Agree, fair play to this geezer Adam who know has a new sub on the strength of this one review vid.
I need a comparison with a new 10 plus cuz that's what I have right now
For moving objects, iphone is bad and samsung i the worst phone ever. Dont know why they dont adress that.

Awesome video! Here are the key moments:

3:25 Battery test (6AM to 1AM, 19 hours, 5% remaining)

TH-cam put your video in my feed and I am glad TH-cam finally did something right. Great review! My favorite camera software feature in Samsung is that you can pause video while recording and then un-pause to continue filming. I'm glad you pointed out the shutter lag is still there. Your little puppy is the cutest thing ever! Keep up the great work!!
Don't people use burst shot anymore? Why spam the shutter button when you can swipe it down to take like 100 photos in 4 seconds
Because burst shots are usually worst quality, with poor hdr.@@bazookatooth
You can use one handed mode for easily reaching around the screen and it is easily activated.
I think the reason they designed the s pen to stick a little bit out is because of phone covers, mostly people use phones with covers and I am personally using s23 ultra will the wallet cover and in term of user experience, taking out the pen and then inserting back is not so good but with this design I think it will work great.
Eh, I guess. The oppo find x7 ultra is the way I'm going.
Yeap, I think so. It was quite of a struggle all the time to get the spen out with a cover on.
all the cases i have for my s23ultra, i dont have that problem you say. For me the best cases are from ESR, not spigen this time.
@@ElitePortraits UAG cases are the best there is imo.

I think the shutter issue is to do with how they have programme it - it's once you release the button rather than once you press it, there's a setting either in the camera app or the cam assistant app through good lock that allows you to take a photo as you press the button rather than release it.
I really appreciate the review. Only thing is that I would have loved to see the screenshots from that battery test. Where was the battery being used up the most? Things like that. Thanks!
Same here. I have the S24U and honestly I expected more from the battery, dunno if I'm doing something wrong
Thanks for the very informative video. I am getting a new phone very soon and this was perfect timing for me!
I am interested in knowing the battery drain rate X% / minute taken as an average in a longer test for various apps and functions. How long can it last streaming video? While running navigation software? While gaming? While game streaming? While playing music? While on social media? etc. Test it in 1080p, and test in in 1440p, since the screen resolution can change.
I can read anywhere about this phone's capabilities but I can never find detailed battery information that informs the choice between the small and large devices or between devices with homemade unique processors.
I also thought it was extremely odd how the S-pen sticks out. It has to be deliberate to be easier to use with cases IMO. There is no way something like that would go unnoticed and no reason they couldn't make it flush like previous years
Well my mate had the S23 for about 3 month before I asked how was the stylus and he didn't even know it had 1 😂 maybe it's for the simpletons who upgrade and have no idea what tech they have 😂
I thought it was just me or something was wrong with my pen.
Honestly speaking, you may be onto something here. I am with UAG Monarch pro case and that bump really helps to get the pen out while in the case. I imagine it would be much harder to push it if it was flush with the frame.
Yes, easier with cases.
My titanium violet 512gb s24ultra got delivered at noon on the 24th. Have been using this thing HEAVILY for thr last 48hrs...and its UNBELIEVABLE. In EVERY. SINGLE. WAY. Battery life is REMARKABLE. WOW. So glad i got this phone. Went from my broken inner screen Fold 4. Too this monster. Just WOW.
my ZFold 3 has a scratch right in the middle of the inner screen that keeps getting bigger and bigger little by little and I felt it was the time to go back to a non-foldable phone and here now not wanting to wait to get my s24 ultra.
I can't wait for my s24 ultra lol, I think its being delivered in 2 days I hope
@Dreamerlok Trust me, you're not going to be disappointed!! My fold 4 cracked RIGHT down the middle after 3 months -.- used the tiny cover display as my phone for the last year. Finally having a big beautiful display again..omg. The typing feels like magic!!
Nice to hear. I had the fold 1 for 3 years (rough around the edges but worked until end of contract) I have the fold 4 for 12 months and I never unfold it anymore - getting my s24 ultra next week and trading in my fold 4 for the deal they have - looking forward to going back to the phablet phone.
Just a question my froend have yoh noticed that the screen isnt bright enough and the colors seem off? I dont know whats the reason behind this
I've had mine for just over a week and the anti-glare is arguably the biggest win. I spent last week in Milan at a trade fair, and the lights can be a nightmare, but this thing just countered all of it effortlessly. A big step-up from my S22 Ultra.
is z fold 6 confirm to have s25 or s24 ultra looking display ASBYT?after watching ur video on samsung press conference i read tweets of revegnus and ice universe which were hinting at 25 ultra type design
Test the modem in the S24 Ultra to see the new X75 compares with other phones. I'm asking because I live in a rural area and I tend to have spotty coverage. I hate having my calls disconnect.
The best part of your entire video is your new puppy ❤❤ Sooo cute !!! Adorable !
Thank you for the hard work you do. I know that, although fun, it is painstaking creating these videos. Just want you to know that you are more appreciated than you can imagine.

