You have given us much “food” for thought.
That’s funny! Thanks!
Dr Brewer you look tired, but have you been doing excessively long fasts? @@PrevMedHealth
Not really, Recording multiple takes can be exhausting though
yes i did a 2 weeker once(59) and lost 12 lbs and people at work could see it in my face but ask if i was sick, but if i work out it makes me want to eat something later on fasting is tough.gonna have to do it again
He gave no food for thought 😮😊😊
I have done up to 72 hour dry fasts, and months at a time of OMAD carnivore/low carb. Ketogenic lifestyle had already transformed my health, but fasting has given me back my energy and vitality, and cured me of depression.
I’m a survivor of my first 70 years because of everything you’re doing. It’s great to feel great.🎉
I was on my 3rd day of a water fast with electrolytes when I saw Dr. Shawn Baker's talk with Dr. August Dunning on dry fasting. I was delighted to hear of a way to shorten my fast because I had something going on that I was tired of dealing with. It was inflammation in my neck, and I feel certain it stemmed from a root canal, which I did have it pulled, recently, and wanted to hurry up the process of healing. I immediately ventured into a 7 day dry fast. Yes, it was tough the last 2 days, but I stuck it out. Being an RN, I was able to monitor myself closely. I came out it of extremely slow... melting ice in my mouth, and finally, in a few hours, I started drinking a little at a time. Beef bone broth the next day... advancing to soft boiled eggs and so on. The fast did the job. I don't think I will ever do that again... at least not for 7 days stretch. I'm 68 and on no meds. Being that dehydrated is nothing to play with.
If you are a Nurse, would you be allowing any patients to do dry Fast for 7 days DURING HOT SUMMER when dehydration can cause Stroke and Heart Attacks in seemingly Healthy individuals? Would you allow as a Nurse to do Dry Fast after a Surgery which needs healing afterwards and without consulting your Surgeon who did the Surgery? (Assume your Oral Surgery Doctor or Periodontist or Dentist did allow you personally to specifically do DRY FAST DURING HOT SUMMER DAYS). Have you ever met a Surgeon who would recommend a Dry Fast after surgery for Healing Inflammatory response? If so, what types of Surgery Doctors really recommend DRY FAST after their surgery and where did they get their degrees and what Body part do they perform their surgeries?
Fasting should NOT mean avoiding water. In fact, I do drink water + Celtic / Sea Salt during my Fasting. Is 7 days Fasting necessary??? NO!!!!! 48 hours is enough.
50 years ago I embarked on a 2 week distilled water fast. Day number 6 the psoriasis I had totally covering both my arms from elbow to shoulder completely resolved after 2 years of suffering with it. A dermatologist told me it was autoimmune and I would just have to live with it and use cortisone cream. It has never resurfaced and now I wonder if the fast repaired a mitochondrial malfunction?
Hello there Mary, how are you doing?
That dangerous. Distilled water is missing necessary electrolytes and trace minerals
At that time I was following Paul Bragg’s protocol and he had been doing it for decades. The developer of Bragg’s apple cider vinegar and Bragg’s liquid aminos. All I know is that at that time it worked 🤷♀️
Hi Mary, have you try baking soda, make a paste and apply to your dry skin area. Also, you make mix antibiotic powder or (scrushing pill), campho phenique and benedryl. apply to psoriasis area. It help.
No need as it hasn’t resurfaced in 50 years.
I don't eat until 1pm then again at ~ 8pm which gives me a 17 hr break I've maintained the same routine for the past 20 years at least, for no other reason other than it suits my lifestyle.
It's good to know I'm doing something right! 😊
I'm 64 and eat just one high fat, low (
I am 62. I have decent amount of skeletal muscle mass. I have no problem with fasting or low carb as long as I get enough protein.
My 85 years of experience suggests that without sports and a moderate Mediterranean diet, we will not see happiness :-). Before the first meal (around 12.00) I swim about 1.5 km in open water in winter and summer, interspersed with 20 km of road bike at least 2 times a week. The second meal is at 19.00-20.00. Weight about 78 kg. with a height of 181. Previously, I adhered to the 5-2 mode. But on the advice of Dr. Longo, I refused, because I was already over 70, and even that regime caused misunderstanding among my entourage, especially in the tavern. Doctors do not complain about my health.
I don’t understand why you don’t have millions of subscribers! You present the information in a very simple to understand language and don’t try to sell junk.
Good point!
It’s because when anyone goes out to eat or shops at a grocery store, the food presentation is such to keep everyone unhealthy so the medical communities can treat the symptom not the cause. This is what RFK Jr wants to fix in reference to chronic disease syndrome.
That's why I like this channel. Honest opinion. I seen a Video stating one shot clears clogged arteries. Total lies and they don't care. Thank you Dr. Brewer for being honest. This honestly keeps me watching. We know the fastest way to clear your arteries is fasting.
I watched your earlier videos where you talked about your personal lifestyle changes you made and I adopted that policy myself. And doing so I am a healthy person today. A lot of my personal health improvement came when I switched to a vegetarian diet.
Anyone looking for a best meal for health. Eat raw vegetables. Didn't say it was enjoyable (make an awesome salad) but it can grow on you once you start seeing results.
It's not a all or nothing diet. Maybe the most important thing with diet is just staying away from certain foods. Eat natural foods that come from the ground.
Thank you very much
Vegetables are gross
What you meant to say is that "in my opinion"
This is the best explanation with the diagrams of what is happening in your body. Sending this to all my family and friends.
I've done 5 day fasting mimicking every year since I read about it Dr Longo's book. I found it much easier than water fasing.
First time I was admitted for pancreatitis, I was injected pain killer and dry fasted for 3 days until all my enzymes (pancreatic and liver) returned to normal. So, one shot for pain, total rest of my digestive system was the treatment.
Mediterranean and Okinawa people seem to just eat healthy and with moderation, along with relaxed lifestyle and moderate daily activities and it seems like the most balanced way to live

