I’m a Baptist, and Mother Natalia’s explanation of loneliness and anguish being a reminder that this life isn’t our home was so helpful. I’ve been recovering from a very sinful and worldly way of life and I’ve felt worthless and unsaveable lately. This was such a good reminder to me.
You are NOT worthless. If that is in your head your ears need to hear you say, “Get thee behind me Satan”. Then say it until the echo in there summons that devil to leave your head. Divine Mercy Is Real, Brother/Sister 🙏🏼❤️
“In the name of Jesus I renounce the lie. I proclaim the truth that You have good things in store for me”. Wow, thank you for this reminder that as long as Jesus is Lord, it is NOT downhill from here. He has plans for me for that are good and hopeful.
I am an evangelical Christian - I have shared this with several friends, noting the refreshing honesty, convicting witness, and authentic descriptions of living out one’s faith. Thank you all for sharing this wonderful conversation, and I pray blessings from the Lord to you all. God bless.
"There's enough in your little Novus Ordo parish, with your little Magnificat and your poorly said Rosary everyday for you to become a saint." Love that! Well said, Matt.
@@jamesmiller8052 I wonder. That little NO Parish can have priests who don't preach orthodoxy and how we believe is how we pray. Mother you have NO IDEA how much I needed to hear that explanation of why the Lord gives us that penetrating loneliness that is crushing and I’ve been experiencing every few months. And like father I feel like I won’t make it the next day, I almost wish I won’t make it the next bc I just want to be with the Lord in heaven. It is exactly what you said, the anguish we feel it is a reminder that we don’t belong here, that we have been made for eternity. Thank you, thank you! God bless you all. God bless Pints abundantly. Thanks Matt for the amazing work you have been doing with your podcast. I remember so vividly the first time I came across your podcast almost 4 years ago have not stopped listening since. 🙏🏻✝️
Praying for you, dear one. Not to contradict Mother Natalia, but to add something that has helped me: Peter Kreeft wrote something about how we learn things here that we carry with us to heaven. There are things to learn here that can only be learned HERE, so if God has us where we are, it’s because He wills it and wants us to fully engage wherever He has us. It put the whole “live in the present” thing on overdrive for me. I desperately want Heaven NOW, but I’m learning to trust that what I have right in front of me is part of the whole story. Does that make sense? I hope that’s helpful, if not feel free to disregard! 🥰
So many pieces of this episode cut thru my heart when I was least expecting it. I’m very much in need to rewatch. The imperfect humanity of these individuals shows so sharply and evidently at times, it becomes impossible not to see God working thru them. It’s almost like God wants us to lean onto our weaknesses so that there’s no doubt it’s Him behind it all. I’ve been struggling quite a bit these days, and this has been such an ointment to my overwhelmingly aching wounds. Thank you so much!
This has been so edifying and would welcome more episodes with Mother Natalia and Fr. O'Loughlin in the future. Thank you for all you do for us, Matt...am still watching.
I can’t sleep and am going through a very dark period. The middle section of this podcast helped me immensely. As has Mother Natalia in general. Her comment about the world not being our home really struck a chord. I also think I am going to memorize some of my favorite psalms for future use.
I was born Muslim but not a practicing one. But I always felt a close connection with God. I find listening to you guys very calming and peaceful. My late father was a practicing Muslim (not fanatic) always told us there is one God but many path to get to God. Always respected all religions. ❤🙏
I love the vulnerability from everybody in this conversation and I loved what Father Michael talked about with his feelings of loneliness and the love hes had for specific women, and how he highlighted that its only on a surface level an not on a deep level like it should be
What a beautiful converstation. The question at 1 hour 38 minutes (addressing past sins) and Mother Natalia's answer really hit me---she says we think "if I can just do enough good deeds then I'm lovable...but it's neigher our sin nor our good actions that define us, but the fact that we've been loved into existance".
