Thank you for addressing these issues. Im a father to a 3 year old daughter and it's really helpful to hear from Catholic women talk about these topics. Praying that more women would reflect and find inspiration from Mother Mary on what true feminism is. Ave Maria!
As a later in life virgin, I thought sexualizing myself in appearance would get me a boyfriend faster, it was the most depressing years of my life, the real me lives the life of a nun. Because society is so sexualized, I felt like people would make fun of me for being prudish, I only ever had a sip of alcohol and I never went clubbing in my life. Growing up as a younger millennial, my peers were obsessed with clubbing and drinking ever weekend, where I felt like a loser if I did not dress slutty or drink. I think so much of society pressures make women think that dressing immodest is the only way to be attractive, now I dress cottage core or vintage and I honestly feel like my true self.
This is so amazing to read. I firmly believe whoever God has for you will truly be blessed. Living in alignment with God and ones convictions can really be so peaceful.
Loved this conversation. I began feeling really uncomfortable in a bikini when I would be at the beach with my dad or in-laws, particularly after having my daughter. It just felt so sexual and uncomfortable. But I felt like I just couldn’t wear a one piece because it was too frumpy and prude. I felt equally uncomfortable with all my shirts that showed cleavage. I finally gave up my bikinis last year and have felt SO much better. It’s hard to find some that aren’t overly sexualized, as well. Also switched to more modest clothing, too.
Your boobs are out in your profile picture. Granted it looks as though you’re breastfeeding, but how is it any different when it related to men looking at you in a provocative way? No hate. Just pointing that out.
That one was my favorite. Too bad the franchise in general is shadow of the family friendly values that once made it great. Putting in LGBT characters ruined it. I’ll always cherish what it was but it is today, I want it to fail hard.
I saw your video many years ago as a young 20 something woman. I was struck by how nice you look but how modestly you were dressed. I now have 3 soon to be 4 daughters and God has definitely put it on my heart to teach them to dress modestly. I don’t think it does any favors to the cause of modesty to be frumpy. Thank you for your modest swimsuits and clothes. Very inspiring. ❤️
Okay WOW! Your miracles related to your babies (their due dates and those stories attached) DID make me say, WOW!! I am SHOCKED. I’m not a practicing Catholic. I’m a Protestant. But that got me thinking, WOW.
I'd like to share an experience. I made a comment on a video about how inappropriate it was for grown men/adults to be hardly dressed in front of children at pride parade. Someone actually responded and said that there was no problem and noted how women wear bikinis in front of children at the beach. Thankfully, I was able to respond and say that I do not and I don't allow my children around anyone dressed inappropriately (which is true/in so much as possible), but I could see how many Christians could not respond. Modesty is important and Biblical❤.
Wow. I was told I could never get pregnant on my own either. I just had a procedure to see how blocked my tubes were (and they were 100% blocked) and a few weeks later I was pregnant! I was waiting for my period too. I remember actually googling if that procedure can cause a period to be delayed. I now have 3 earthside babies and 2 in heaven. I’m going to be 38 but have been feeling the call to have more children; every month I get my cycle I feel so sad over and over again. I think I’ve forgotten the fact that I was never “supposed” to get pregnant in the first place!
Immodesty ruined my life. It can alter your whole life on a downward trajectory. As a youth, I felt so insecure in swimsuits but still wore them to fit in. It only exasperated a crippling low self esteem. It also invited unhealthy attention and led to promiscuous behavior. The repercussions extend far beyond our imagining and can last a lifetime. Small indecencies lead to major mistakes.
It truly is a never ending rabbit hole unless Jesus brings you out, i pursued immodesty because I was always rejected in school especially by boys in middle and high school, I was the baby looking one I wasn’t developed and even today almost 30 people still assume I’m well over a decade younger and my petite slender frame adds to it, I was so insecure about it because I was wanting attention from boys I wanted to be pretty even sexy to them but I was literally little string bean. So when I became of age I developed some and used my body in a promiscuous way to gain validation in all the wrong ways….I hate who I was before Jesus. I had no idea what love was nor true innocence…unfortunately recently I still fell in that trap because I wanted my body to keep my husband fixated on me. My body is meant for Jesus. Our worth is in Christ not a man even our husbands. It’s a sanctification but it’s freedom! Our beauty is inward and our outer while fleeting should still be for God. My soul is at peace with Him❤
as an atheist i just fell in love with lila she is so calm and rational and is respectful to people who disagree with her and tries to persuade them with love and logic not by being judgmental and mean and shaming them unlike so many other trad people she is a good role model for women and she is far more inspiring for me than lots of feminist
His name was Jose) that was definitely Joseph that took you to the prayer and pasta. Don’t know if you know but on Joseph date March 19 there’s this tradition called the Joseph table in which they throw all type of pastas in on top of the table. yeah that was definitely Joseph that took you to this prayer and past another great miracle story
Grace Kelly may be one of the most beautiful women to grace U.S. 🇺🇸 on the big screen, but you Lila and Jessica Rey are two of the most beautiful women to grace us on our small screens!
