Played all three. As a kid, I had a hard time with them, especially the forest platform stage in Eternal Night. That segment always had me in the verge of tears, cursing at Spyro from my tv screen. Still love them tho lol
Man I still really like the Legend of Spyro series. Is it different? Yeah. But it was still fun to play. Every time people talk about the long respawning enemy areas im like, "when..?" The only time I remember spending more than a minute or two on a combat section is the final boss of the second game. And there's still plenty of platforming and exploration in the games as well that use the classic Spyro controls.
I enjoyed the Legend of Spyro for how it emphasized more on dragons. You may think of Spyro as “cutesy platformer collectathon”, but there's no shortage of those. When I think “Spyro” I think “Playable heroic dragon.” And the TLoS Spyro was just as playable, more heroic, and draconic. His new abilities like the Earth flail from the Eternal Night and his Blizzard twister from Dawn of the Dragon just adds a new layer to what makes dragons interesting. And to top it off, Cynders abilities are useful and fun in their own way too. And she's just a much better character. The way she deals with her tragic past makes her very admirable for her resilience. You put yourself in her shoes, you might just go insane from guilt (I know I would). And Malefor? He's just a far bigger threat who managed to destroy the planet cementing him with the highest body count in just one move. When I hear “dragon” I think “fierce strength, powerful magic, and intelligence.” And they don't get one shotted once their bug guardian is not around to protect them. It has flaws, I get it. But I love it for what it tried with what limited time and budget it had for each instalment.

Yeah the statement actually is true. It's technically the first HD game for the OG Xbox (or of any console ever since the OG Xbox was the first console in general to support HD resolutions). Enter the Matrix only upscales to 1080i.

I think the Ninja Gaiden reboot on the OG Xbox might actually qualify as the single greatest video game reboot of all time. At least I'm having a lot of trouble coming up with a better one right now. Despite being absolutely terrible at it, it still blew me away back in the day.
I could never forget legend of Spyro, I grew up with it and it was also my first Spyro game, it had issues sure but I still love it and and I have fond memories of it
Hey, Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning was pretty damn enjoyable. The combat's decent and the story's alright, but that atmosphere, man. That game knew how to make a fantastic atmosphere. I have yet to play Eternal Night and Dawn of the Dragon yet. :(
Eternal Night is hard as nails but arguably has the best elemental abilities. And defeating the final boss is incredibly satisfying (and the bonus you can unlock after that makes for some quality revenge fuel on Newgameplus.) Dawn of the Dragon is my favourite. Its button layout leaves opportunities for more abilities than ever before (as some in-game abilities and concept arts prove). Swapping between single player and coop was quick and easy. And playing as Cynder had her own advantages, especially using wind to pick up shield guys. And grabbing was an ability I used every time I could. Check out the move list in the menu for inspiration. Then there was chapter mode which helped so much with getting 100%. Free flight at any time while limited raises the bar for blissful traversal (especially when you fly over Avalar. Makes you want to see this in open world format with no flight limitations). They're all flawed, so what? I love them to death.
Imagine a Golden Axe game with Bayonetta gameplay and a group of characters similar to the group from Lord of the Rings. Just a fun medieval romp with funny characters and a not too serious story.

Ooooh, I didn't forget about you Golden Axe: Beast Rider. Golden Axe was one of those games that I played when I was real small. It introduced me to darker, more violent fantasy realms that I enjoy to this day. I loved it. It was an average beat em up, but the magic was super cool and the characters were different and all looked cool. The story was fun, the game was challenging, boss fights were awesome. But Beast Rider. Omg, I saw that just browsing through Gamestop one day and was like "What?! A modern Golden Axe? I need it". It was garbage. The beasts had no health and were hard to control, which meant that aspect was basically gone. Enemies took forever to kill and spawned for way too long leading to button mashing for 20 minutes just to walk for 1 minute to button mash somewhere else. Original Golden Axe had mounts, too. They were super powerful, and could kill most enemies in one to two hits. But there was 2 caveats to it. You had to hit an enemy to knock them off, and then get on. If an enemy hit you while you were on a mount, you would fall off and they could take it. If too many people get knocked off the mount, it'll run away. It made it balanced. Even though it was powerful, it could be used against you. It had limited use, so you had to be smart about it. Beast Rider the mounts were just... useless. It was a giant disappointment.

