Can you do a review of insta stick? Fixing plasterboards to walls with just foam? Would be good to see the pros and cons and if it’s better than adhesive.
Do you need to cut them a bit wider to allow for the thickness of the dab on the joining wall? Eg. If your reveals were 200mm all round would you cut them at 220mm to give a 20mm gap for the dab of the overlapping board, or is that a little ott and you just let the bead cover it?
Hi, I have dot and dab the party wall in my house between the neighbours and it seems to of helped slightly with sound but I hear it’s a bad idea for noise, we have a Victorian house we are thinking of removing the dab, any thoughts in your opinion? Thanks
I did a lot of research on this before embarking on my own acoustic protection. You’re right, the science suggests that the voids behind the D&D plasterboard can act like a drum. Companies will hack off the boards and fit rail systems to effectively decouple the internal wall from the party wall. This can include going into the ceiling and the floor. They will also use high density matting, acoustic sealant and acoustic plasterboard which is doubled up and overlapped. The noise reduction is a massive improvement BUT it is an very expensive option. There are loads of videos about this on TH-cam
Quick question pal...wheh you stuck those boards to the wall...i could see tiny gap at the top against the cieling ...is that normal and do i not need to fill it ?
So where you were short on packing the first board, it left you short from the ceiling. What do you do about that? A sliver of board or bonding/hardwall?
How do u deal with wooden nogins sunder window board and if there is gap what would u fil it with do u scrim of the wood or is there another thing todo
Always have your dab like a cornish pasty, not like pancakes ,and use the full width of the trowel not the end ,also solid dabs on the reveals so you can knock a bead on ,nowt worse skimming behind someone who doesn't do that
No to wall paper and yeah to the above . Just maybe on smooth walls . Put a key on it , like blue grit . But if normal painted walla then you don't need to
hi alex, could you explain why you cut the board down after it goes off and not cut it to size when you fix it (kitchen). p.s. lose the beard its aging you LOL.
This is an extremely useful video for novice plasterers. Thanks very much.
Thought u needed solid dabs on window reveals 1 for drafts 2 for fixing beads ?
This guy is great at his trade and also gifted at explaining/teaching.
Fantastic video buddy. Really learned some extra tips in this one! Looking forward to the next in the series.
Excellent info got 2 bed flat to do from scratch never done dot dab or plastering before great info
Finally got a bucket cheers mate 👍
Cracking video pal. Keep it up. Would love to see how you use the dewalt dri wall cutter. Had some mixed times with it 😂
Thanks alex, you helped me alot especially after i left college ❤. A Truly gifted professional
Cracking video keep them coming 😁
rubber mallet is handy for tapping the straight edge aswell
I have seen this method used. I like it a lot. I really should buy a mallet. Would be handy.
Great knowledge thanks mate
You could attach a smaller fat max level to the straight edge saves time with double handing the straight edge and level back and forth 👍🏻
Hi Alex...thanks for the video...when is the third one in the series coming out please?

Newbe question! You said you cut the reveals at 220mm, would I be right in thinking that means the biggest measurement was 200mm?

Blue sound block board should do the job. Bit of a late reply though

Adhesive would do it as well

Really you should use EML to go over timber.
Ok thanks

Hi mate, what do you do round metal socket boxes?
Plasterboard cutter from dewalt.
@@AlexMorleyPlastering I mean dab wise? Do you do compete dabs all round the box?
@@richard01206 yep. Solid dabs
What a trowel are you using Alex
I think the trowel used in this video was a 13” MT Carbon. Wooden Handle.
Suction is a plasterers friend.

It’s a bit easier to get it accurate rather than trying to square up all 3 sides all at one time.
To the 👁
Just dabbing bro , come on you should know this
I am aware of this. However it is also just a generic term. 👍
You're not dot and dabbing, you're just dabbing amount of people that call it dot and dabbing when its the wrong name