Hey ASBYT ( and all youtube reviewers) i am both Samsung and iPhone fan and i just got my S24 ultra, but you should all state in your videos when you compare brand new out of the box phone with the older used one. Even 1 month or 2 can make a significant impact on device performance.

Thanks for pointing out that shutter lag unfortunately still exists. It can be pretty frustrating paying over 1000 bucks/euros for device and ending up with blurry photos of people, kids, pets... All of the other reviewers either don't mention it or say that it's "almost non existant".
From what I've heard if you turn off auto scene detect it will have less blur. Don't have the phone yet to try.
@@terriblesarcasm no, I tried every combination (at least on S23U, and it looks like things are pretty much the same on S24 series) and nothing helps. Moving subject, especially in anything but direct sunlight - you get picture that's blurry unusable mess.
Will be patched any day now. Just can't remember the date. It's a brand new phone, some ironing out is to be expected.
@@LuciferReincarnate I've been using Samsung flagships for 7 years now, and it's the same "we'll fix it with updates" (that actually never happens) story all over again, year after year. The same camera problems are present on every model, if they wanted to fix it, they would have done it by now. It's not like Samsung is some starter company, without resources, time and customer feedback, to iron everything out before device is presented. Half baked phones should not be acceptable in this price range ! (unless users enjoy paying for premium device and then waiting for updates that will magically fix everything)
wrth it since u get on average better pics than u do with any iphone
I already preoreded the OnePlus 12, but I am really impressed with what Samsung brought to the table for 2024 as far as hardware goes. A lot of complaints seemed to be addressed. Flat display for ease of use with S-Pen, incredibly fast shutter speeds, and that non-reflective display really sets it apart from competition. If they can get 60W+ charging crammed into a later model I am sold.
Eh, I guess. The oppo find x7 pro is the way I'm going.

Great review, I traded my 23 ultra in for it. The only thing I wish they would change is bring back the old gestures for the nav bar ,the new ones don't work as well . I prefer the flat display ,now it's a true note phone. As I recall , the 23 ultra needed a camera update to fix a few issues .
I would almost trade my S23U in for the S24U just for the flat screen. With the flat screen you can actually get awesome glass screen protectors rather than what we've had to put up w over the years due to these curved edges.
@Al-Gore-ithm I totally agree, I got an LK tempered glass one for mine, went on with no bubbles , better than the rip off Whitestone dome.flat screen is better for the S pen too.
Fun fact. Remember the last 4 notes were actually curved , the last real Flat screen note series phone was the note 5 in 2015.
@dannybishop68 II didn't like it when they started using the curved screen ,especially the first ones ,they had a bigger curve .
@@sparx2391 yes the curve on the recent S23 Ultra wasnt nearly as curved as older samsung devices. After the S and Note 20s i noticed less curves.
Thanks for being (for now) the only one to point to that shutter lag problem that's been present for years now. Should not be acceptable (others say it's "almost not noticeable")
that can be fixed with a good lock module entitled camera assist. though of course, most folks will not know that. 😊
@@TrentonMatthews, no it can't. Camera Assistant is not the answer, because you need to sacrifice quality for example. Pixel and iPhone are doing it straight out of the box without 3rd party apps. But as a father of two little ones, I must say that it struggles whilst my Pixel 8 Pro I can always rely on. Maybe new update will fix it. I really hope it does.

Re smooth fast operation of the S24 vs. the iPhone Boot loop. The iPhone had a condition that allowed it to overheat, how this is possible in the first place tells me they aren't as effective as Samsung with their vapor chamber which is also how I think they're getting this really astonishing S23 battery life. The battery isn't getting bigger but the heat dissipation has been improving comprehensively from S22 fo the present. And if you've looked at the tear downs of the full galaxy range you seen they all have significantly improved heat pipes or vapor chambers.
Albeit its software related... I can't stand the voice to text dictation with IOS. Not only does it stutter and lag, its absolutely terrible in general. Then there is the occasion keyboard lag and terrible auto correct. Amazing how the software experience with IOS has regressed. I am glad however with iOS update 17.3 there is now a Black History Month wallpaper-That was the only thing listed with the update notification. I support all walks of life but found that rather odd, IMHO.