This is a wonderful video! Jessica is someone we need to have talk at our parish! What a great role model for standing up for her beliefs and making a positive impact in the world. Men's modesty is something we need people to talk about - it exists, and many men (myself included unfortunately in the past) pushed the envelope on modesty and tried to objectify themselves as well. Again thanks for the great content Lila!
My husband has a good saying when it comes to women and modesty. If you are dressed immodestly, it will make good men who do not want to objectify you uncomfortable. If they want to keep clean thoughts about the women in their lives then that is just simply harder to do around women who wear almost no clothing. So those men will avoid you. The kind of men that will stay around you and feel comfortable around Basically naked women are typically the guys who want to look at naked women. Obviously there will be people who are exceptions to this role, but even I, as a woman can get distracted when another woman is showing too much skin, so I can’t imagine what it would be like for a man who is much more visually stimulated by that kind of stuff…
I think it's an *excellent* way to put it! Thank you for sharing that! I personally don't like the rhetoric of putting excessive blame on women for enticing men - it's a common rhetoric in some circles and I find it quite annoying. But the way you/your husband said it is perfect because it puts at in a right perspective, and is framed in a positive way.
Personally, I just don't understand the bikini trend. To me, it doesn't seem much different than hanging out in your underwear. What is even worse, though, is people who go to a pool to just sit there instead of swimming laps. What is the point? (Totally serious and totally not a joke)
The problem is majority of self proclaimed feminists understand but deliberately misinterpreted the whole point by using woke words like " controlling" , " patriarchal oppression" , " what about shirtless men ? " Bs to the point men can't even have honest conversations Men's sexual stimulus is visual The whole fashion industry know this fact. In order to build the fake empowerment bs they used feminism as a scapegoat from yrs. They did it for the sale of cigarettes even though according to medical science, smoking is more harmful for women's body in comparison of men's body 😂 Men don't want the women ( who they respects ) to be the part of others men's sexual imagination. It's not about control , it's about honour of the relationship The deep cleavage feminism is nothing but fashion industry strategy
Fascinating discussion 🙏 I struggled with weight for years and avoided bikinis altogether and just stuck to basic one piece swimwear. I just noticed lately that many bikinis now are borderline lingerie
@@joane24 Good point. Especially those swimsuits/ bikinis that are high cut, and with a thong back. I'm not a total "prude" I just feel it's TOO revealing..
I was so encouraged by your Talk, Jessica, over a decade ago and remembering it still inspires me. You are an encouragement to us to stand for what we believe in and respect ourselves and our own standards. The more confident you are in your convictions, the more it demands respect of others.
Great video Lila! This came at the perfect time. We’re going back home to the OC next week with my little babies and going to be doing lots of beach activities but I don’t feel comfortable wearing a two piece anymore. This morning I was looking up modest swimsuits and then this video popped up!! ❤
Glory to God! Awesome job 👍 it’s important to keep cultivating a sense of modesty even in young children and explaining to them as they mature why it’s important. so that as they grow older they will be better guarded from lusts of this world. Immaculate Mary, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of death. Amen
As a man, I’ve seen women in short tight dresses, at like bars, and clubs, and places like that, out with friends, at the gym, obviously see the Instagram, fitness influencer style clothes, that girls wear, but going to the beach, and seeing women in bikinis, that definitely makes me feel something, not to mention I think all of these are immodest, but it’s just the bikini that makes me feel some type of way
Wow what a beautiful interview with two beautiful women. You both are so inspiring and a breath of fresh air and are giving me hope of what the world has to offer as a Catholic woman. I always felt like I had to hide that part of my life and I never imagined that there are so many women who have created careers that are woven into our faith. I wish I knew this growing up and thinking that the secular world was all there was to choose from. I hope to one day find a job that will be so closely intertwined with my faith. Loved hearing about the miraculous pregnancies that Jessica shared and seeing yet again how God has a plan for everyone in every situation of life 🙏🏼. I love how serious yet humorous her life encounters were and these podcasts have given me joy and make me appreciate how God is working through all of us. God bless and keep up the great work Lila. Grateful to be watching your podcasts that are full of hope, knowledge and truly enlightening 🙏🏼
Good day, Lila and everybody! I've never seen Power Rangers but, like many fictional characters that I didn't know their story, I drew them as a kid and developed my own stories for them! Looking forward to hearing Jessica Rey's story, reflecting on why modesty is the best policy! Thank you for uplifting hearts/passions, and as a result, our minds/intellect to grasp at the good and use our gift of free will, our capability to direct ourselves to the true good! Hope you and yours have a light-filled peaceful joyful True Good and Beautiful Happy Freedom Faith-over-Fear Family Friday! =)
"Style is a way of saying who you are without having to speak." This comment validated a particular suffering I felt when I had my first baby, a high needs child, during covid-19 and was unable to shop for clothes that fit my post-pregnancy body. Because of family needs preventing shopping, my wardrobe continued to be inadequate for several years, consisting of hand-me-downs in the wrong colors, wrong sizes, wrong cuts. I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable on a daily basis. When I shared this suffering with my fellow Catholic women for some words of sympathy and compassion, I was told "it's not what's important." It is only now I am finally able to try and build a wardrobe where I can feel proud of presenting myself (and my new larger body) in those clothes. Thank you for validating and giving voice to that God-given feminine instinct to present oneself well to others.