Ninja Gaiden 3 was super fun to play in my opinion. Yeah there was that dumb robot dinosaur, but I kinda like the idea of a ninja fighting A GIANT ROBOT DINOSAUR!
Ah, the ole' Rocket Knight reboot. I remember that when you reviewed Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster once upon a time. That was my first video of yours that I saw and became a fan.
I actually just got done marathoning the Legend of Spyro trilogy again. Not as good as the classics of course but I think it’s pretty good mostly due to being a sucker for edgy stories involving animals. The gameplay of the first 2 kinda suck though, but it’s worth it for me for the story; the third one definitely outshines the other two in every way.
Hydro Thunder Hurricane is just already but the spiritual successor H2Overdrive is one of the best racing games ever made and in my opinion one of the best games period. The only problem is that it has been stuck in arcades with no signs of a console port especially given that the game is now 10 years old.

Totally agree. It's an amazing Metroidvania. Solid controls, fun gameplay, and an amazing soundtrack. Got it in a Humble bundle and played the hell out of it.
My dad would be pissed of he heard of the Yars Revenge remake
But how would he feel about the Space Invaders remake called "Space Raiders"??
Rocket Knight looks like Mighty No. 9
OH MY GOD! I can't believe that someone is talking about Dragon's Lair 3D!
GBA Spyro trilogy was my shit growing up (trilogy being Season of Fire, Season of Ice and Attack of the Rhynocs)
Dude Golden Axe Beast Rider was the fucking best XD Loved that game as a kid
-hears ninja gaiden. immediate cringe as Yaiba flashbacks come to mind before it is said-
Ninja Gaiden reboot, the Black and the Sigma releases, were awesome.
Really worth getting into especially fans of Dead or Alive fighting games.
I loved playing blitz as a kid on the xbox. I wish they would bring it back and make it even more ridiculous, stupidly, violent
Sunk MANY hours into the SSX reboot. Wasn't quite the peak that was SSX 3 but I loved it, and I can enjoy a Wub Wub from time to time.
We actually have two of those Arctic Thunder machines in our arcade. Really nice, despite their age
I loved the dragon's lair 3D when i was a kid. I played that game to death on the PC. Also we desperately need a new rocket knight adventures. That game was so good
golden axe 3 was so awesome tho
u can do *friendship powerbombs* in co op
Ah, Sparkster. That’s the first game I’ve ever beaten on the hardest difficulty to see the real ending.
I forgot it was Austin, and then he said, "Yo." and I was all like, "It's our boy!"
Glad to see im not the only one who loved the SSX reboot. It's probably the most time I've spent on a racing game
The only Ninja Gaiden I've played really is Dragon Sword for the DS, but I played it so much I was worried I would break my touch screen from slashing at it so much.
The first Legend of Spyro was my childhood. Never got to play the others
The Death of ninja Gaiden (and the existence and sucsses of Nioh) makes me Sad
Ninja Gaiden Sigma II was one If the best Action games i ever played (alongside Bayo 2 DMC3SE and DMC5) i want a Ninja Gaiden IV Crazy like II and with all the improvments Action games had the Last years but really really super hard
I picked up SSX recently for the PS3 and it's really good, not as good as SSX 3 but still a lot of fun. The multiplayer servers are still alive too!
Ninja Gaiden 3 was super fun to play in my opinion. Yeah there was that dumb robot dinosaur, but I kinda like the idea of a ninja fighting A GIANT ROBOT DINOSAUR!
Need a full Panzer Dragoon remake in my veins
Ah, the ole' Rocket Knight reboot. I remember that when you reviewed Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster once upon a time. That was my first video of yours that I saw and became a fan.
I actually just got done marathoning the Legend of Spyro trilogy again. Not as good as the classics of course but I think it’s pretty good mostly due to being a sucker for edgy stories involving animals. The gameplay of the first 2 kinda suck though, but it’s worth it for me for the story; the third one definitely outshines the other two in every way.
17:58 the interview has no audio also i miss ssx and combo sports games in general
That is super weird. I can hear it just fine on my speakers.
Hydro Thunder Hurricane is just already but the spiritual successor H2Overdrive is one of the best racing games ever made and in my opinion one of the best games period. The only problem is that it has been stuck in arcades with no signs of a console port especially given that the game is now 10 years old.
Most of those reboots are actually ones I've never heard of before. The only one I'm familiar with is The Legend of Spyro.