Sr. Natalie has spoken directly to my heart in each episode she's been on. Thank you so much for these conversations. As an SSA person, although I think I might be called to some sort of religious life, I also know that it's likely that it isnt in God's plan for me. Something about the things she has shared across her visits both makes me sad that I may never have the opportunity to really discern if that could be for me, but I see the richness of opportunities outside of that lifestyle more clearly now.
I knew Mother Natalia would persevere especially with Fr. Michael as an Spiritual father, she is a very smart woman. I'm grateful to be a member of Holy Protection of the Mother of God.
Fr. Michael, your comment about loving the woman for whom you have feelings by doing what is right and holy resonated greatly with me. The Lord just gave me the same thoughts/approach toward my own priest. He will never know, but God knows, and I know. And it's so freeing to live according to this holy wisdom. Glory to Jesus Christ!
As a new Catholic, I'm learning to view my marriage and family as a vocation. That Bishop was right, the sex, as good as it may be, is not enough after a while if that's your primary goal. Satiating cravings of any kind is never enough if your cravings are your god. As gods, they demand and demand, and demand some more. My calling to my family is higher than all that. I have a duty, a job to do, to love my wife and kids and lead them to the Lord. That's a high responsibility that I don't feel up to most days. By the grace of God, I'll fullfil my calling.
I found this to be so helpful, thank you very, very much. It's worth noting that mostly everything that priests and monastics discuss regarding the celibate life also applies to the single Catholics, especially those of us with little hope lol
That St. Seraphim of Sarov quote at 1:24:57 has been my daily prayer for months now. It's taped to my monitor at work so I can think of it all throughout the day and it keeps coming up in conversations and places I would not expect. God is good, all the time.
I know that spiritual darkness/dryness, days when I feel that I'm barely holding to my faith by a thread but in saying that, in using that image, my mind goes to the woman who dared/hoped to touch the Lord's cloak and I find it in me to hold on and climb back
Im only commenting to contribute to the algorithm to show this video a little bit more, I know nobody will read this, God bless Mthr Natalia and Fr Michael
I recently came back to the Catholic Church and started watching Catholic TH-cam and found Pints with Aquinas and Matt Fradd. my initial reaction to him was not entirely favorable as I watched some of his earlier videos and talks. But I kept watching because he had very interesting guests. as I've gotten to his more recent stuff I've been amazed to see his development as an interviewer and a person. Usually pubic persons begin humble and become arrogant and cocky but in the viewing I've done Matt is the opposite of that. Any cockiness that he had at the start seems to have been dissolved and now his comments and thoughts are so inspiring, humble and helpful. It's really profound to see someone's process of sanctification in interviews recorded over the course of several years. Really appreciate the conversations you're putting out!
Careful there Sister. Clumping icons and the Holy Eucharistic (in adoration) are absolutely distinct in substance. The latter is omnipresent in both the present as accidents and the living presence of Christ throughout all time.
Thank you for the show, for the MINISTRY that you do! I was recieved in to the church this pentecostal! Just two days ago! Your channel has had a role, support in my journey. My first episode was Christopher West body, sex, love and God. That one on... I was captured! Praise be to Jesus Christ 🙏 🙌
This was just what Our Lord wanted me to hear...feelings, thoughts and incidents that are common to humans...loved the video as ALWAYS. Thank you and God Bless. JMJ.
Thank you so much for these episodes! Love seeing Mother Natalia again & could watch her mother Gabriela many more times. Thank you for speaking so honestly about feeling of loneliness & subject around possibility of falling in love while being a nun or a priest.
For the carmelite comment: from a carmelite friar. A monastery of Carmelite nuns are not supposed to be more than 21 nuns. Originally Holy Mother Teresa wanted only 13 in her first foundation Saint Joseph's Carmel in Avila. But during her lifetime she conceded to the number 21. When a monastery reach this amount and another candidate presents herself, she either is refered to another Carmel, or the monastery in question ask for dispensation to receive the candidate, in view for a future foundation. The idea of a limited amount of nuns is to foster a family spirit. St Teresa in her original community (Incarnation monastery in Avila) had around 200 nuns plus servants (of the rich nuns) and borders running around. She wanted to secure silence, family spirit, and to ensure everybody gets to eat.