Love Jessica Rey! ❤ so thankful for your company! I hope you have more to come with tween/teen fashion! Modest emagazine??? Can't wait to see what's in-store for your company!
I created my own combination of swimwear. I live in south Florida, so you need at least 3 suits. I bought tankini tops that are full cleavage coverage and separately bought swim skirts to mix and match with the tops. I feel so great at the beach or pool because I can bend, swim, float, dive, and not worry about anything falling off or flipping up. I notice some people are observing my swimwear as if perplexed that I'm that covered up in this Caribbean heat. 😂
I’m so used to people asking me why I wear clothes in the pool. :) Doesn’t bother me at all, and I’m very comfortable. I actually wear a real bikini under my swim clothes and then wear an under armor type shirt and a water resistant skirt. I can swim and keep to my convictions that I have liberty for.
I legit had goosebumps at the 6’20” part already and THEN the very next second she says, “…it makes their hair stand up,” as if to further confirm was even necessary, yet it certainly made the point.
Lila , you are such a beautiful person and an angel . I love watching your videos . They’re very educational and you teach me a lot ! I have been going through a lot of trauma lately and you’re helping me get through it. Also I think it’s beautiful how you treat disabled people like me (I’m autistic, I’m an ADHDer(someone with ADHD) , a dyslexic and have other learning disabilities, along with mental and physical health issues ). It made me so happy when you strongly disapproved of and were disgusted by what people said about autistic children and children with down syndrome. I know some autistic people would be mad at you for saying “person with autism “ instead of autistic, but really they’re just policing language and trying to control people. It is just what leftists do. They’re all about control . Personally, I don’t mind either one as long as you’re a kind person and you’re strongly advocating for disabled people! Identity first is just my favorite though , but you don’t have to use it for me though if you don’t want to :)
About time Christians talk about this! I've been having these thoughts for years but haven't found likewise Christian women who care to listen or take this stuff seriously with me! Such a breath of fresh air to hear this podcast. And encouraging.
I'm not entirely sure why so many men responded to her speech with shame, because, as a man, I can easily say that we have known forever-and-a-half, that men seeing scantily clad, beautiful women makes our other brain take over control. Also, intellectuals, always rediscovering something everyone has known since time immemorial.
Modesty Matters! Agreed that Jessica is awesome! Lila this is one of my favorite episodes ever! I messed up in the chat writing "less is more" because, right before I wrote that, you showed Jessica Rey's beautiful speech about encouraging against the "less is more" philosophy regarding bikinis and I agree with her! I meant "less is more" for modesty metaphorically, not literally when it comes to modest swimwear! I'm sure many think that literally when it comes to me rambling! =) I don't know if this might be helpful to think about regards to modesty but along with thinking about how literally "less is more" isn't helpful for modest dress and the notion of looking for love in all the wrong places, hope these are helpful! "Occupy your mind with good thoughts, or the enemy will fill them with bad ones." - St. Thomas Moore. "The things we love tell us what we are." -Saint Thomas Aquinas Luke 6:43-44 “A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not pick figs from thornbushes, nor do they gather grapes from brambles. Romans 12:2 Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect. Prayed for you Lila, Jessica, and everybody here, and your families in my Rosary this morning! Please bring her back! Jessica Rey is one of my favorite guests now! Thank you for being a light in the world, Lila!
Ha! I was wondering the same about "demure" being a trendy word lately. A friend of mine said I was demure and then all of a sudden I was hearing the word everywhere! I had to look it up also lol! This was a great talk! A very interesting tale of the road to success and modesty! Now going to find her original bikini talk!!!