I've been really surprised with the battery life. Today I actually fell asleep, worke up with 60%, used it casually, watched a few YT videos and at 10PM I'm still at 24 %! Compared to S22U, although used, that's mindblowing. I don't know if it's the Snapdragon vs Exynos difference, but holy. Also I really like the flat display. I've used S6 Edge, S10+, S22U and I can't explain why but the flat display somehow feels right and nicer. Maybe it's also because there wasn't really a use for the curved display ever since S6 Edge and its option to have edges light up with certain color when a specific person calls. And the anti-reflective, bright screen... like wow.

About opening and closing apps. you can go into developer settings (samsung) and set the "animation" to just 0.5 or 0.25 sec, and then your apps "seem" like they Load a lot faster. - you can also remove animation completely, which makes apps open almost instantaneous
I don't care who has the best camera or scores the best in stupid benchmarks. Every flagship smartphone takes super pictures and video's. 97% of all smartphone users don't even see the differences. Every flaship is blazing fast.

On all these aspects the S24 Ultra is destroying the iphone 15 PM big time. So why keep people buying these antiquated, restricted and very very limited iphones?

Eh... used to be a hardcore screen protector user too.. Stopped when the S7 Edge came out, because I wasn't doing the gluing thing and decided to just run naked and see what happens. Turns out nothing happened. Have never cracked a screen over all those years and many devices. Never got a scratch that was noticeable or was an issue.
@@jamesg8246 I haven't been so lucky. I always rocked the Whitestone Dome Glass or similar and otterbox defender case and have cracked like 3, maybe 4 screens. And the crack always happens on the curved area that sticks out like a sore thumb. Great video. I just got the S24 Ultra and I can’t decide whether to keep it or not. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and have had mainly iPhones in the past. I like the design of the S24, but I think some elements of Android are inferior to iOS eg the messaging app, the email clients, the no secure Face ID, App Store, generally not as intuitive, Android Auto needs a cable in my car. To my eye the photos don’t look any better. I miss Find My and AirTags and the sound quality of the speaker and ringtones etc are better on iPhone. It’s looking like I’ll send the S24 back…

😮oh man. Wish I could get one.
I normally HATE Samsung's cameras after watching a few new videos today I'm seriously LOVING them Bravo Samsung ❤
I just received mine S24 Ultra today, and on top of the super washed out colors, the contrast is horrible. In the color palette if you choose the basic colors and then the green over teal, when you apply that palette and go to the previous screen, the colors become indistinguishable from each other, while on my S23 Ultra, the colors are vivid, vibrantly saturated, and perfectly defined. If this is just a software issue, I'll wait a few days to see if Samsung acknowledges the problem and fix it via software update, but if they don't, I will be returning this phone and will keep my S23 Ultra which has no color issues at all.
If you go to Settings - Display- Screen Mode. You could switch it to Vivid, if it isn't already selected.
@@Msalazar20100 I've owned the S23 Ultra for almost a year, I am very familiar with the settings and options, so obviously that's the very first thing I did. I think that anyone coming from some other phone brand, or a much older iteration, will not see this, but if you can hold both phones in your hand, the S23U and the S24U, and make a comparison, the huge difference is undeniable.
I have the same problem. Very disappointed.
might be due to the "anti-reflection" coating on the screen that kills reflections...but also kills some color...so its likely a hardware issue in terms of the screen layer. Im just guessing though, i dont know if the S23 has the same anti glare thing that the S24 has. I just saw it mentioned in a few reviews.
@@edamameme1789 I don't think it is hardware related for the sake of Samsung, as some video content with HDR show better colors and brilliance than others, if it was hardware related, there wouldn't be any instances of improvement as the display can simply not reproduce what it doesn't have. I believe this was some stupid attempt on Samsung's side to make the hardware consume a little less energy, and then claim that the battery life is also improved in their new iteration of phones. Samsung does this all the time, they handicap their hardware via software, to make improvement claims in this case, or in the case of their OLED TV's, they dimm the image after a few seconds to avoid pixels burning the image in. I know cause I also own their OLED TV. That's why when they advertise their OLED TV's, they claim that the TV will never have burn in images, and it's not because their technology got better, it is because they just dimm the image via software to avoid just that.
Great review, especially on the battery 👌🏼
So now after watching your video i am on the fence. Do i get a new ultra or left over new 23. Hmmm??
Samsung only did one thing that the people asked for, which was to make the ultra with a flat screen, but didn't make the selfie camera hidden under the display along with making the screen a 144hz refresh rate and giving it a 16 gig ram. I mean, even the s21 ultra came with 16 gig ram and were in 2024 it should DEFINITELY automatically come with a 16 gig ram. They also are going backward in charging capabilities. It should come with 65w fast charging automatically. For the price, it's just unnecessary.
What u going to do with a 16gb ram it the phone already has RAM plus?? Plus 12gb ram hands the phone pretty well.

