    Do you have any suggestions for me:
    My santa fe 2015 trunk SOMETIMES wont open. When it wont open, the button press doesnt make any noise (like the latching noise). Randomly it will start working again and the latching noise will return of course.
    My mechanic has not been able to replicate the issue as my car is gaslighting me and decides to work every time i take it to the mechanic. Any ideas? Is it the actuator or the switch? Or something more?
    Thanks fir your video and your time reading this 😊

      You would need to test the powers on the plugs when actuating it. Boot switch plug and the latch plug and hopefully it faults. When it does no voltage will display when pressed

    How do you know when the issue is the button and not the actuator for the machine on the latch?
    The door wouldn’t close because the latch wouldn’t lock, so I slammed it a bit harder and then the latch stuck but now it won’t open.
    My thought is something is wrong with the lock mechanism but if the button isn’t working to open the latch, then maybe that’s the issue too.
    Thanks for this video, it’s the closest thing I can find to my specific issue!

      @@sloopjohnb602 you need a wiring diagram and back probe the wires. When the button is pressed you’ll see voltage.
      Same as the latch if your getting voltage at the button wire than test to see if your getting power at the latch when pressing the button

    Why they didn't wire this switch into a connector that you could pull straight out of the mounting hole and unplug after removing the two screws is beyond poor engineering. What a headache. I stupidly bought the part without suspecting I'd need to take the entire tailgate apart... Appreciate this walkthrough, though.

    hey, my 2015 Santa Fe sport trunk wouldn't open, but the lights blink when i press the trunk button on the key fob. I installed a new trunk latch that matches the model and it functions normally now but it says my trunk is still open when its not. What did I do wrong? How can I fix this? ty in advance.

      Either installed a faulty switch, installed incorrectly or possibly a broken wire further down. Sometimes it can break inside the rubber in between the boot lid and body

    How much should this cost to fix? And if I want to do it myself where can I get the part?

      I don’t do the pricing I’m just the mechanic haha. I would go with main dealer

      @owensautotips mother in law has a 2017, you press the button to open and it'll sometimes open others it cracks open a few inches then stops and lastly at other times it'll fully open. Is it that switch?

      @joselopez-hj5iz if it opened and move a few inches then might be the electric motor

    how did you took off the part that has hyundai logo?

    • @owensautotips
      @owensautotips  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So as I say in the video, there are a couple of 10mm nuts on the inner side off the boot. Along with 2 each end of the boot. Once those are undone you need to give the outside trim and good pull as the clips harden over time.

    • @osmantunasen6061
      @osmantunasen6061 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@owensautotips I was worried the clips would break. Do we need to remove the clips first or do I have to pull the part hard?

    • @owensautotips
      @owensautotips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your able to squeeze the clips in from the inside whilst pulling you might stand a chance. If not then your likely to break a couple of clips. Even if you do you’ll still have all the nuts what hold it in place