Where are you my Gen Zers if you got saved by the gospel. I would love to hear your testimony because I got saved on my 17th birthday, I used to did bad things before I got saved.
I love the subject of modesty! A mindset of modesty is healthy for society, even if modesty looks different to different people. I am an advocate for anyone who promotes modesty 👏🏻
Wow that story about your sweet children made me cry. God is so good ! ❤ I think that was a great point about if we are temples of the Holy Spirit, how should we approach modesty. I’ve often thought people are generally careful around priests let’s say. I don’t think most women would think it appropriate to wear a bikini in front of a priest. But why ? Or if our Blessed Mother appeared to us, would we feel modest wearing one. No we wouldn’t. Again, why? People are so careful to wear certain things in front of the Royal family, how much more should we be careful how we dress around others as well.
Speaking of women wearing pants, when I entered a Catholic college in 1968, it had recently gone coed, and a big controversy was whether the newly admitted women were to only wear dresses or skirts, rather than pants. Eventually, pants and slacks won. Although you were free to wear dresses too. The women, that is.
I disagree, it used to be super hard to find modest swimwear but nowadays there are many options, for little girls you can do swimming shorts and a rash guard
As a teen in the early 2000s I would be one of the only ones on the beach not wearing a bikini. I’m so glad it’s easier to find modest swimwear now, I think mostly because people are more aware of protecting their skin from the sun, but I’ll take it!
It’s nice to see another Hollywood actress find their way back to God. I never thought Jessica Rey would be bold enough to go on Lila Rose’s podcast considering how pro-life and conservative she is. This is a joyous occurrence. As a nondenominational Christian, I support all born again’s walk with Christ, no matter the denomination. If the Power Rangers franchise would hire more actors and writers like her, it wouldn’t be a shadow of its former glory. I’ll always cherish what the show was but the woke LGBT abomination it is today needs to die.
There’s been a lot of discussion about the swimsuits, but I love the beginning part where you were discussing trying to have a baby and you had miscarriages. I have asked before for Lila to please have a show regarding people dealing with miscarriages, and then how miracles have happened so many of the times. That means much more interesting than the size of a bikini thank you.
The issue with the study mentioned by Jessica is: the scantily clad women were shown without faces. so the conclusion of men not connecting with them as humans is a bit flawed. For the rest, I agree with everything that she says.
Jessica, your voice is actually so beautiful! I can totally see you doing radio! I like Sophia Richie style. It’s not always “modest” but i think it’s nice!
As an orthodox Christian, i didn't wear bikinis for years. Lately i started wearing bikinis, as they are more easy to use (when needing to go to wc or not to have my belly cold) but i have modest bikinis, not the ones hardly covering the parts
As a man, may I just reaffirm that modesty is for us too. I feel very strongly about this. This is why I do not go jogging without a shirt, for example. Not that I’m particularly worth looking at, but that I do not want to provide the opportunity for someone else to have an immodest glance. Gym culture needs serious reforming too-and I also mean this for men. The peacocking element is often very immodest, both in terms of hymn clothes, and heart posture.
Any bathing suit is immodest. Can you imagine the Virgin Mary appearing in a bathing suit? She needs to consecrate herself to Our Lady, she seems like a lovely person. Why is this seminarian going to parties like this? He tells people he doesn’t know that he’s a virgin, this is all very strange.
How do you think some religious sisters dress when they go the local swimming pool? (yes, some are permitted to, depends on the community and a superior... it's rare but sometimes happens). Some priests also may go swimming. Most people wouldn't even know, because they (both groups) typically would wear civil clothes to go the swimming pool, to avoid access interest. And no, they're not wearing 'burkinis'. (obviously, no bikini either, just a plain one piece, speaking for women).
As for the seminarian, I can only imagine how that conversation may go: probably the girls have been bugging him if he had any girlfriends or something like that, to which he might have indirectly answer trying to shut down the conversation, after which the girls would loudly discuss among themselves how unusual it is to not have such kind of experience. As I said, only speculation, but most likely scenario of how it went. Btw you might be scandalized what personal questions some people (secular people who are away from the church) may directly ask the priest or the seminarian (eg in the context of a street ministry outreach, or various others similar situations with people who are not used to the church culture or some would be even hostile towards it). I've seen that, so it doesn't surprise me that some people curiously and inappropriately inquire about such things. I've heard my share of such questions too.
