he was able to identify my issues. The only reason I quit going to the chiropractor is insurance didn't cover it and it was becoming costly.

And to further explain …. Not everyone has the discipline or compliance for the exercise part so they still want to experience the passive component. Not all conditions require exercise to gain benefits, that’s fact. Adjustments are a form of spine mobilization which is good for the discs, the joints between bones, and it helps to destreza the nervous system out of sympathetic response, scientific fact.
Have to mention all the ligament damage that going to chiropractors regularly can cause, and bones chipping off. Especially when they never find out why you keep going right back out. I had a serious jaw injury that I didn't realize was causing my whole spine misalignments. My body kept referring pain down other parts of my spine. So I would go to the chiropractor constantly, then go right back out that very day. Now the ligaments in my neck are like stretched limp rubber bands.
Yup snapping hip joint caused by to many lower back adjustment, hip pain, snapping ribs, chiropractors are worthless piece of SITT, look into prolotherapy and PRP that usually fixes what the idiot chiro broke.
They’re not a bad chiropractor for doing their job, which is to adjust the spine. That’s what they’re trained to do. They’re not trained coaches and insurance doesn’t cover a lot of therapeutic exercise for chiros so they stay in their lane. I’ve done open room adjusting with 5 minutes per patient for a lot of years. Most chiro patients don’t want a lot of time, I don’t either. Adjust me and send me on my way. It’s a tool to help with training, period. Every patient needs to be training. Sure I believe in a magical office where I can spend an hour with each patient but most patients refuse to work on their biomechanics even when I explain to them the same issues over and over and over so guess what … they get popped and I say have a nice day. I pick my battles. But don’t judge us for doing what we’re trained to do.
Absolutel facts! Especially the biomechanics, my chiropractor is family and the rest of the family refuses to work on dieting, they just go back to gluttony and so do I cuz theres nothing healthy/appetizing thats healthy in their houses.
Agree 100% chiropractors are notorious for doing everything except their job... Jacks of all trades. It's annoying to go to a chiropractor that tries to tell you how to live. Adjust my spine and I'll do the rest pal
Chiropractors who sell themselves as the only thing their clients need to see relief are what they're talking about. You don't have to give clients the full workout routine needed to find relief, you just need to tell them that the relief you provide is temporary, and that they need to use that relief to start training the muscles that will help them see LASTING relief.
I asked my chiropractor why I’m not getting better she said it’s because I have an autoimmune disease so I have constant inflammation. And for me that was a red flag. They want me to spend thousands of dollars on them for nothing even for their products to help heal me. I stopped going. I went to them for almost 2 years. And no healing. So I’m now done.
@@larawedlund6787 I’ve never been to a chiropractor, what are your options now. Can you resolve your inflammation issues through diet? Since I’ve started eating mostly meat and fruit, my joint issues have started slowly clearing up.
Much possible as my own injuries got chronic for disliking chiros initially and worsen due to addl injury. Very possible, they are not god to reset a factory reset on you but immensely help.
that guy that said he thinks the 'first 3-4 sessions should just be assessment' - WHAT! - I went to the first session and it was about 50 minutes of finding the issue - it was located - I didn't even know where it was until that assessment. You don't need 3-4 sessions of just assessment - you need a long first session which is mostly assessment.
I went to a chiropractor once. All he did was crack my neck, back, use a massage gun and a drop table. After 5 sessions, I stopped going. Each session became shorter but cost the same as the first visit which was longer. About 30 minutes. Every other session was about 15 minutes each time. I didn't feel any different from the first visit. I haven't been to one since.
@@Chris-cx7zk Yeah my chiropractor Only took about 2 minutes with me lol. And that's no lie. I walked in the office at 10:20Wait it for 2 minutesHe adjusted me in about 45 seconds to one minuteAnd then talked for 3 minutesAnd I was back in my car by 1027
I've had three L5/S1 subluxations (partial dislocation) over 61 years from over training. Immediately stopped when I felt the pain. Went straight to the chiropractor the next day and got realigned. No herniated discs ever and have the lumber spine of a five year old with X-ray proof. If you leave it or push through the pain, like Ronny Coleman, your next stabbing pain will be a disc herniation. I also had a stiff neck from not going to a chiropractor for multiple whiplashes and concussions from rugby, bicycle and motorcycle accidents and at 59 the chiropractor fixed it. If you have neck pain or a stiff neck after an accident and you think it's just a pulled muscle your body produces bone spurs to immobilise your spine to protect the spinal cord. If you have repeated whiplashes and concussions and do not get adjusted your cervical discs will progress from stage 1 arthritis (normal disc thickness but misaligned vertebrae) to stage 4 (total cervical disc fusion). It takes about 20 to 30 years.