Many thanks from down under - Australia, for another very inspiring video. God bless you 🙏💜✨
I've been Keto/Ketovore for several years. Other TH-cam influencers also recommend Fasting. The one that works best for me, a 72 year-old female, about 235 lbs, is an 18 hour fast at least once or twice a week. One influencer said one doesn't really get or feel good effects of Fasting unless one goes at least 18 hours. Since I eat nutrient dense, high Carnivore-type meals, I can easily do 12 hours without batting an eye, and only start getting hungry after 16 hours. I just grit my teeth for the remaining two hours before eating a lean, high protein snack, then an hour later a full meal. I've tried a 12 hour Dry Fast, and I did lose a couple of pounds, but not sure if that was water, muscle, fat or whatever. Will do that only occasionally if feeling too bloated for too long. Totally agree about taking Electrolytes. Had a PE and resultant heart attack 9 years ago, and found out the hard way that I couldn't do more than an 8 hr. Fast without feeling terrible. Felt much better taking Electrolytes and now can go on longer if I take them during an 18+ hour Fast. May also take Black Coffee (with a few drops of Stevia); Green Tea and occasionally a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water, if I really feel the need to put something in my mouth during a Fast, but since acclimated to Fasting, I rarely now use those crutches.
I remember, a 14-16 fast was totally normal in my chiclhood. We had dinner at 17 and breakfast at 7 on weekends at 9. It is just now that people belive they could not survive without snacking. A healty baby over 4 kg normally eats not more often than 4 hours because he is not hungry. An adult has much more reserv to survive 4 hours without eating!
I fast 22-23 hours every day. I am never hungry. But I can't fast more than 24 hrs because I can't sleep in a fasted state... I wonder how people do multi-day fasts and manage to sleep 😥
Right there with you. Wide awake with an empty belly. Repeat, WIDE awake.
Same here, im never hungry! I eat for nutrients not hunger
Are you doing keto or carnivore?
Same here. Sleeping while being hungry... impossible.
On the second day I toss and turn a lot. I just came off a 2 day plus fast. I felt like a slug today. My heart was fluttering a bit and I had to eat. I ate some boiled cabbage and a few hours later I feel great. Give up a little sleep and feel great later after you get some great results. Personally, I don't fast for more than two days. I don't know why my heart flutters; palpitations I think they call it but don't risk your health trying to get healthy. just do what you can. A 2 day+ fast is much more healing than a one day if your body can handle it. Raw vegetables are also very healing. You could try Camomile tea, it helps. I think.
Great info. Issue is with all the experts giving
their take, laymen like me get confused. I trust you Sir.
I sure like to see how many Drs. Are talking about this. I’m 77 and started out with Dr. Atkins and I think that’s why I still run ride a unicycle and continue to research and improve myself. Thanks