Well, actually, there are bathing suits that are modest: they sell longer swim tops & skirts that go down to the knee made out of waterproofing fabric. Let us pray for her then! so that she can continue to receive grace through the Blessed Lady from Jesus 💛 she is attempting to do a good thing, let’s pray that the she is continued to be guided by grace As for the seminarian, it’s hard to say because we don’t have the full context and we didn’t get a chance to hear his side of the story. Sometimes, we find ourselves amongst people of the world, sometimes it’s unavoidable…but we have to remain being the light of Christ. Let us pray for seminarians that have to live in secular society 🙏
Beautiful! And really helpful when we as women speak to this virtue! I love your styles. I think the fit and flare is SO classy! I’ve found it is great when not wet, but when actually swimming, it floats up and just becomes a tankini. Could you make a style that’s similar to a pencil skirt, but functional?
No need to sugarcoat on that one, there is no such thing as a modest bikini 😂 modest swimsuit, yes. but bikini, no. god bless us all. Thanks for the neat video!
Many sports require revealing, form-fitting attire, not just swimming and other aquatic sports (diving, water polo, artistic swimming, etc.) but gymnastics, track and field, beach volleyball, beach handball, and others. What should women who compete in these sports wear if they want to maximize performance?
I think I am one of the exeption. When there is a warm breeze I easily get dry on a bikinis. For me its just pure practicality. Living in Spain and seeing half naked bodies all the time. I used to it and dont think too much of it. However i hate that all bikinis are TOO short, also to hate that not so many beaches offer changing room. That also unpractical for me. 😅 Other than that I am completely agree on that how many girl women able to wear way too revealing dresses 😢
Amazing miracles Gave me chills… I heard you refer to yourself as an actress. How come lately I never hear a female saying that. Every female that I’ve heard that does this type of thing calls herself an actor. When did that start and why? Even all the people in The Chosen that are females call themselves actors. And by the way, you remind me of the lady who plays Mary Magdalene. You have a pretty voice like her and you look similar. Great story!
I swim regularly, in public city pools, in pools on a university campus, and at a private health club. I have been a member of a Master's swim organization. Many women wear bikinis while swimming. Many women wear bikinis at the pools at the condominium complex where I live. These are not just young women, but women over the age of 60. What could be wrong with that? I am a man who wears a Speedo-style swim briefs while swimming, even though I am not in the best of physical shape and I have never been a competitive swimmer. However, I enjoy swimming and I live in a warm climate where most swimming pools are outdoors and it is practical to swim outdoors during most of the year. Competitive swimming, or swimming for intense exercise, requires the wearing of minimal and form-fitting attire. Wearing a dress or heavy, baggy clothing is not practical, especially if one wants to maximize performance.
A Muslim woman invented the "burkini" - it looked like a long-sleeved, full leg diving suit with head covering. It looked really good and protective against UV rays...and modest, too. But it didnt really takr off because my friend (who's a Muslim) said it was heavy to wear. Maybe it can be improved.
It is greatly offend to Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ if dress immodesty because it caused your brother, sister or you yourself to fall into mortal sin. Nor do you want to hurt your brother or sister or Lord God. You do not want your brother or sister in mortal sin nor do you want yourself in mortal sin, as mortal sin is our greatest enemy and ultimately the only thing capable of separating us from eternal life. Immodesty in dress can lead to the loss of immortal souls, and if gravely offensive, is a mortal sin for the wearer and occasion of sin for the beholder of immodest fashions. Sins caused by immodest fashions send to hell, or at least make worthy of hell’s fire, the souls of many of those exposed to these fashions. “I pray ... for them whom Thou hast given Me: because they are Thine ...Those whom Thou gavest Me have I kept: and none of them is lost ...” (Jn. 17:9,12). In Fatima, modesty was very much stressed by the Blessed Virgin Mary because She also told us in the Fatima Message: “more souls go to hell for sins of the flesh than any other reason.” Padre Pio refused time and again to absolve any woman, no matter how important she was, who did not wear her skirts at least 8 inches below the knee. He also insisted that they do not wear slacks. Yet this traditional guideline, due to ignorance, prejudice, enslavement to vanity or passion, has been combated so much in contemporary times. The Magisterium of the Catholic Church issued statements on modesty in 1930, 1954 and 1957 but since then has kept silent because people no longer listen. God allows us to be punished by the silence of the Magisterium today for the sins of not obeying the Magisterium when it spoke up. This is similar to the way God responded to the hardness of the hearts of the people in the Old Testament. As punishment, God did not send prophets for four hundred years after the Jews had killed and rejected many of the prophets He had already sent. A short number of years ago, even two Catholic bishops came down on the wrong side of this issue. In 1979 they felt compelled to persecute The Fatima Crusader for publishing this material (our leaflet now 30 years in circulation: LF005 The Marylike Standards for Modesty in Dress). One of these bishops, several years later and just before his death, seemed more disposed to hear the truth. Thus we hope you will understand why today many priests do not want to talk about this subject. However Our Lady of Fatima compels us, for the salvation of souls, to explain the matter more fully.