I had mild pain in my rhomboid that grew when a chiropractor convinced me i needed to stop lifting weight and go to him to get my back cracked until it heals. This guy altered the trajectory of my life so much because he had no idea how to teach me how to strengthen and stabilize the weak areas that had pressed nerves and bulging discs. Please god if you are reading this.. advise against going to get cracked at a chiro. You need to MOVE and strengthen safely. They studied tribes who carry stuff on their heads their whole life, they have crooked spines but no PAIN because their core is STRONG, external rotators are STRONG, hips and glutes STRONG and FUNCTIONAL
I’m a chiropractic student who decided to go that route than physical therapy. After what I have learned, adjustments and manipulations are great, but just like you guys said the patient needs to be given a rehab plan for their care. I really enjoyed listening to you guys talk and I completely agree with everything you have said. Adjustments are great for mobility of the body but needs to be reinforced with exercise prescription.
No, they don't know what they're talking about because they don't even know the benefits of the adjustment. Adjustments brake up adhesions of aberrant joints, increase range of motion, relax spasms, stimulate the brain, increase circulation, decrease stress, enhance proprioception... it's not just "feel good" endorphin release. Therfore, it could be a stand alone treatment, depending on the case by case and what the goals of the patient is
Chiropractic is about finding and correcting subluxation. What these guys are looking for is a chiropractor who also does physical therapy and personal training. The cause of the patient's problem is their own lifestyle. And many personal trainers and physical therapists are making people worse by having their clients squat or deadlift, do mobility that their body can't genetically do without injury, or stretching (which injures discs). So go to the chiropractor to correct your subluxation. Then the patient has a choice: stop doing the activities that are making him worse, like his workouts....or just expect to go to the chiropractor for maintenance visits, like Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, and all the greats.
I just recently went to a chiro for (what I found out later) was a torqued pelvis. I couldn't bend over, I know when and how I did it, there was an audible sound and pain. He took x-rays on the initial visit, found what it was, and adjusted me that morning along with my leg that was apparently short (go figure). I was a little sore into the next day, but my movement is infinitely better, I can stand for longer, I don't feel the need to lean like I did, even before the injury. I've gone back once since then, but even after the initial visit, he asked when I was next planning on going to the gym and it happened that that afternoon was a gym day and he specifically told me to not stop and to keep deadlifting. He gave me the "you may need to do lighter weight than usual for now" speech, but both visits he told me to not stop going and doing my usual training. Just the fact that he encouraged me to keep going signaled to me that he's confident in his work/diagnosis and knows what he's doing. I have to agree with you guys. Maybe not on the statement of "no adjustments on the first visit", but everything else is spot on!
The vast majority of chiropractors do give their patients proper “at home” protocols and lifestyle recommendations including corrective exercises, diet, sleep etc. However, patient compliance is sometimes a problem. Also chiropractic alignments do more than just relieve pain, but actually improve the entire health potential by relieving stress off of the muscles, joints, nerves, and organs connected to those nerves. Studies prove that regular visits to the chiropractor are an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.
I've been going to a chiropractor for 5-years to treat a laterally tilted pelvis. Every session, the chiropractor adjusts me, and I feel better for a day or two, but then I start to feel discomfort and have to go back for my next adjustment. X-rays and an Orthopedic surgeon indicate I don't need surgical intervention. I'm fed up with healthcare in this country. You pay lots of money but get no value added in return. It's a racket.
I have been a chiro assistant for years now. I absolutely love seeing the people that get results in such a short amount of time. I’ve had ladies walking in crying because they have thrown their back out and 2-3 adjustments later they are walking completely upright as if it had never happened. Yes there are some out there who are in it for the money and don’t give a crap about the patient AVOID THEM!!!! Read reviews, look for ones who have had patients for years. They are out there. But people need to remember you won’t be perfect on the first adjustment, just like I tell some people, you don’t go to a gym one time and walk out with a 6-pack. Please just do research and don’t give up because it is a great a wonderful practice. It works even better when doing it in combo with other practices, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture they are peanut butter and jelly. They are both good solo but even better together!
