You don't need to take the seat out at all. There is a screw each at the front and back. Remove those and pull out the trim. Thanks for this. You saved me a lot of money.
@@automastercarrepairservice1782well perhaps you should have mentioned it, so that viewers don't unnecessarily remove the whole seat. This is why the comments can be more helpful than the video from time to time
May each and every individual involved in the making of this video have 10 fold happen upon them as to what you have helped me accomplish. Truly. I had been searching for the right answers. So many videos with bolts of seat removed… I’d been driving uncomfortably for months due to the recline function (1 direction only) not working. It was more difficult to get in/out, reach for seat belt, leg room issues…etc My gratitude 🙏 is overwhelmed with happiness and joy! Namo Himalaya
Thanks a million! Took no time at all to repair the front/passenger recliner switch of a 2014 Santa Fe...the seat was all the way back and couldn't get it forward. Didn't need to take the seat out like others noted. Took an hour total time - could probably do it in 30 minutes if I had to do it again....my only parting thought is how the contacts got so oxidized....I guess some good arcing is going on in the switch....
Like others noted it is not nessecery to remove the seat completly to do the work. But to understand the mechanism also. I am very much happy to know that too many people repaired their seat switch with watching my video. Yes every time while using the switch the contacts are getting heated up and got oxidised. that is why. Now these days using relay to reduce the loads to these switches.
Thanks for the direction. 2014 Santa Fe. It took me all day to get it back together with the two ball bearings seated properly, but I finally got it! You saved me 250.00 US dollars plus labor at the dealer. Also as others have stated, I did not have to remove the seat to get the switch out.
The hardest parts for me were dismantling to get to the switch casing and removing the plastic casing to reveal the copper switch. I took my time opening and cleaning and making sure that it goes back in the way it's supposed to. And be careful with that ball bearing as these guys suggested. I put it back and crossed my fingers and BOOM, IT WORKED! You guys rock! Thank you from California USA!!
I found that a small dab of Vaseline on the bbs kept them in place well enough to get it back together. If you lost the balls and can solder, you could steal a switch from a less used function to replace whichever one is causing you issues, the pinouts seem to be the same on all.
Just done this on another santa fe. Another £250 saved. Thanks alot. Videos like this inspire me with our throwaway culture in the west Again I emphasise the use of petroleum jelly on the ball bearing to secure them to the springs for a easy life
Thank you so much for this, the seat was full reclined in my wife's car and it was unsafe to drive. I fixed it with this video. Take pictures as you disassemble so you know which way the contacts go etc. Also a small dab of grease is essential to get the balls to stick where they need to be.
Amazing video worked perfectly for me. I just used petroleum jelly to hold the ball bearings in place and it worked perfect. Took about 45mins in total and saved me about £140 for a switch Thanks
Thank you for posting this video. You saved me so much money. The ball bearing was the hardest part to put back in, but I had my wife help me hold down the white thing with the ball bearing while I clipped the black thing back onto the circuit board.
I am very much happy to know that plenty of people using my video to repair these switches themself. there are too many types of switches comming in new model cars. will post more. thanks.
Thank you so much. Same issue with 2014 Elantra. With your instructions, easy. Without it, nearly impossible to figure out. Thank you for the English subtitle.
Thank you so much. This is amazingly easy to do thanks to your video. Otherwise, it would nearly be impossible to figure it out. Many thanks 🙏 from the USA.
🙏🙏🙏 I COULD NOT FIND THE MOTOR ON INTERNET AND I WENT TO THE AGENGY AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE $639 DOLLARS BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY NEED TO CHANGE THE WHOLE THING? 😳😳. I SHOWED THE VIDEO TO MY SON AND HE WAS ABLE TO FIX IT WITH YOUR VIDEO! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! 🙏🙏🙏 THE SEAT WAS OVER FOLDED FOR MONTHS! NOW I CAN DRIVE IT! 😘😘😘😘😘🙏🙏🙏
If the switch is the problem, then if you do like this it will work. Before you spit the switch for repair, check the motor for working condition. If the motor itself is the problem then it will not work.

Seat removed because to show you all the complete system. thanks
Yes just replaced by partially removing the trim. I bought a new replacement switch for about $25 on eBay. Was able to do the job in about 15 minutes.

Why i removed the seat to show the system completly. if i no need to shoot it, only repair it I also will not remove it. Thanks for the comments

Would this work for a seat that is stuck up and doesn't go down? Santafe 2013?
If the switch is the problem then this solution will work, If the motor stuck, then you will have to repair the motor.
@@automasterekm6548 I did clean up the switch and it started working, thanks again