On a side note: I heard Dr. Ford and Dr. Jose had a beard growing contest...and nobody won! 😏
Personally recently what helps me is three small meals a day, with mostly vegetables and proteins, fish or chicken type. A sip of olive oil on it
To back you up, my husband's neurologist told him to eat more beef, protein, and vegetables.
Beef is where we get B12 for brain health. He is still a starch eater.
But you are doing the right thing! 🤛
You might be doing well, but your body is not going into autophagy and if you have clogged arteries, then you won’t benefit from it.
My way is to eat between 1pm -5pm anything I like but if it is carbs it must have been boiled the day before I eat it. I take 1or 2 oranges unfailingly daily, Eat any fruits or veggies I can find and take a ten minutes walk. Then a spoon of Olive oil in the morning and at night. Because I always have thick blood I swallow I small Vasoprin tablet maybe once in two days. My weight is down, my sugar is 4.5 and I feel great!
Fasting & low/zero carb seems to work.
Just my experience.
Thanks doc!

This is why I love your channel so much! Thank you for the real information. So much noise out there today. Even though I’m on a high carb plant based diet my fasting insulin is really low and so is my A1 c. I do time restricted eating and have not worked into a fast because at 64 and 105lb not much wiggle room. What are your thoughts on a green juice fast?
People find it difficult to regularly fast/Time Restricted Eating because they are addicted to eating because they driven by their hormones to eat. A diet of carbohydrates/sugar can be addictive. Fasting may not trigger autophagy if the insulin and or cortisol hormone levels are elevated. The other challenge is that autophagy levels are dependent on how healthy the immune system is working. Lack of electrolyte when breaking a fast can put a risk of a heart attack when breaking a fast known as the refeeding syndrome. Meal to reduce CVD is to maximize Omega3 and minimizes Omega6 and carbohydrates. Fasting limit carbs and the production of lipid/triglycerides/fats in the blood. Omega 3 helps remove LDL cholesterol used to patch up arterial blockage and inflammation.
Hi Frewer ,Thank you so much for the video and for teaching us how to take good care of our heart health Appreciate you very much .
Hello there Jenny, how are you doing?
How is "clean arteries" measured? Plaque reversal using Cardio angiogram? Plaque stabilization, Is it measured using calcium score? Thanks!
I just started eating Kerry Gold cheese. So good and no carbs or sugar. Grass fed butter snd cheese is the best!
"carbs"
Reductionist thinking much?
do you really think after watching the section on inflammation that cheese and butter are a good idea?
It tastes delicious. Still trying to figure out the cholesterol in it.
@@mjs28s I don't suggest making a whole meal only dairy, but a bit of dairy is unlikely to be a problem for most people. *All* foods cause some level inflammation. Some of us do just fine with dairy. Some Europeans are possibly even adapted to needing higher amounts of calcium from dairy.
@@Vatsek You are not going to absorb much cholesterol from any food. Even Ancel Keys knew that dietary cholesterol was not really a problem. Your liver is really good at making cholesterol and makes most of what you have flowing through your system. Also don't confuse lipoproteins (eg LDL) with cholesterol.
@@trail.blazer Tell us more, I hate it when they label LDL as bad cholesterol and I was glad to hear Barbara O'niel say that our bodies need LDL to power some parts of the brains.

Great video Doc Ford. You covered it all with some new stuff and confirmations.
The info given by Dr. Brad Stanfield relating to the supposed ineffectiveness of IF relative to simple caloric restriction was concerned only with weight loss. The results he presented did not talk about or address in any way the other - and frankly, much more important - health factors such as: allowing insulin levels to stabilize, allowing the body simply to 'rest' and clean out (almost always ignored by health pundits these days), promotion of autophagy (and thus associated benefits as outlined in this video regarding cardio health), promotion of stem cell growth and growth hormone increase, promotion of BDNF in the brain....etc., etc. It's almost as if there is a concerted effort by the mainstream medical crowd to 'diss' fasting and intermittent fasting...and any cheap, natural health practice that interferes with the whole pharmaceutical intervention industry. IF and fasting, along with exercise, are, should be, the two fundamental pillars of any health regime. In a better world, these two would be trumpeted from the proverbial rooftops by governmental health ministries around the world. Instead, we see, now that they have gained so much popularity, deliberate attacks upon these pillars of wisdom by mainstream medicine. Quel surprise.