Feeling blessed listening to you all - I needed to listen to this- one day I’d love to buy you a bourbon and a cigar and have a good yarn - love you all, and I’ll say a prayer for you
It might be ignorant of me as someone who has lived his whole life as an ordinary man, but I can't imagine how Fr. O'Loughlin and Mthr. Natalia went so deep into each other's hearts without developing non-platonic feelings for each other. It just amazes me.
It struck me into a memory as you guys spoke of Turkish hair culture. When I was in Iraq there were a lot of Turkish barbers at the bases there and they are absolutely fantastic barbers. They groom the male head/hair head and hair like nothing any American has ever experienced. I actually looked forward to going to the barber there. I actually fell asleep in those chairs from time to time. There are some tremendous barber traditions among the barbers I met there from India too. We in America have NO IDEA how well cultured barbers are from over there.
On the note about doubting one's vocation: It's called perseverance for a reason. Because you'll want to quit. If you felt like a kid in a candy story all the time, what virtue is that? Is that maturing spiritually? No. But trusting that what God has called you to is the best thing for you, that it will lead to your fulfillment, even when it's hard and you want to give up, that's where growth happens.
Oh Mother! About halfway into the video, your references to your spiritual children suddenly reminded me of mine. I have been praying for them since I was 15... so, many years! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted, who is in danger of abortion. VENERABLE FULTON SHEEN
Love you all :) Great meeting! 13:20 "It's not a date, it's just lunch. I want to see if I want to ask you for a date" and Father's face after saying that :D
SO AMAZING! I work with Project Rachel, a post Abortion healing ministry. I will be using some of this great content during our retreat coming up, where we will be focusing on identity. ❤
I wish I had someone who could at least believe what I believe God has called me to, so they could discern with me, but I've never had that. It's such a lonely road.
13:00 YES!!!!!!! Thank you!!! I (and all my friends) wish that someone could tell all the guys we know that if you like a girl, you CANNOT under any circumstances go the middle school route and just state your feelings (“I really like you”) or invite her to something with vague intent (to avoid saying “date” to avoid risking rejection). You HAVE to be clear.
Man Matts line about saying horny, and how we need to present our problems honestly and not filtered really knocked me around. Ty Matt, I needed to hear that.
Gadday Matt. From Down Under in Woke Melbourne Australia. Enjoy your podcasts especially the one on the Eucharist. Just listened to Dr. Gavin Ashenden podcast re. ‘Are Anglo- Catholics, Trans Catholics? Becoming Roman Catholic.’ Ashenden Scripted . Would LOVE you to interview him. He was the religious adviser to the former Queen Elisabeth.😢
Such an enjoyable conversation to listen to! I really think Mother Natalia's comments to the woman who wrote in around 1:43 would be wonderful as a shorter clip for more people to see, especially those in difficult situations or feeling trapped in sinful actions.
Just thought I’d leave this here. I started listening to this album about two years ago by the Monks of Worth Abbey, and it’s helped me to memorise so many of the psalms so easily. Thanks be to God! th-cam.com/play/OLAK5uy_mhhq4n6_xxlqssGkRsGY6z1ZGiMO5rHnQ.html
Thank you for openly touching the topic of loneliness. This is very important for me and rarely guests here talk about it (I would love to watch an interview with a joyful, self-confident, mid-old, secular, single man about loneliness and spiritual life without bitterness) 1:02:30 "You're tempted to dating, not marriage. You want to date. You want to pursue a girl. You want a girl to show you affection and attention... I don't want the deeper things." A great thought I need to reflect upon. I think understanding these desires is crucial to live a full life as a single man, without grudge and despair. I appreciated Father Michael sharing his experiences and struggles.
"Ask any man after a year is the sex enough" my wife and I never based our relationship on sex. We were chaste until after marriage and then immediately after that she got pregnant. I love my wife. If we never engaged in the marital act again I would shed a tear. Id always come home to her and shed always come home to me.