If anyone wants advice on what to wear to the beach I would say to wear a one piece swimsuit with a pareo on top that covers the buttocks and legs because just a swimsuit, you can often see your buttocks anyway, and if we wouldn't wear this in the street we shouldn't wear this in front of people at the beach God bless you
I love the swimsuits Ms Rey has on her site. Personally though I don't see myself going anywhere like a beach or pool cause of past betrayal/spouse lust addiction. Maybe if we one day own a pool 😊
Interesting interview, but I just can't get beyond that it was a Pope with authority that said, “A dress cannot be called decent which is cut deeper than two fingers breadth under the pit of the throat; which does not cover the arms at least to the elbows; and scarcely reaches a bit beyond the knees. Furthermore, dresses of transparent materials are improper.” (The Cardinal Vicar of Pope Pius XI). I believe Moral Theology says that the hands, feet, and face are the only areas to be seen by the public; the arms, legs, chest, and back are semi-public which is why I suppose Pope Pius XI put guidelines on those areas. The rest are "private" areas and are meant to stay that way. Situational ethics has no absolute moral standard, so that is a slippery slope and why we are in this pickle with modesty and people choosing to cover themselves or not.
Thank you for this episode, i came from Indonesia-Chinese descent, but my first idenity is a child of God. The western culture, is not always as liberal as now where clothing is required less and less fabric😂
I think that Jose guy might have been St. Joseph, just saying. I've heard of stories where St. Joseph appears and helps people out and no one ever sees him again, so, it might've been him
Kate Middleton dresses very modest. She does NOT wear spagetti straps or low necklines or even pants except horseback riding. So she is a good example of elegance when modest. Our Lady of Fatima said that when men and women dressed alike is when the time of sin would be most prevalent. The most immodest weat now is yoga pants as so tight you can see cellulite.
Many say Catholics are fake Christians and the Suits aren't Modest enough but at least you tried. Dressing Modestly does no good when you go to places where others are not. Laws need to be made. No one should see anyone else from the knee to the neck that is not their spouse. Period.
I only buy Victoria’s Secret full coverage or perfect coverage! Changed my life. Also, it was so helpful for me when I got properly measured. I’m extremely particular about my underwear outlines not being seen through my clothes and buying from VS has made it so much easier. (I’m not overweight and I have curves.) I have their credit card and only shop with discounts and usually end up paying $20-$30 each.
I don't wear super revealing clothing, but at the same time I enjoy feeling sexy and wearing attractive clothing. Also my husband complains when I dress too frumpy. Why do I feel like when I hop into baggy clothes that something sort of dies inside of me? It seems like the idea of modesty is that I have to hide away because I can't be seen because I'm some sort of danger to weak men. Also, it seems like most men probably would even bother to look at me anyway since they can watch all the porn they want at a moment's notice, so what's the point? Again, I don't dress in super revealing clothing, but I don't really understand why anyone would want to hide away either. Also for reference I'm 37, 118 lbs, 5'0" and I wear a 1 piece bathing suit with swim shorts. I often wear yoga pants or sundresses. Lastly, when I dress up and put on some heels and do my makeup, I feel sexy and confident. When I troll around in loose, baggy clothes, I feel like a bum. It seems like most people's expectation of modesty means don't be sexy. I try to dress modestly, but overall I try to dress wisely, appropriately and that brings forward the greatest sense of dignity, and sometimes that means sexy.
Modest does not mean frumpy though, it doesn’t have to be that way, I dress modestly and ladies are always complementing my outfits, I don’t believe in hiding in a sack of potatoes kind of dress, I am blessed with a somewhat small waist even when I gain weight and my preference are fit and flare dresses, and I prefer to leave (sex)y outfits for the bedroom 🤷♀️
The Oxford Dictionary defines "sexy" as "sexually attractive or exciting" when applied to others or "sexually aroused" when applied to yourself. Therefore, by definition, "sexy" is referring to sexual lust. "Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness" (I Timothy 2:9-10). a woman should not dress to arouse sexual desire in other people (only her husband and only in the privacy of their relationship). While it is true that some will lust regardless of how a person dresses, it isn't proper for a Christian to encourage lustful thoughts in other people. Quoted ^^ As a woman, we were made to be beautiful, thanks be to God. You can dress modestly without looking frumpy and will still be seen as beautiful. I’m not sure if “sexy” is the right word to describe how we should want to dress or the right way to dress. It’s difficult because you’re married, so I understand that you want to be pleasing to your husband but there is a time and place for that, so maybe bring that consideration to him. And continue to look into ideas for modest fashion; you can dress modestly and still look nice & neat. I would encourage you to pray some more about this. ask the Holy Spirit and ask the Blessed Mother and St Joseph to guide you & your husband on this topic too 🙏

It's so stupid that Huggies and Pampers kills their costumers... That's a great way to keep the business.