I am a chiropractor with 17 years experience. I don't sell subluxations. I agree that difference people may need a different approaches to care. Some need exercise as part of their rehab. Some need modalities(ultrasound, stim, shockwave, laser, massage, acupuncture, nutritional, counselling, etc). But please don't fall in the exercise fixes all of the root problem nonsense because it is definitely not.
Question when you get an adjustment do th3 bones actually go back into place, some people say that if you don't go to the chiropractor your spine will get out of place
A chiropractor should always take x rays first from there you need to tell them what you feel where it is how you might’ve got to that point. He will always focus on the back neck but little by little go to your main problem. Remember if it’s a back problem and your in 30-60 if it took years to fuck up your back don’t expect to be good after 3 sessions. There’s things that chiropractors can’t fix because you might need surgery.
@@scarred10 boney problem?? I would disagree as a chiropractic student who has worked under a chiropractor we always took xrays of a new patient and were able to mark up the xrays and show the patients the subluxation they had through x-rays.
Great point. Some chiropractors are like this. They don’t truly care for the patient and just do it for the money. But some are extremely helpful and treat the patient with whatever will benefit them most. It’s also easier said than done to give patients different exercises and stretches to do, and them actually doing them.
My old chiro from 15 years ago was legit and used to actually work on me including pregame with someone doing a massage. I would be in there for a while and the cracking was literally a small part of it at the very end. Now for the past 8 years I been trying chiros and all they want to do is crack everything and send me out in under 3 minutes. I thought I was going crazy thinking this isn’t what a real “chiropractor” does.
Mine evaluated my muscle strength, asked me loads of questions, was very gentle, and ultimately I felt immensely better afterwards. I was in a bad car accident and had tried getting my body to heal itself with no avail.
The first 3 - 4 days of seeing a chiropractor you want them to focus on exercise and diet before doing adjustments? That's ridiculous, you might as well go see a psyhical therapist. I had a chiropractor and the first appointment we did x-rays, they looked at my posture and had me to do certain movements. That's enough. The second appointment is when we started doing the adjustments and they'd give me homework with a bunch of exercises to do and even showing me the best way to sleep and the best way to climb out of bed.
X-rays are completely unnecessary for treatment outside of red flag situations, posture has no correlation with pain/dysfunction. Sorry to say it but by the sounds of it your Chiro is a quack. “Right way to get out of bed”? Cmon that’s just utter nocebo BS.
I'm the office manager for an excellent chiropractor. It helps my husband, son& I a great deal to be able to go in for 4-8 week check ups or if something seems "off". We enjoy powerlifting, but it can be hard on your body, even when you're trying to be as careful as possible. I think it's great to be in with a Chiropractor who can give us feedback about proper alignment& adjust any smaller issues, before they become worse& harder to manage. Patients always do best when they take personal responsibility& follow the Dr's instructions outside of the office. The Dr tries to screen out patients who just want "fast food" style care.
How the hell does something "feel off". I've blown my back out lifting so badly that I can't breath, it goes away the next day or 2 when I wake up, and I don't even get tonnes of sleep. Either I'm made of tougher stuff than you chiro patients, or you're full of shit, and I'm willing to bet I'm not just the toughest guy on earth.
Completely agree. On the other side of the equation are people unwilling to put in the work to maintain good biomechanics, adhere to corrective or rehab or strengthening exercises, stretching, diet, etc. it goes both ways. Also, multiple chiro visits isn't necessarily indicative of inefficacy. The same way one would have multiple visits to an OT, PT, or trainer, people need to understand that chiropractic visits aren't a one stop shop and fix all solution. It requires maintenance and adherence to lifestyle changes in addition to whatever adjustments, modalities, and soft tissue work a chiro can administer
I disagree with the one thing he said. Clients do not know what to expect. So it's not like they know what a rack em crack em is or whatever you said. Seriously it's on the Chiro to do the actual treatment not just the adjustment.