Great content ❤ absolutely 💯. I used to be vegan for many years and I was doing keto and intermittent fasting same day . All the above are tools to use as you have pointed out correctly but people don’t really listen. 😄 anyway, keep up the fantastic work. Ciao from down under..
I've practised 16:8 for a year and a half. Some days 14-15, some days 18+. I've never been one to get up and eat anyways, so nbd. Black coffee on wake is the most important meal of my day! When I started IF I felt it was magic, now it's just a normal part of life. When I need to trigger my body to burn fat, I use MFP and reduce my calories while keeping macros balanced for my lifestyle. A balanced diet and exercise has always worked well for me. But... I'm waiting on the CAC to see how much damage I'm left with after 58yrs of sweets and carbs. Trying to convince Canadian docs I want the CIMT first, but it's like pulling teeth. They immediately scheduled me for the CTA which I cancelled. I've been wise about carbs and toying with the idea of going keto with complex carbs only around my resistance training., seems doable. Dr. Brewer, you seem athletic, have you played pickleball? It's like free exercise, love it
What is CAC, MFP, 14.-15, CIMT. Pickleball, am so confused by you. Please explain! Thanks😂😂😂
@@princessgreen726 Google yourself, I don't waste my time on dumb questions or need this to be my social life. Save the whales
@@princessgreen726 CAC is a calcium score that can tell you if you have plaque and risk from it. CIMT is similar to the CAC but it measures the intra media thickness of your carotid arteries. (thicker or thickening is bad) . 14-15 means some days he fasts 14 hours or 15 hours. Pickleball is a silly court and ball game that is all the rage with the chronically online. MFP is probably My Fitness Pal, an app that can help you track calories or macros (Protein/Fat/Carbohydrate).

A lot of people recommend salt and I can't seem to have any if I do my eyes get really puffy and I feel tired ...
What do you recommend ?
A lot of people recommend lots of salt eating this way .keto what is the truth ?
I eat low carb like you .
I noticed if I'm vegan eating non processed foods nuts and seeds it's ok to have a pinch or two .
But if I eat meat I don't require salting if I do salt it's too much .
I read that meats and animal products have high sodium already .
The times I have salted too much morninga powder helps me get rid of it .
Please don't ignore my comment lots of other channels ignore this question .
I know one carnivore girl on here doesn't recommend salt ..she's probably the most famous carnivore on TH-cam .
But she did make A video about not salting her meats because it causes her to feel fatigue .

I do fast Omad
I use 8 parts moringa to 1 part salt ground in a coffee grinder .
But I only take 1/64 a tsp .
I may experiment with 4 parts to 1 .
Because if I have more than that I feel my sodium goes low so perhaps I need tiny bit more sodium fasting .
Ill only use at the most 1/32 tsp of this fasting powder I make .
If I have salt while fasting I get very sick and bloated and hold water .
I read a hindu fasting guide from the 30 s and it says not to take salt alone on a Fast ..and to replenish with foods that have sodium . Yogurt cheeses and such
What if you are to thin .
How should I do that with every second day of riding my racebike? Where do I get the power from while fasting? Thank‘s for the very good explanation!👍
Don’t do it - until you are very fat-adapted. That will take 3 to 6 months, depending on how often you do it.

@@PrevMedHealth Correction: I have total cholesterol at 336 and LDL at 263. Yes I'm familiar with the term lean mass hyperresponder. Thanks for your response. Would you recommend getting a coronary angiogram and CAC score and should I get these done every year just in case? I'm 50 years old.
The 8/16 intermittent dont make sense..it isn't like the person is eating only once a day or starving. Then you got least 8 hours is for sleeping....and one should not be eating the 16 hours straight anyways. lol