G day fr o’loughlin your comments about holding hands and watching a movie is only the fantasy of it. I’m a 38yr old husband father of 4 and a underground coal miner from Newcastle Australia. I came to Christ 5yrs ago. Just to let you know it’s not all like that my wife doesn’t want to hold hands because it’s embarrassing, I bought her flowers today and took them to her work and she told me to take them home because it was embarrassing. You may get a partner who you can shower your love upon but you may feel empty just like you do when you think of what it could be like. So stay where you are because that’s where god has you. I say this out of love and compassion for you. God wants me to love my wife and that’s all I can do. Matt , fr o’ loughin and mthr Natalia thank you and I hope I get to meet you in heaven
You know Mother Natalia is awesome when the thumbnail shows two men smoking cigars and she doesn't seem to care. I don't know one woman who would stay in a room while I smoked a cigar. 😂 EDIT: . To clarify, I mean about the cigar smoke, not the fact that they're smoking in the first place. I also made this comment before the release so I was going solely based on the thumbnail itself and not anything in the video. Finally I'll point out that the Catholic Church doesn't condemn smoking cigars. It's when you do things to excess that it becomes sinful according to Church teachings. EDIT #2: Called her Sister, changed it to Mother
I thought Christian’s wasn’t suppose to smoke (cigars or cigarettes) also, if the other guy (not the host) has a personality where he easily gets addicted to things, why is he smoking? Isn’t your body suppose to be a temple or something? For a podcast that talks a lot about sin, I just don’t understand why it would be okay to sit and smoke cigars, whilst talking about sinful behavior. 🤷🏼♀️ It comes across as a bit hypocritical.
This is the kind of content I subscribe for. No politics, trans stuff, etc. Just beauty, love, support, theology, real life, and Christ.

Should’ve been the title Thursday!
The Trans stuff is important to discuss and push back on. However, I agree that this was a wholesome ep.

I needed this today. Thank you
Hello Mother Natalia!
We met a few weeks ago in Chagrin Falls. It was a joy to meet you and Mother Gabriella. ❤
I love this conversation! Thank you 🙏🏼
I wish Mother Natalia's podcast was also in video form and not only audio.
Man Matts line about saying horny, and how we need to present our problems honestly and not filtered really knocked me around. Ty Matt, I needed to hear that.
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH I COULD CRY

Thanks, I downloaded it on spotify for listening to on public transit (on the way to work)
3 hours will watch every minute!
I love this conversation.
Thank you for openly touching the topic of loneliness. This is very important for me and rarely guests here talk about it (I would love to watch an interview with a joyful, self-confident, mid-old, secular, single man about loneliness and spiritual life without bitterness)
1:02:30 "You're tempted to dating, not marriage.
My favorite guests, they are so.. human.
God bless you Matt Fradd.
This was beautiful. Thank you

This was so beautiful 🥰🥰🥰🙏
Why is everyone so up in arms about the cigars? Settle down
Because they never had one before
@@CatholicMemeTheory because your addicted.
Mthr. Natalia is my favorite PWA guest. Fr. O'Laughlin is okay too.
All the banger podcasts are finally starting to come out :)
🌌 Beautiful! 🙏🏽
We miss you in Fort Collins, Father Michael! ☦️
G’day from Sydney and God bless
Why is your wife ashamed of your love and affection?
You know Mother Natalia is awesome when the thumbnail shows two men smoking cigars and she doesn't seem to care. I don't know one woman who would stay in a room while I smoked a cigar. 😂
EDIT: .
That its is called virtue
It would be wrong if she cared? What? Lol
@@NiinaSKlove The Catholic Church does not condemn smoking in moderation.
My wife would...but she would also likely have a cigar.
53:35 --> Summary of "Love & Responsibility"
56:00 --> Loneliness as a gift, an ache for the eternal happiness in Heaven
I add please’s and thank you into my Hail Marys.
And Beloved Mother of God..
So excited for this!
Good video
Do you have a link to that Fulton Sheen "Every great sinner" soundtrack? I've heard it a few times on your streams and really like it.