I was just trying to get a friend to understand this. A good chiropractor will bring relief through an adjustment back to proper alignment and also give exercises to maintain the adjustment. Even if the exercises are more physical therapy like in nature...the adjustment will set and stay making the patients quality of life better by giving them exercises to maintain .. instead they (not all) make the patient so dependent that they don't do the work of staying functional after they get popped. They spend all of this money and they could be living a better quality of life because they do the work to maintain the adjustment. I truly believe they will make more money by helping them.and not crippling them
Dude I get your point, but I'm pretty sure that chiros use their method because they would go bankrupt otherwise. 9/10 people want an instant treatment and don't want to work for themselves truly, and it's just not enough to work with just 1/10 of the people by the time the 9/10 say you're bad cuz you did "nothing" for the first "x" sessions. Part of those 9/10 are lazy, part ultra busy and just need a quick relief, part ignorant and part stupid and can't get your point about a "good" chiro treatment
I'm a chiropractor. This treatment isn't all about cracking only, the same science that guide physiotherapist also guide chiropractor, which is knowledge about human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathology. You don't just crack when not require. An x-ray will reveal if you need to be adjust, in fact vital sign such as blood pressure and any cardiac conditions should be verify because patient like these might not be able to absorb pressure on thoracic during prone position. Same with diabetic and osteoporosis patients. We help people in pain by interfere with wrong neurotransmission between afferent and efferent, stimulate energy, support vasodilation and manually bring muscles to it resting state to aid relaxation, We don't just do what comes to our head but we apply science just like every other medical professionals.
Chiropractor treatment is a scam! It never resolves the issue. Your function is similar to the function of a tylenol. It relieves some symptoms for a few time then symptoms come back.
For real? This is fascinating to me. May I ask for more info? Where did you train? What kind of format was it? How long was the course? Are you practicing now?
I’ve been a chiropractor for 35 years. I also do manipulation under general anesthesia in a hospital settings. None of you on this panel have the education to criticize chiropractors. Adjustments alone done properly is all you may need and I can prove it.
You don’t «adjust» anything, you give pain relief via the release of endogenous opioids. I do just as much good as a masseur as I do working as an osteopath.
I’ve been a chiropractor for 37 years. I went to the best school in the country. I work in a multidisciplinary medical facility. I started the chiropractic department there. None of you guys know what you’re talking about. And if you would like for me to come to your show and discuss it. I’d be happy to do that.
This is fair. There also has to be some extreme ownership on the patients part to explore physical therapy as well or strength training or mobility protocols in addition to a chiropractor.
Many good points made from credible participants because they have been through the journey. their opinion and perspective matters. The protocol you’re trying to remember is called practice management how to build big and prosperous chiropractic businesses. The techniques scenario you described could be called the hole-in-one. those chiropractors only thrust once or twice on a patient usually the upper cervical. ran into your video by accident actually. Retired chiropractor, commenting here be blessed!😇
This is such a progressive video. Y’all are way passed the bs on how chiros aren’t effective or not Doctors. Y’all go straight to the programming of how it works. Great video and 100% agree, I am a chiro-student and this is the way we’re being taught to be Doctors. Thanks for explaining it to people!
Chiro one did visit years ago . 20 for x-ray they took pictures of standing next to a chart that shows but you're not standing straight then at the end of the day they showed me how crooked my back was then I noticed that their chart was crooked itself
I just had a first session with a chiropractor today and he had multiple beds set up and was more focused on selling to me, my kids and my parents than actually dealing with the issue that I have. I won’t be going back. And for $70 for 5 mins, and you cannot guarantee me results, then I’m not interested in burning money. When I was a personal trainer, I would guarantee results
I have to agree. Becareful of were you go because they can potentially trick u. For example: I was going to this chiropractor for 3 months. And felt everything was going great until I told them on my last visit day I'm not coming back. I got adjusted that day and he adjusted me differently than what he used to. Until I got home I noticed that he purposely misaligned me from how I started 3months ago. (I was able to flex my back left should abd back) They stay trying to put me on a new plan. Smh. Hopefully I can find a great chiro.
I wonder if that's what happened to me. I had months of treatment, but on my last visit before I was going on a vacation that final treatment was to hurt me a ton. I'd told them that I was going on vacation and, to an extent, it ruined it for me. It was also my last visit I ever paid to them.
Damn just realized my chiro is a good one. he is adjusting me but also have given me all sorts of exercises and stretches and workouts to do. I am not doing them and he is visibly bothered by this. This changes tomorrow! Sorry doc!!