Absolutely stunning talk Thanks for sharing this God bless 🙏
Thank you for addressing these issues. Im a father to a 3 year old daughter and it's really helpful to hear from Catholic women talk about these topics. Praying that more women would reflect and find inspiration from Mother Mary on what true feminism is. Ave Maria!
Femininity not feminism
Ave Maria! God bless!
Mother Mary was an elect chosen woman.
How sad I was when my sister-in-law dressed my sweet baby niece in a . . . bikini. The innocence of the innocent must be protected, too.
Dressing promiscuous will get you attention but not from the kind of men you want
This is so amazing to read. I firmly believe whoever God has for you will truly be blessed. Living in alignment with God and ones convictions can really be so peaceful.
Is this me? 😂 I feel this 💯!! Cottagecore and vintage style too!✨
Loved this conversation.
I used to listen to rap till i had daughters.
Your boobs are out in your profile picture. Granted it looks as though you’re breastfeeding, but how is it any different when it related to men looking at you in a provocative way? No hate. Just pointing that out.
Can’t believe the Power rangers I used to watch as a kid were Catholic! Wild Force was on my favorite shows.
But that got me thinking, WOW.
same here! absolutely incredible 🤍
Quit thinking and call a priest to start the process.
@@dmm3124 I actually love this comment!!
@@dmm3124preferably an orthodox one.
@@dmm3124 i definitely want to 🤍
I'd like to share an experience.
Thank you. I never how to explain this to my tiktok generation daughters
@@tenerds4569 ❤️
While it’s wrong with the bikinis most likely women are just bathing and minding their own lives and not wearing strap ons dancing around children.
Grace Kelly was pretty but had a reputation as a woman of many affairs with married men.
@@smugglednews7453 That's really sad if true. I didn't know anything about her. I thought she played in amazing Alfred Hitchcock movies.
Jessica is amazing inside and out! So glad you had her on the show!
Very true it’s uncomfortable to talk to someone who’s practically naked. It feels like you’re crossing the line just by looking at them!
The problem is majority of self proclaimed feminists understand but deliberately misinterpreted the whole point by using woke words like " controlling" , " patriarchal oppression" , " what about shirtless men ? " Bs to the point men can't even have honest conversations
Men's sexual stimulus is visual
The whole fashion industry know this fact. In order to build the fake empowerment bs they used feminism as a scapegoat from yrs. They did it for the sale of cigarettes even though according to medical science, smoking is more harmful for women's body in comparison of men's body 😂
Men don't want the women ( who they respects ) to be the part of others men's sexual imagination. It's not about control , it's about honour of the relationship
The deep cleavage feminism is nothing but fashion industry strategy
Fascinating discussion 🙏 I struggled with weight for years and avoided bikinis altogether and just stuck to basic one piece swimwear. I just noticed lately that many bikinis now are borderline lingerie
We're so glad you found it helpful. Thank you for tuning in! - LR Team
I think lingerie is less revealing than some of the contemporary bikinis.
@@joane24 Good point. Especially those swimsuits/ bikinis that are high cut, and with a thong back. I'm not a total "prude" I just feel it's TOO revealing..
I had a teary eye watching this because we have a similar story. I am still working on my brand selling feminine clothes to fully modest clothing.
Ok those pregnancy miracle stories got me crying 😭 praise God 💙
I was so encouraged by your Talk, Jessica, over a decade ago and remembering it still inspires me. You are an encouragement to us to stand for what we believe in and respect ourselves and our own standards. The more confident you are in your convictions, the more it demands respect of others.
Great video Lila! This came at the perfect time. We’re going back home to the OC next week with my little babies and going to be doing lots of beach activities but I don’t feel comfortable wearing a two piece anymore. This morning I was looking up modest swimsuits and then this video popped up!! ❤
This is a cool topic to explore! Thank you so much for the rich convo ❤🎉❤
I put a pink bikini on my 4 year old. Never thought twice about it. Will be tossing that one!
Amen
As a man, I’ve seen women in short tight dresses, at like bars, and clubs, and places like that, out with friends, at the gym, obviously see the Instagram, fitness influencer style clothes, that girls wear, but going to the beach, and seeing women in bikinis, that definitely makes me feel something, not to mention I think all of these are immodest, but it’s just the bikini that makes me feel some type of way
Just checked out rey swimwear, very expensive, but gorgeous. Please add more modest swimwear that goes below the bikini line!
