    I watched this because I have recently moved from a traditional plastered house to a dry lined one. Now I understand what is behind the lining and I'm much happier about small DIY jobs. Thanks.

      Vertical alignment is a key difference. Advantages with both however when it is done a way for a certain amount of item the material are adapted an sized for it.
      I think even the bag you get insulation from are different. You have more rectangular, which I think is for tighter transport costs. We are use more to rolls, which can in some case be cut while in the bag rolled up surprisingly accurately with a careful technique.

    Excellent, continuous dabs at floor, ceiling around sockets and external openings - as required for good air tightness tests later.

    I was a general foreman for a huge contractor, then a contracts mananager,in charge of multi million pound contracts, we used to use a team of contract guys for dry walling who were the tops, one guy mixed the adhesive, in a huge tub as you see here while the other guys were measuring and cutting the sheets, the mixer guy did not move from the middle of the floor, he scooped and threw with deadly accuracy the daubs onto the walls , as fast as he worked the other guys were placing the boards in place, a real team effort.Their work was faultless, swift clean efficient and skilled.

    They guys are very good, clean and productive. As an American, we would furr the wall with framing strips and attach the gypsum panel. I am curious as to why not just plaster the wall? They still have to come back and treat the joints with a two to three coats, right? I am not critical, they are pros. But wouldn't people want skim coat plaster? We would do what we call two coat veneer. a thin sand coat then a smooth gypsum when it sets, but not dry.

    This is perfectly good workmanship. For the other viewers on here looking to learn something, you may or may not be aware but the boards adjacent to an entry and egress, i.e. a doorway have to have so many mechanical fixings to hold the boards in situ in the event of a fire to allow for the occupants to escape. If they don't have the fixings and the boards come off the wall they can block the exit point and trap people inside.

      in America most new homes dont even have plaster on the wall just taped drywall so insalation and accoustic dampening is much less than in the UK. There is a very small proportion of plasterers in the US most people use Mud unlike in the UK where every home has plaster walls which are much more durable so.........

      In the UK most walls are skimmed with finish plaster, the joints would be taped with scrim tape. Occasionally finished in tape and jointing but not as common and usually you would use a taperer edge board.

    I'd like to know what is in that mix. like others have commented, no vapor barrier or insulation between the paper backed wallboard and blocks. Tisk tisk.

      not required, read my post earlier.

      Vapour barrier not required insulation is in the cavity of the face brickwork and interior blockwork . Mix is thistle ‘drywall’ adhesive . Obvs you no nothing on uk house construction?

      @daneapeterson 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing wrong with installing GWB (gypsum wall board) directly onto concrete or CMU (concrete masonry units) walls as shown in this video. All the required insulation will be on the outside of the CMU resulting in the dew point being well outside the outer face of the CMU. With this assembly the CMU wall will be the same temperature as the interior living space. Bingo, a dry wall assembly and no mould. Very professional job with pride in workmanship evident. Well done lads

      Cavity wall construction. Behind the grey wall blocks is the cavity (now filled with insulation), then the exterior brickwork.

    • @BobElHat
      @BobElHat 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's only impressive if you don't care about the horrific noise and resonance problems that wall will suffer. Search for "NHBC wall linings and acoustic performance" to see what using a few spread-out dabs like this will do to noise performance.

    • @dohnjoe1337
      @dohnjoe1337 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You sound like a proper jobsworth. No one's arsed about noise performance. Nothing wrong with the dabs either, solid (picture frame) where they need to be.

      @BobElHat 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dohnjoe1337 Nice to see you take pride in your work. You might not give a shit about noise performance but the poor fuckers who have to live there do. Sounds like you're as much of an embarrassment to the trade as these muppets.

    This is a good video, only one issue I can see. Some bits didn't get sealed properly at the top. This is in building regulations and standards. If you don't you then create a lot of issues. 1) sound penetration 2) fire spread and most important 3) air leak and movement behind the plasterboard which created a massive headache for homeowners as they cannot heat their houses, feel cold and cannot pinpoint the issue as there is constant draught and heat retention is decreased massively. Please seal the perimeter properly.

    Stop setting your corners 90 degrees in the window reveals.
    Once the corner tapes are on, it makes the acute angles therefore not square when finished