There are exceptions. I threw my back out pretty bad (its always a routine motion or easy lift that does it, I believe shoveling snow after long moving job in this case). Had to use my arms to push up out of a chair or go gown a set of stairs. I went to a friend of mine who had been a chiro for 30 years. But was my first time ever getting chiropractic. And i woulda been pissed if i didn’t get adjusted in that case. Just by watching me get out the chair, and get onto the table he knew. He identified where was out and spent 20 min adjusting, then gave me yogic stretches. I understand the sentiment of teaching corrective patterns and not necessarily adjusting on first session or 2, past intake/assessment, but again there are clear exceptions
I see my chiropractor once a week. My problem is that my C2 keeps coming out and it giving me neurological issues everything from speech problem, breathing, movement, concentration almost EVERYTHING! At one point I thought I must be riddled with cancer because I had tonnes of strange symptoms. He said when I’m stressed my neck muscle are pushing it out! So I read about the C2 and I’m worried about not fixing it and it becoming so acute that I’ll need surgery or end up paralysed
Ppl just bash things for content and just forget that most ppl don’t have disposable income to go to a PT and then a Chiro then tell them they just don’t want to work for it, when they’re literally trying to get out of pain to go to work. Since that’s all life has ever been for the majority.
All my Chiropractor at integrated medical in Chino California wanted to do every time I saw her was do adjustments. She did them with no caution or care & When I told her they hurt and I would not be getting them for the remainder of my 5 treatments. She got pissed and ended my treatment.
Should a person go see a doctor (Ortho, internist, etc) first and then see a chiropractor upon referral? Personally, it feels like my lower back is filled with wet sand/cement. If im in a supine or seated position I don't feel any pain. The pain occurs when I transition from seated to standing, standing to seated, seated to supine. It takes a little while for me to switch positions. I do tend to feel the pain when standing for long periods of time or walking, but that pain is a little higher in the mid back. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. (I know yt comments isn't the best place to go for advice sometimes, I'm really just wondering if I should see a doctor first; I'd rather not waste my time/money going to a chiropractor if they can't do anything for me, ya know?)
What you're describing is what they do at these joint franchises where people just want to get adjusted without a proper neurological orthopedic exam and x-rays evaluation.. you asked why because they pay $15 per adjustment and they don't want to pay the appropriate price of getting the problem corrected.
I go to a chiropractor factory. Lay down next to a bunch of other people and get cracked. It does feel great, but I also don’t have so many headaches and back pain:)
I went into a Chiro on Saturday with minor sciatica. He did a full treatment and I collapsed immediately and had to go to the ER. I'm now facing fusion surgery and it's Thursday. For context, I'm a 41 year old in perfect shape. I'm strong in the gym, flexible, and I'm 10 percent body fat. I can't even walk right now. He injured me.
@vzeller I know how you feel. I have multiple problems too. Sometimes our body just keeps failing us. Keep fighting do not give up. Pain is horrible just surround yourself with human company as much as possible to take your mind off your afflictions.
@@colinsmith1288 Life isn't easy. My body didn't fail me. The chiro did. Ha. I have spondylolisthesis. These clowns should never touch anyone without at least an X ray. I didn't know that until now but it's not my job to know. I'm not the "medical professional."
@vzeller Yeah l know what you are saying. An osteopath l had treated me for costocondritis aggravated some old scar tissue in my mid back. Now pulling other muscle structures. He did free some of it up afterwards but still a problem. I think sports therapists are a safer bet. Many train to degree level but with more controlled and gentler practices. I am starting to think chiropractioners belong in the dinosaur age.
My chiropractor never gave me any exercises, said I need an x ray. And sold me a plan and said to come in every 2 weeks, when did you see that you need that?
Why in the hell would I go to a chiropractor who is going to wait three or four sessions before they treat me and I’m in severe pain?! How about they treat me, get rid of the pain, and then figure out how to prevent it from coming back.
It is called open room practices, legit points!! But daily stressors do affect peoples physiology daily, so maintenance care is not a bad thing in my opinion I have been helped allot by just getting some home exercises and simply getting adjusted :)
I don’t understand why people don’t just save their money and see a physio instead for most minor issues . What a physio can’t fix go see your Dr as an Orthopaedic specialist referral may be needed or you may even need a Rheumatologist if the cause is autoimmune related. The right course of treatment is best decided by your GP initially. I certainly know that had we gone down that route with my husband and thrown money at a chiropractor initially his rheumatoid arthritis would have been completely missed . He needed blood work and the right referral - THEN medication and physical therapy . Not the same for everyone but I just feel that ppl are throwing money away at the symptom rather than exploring the cause which could be dangerous in the long run .
right on !!!! totally agree. but all they think about is the next client. also agree with the exercise snd stretching. i’m guilty of not doing this, but you guys are correct.
