What a great video, love the tips you've given here. I always believe in ngoid prep work which can in itself take a whole day to do. Not sure how other guys do the prep work and plastering in one day.

Hi Andrew thanks for the feedback. It’s a great trade. I love it still all these years in. I don’t personally do Venetian. There isn’t a great market for it where I live.
One more question what's the advantages disadvantages of using sand and cement over hard wall, what's the difference please. Loving your videos and content.

Hi Alex does hard wall tend to crack less then bonding? Filling in chases down to brick. Or as long it's covered with pva do both work equally as well?
I don’t think there much in it. We PVA the chase first, bond out, then PVA again if we are skimming over it the next day. If we are plastering the same day, no need to PVA the bonding.
Great video Alex as always, very informative, but I would like to know if you have to play the wall before you plaster and apply it when it's sticky or get 2 coats on the day before, any thoughts
If you are watering down the PVA then 2 coats is a good idea. It being tacky to skim over isn’t a thing. Plaster is wet anyway, so will make the PVA a bit moist again anyway. If your applying PVA neat I definitely wouldn’t apply 2 coats unless it was very porous. And I wouldn’t go Over it tacky as the plaster risks sliding on the wall where the PVA mixes in with the plaster. This is a nightmare when this happens. Really hard to get a good finish.
Another question if that's okay I'm not a plasterer but I can plaster a friend of mine who is a plasterer says he only ever uses SBR now as its more stable than PVA?? Is that true?? Cheers Ian
I don’t personally use SBR. it’s very effective at killing suction, but it’s very messy, and difficult to clean off surfaces it’s not meant to be on. 50/50 PVA to Bluegrit combo is our preferred choice. Easy to apply, easy to clean off, and reasonably priced. You can also easily see where you have been.

How much pva do you add to the blue grit? Could you explain when you would use PVA blue grit or SBR many thanks!

I PVA the bonding if it’s done the day before. Twice with watered down PVA.
I thought I was the Only 🥜 with OCD, I Always PVA my cut edges 🤣😂, most spread pull the 🟡 Out of me, when they see me pre apply the above
Good practice my friend. The difference it makes is night and day. Don’t feel bad for being a cut above the rest. 💪