What a miracle. I’m so happy for her. Our Lady came through!!! As she always does!! ❤
God Bless you Lila! Love your work!
Thank you, Jeffrey!
An excellent discussion. I can see I will have to think more deeply about modesty as I am finishing writing my first book.
Loved this episode! Thank you Jessica and Lila! 🫶🏼
About time Christians talk about this! I've been having these thoughts for years but haven't found likewise Christian women who care to listen or take this stuff seriously with me! Such a breath of fresh air to hear this podcast. And encouraging.
Fantastic episode! Really enjoyed this one
Thank you for listening ❤
I pray the beauty pageants stop bikni walk ....
I don't know if this might be helpful to think about regards to modesty but along with thinking about how literally "less is more" isn't helpful for modest dress and the notion of looking for love in all the wrong places, hope these are helpful!

Luke 6:43-44 “A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit.
Jessica - thank you for helping people in our over-sexed society to move back in a better direction.
Beautiful ladies!! God bless you
Speaking of women wearing pants, when I entered a Catholic college in 1968, it had recently gone coed, and a big controversy was whether the newly admitted women were to only wear dresses or skirts, rather than pants. Eventually, pants and slacks won. Although you were free to wear dresses too. The women, that is.
Thank you for this episode. I have three young girls and it is even difficult finding modesty swim suits for a five year. How sad that is.
Wow, wow, wow .......what a wholesome conversation 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Loved the episode! Nicole Caruso would be a good person to have on to further discuss the topic of modesty!
I really loved this talk - just wanted to let you know that!
Great interview!!!❤️🕊🙏🏻
"Dressing with Dignity" by Colleen Hammond
You can still wear some things that the author does not approve of (like pants) and be modest. It’s a pretty fundamentalist book.
Love this episode. Funny experiences, emotional personal experiences, thank you for sharing. ❤ 🙏
Oh bless her babies. 3 miracles! Praise our Lord.
Let us pray for her then! so that she can continue to receive grace through the Blessed Lady from Jesus 💛 she is attempting to do a good thing, let’s pray that the she is continued to be guided by grace
As for the seminarian, it’s hard to say because we don’t have the full context and we didn’t get a chance to hear his side of the story.
SO good!!
Amazing miracles
Gave me chills…
I heard you refer to yourself as an actress.
While no one has the right to touch you we should not be tempters!
Beautiful story ❤❤❤
Great testimonial 👍🙏🕊️
In Fatima, modesty was very much stressed by the Blessed Virgin Mary because She also told us in the Fatima Message: “more souls go to hell for sins of the flesh than any other reason.”
Padre Pio refused time and again to absolve any woman, no matter how important she was, who did not wear her skirts at least 8 inches below the knee.
If anyone wants advice on what to wear to the beach I would say to wear a one piece swimsuit with a pareo on top that covers the buttocks and legs because just a swimsuit, you can often see your buttocks anyway, and if we wouldn't wear this in the street we shouldn't wear this in front of people at the beach God bless you
that is so awesome!
I was a massive power rangers fan. It desperately needs a reboot
Modesty for men and women matters.
I think that Jose guy might have been St. Joseph, just saying. I've heard of stories where St. Joseph appears and helps people out and no one ever sees him again, so, it might've been him
Love it
She’s the White tiger ranger!!
Why was he hanging out with this seminarian - sounds a little strange -
Kate Middleton dresses very modest.
If they don't think women's swimsuits are modest enough let them wear men's swimsuits.
Many say Catholics are fake Christians and the Suits aren't Modest enough but at least you tried. Dressing Modestly does no good when you go to places where others are not. Laws need to be made. No one should see anyone else from the knee to the neck that is not their spouse. Period.
The suits are perfectly modest, but you cannot course add a skirt or a t shirt if you feel you need to. Everyone has a different standard of modesty.

I wear a bikini but it has sports bra and boxer shorts. Bought at sporting goods store. Works for me well.

Very lovely ladies.
Suggestions for bras that fit well but don’t draw too much attention??? 😂
Lovely bathing suits. Too expensive for me😢
I don't wear super revealing clothing, but at the same time I enjoy feeling sexy and wearing attractive clothing.

As a woman, we were made to be beautiful, thanks be to God. I would encourage you to pray some more about this. ask the Holy Spirit and ask the Blessed Mother and St Joseph to guide you & your husband on this topic too 🙏
@@gloriaa.2442 thank you. I will pray over this and do my best to leave the sexy clothes for my hubby.