Totally disagree about the adjust only. The ONLY one I went to in GA who was no-frills adjust. I felt great and did not have to keep seeing him every week. Guys he relieved the pressure and I was relieved. EXERCISE with stretching can get your body better balanced
Chiropractors don't teach people exercises. That's the job of a physical therapist. There's also a ton of videos on TH-cam with physical therapist, chiropractors teaching people exercises. The important part of finding a good chiropractor is to find someone with good hands and skill. This aspects vary greatly between different chiropractors.
Chiropractic applied kinesiologist for 36+ yrs here. A great deal of what is said in the video is quite correct. The commenters below who completely dismiss the chiropractic adjustment (and indeed chiropractic itself) as nonsense, are ignorant, incurious idiots ... obviously with no relevant background. I can easily point them to scholarly research which beautifully explains the neurology of the spinal "adjustment" (antiquated terminology -- but I'll use it here for simplicity). The adjustment -- if delivered accurately and precisely, DOES positively affect neurology by correcting mechanoreceptor and nociceptor sensory feedback from involved joints. By the way - the prevalent notion that subluxation causes "pinching-off" of spinal nerves as the exit the canal is also nonsense... based on theories dating back to the Palmers in 1895. The adjustment should serve (as the panel correctly points out) as an important step in an exercise, soft tissue balancing, nutritional approach to functional health.... NOT as the be all/end all treatment. The rack-'em, stack-'em, see you 3x/week-for-life program is embarrassing.
Chiropractic neck adjustments are DANGEROUS. Each adjustment potentially stretches the ligaments more each time. The insidious part is it’s not always a torn vertebral artery resulting in stroke after one time. It could once, OR could be be 5-10 adjustments before you realize that burning nerve pain in your SKULL is the result of trashed upper neck ligaments (I.e. chiropractor induced Cranio-Cervical Instability, in my case)
The root cause - the most confusing thing ever..... If you sit behind a desk working the whole day - that physical and emotional stress is the cause - how do we get rid of it? Retire - root cause gone🙂 Often all we do is manage stresses and causes when you cannot get away from the root cause. As for exercises - yes you need them. Yes they are beneficial and I prescribe specific stretches and exercises for patients. However you need to consider - if you have a structural issue and doing exercises on top of that, are you helping it or setting them up future compensation patterns?
This is a good perspective. As a practicing chiropractor myself, sometimes patients come in expecting me to “crack” them. I always explain that we will get to doing adjustments but I need to evaluate them thoroughly first and use education and other methods to truly correct the problem.
Guys I just started seeing an upper cervical chiropractor for cervical instability. I am paying $3000 for this. Am I being scammed? I heard the upper cervical chiropractors are way better than average chiropractors.
Every chiropractor event been to for like a decade, they’ll charge me $50 for two minutes of work. And then I just stop going like 15 years ago I’ve been fine.
Guys I just started seeing an upper cervical chiropractor for cervical instability. I am paying $3000 for this. Am I being scammed? I heard the upper cervical chiropractors are way better than average chiropractors. My current upper cervical chiropractor has recommended 1 exercise but only after I asked him if there were any exercises that could help.
I’ve been a chiropractor for 35 years. I don’t know what your education level is, but you really don’t know what you are talking about. Adjustments only do work. You clearly don’t understand the underlying pathology. Have me on your problem and let chiropractors defend themselves.
The future of the healing arts, especially chiropractic, is movement focused therapy. However there are undeniable neurophysiologic effects that happen after adjustment for the relief of chronic pain and improvement of proprioceptive function. These neurophysiologic effects are what the kind of chiropractors, who "wack em n crack em," are selling
I have the best Chiro he sets you up with massages, movements and then light small adjustments and focuses on telling and showing me how to exercise the muscles that are at severe… Everything is on the patient the chiropractor only can do less than 50% of the work the rest is on the patient they need to do those exercises everyday. The work is hard 🤷🏼♂️
The reason chiros don't correct the root cause is to get the patient to come back to pay them money continously. Ive worked for good chiros and bad chiros. And the good ones will always spend more time with you and try to correct posture and assist you in strengthening muscle. Not just crack you in 5 minutes and youre on your way.