For example, an HDD might offer 500 GB of raw capacity but is currently storing only 200 GB of data. So, you seem to be lacking in intelligence.

When you’re comparing the milliseconds that apps load in, does it really make a difference?
I was all set to get the s24 ultra until I heard you say they don't have 10x zoom .. I love to take far away pictures so I'm not sure it would work for me. What do you think?
100% impressed with this review , new sub as of this posting
Just got my S24 ultra yesterday ...Other than going through all the setup on it, which was actually fairly easy, I havent found any issues with it other than a different feel from the Z3 fold I had and having to touch the screen for finger biometrics .. It however, will not unlock by facial recognition if I dont have my hat on now lol
Where did you get that wallpaper in the promo image?
What is the processor on the s24ultra sold in UK? It's hard to find any info as all the reviewers are comparing Snapdragon version
Snapdragon
did you have any signal problems with mobile data and reception?
What apple watch metal band are you using? It look really good ..
Nice review lad...was hoping that shutter lag had approved
Can you please tell me at what screen Resolution you were using the Phone?
Does the S24U finally record video at a constant frame rate? From the perspective of anyone planning to use it for filmmaking, the lack of a constant frame rate in video recording could be a deal breaker for switching from the iPhone to Samsung (or any other high-end Android phone, really).
Best comparison I have seen so far. Thanks!
As someone else stated, barney is a subscriber magnet! Subscribing!! (Barney is adorable)
Hey my friend long time subscriber first time to comment, I love your videos you keep things very simple in how you describe the detail of a phone, iam a bit of lazy Todd as well, good job my friend. Thanks your friendly neighborhood Hotel Doorman william from NYC forgettaboutit 👊 ✌️ 😀 🙏✨️✨️
So using your iPhone the same way, what would your battery be at the end of the night before going back on charge?
Always a little dubious when a TH-cam says “i’ve used this for …. as my daily” whilst still wearing your apple watch in the video???
Omg Barney, adorable!! He is subscriber magnet! Enjoy you two!
Thanks for testing the Snapdragon version, considering the UK actually has to tolerate the samsung Exynos chipset for the same pricepoint might I add!.. I wonder why they shipped you a Snapdragon version?
The ultra is snapdragon in the UK. It's the s24 and plus that are exynos again.
Where did you find that Wallpaper. It's SO DOPE.❤
I love your dog man. Its so adorable
Thank you so much, I pick up my S24 Ultra tomorrow, Wednesday! ❤💯✔️
I glanced at your thumbnail and for a moment I thought it was Rafa Nadal!
ngl your puppy made me subscribe. love your video and lockscreen too
Do you prefer Pro camera mode over regular cameras cause 50Mp, 200Mp, portrait modes keeps brightening the pic..and alters colours for indoors (or more so I side n lowlight)
12Mp takes photos as previewed ie no intelligent Optimisation and scene optimiser.
Why can't we toggle and minimum these picture altering effects. On my S22 Ultra I could take pics as previewed...
It seems hdr effects is applied to the stills (non 12Mp pics) regardless even if colours are unnatural.
Best comment and remark I've read in this thread and elsewhere regarding the new S24 Ultra! Unnatural pics: altered colours, yellowish white balance, overly bright. That's why I'm seriously considering an S23 Ultra instead...
Best Samsung I ever had for design ?? My note 4............currently on my Note9 still, just upgraded to a 1tb S24 Ultra and it feels design wise to be returning home to a past favourite, the Note 4, I hate the bevels on my Note9, always have !
Does "burst mode" not work on the Ultra ??
I am literally upgrading from Note 9 to this 24 Ultra... I guess a Good Win for Me at this point.
@@onyekaanazodo1458 The Note9 has been a solid phone with a great camera, it is only just starting to feel a little old against the latest and greatest I think ? My wife shops the other side, and she is in that 2 year upgrade loop, every new iPhone Max she gets I compare, and it never seems that far away to make it worthwhile upgrading.
More than anything else the 24 Ultra design language is what spoke to me most and grabbed my attention, for the above reasons, the cam and AI and other features for me are just icing on the cake now :D
Perhaps the protruding S-Pen is to accommodate a phone case? Maybe it’s easier to access the pen when a case is on the phone?
Have you never heard of burst shot? On the 24 ultra just move your finger over the take pic button. ( left and right) it takes very quick pictures.