They maybe confusing a physical therapist with chiropractic. The office worker or old man that sits in a chair all day probably isn't going to put much into it unless its chronic and dramatically impacting life quality, then hopefully they do and get to the root cause and correct it.
So if you expect a chiropractor also doing stretching and range of motion exercise, why not straight go to medical rehabilitation office? They do it with better tools and knowledge
Chiropractors or Doctors in general, or even a trainer for that matter, cannot control what a patient does when they leave the office. My chiropractor does coach and teach people about healthy living but I guarantee that a large percentage of people just go on living their unhealthy lifestyle and just come back when they're hurting again. I've been guilty of that so I'm speaking from experience.
I agree with those people to some extent. But also, arew those guys chiropractors? i'm just shedding light to the fact that everyone that is mocking the chiropractic ain't really a chiropractor themself. Just like me, I ain't a physiotherapist, I won't be talking them down because I have no actual knowledge about their profession to comment what they should do or not. As a chiropractic student I agree, but don't forget about a chiropractor's philosophy.
I thought I had a good Chiropractor until I watch this video. Every appointment the longest was about 5 minutes no advice what so ever. I paid over 4K for the treatment, It kind of help but now my back pain is coming back again. How to find a good Chiropractor?
Do you do any stretches daily? I was in the same boat, I went for around 6 months I think, and paid around $2000. My last visit before a vacation was my worst and put me in a lot of pain (I was doing well up until then) and I never returned. I then started doing stretches, daily, and my back pains have gone and my flexibility in all areas has improved.

As a practicing chiropractor, I agree about getting to the root cause. The root cause is not always poor biomechanics. Often the root cause of poor biomechanics is diminished sensory-motor function. There are other factors on top of that too.

Torn ligaments! Like how bad is it?? This is what I want to know about. What is it like if those ligaments are torn? Need to know
They’re not a bad chiropractor for doing their job, which is to adjust the spine.
You people are simply amazing 🤩 full stop . so many people sit and judge without any understanding of what you do. 🇬🇧🙏
Well there are bad chiropractors when they market themselves promising to fix your issues
I saw a guy the other day that told me that he had seeing his chiropractor for 32 years. My thought was after 32 years he still hasn’t fixed you.

I went to a chiropractor once. All he did was crack my neck, back, use a massage gun and a drop table. After 5 sessions, I stopped going.

Hi doc, I hope you'll notice do xray will show if a patient need adjustment?

A chiropractor should always take x rays first from there you need to tell them what you feel where it is how you might’ve got to that point. He will always focus on the back neck but little by little go to your main problem. Remember if it’s a back problem and your in 30-60 if it took years to fuck up your back don’t expect to be good after 3 sessions. There’s things that chiropractors can’t fix because you might need surgery.
An xray wont tell you anything in the vast majority of cases since it's not a boney problem ,subluxations dont exist so what are you looking for.

A gonstead chiropractor is the real deal
Mine evaluated my muscle strength, asked me loads of questions, was very gentle, and ultimately I felt immensely better afterwards. I was in a bad car accident and had tried getting my body to heal itself with no avail.
Thanks to those "Instagram chiropractors" that just want to look cute and shows the loudest "cracks" for some reason
I had one of those 3 minute guys. Had to quit. Made worse. And I started praying that would be able to walk back to car.
Your back doesn’t go “out of alignment.” It’s not a thing. The whole idea of “adjustments” perpetuated by chiropractors is 100% archaic nonsense.
You go because you are friends with the chiropractor. Let’s be honest.
Even if the exercises are more physical therapy like in nature...the adjustment will set and stay making the patients quality of life better by giving them exercises to maintain
.. instead they (not all) make the patient so dependent that they don't do the work of staying functional after they get popped.
Rehab therapist based out of a chiro practice here:

You can obtain the same results from a physical therapist, minus the cracking & “adjusting” of a chiropractor…most likely for less money.
I trained as a Chiropractor. I graduated in the top 10% of my class. I have absolutely no idea what a Chiropractic adjustment is for, or does.
For real? This is fascinating to me. May I ask for more info? Where did you train? What kind of format was it? How long was the course? Are you practicing now?
What program did you graduate from
Say what
I am a chiropractor from India, well done you guyzzzz ❤❤❤
Great topic,
Do you guys believe in structure proceeds function?
Nice try diddy
Hi doc, I hope you'll notice do xray will show if a patient needs adjustment?
Thank you doc
That’s 37 years of being full of shit.
Nailed it. Agree 💯 percent
You're a charlatan
@@jonathansoko5368 proof?
Don't you mean "cracked it"?
please, expound
YOU ARE A FRAUD
They aren't doctors.
They will never be doctors.
You’re not a doctor
I've been wanting to work in something physical therapy related. This provides such a great insight on things I need to do in the future.
I get yelled every time when I tell my chiro Ive been skimping on my exercises. Guess I have a good one. Lol
100 percent 1:55
Chiro one did visit years ago . 20 for x-ray they took pictures of standing next to a chart that shows but you're not standing straight then at the end of the day they showed me how crooked my back was then I noticed that their chart was crooked itself
Not Guna lie I had pain from just breathing and a chiropractor made it go away so there deff is utility to it
Oh, man! Thanks for not lying! I was fully expecting you to lie, but now Im relieved to know youre not going to. Phew!

Sorry doc!!
I’m the same I haven’t been doing my exercises 😂 it’s bad tho I need to stay consistent with it
I've been cracking my back and knuckles for the past 25ish years. So that makes me a master Shamen Voodoo Chiropractor
Good to know. I'll stop going to my current one cause he isn't telling me about exercise and maintaining that adjustment.
What if I'm not in pain but want to go. Is it worth it?
I went into a Chiro on Saturday with minor sciatica. He did a full treatment and I collapsed immediately and had to go to the ER. I'm now facing fusion surgery and it's Thursday. For context, I'm a 41 year old in perfect shape. I'm strong in the gym, flexible, and I'm 10 percent body fat. I can't even walk right now. He injured me.
How are you now. I hope this time you get the proper treatment.
@@colinsmith1288 I haven't worked since that day. I'm trying to get Second mri now. I might need surgery.
I filmed a documentary about a chiropractor that offers more than just the adjustment. 👍
The Spine Worx located in Lafayette Indiana. Starbucks/factory for adjustments exactly what this video talks about
My chiropractor never gave me any exercises, said I need an x ray. And sold me a plan and said to come in every 2 weeks, when did you see that you need that?
Why in the hell would I go to a chiropractor who is going to wait three or four sessions before they treat me and I’m in severe pain?! How about they treat me, get rid of the pain, and then figure out how to prevent it from coming back.
every case is different. if u cant move then of course they will vet u on table asap
I agree with you entirely. This exact same thing happened to me. He didn't even recommend pain killers on my first visit when I was in absolute agony.
Hey guys, could you explain what an adjustment is?
Good video. The place I go to has chiropractors that do adjusting and then pt stuff in a room you go to afterwards
The fkd up part is that there's no financial incentive for them to actually fix you.
Neither is a mental health dr let sink in
obviously they don't understand chiropractic, we chiropractors must communicate better
Retire - root cause gone🙂
Often all we do is manage stresses and causes when you cannot get away from the root cause.

Thank you. I had a bad accident and my chiropractor fixed me right up. These guys are quacks, not chiropractors.
Dr John Bergman / Huntington Beach & Tijuana Mexico 👍🏻
The future of the healing arts, especially chiropractic, is movement focused therapy. However there are undeniable neurophysiologic effects that happen after adjustment for the relief of chronic pain and improvement of proprioceptive function. These neurophysiologic effects are what the kind of chiropractors, who "wack em n crack em," are selling
1:33 Its called a High Volume Practice. With three tables set up next to one another you can see 20-30 patients per hour.
What if your "cause" is natural spinal stenosis. Nothing you can do about that?
The best “adjuster” is Physiotherapist who has a medical degree.
I have the best Chiro he sets you up with massages, movements and then light small adjustments and focuses on telling and showing me how to exercise the muscles that are at severe…
Everything is on the patient the chiropractor only can do less than 50% of the work the rest is on the patient they need to do those exercises everyday.
I can do the exercises myself but I can’t do the adjustments my self or as good
They maybe confusing a physical therapist with chiropractic.
LOL bless your heart
